00:54Hello, I am Alberto Matos from Derecho Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:59We begin with the news.
01:19At the United Nations, a special meeting will commemorate Palestine Day on November 26,
01:24on the eve of the anniversary of the partition resolution that stipulated in 1947 the creation
01:29of an Arab state in the still-occupied territories.
01:32The meeting will recall all the steps of the organization and will become a space for solidarity
01:38after more than a year of Israeli offensive in Gaza.
01:42Since 1977, the international date highlights the need to comply with the resolution stipulated
01:47the creation of a Jewish state and an Arab state in Palestine.
01:52Despite the decades that have passed of the two states contemplated in the resolution,
01:56only Israel has been created.
02:03An heavy rain and sea waves flooded tents of displaced Palestinians on west of the city
02:08of Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip.
02:11The derisional rains that fell during the night of Monday flooded the tents and in some
02:14places washed away the plastic and cloth shelters.
02:18Government teams on the ground deployed over 135,000 tents, 110,000 are completely worn
02:24out and need to be replaced urgently.
02:27These heavy rains have deteriorated the humanitarian situation suffered by the thousands of displaced
02:33Palestinians, adding misery to the communities already devastated by 13 months of genocidal
02:39aggression perpetrated by Israel.
02:46And the Syrian government condemns the U.S. support for Israel and Ukraine that undermine
02:50security and stability worldwide.
02:52The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Washington's hostile attitude towards the
02:57Russian Federation by supplying long-range ballistic missiles to Ukraine.
03:01It also affirmed that the U.S. actions defy the international laws and violate arms control
03:07agreements and treaties.
03:09Furthermore, he warned that the actions of the United States would lead the region and
03:13its surroundings to an unprecedented level of escalation and would also push the world
03:17to the risk of nuclear war.
03:19Its consequences will be faced by all the peoples of the world.
03:27Lebanese authorities reported that 31 people were killed and 64 were wounded after the
03:31Israeli regime attacks against different regions of the country on Monday.
03:35Lebanon's public health ministry reported that two Israeli bombings claimed the lives
03:39of nine people in the center of the municipality of Marakeh, in the district of Tire.
03:45In that region, another eight people were killed in attacks by the occupation army.
03:49Heavy shelling and casualties were also reported in the suburbs of Beirut, in the Beqa region.
03:57According to the authorities, on average, 250 civilians were killed every week in November
04:03and 3,768 fatalities have been reported since October 2023.
04:12The number of internally displaced people in Africa has tripled in the last 15 years
04:17to 35 million, driven by conflict and natural disasters exacerbated by climate change.
04:24A study by the Internal Displacement Monitoring Center indicates that 32.5 million of the
04:3035 million people who have fled to other parts of their countries have done so because
04:35of conflict.
04:37Of these, 80% are currently concentrated in just five countries, including the 9.1 million
04:42internally displaced by the civil war in Sudan in 2023, already more than 10 million in 2024,
04:49where the world's largest internal displacement crisis is occurring.
04:53According to the center, figures the next largest group of people displaced by conflict
04:59are in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia, Nigeria, and Ethiopia.
05:14And in Egypt, people are being sought and 28 others were rescued after a tourist boat
05:19was wrecked on Monday in the Red Sea off the coast of Egypt.
05:23The boat was carrying 31 tourists of different nationalities as well as 14 crew members.
05:28The sea story about capsize, specialized in diving activities, set sail on Sunday from
05:34the port of Galip in southeastern Egypt for an expedition and was scheduled to arrive
05:39on Friday in Hugada.
05:41According to reports from logistical authorities, some survivors were rescued thanks to an air
05:45operation and others were evacuated aboard a military ship, adding that the search is
05:50actively continuing in collaboration with the Navy and the Armed Forces.
06:20Welcome back.
06:41The Colombian government reaffirmed their will to reach a consensus with the National
06:44Liberation Army in order to resume the talks suspended since September and called for a
06:49meeting on January 25.
06:51The Colombian government's peace delegation informed that a new meeting will aim to resume
06:55the agenda of the negotiating table and evaluate if it is possible to reactivate the bilateral
07:00ceasefire suspended due to growing tensions.
07:03Spokesman for the government of Gustavo Petro and the National Liberation Army held an extraordinary
07:08meeting from November 19 to 25 in Caracas, one of the venues of the itinerant dialogue
07:14along with Mexico City and Havana.
07:22In other news, miners are blocking streets in southern Peru to demand the government
07:25of Dina Boluarte to extend the deadline for completing mining formalization.
07:30The miners demand an extension of the period for the Integral Mining Formalization Registry,
07:35which ends on December 31, 2024.
07:39They argue that the formalization process is very difficult to achieve as they depend
07:44on their third parties to obtain a contract to exploit mining land.
07:49According to statistics, half a million Peruvians would lose their work permit, thus they would
07:53not be able to work legally after the closing of the registry.
07:57In this regard, the mobilized people warn that they will remain on the streets until
08:01their demands are heard.
08:09According to the United Nations Population Fund, in the last years Argentina has recorded
08:13over 2,400 femicides, resulting in at least 2,047 children losing their mothers.
08:21Surveys indicate that approximately 45% of Argentine women experience gender-based violence
08:26at some point in their lives.
08:28The organization emphasizes that one of the most devastating effects of these femicides
08:33is the impact on children left without mothers, which severely affects their well-being and
08:38development.
08:39The head of the United Nations Population Fund in Argentina, Mariana Isasi, stressed
08:44the need for a collective commitment to ensure the protection of women and girls.
08:55And also in Argentina, more than 17 million people are exposed to arsenic-containing water,
09:01according to recent research to be published in the journal Water and Health.
09:05The scientist who led the work, Alejandro Oliva, equates it to an epidemic.
09:10In fact, studies are being conducted that prove the connection between this contaminant
09:14and diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer's.
09:18Arsenic is a naturally occurring contaminant that comes from the erosion of rocks in aquifers.
09:23However, it is also reported to a lesser extent as a result of human activities linked to
09:29industrial processes such as mining, metal smelting, and the use of pesticides.
09:38Uruguay's president-elect, YamandĂș Orci, visited his mentor, former president JosĂ©
09:43Mujica, a day after his victory on the ballot, which marks the return of the left to power
09:48after five years of center-right government.
09:50On his first day as president-elect, Orci said that going to see Mujica was an obligation.
09:55The meeting was held at Mujica's house on the outskirts of Montevideo.
10:00Orci spent around two hours talking with Mujica about various issues and also with his wife,
10:04Lucia Topolansky.
10:05In this context, Orci affirmed that the experiences of these two figures have been of great significance
10:11for his political work.
10:20And with respect to the region, I am deeply integrationist.
10:24In a world that is closing, even more you have to have a good link with the region because
10:27today in one month it can change you.
10:30The world is sitting on a powder keg.

11:08Welcome back.
11:09With the presence of Cuban President Miguel DĂaz-Canel and other top leaders of the Caribbean
11:13country, young university students gather on the steps of the University of Havana to
11:17pay homage to the eighth anniversary of the death of Commander Fidel Castro Ruz.
11:22The political-cultural event evoked the memory of the man who led the Cuban Revolution, following
11:27the ideals of great Cuban heroes such as José Martí, Antonio Maceo, and Carlos Manuel de
11:32CĂ©spedes.
11:33Cuban President DĂaz-Canel said that Fidel lives among the people, adding that he is
11:37in every idea and in every work of the revolution.
11:41After his physical disappearance, Cubans remember him as a symbol of greatness for
11:45their history.
11:46U.S. President-elect Donald Trump threatens to introduce on his first day in office sweeping
11:55tariffs on all products from Mexico, Canada, and China, countries he accuses of smuggling
12:01drugs into the United States.
12:03According to the Republican, the measure will be enforced until drugs, particularly fentanyl
12:08and illegal immigrants, stop entering the U.S., adding that Mexico and Canada have the
12:12absolute right and power to easily solve this problem.
12:16Trump also blames China for the massive amounts of drugs entering the country, and states
12:20that he will impose an additional 10 percent tariff on top of any other tariffs on all
12:25products from the Asian giant entering the U.S.
12:34In Haiti, according to reports, 94 percent of women are exposed to some form of gender-based
12:40violence, and of all the complaints received, about 80 percent refer to sexual violence.
12:45The director of the United Nations Population Fund for Latin America and the Caribbean,
12:49Susana Sotoli, affirms that criminal gangs subject girls and women to horrific sexual
12:55abuse, and survivors have limited access to protection and care services.
12:59In this context, reports indicate that Haiti has experienced a 1,000 percent increase
13:05in sexual violence against children by the year 2024.
13:11Although humanitarian organizations are working with local authorities to provide essential
13:14services for victims, aid remains insufficient and inaccessible.
13:21Meanwhile, hundreds of women seen in Panama demanded justice this Monday in an unprecedented
13:29demonstration of bringing together feminist organizations in the framework of the International
13:34Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
13:37Activists demanded the state policies to protect women's lives in the face of the increase
13:42of gender violence.
13:43Demonstrators emphasized that violence transcends physical aggression, since inequalities persist
13:49in the political, economic, and domestic spheres.
13:53Other demands included the lack of recognition of women's disproportionate burden of household
13:58chores, as well as the cultural and structural barriers that hinder their access to better
14:03paid leadership positions.
14:10In Santiago de Chile, thousands of women gathered on Monday at Alameda Avenue to celebrate the
14:15International Day Against Violence Against Women, marching peacefully and without incidents.
14:21The Chilean Network Against Violence Against Women, one of the entities that have made
14:25the call through a statement, expressed that there are serious allegations against public
14:29and powerful individuals accused of violence and sexual abuse.
14:33After the alleged rape perpetrated by the former Undersecretary of the Interior Manuel
14:37Monsalve, the progressive government of President Gabriel Boric was criticized for not acting
14:43immediately and dismissing the Undersecretary.
14:45Let us remember that the President, since he took office in 2022, defined himself as
14:50a feminist government.
14:59This is to show solidarity with all the women abused everyday in this country, in this continent.
15:05Although there have been some advances, we have to show our anger.
15:08There is still a long way to go.
15:11We must continue to demand change.
15:14And around 199 Cuban doctors arrived in Mexico to work in remote communities as part of the
15:20existing agreement between the two countries.
15:22Last July, during the administration of LĂłpez Obradori, it was announced that nearly 2,700
15:27new doctors would arrive in the country to provide services in 282 basic hospitals and
15:33integrated communities located in rural or highly marginalized areas.
15:39As explained at the time by the former director of the Mexican Social Security Institute,
15:43Zoe Robledo, Cuban doctors would go to cover high-demand specialties after her election
15:48to office expressing her intention to continue with the agreement with Cuba in health matters.
