01:29 sense who filled people with dignity and patriotism.
01:33 Chavez headed a social process that allowed him to leave a legacy and renew Simone Bolivar's
01:38 thought, becoming a symbol of the people that has lasted beyond his own life for his libertarian
01:43 ideas and the integration of the peoples.
01:47 Leaders and revolutionaries of the world consider him a friend and a brother for the social
01:52 struggles to which he dedicated his life, and today they pay tribute to his life and
01:57 work.
02:03 Your people today pay homage to you in every corner of Venezuela.
02:07 They will pay homage to you and the satisfaction after what has happened is that today Hugo
02:13 Chavez continues to be Hugo Chavez in the heart of the people of Venezuela.

02:52 Organization, held a meeting with the Vice President, Delsi Rodriguez.
03:01 In other topics, the Ayotzinapa case continues to be a state issue for the Mexican government,
03:07 according to Alejandro Encinas, the President of the Truth Commission.
03:10 The government approves the sixth report of the Interdisciplinary Group of Experts that
03:15 has issued a series of recommendations related to aspects such as exhaustive investigation,
03:21 unification and search, which will be addressed by the Special Investigation and Litigation
03:26 Unit of the Ayotzinapa case.
03:28 The group, joined as a collaborating party to the investigation among the achievements
03:32 of the body's investigative work, are the arrest of the former Attorney General, Jesús
03:38 Murillo Caram, and the arrest of military personnel involved in the Ayotzinapa case.
03:45 Guatemala's Supreme Electoral Court warns that it again sees general elections at risk,
03:53 after learning that the Public Prosecutor's Office is initiating proceedings against the
03:57 system's data entry clerks.
04:00 The Special Prosecutor's Office against impunity has requested the highest electoral body to
04:04 provide them with the names of the data entry clerks hired for the electoral process 2023.
04:11 The prosecutor, Leonor Morales Lazo, has established a term of five days for the data to be submitted,
04:17 which she said will facilitate the proceedings and strengthen the process for the corruption
04:22 case of the SID movement.
04:24 After the announcement, civil society organizations are gathered in resistance fronts in defense
04:29 of the process.
04:35 In Peru on Friday, people continued to march against the government of President-appointed
04:39 Dina Boluarte.
04:41 There were many calls to protest amid national holiday celebrations.
04:45 Social organizations and the trade unions will gather this July 28th and on the 29th
04:50 at the May 2nd Square in the country's capital, Lima.
04:53 As in the previous marches, the organizers of the new day of protests said they will
04:58 demand the resignation of President Boluarte and the shutdown of the Congress on this day
05:02 that President Boluarte is scheduled to address the country with a state of the nation in
05:07 her first year of office.
05:14 Let's move on to Brazil.
05:16 Their records provided through the Access to Information Act revealed the deaths of
05:20 835 indigenous in 2022.
05:24 The report on violence against indigenous peoples in Brazil during 2022, published by
05:29 the Indigenous Missionary Council, shows that during Jair Bolsonaro's presidency, 795
05:35 cases of homicides against indigenous people were registered throughout the country.
05:40 According to the text, the states of Roraima and Amazonas, areas of Janomani indigenous
05:45 land, carried the gruesome of the sinisters, accounting for 208 and 163 murders, respectively.
05:53 In third place is Maragrosso do Sul, with 146 reports.
05:58 These three federative units accounted for 65% of all the violent deaths.
06:08 And the former president of the US, Donald Trump, is facing new allegations involving
06:13 him and his aides, asking staffers to erase images from cameras at his Florida estate
06:19 in an effort to obstruct investigations into declassified documents.
06:24 The indictments were made on Thursday in a grand jury update that adds new charges against
06:29 Trump and another defendant to the case.
06:32 Associated Press reported Eric Tucker said the additional charges of obstruction and
06:37 intentional withholding of national defense information tipped the scales of justice toward
06:43 new indictments.
06:44 The charges show not only the presence of classified documents, but a defendant's efforts
06:49 to conceal those documents from investigators.
06:52 A Trump spokesperson dismissed the new charges as "nothing more than an ongoing, desperate
06:58 and agitated attempt by the Biden administration, supposedly, to harass President Trump and
07:03 those around him and influence the 2024 presidential race."
07:08 And now let's take a short break.
07:15 But remember you can join us on TikTok @TeluswithEnglish where you will find the news in different
07:19 formats, news updates and more.
07:22 Other stories coming up.
07:27 Stay with us.
07:47 Welcome back.
07:48 President Vladimir Putin stressed on Friday during the closing plenary of the Russia-Africa
07:52 summit that the African continent is becoming a new center of power that the international
07:58 community must take into account.
08:01 The Russian head of state stressed that Africa's political and economic role on the international
08:05 stage has been growing exponentially.
08:08 The president assured that the world will have to face this reality in an objective
08:13 manner.
08:14 Putin stressed that the African peace initiative on Ukraine is an indicator of a greater role
08:18 for the continent.
08:19 He also said that Africa is becoming a new center of power.
08:23 After a two-day debate, the mandatories signed the final declaration of the event.
08:33 We stay on the topic.
08:34 At the closing session of the Russia-Africa forum on Friday, Putin said the situation
08:38 in the African continent remains unstable and he blamed it on what he called the "heavy
08:44 legacy of the colonial era".
08:47 We also have to admit that the situation in many regions of Africa remains unstable.
08:52 Inter-ethnic and ethnic conflicts have not been resolved.
08:55 Acute political and socio-economic crises persist.
08:58 This, of course, is a heavy legacy of the colonial era, of the divide and concord course
09:04 which was carried out in Africa by the Western metropolises.
09:09 And he also noted that Moscow stands ready to bolster defence ties with African countries
09:14 by helping train their military and expanding supplies of military equipment, some of them
09:20 on a known cost basis.
09:24 Russia also offers its assistance in confronting these threats, and we are interested in the
09:29 closest cooperation between law enforcement structures and special services of the Russian
09:34 Federation and African countries.
09:36 We are determined to continue training military personnel and law enforcement officers of
09:41 African countries in Russian specialised educational institutions.
09:47 On Friday, African presidents called on Ukraine and Russia to de-escalate their conflict in
09:52 order to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, taking into account the African initiative,
09:56 which also calls for the renewal of an agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain.
10:05 I call earnestly for an end to the Russian-Ukraine conflict.
10:09 African wisdom teaches that the grass always bears the brunt of a rivalry or a duel between
10:16 elephants, such is the case of what being a part of the dietary habits of most African
10:22 countries, which today face shortage and which have a real impact on the daily lives of their
10:28 populations.
10:29 The African initiative should neither be overlooked nor underestimated for an adequate solution
10:36 of the Russian-Ukraine conflict.
10:42 We wish Mr President for the de-escalation of the Russian-Ukraine conflict to help it
10:47 calm down and restore a free trade of grain and fertilisers.
10:51 That's been my speech since the first day of the Russian-Ukraine conflict, because Africa
10:56 produces grain.
10:58 We produce all kinds of grain, but no fertilisers.
11:01 How are we going to do this?
11:03 Therefore, all constraints regarding trade of grain and fertilisers must be lifted.
11:19 Now we move on to other topics.
11:21 On Friday morning, Russia's defence ministry has confirmed that it foiled a new Ukrainian
11:26 drone attack attempt on its capital, Moscow.
11:29 The incident, as reported, is said to have occurred on Thursday night.
11:33 The aircraft was heading for facilities in the capital's province when it was destroyed
11:38 by air defence assets.
11:40 The mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, also referred to the new aggression, confirming
11:45 that there was no damage of any kind, neither human nor material.
11:49 In recent weeks, Russian forces have repelled several Ukrainian drones in Moscow and Crimea.
11:59 And on Friday, China stated that its economic ties with Russia are not biased by third parties
12:05 and free of interference in response to a US intelligence report saying that China is
12:09 giving an economic lifeline to Russia.
12:13 "We have consistently lauded polonization and long-armed directions that are not based
12:28 on international law or approved by the UN Security Council.
12:32 China-Russia cooperation is neither at the third parties nor subject to interference
12:39 and coercion from third parties."
12:42 The Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday met with leaders from Guyana, Georgia, Mauritania
12:48 and Burundi on the sidelines of the World University Games in the southwestern Chinese
12:53 city of Chengdu.
12:55 In this meeting with Guyanese President Irfan Ali, Xi said China and Guyana should build
13:00 a more united community with a shared future.
13:03 Xi told Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili that China and Georgia should work for a better
13:10 development of both countries, as well as to contribute positive energy to human civilization.
13:15 In his meeting with Mauritanian President Mohamed Oudh Cheikh Shazwani, Xi urged China
13:22 and Mauritania to jointly safeguard shared interests, international fairness and justice.
13:28 Xi also expressed China's willingness to achieve mutual benefit and common development
13:33 with Burundi at a higher level when meeting with his Burundian counterpart.
13:38 The world leaders and officials are in Chengdu to attend the opening ceremony of the World
13:43 University Games on Friday.

14:30 Welcome back.
14:31 New York's Interior Minister had banned all the public demonstrations following a coup
14:36 d'état carried out by a group of military officers who now have the support of the army.
14:42 The ministerial office recalls that the state maintains a monopoly on violence and reproaches
14:47 alleged riots committed by people demonstrating support for those holding the president, Mohamed
14:52 Bassem.
14:53 It stated that it has instructed the police forces and other security groups, of whom
14:59 it does not give details, to arrest those who carry out riots, acts of vandalism or
15:05 public demonstrations of any nature.
15:07 The international community ratifies that it only recognizes Bassem as the president.
15:17 And amid worldwide claims in favor of the democracy in Niger, coup leader General Abdoul
15:23 Rahman Tshani spoke on national television and read a statement after the ouster of the
15:28 president-elect Mohamed Bassem.
15:32 On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, security forces gathered within the National Council for the
15:38 Safeguarding of the Homeland, but against the regime of the Seventh Republic.
15:43 The action of the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Homeland is motivated
15:48 by the sole desire to preserve our beloved homeland.
15:51 On the one hand, in the face of the continuous deterioration of the security situation of
15:55 our country, and this without the following authorities letting us glimpse a real solution
16:01 to the crisis, poor economy and social governance.
16:06 The Kenyan President William Ruto condemns the latest coup in Niger that ousted elected
16:11 leader Mohamed Bassem in the insurgent Strikton region.
16:15 He joins the rest of the world to condemn in the strongest terms this unconstitutional
16:22 act that subverts democracy through a coup d'etat and calls for the immediate release
16:29 of President Mohamed Bassem, who is reportedly seized by members of the presidential guard.
16:36 And the non-governmental organization Action Against Hunger announced on Thursday the temporary
16:41 suspension of some of its activities in Niger.
16:44 In a statement, the organization assured that the Action Against Hunger teams are stable
16:49 and safe in Niger.
16:50 It also said that it is monitoring the situation with the aim of enabling them to resume their
16:55 activities as soon as possible.
16:57 The measures came after the military detained the country's President Mohamed Bassem and
17:03 decreed an overnight curfew the same day, including the closure of air and land borders.
17:08 In the meantime, the international community continues to demand the release of President
17:13 Bassem.
17:13 Let's move on to other topics.
17:32 On Friday in the Philippines, officials said at least 39 people have died following the
17:37 impact of Typhoon Dok Suri.
17:40 Reports from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported that the natural
17:44 phenomenon reached the coast, causing rains, floods and landslides.
17:49 Official data shows that Typhoon Dok Suri has affected more than 500,000 people across
17:55 the Southeast Asian country.
17:57 Over 29,000 displaced people are still in 479 temporary shelters.
18:02 Dok Suri, the fifth cyclone to batter the Philippines in 2023, has dumped rains for
18:08 days, triggering flash floods and landslides.
18:11 Many areas of the main Luzon island are still inundated.
18:19 And now let's talk about culture and religion.
18:22 On Friday, Iranians take part in the morning rituals and prepare meals in the capital Tehran
18:27 as they mark the Sheet Festival of Ashura.
18:30 This event is a 10-day period commemorating the 7th century killing of Prophet Mohamed's
18:35 grandson Ayman Hussein.
18:38 Millions of Shiite Muslims in Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other parts of the world commemorated
18:44 Ashura on Friday.
18:45 Shiites, who account for more than 10 percent of the world's 1.8 billion Muslims, regard
18:51 Hussein as the rightful successor to Mohamed.
18:54 His death at the Battle of Karbala, south of Baghdad, at the hands of the Sunnis, opened
18:59 a deep rift in Islam and he continues to play a key role in shaping Shia identity.
19:07 And like this, we have come to the end of this news brief.
