00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Wednesday morning. Mixed
00:04fortunes today, we have cold weather in the north but some clearer skies. Further
00:08south, outbreaks of rain. Still some showers just affecting coastal districts
00:13of Northern Ireland as well as Scotland running down towards the Irish Sea. But
00:17inland, some clearer skies, a widespread frost and also some fog patches. Northern
00:21Ireland seeing that freezing fog first thing this morning. Central belt, some
00:24patches here down towards the far north of England. And then we run into this
00:28cloud which is thick and also some outbreaks of rain. Anywhere from Yorkshire,
00:33Mid Wales down towards the Midlands. And some heavier pulses of showery rain
00:37across central southern England towards East Anglia. And this is where we do have
00:41that rain warning across southern counties through today. Expect some
00:45heavier downpours through this morning into this afternoon with a stronger
00:49wind coming in from the southwest. And that wind actually extends towards East
00:53Anglia as well. So windy conditions here as the rain continues across the East
00:57Midlands, East Anglia, showery bursts towards Kent and Essex through the
01:01lunchtime period. Eventually it is all clearing but we continue to feel that
01:05wind in the east as the cloud continues to be fairly stubborn across central
01:08southern parts. Elsewhere really it's the freezing fog which could actually be
01:13quite stubborn in places through the morning. Especially across Northern
01:17Ireland, some parts of southern Scotland and the far north of England. Elsewhere
01:21clearer skies, a fine day but still those showers running down the East Coast and
01:25one or two affecting the far north of Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and
01:28perhaps the far northwest of Wales. But there will be some sunshine around as
01:32well. So let's take a look at the temperatures through this afternoon.
01:36Disappointing, two to four across Scotland, six for Northern Ireland, five
01:40or six across Wales, Northern England. But we could hang on to ten, eleven
01:43towards the home counties. But notice this wind will be relentless as we head
01:48through Wednesday evening and overnight and delivering some showers across these
01:51parts as well. So let's pick up on the detail as we head through this evening.
01:55Are you stepping out and about? It's probably worth wrapping up warm, it's
01:59going to be a cold one. In fact that cold air extending right the way down the
02:02country as this cloud tends to fade away. Notice along the East Coast that wind
02:07continues to bring with it the chance of one or two showers and temperatures
02:11generally speaking are going to be sub-zero away from the coastline and in
02:15land across the countryside, yes even lower than that. And freezing fog will be
02:20an issue as we work through Wednesday night into Thursday. What that means, yes
02:24it'll be slow to clear yet again, some murky conditions, a cold day. Through
02:28Thursday cloud spills ahead of this rain band which will slowly move in across
02:32Northern Ireland, some showery bursts down towards Wales as well as the West
02:35Country away from northern and eastern parts of Wales where you hang on to some
02:38brighter weather. High pressure extends right the way down the country on
02:42Thursday but notice this is the weather system coming in, it will bring some
02:46stronger winds eventually and the air turns milder through Thursday and into
02:50Friday, heralding a milder spell of weather into the weekend. But the winds
02:54will always be a feature, they're going to be strong at times through Friday as
02:58well as Saturday and Sunday. This showery rain will be a bit sporadic through into
03:03the first part of the weekend but we'll see more come in later on in the weekend
03:08as well. But on Friday this is how we see it, cloud and rain across the north as
03:12well as the west, cloud spills ahead of it but some brighter weather across
03:15eastern counties but it will be a breezy day. I'll see you later.
