00:00Skeletor wanted Greyskull's secrets but instead he'll get a knuckle sandwich.
00:04Here's a look at the Mattel Matthew Universe Masterverse Matthew Universe
00:08New Eternia Flying Fist He-Man.
00:24He-Man discovers an ancient weapon fueled by the power of Greyskull long
00:28thought lost which shows him the way of the Flying Fist. I think if Skeletor
00:33hasn't hightailed it yet He-Man's gonna give him five good reasons why he should.
00:37Just before of course we get a closer look New Eternia Flying Fist He-Man
00:41let's grab the first the tape measure and let's see how tall the figure stands.
00:43Theoretically though the figure that came before this was Thunder Punch He-Man
00:47that's using pretty much the same head sculpt as this one here. Because I don't
00:50have Thunder Punch He-Man yet, because I have Flying Fist He-Man now, we're gonna
00:53be looking at this figure first. The figure though is gonna stand at seven
00:57inches in height. He is. You can see it for yourself. That translates though to a
01:01figure that's 18 centimeters tall. Flying Fist He-Man used this head sculpt but
01:05before that this guy used this head sculpt. Here's what the figure looks like
01:08with the New Eternia faker. Yes I know I still have to fix the head. I'm trying to
01:12track down a fairly reasonably priced faker so I can get rid of the one that I
01:15have right now and maybe replace with the one that has the better paint. Also
01:19bringing in a couple of other examples of He-Man's. Here's first what the figure
01:22looks like not with though a New Eternia version of He-Man but a battle armor
01:25He-Man nonetheless. Speaking of battle armor, here's what the figure also looks
01:28like with battle armor Skeletor and of course here's what it also looks like
01:31with a smaller version of him, the one from Origins. This is the Flying Fist
01:35version of He-Man. It's quite obvious to me that New Eternia Flying Fist He-Man
01:39unfortunately does forfeit, does sacrifice the vac-chrome finish on his
01:42armor that the original vintage toy would have had as well as carried over
01:46to the Origins. The figure would have had it here in his armor. He also would have
01:49had it on his shield. He would also had this on his spinning melee weapon but
01:53instead Mattel just decided to paint this in silver and I think that's a lost
01:56opportunity. One of the things of course the figure does come included with is
02:00again this spinning melee weapon. I always really thought to call him Flying
02:03Fist He-Man instead of having orbs on the end they should have actually been
02:06tiny little fists. I don't know would that have been silly and stupid? I don't
02:10know. Flying Fist He-Man. If they're gonna be flying fists make them literally
02:13flying fists but instead what they are is flying orbs. Just to bring in the
02:17original Origins version because I don't have the vintage version of Flying Fist
02:20He-Man. It does pretty much the same thing although this one obviously it does have
02:24the nice shiny mirror finish. The thing that unfortunately is funny about this
02:28and not really haha funny necessarily for He-Man is when you were putting this
02:32on his arm you can either have it on this side which is the side I would
02:34prefer or you can have it facing inward. When you're having it facing inward this
02:38is gonna be clobbering He-Man every single time it spins. In fact the joke
02:42continues if you look at the front of the package. He-Man has this facing
02:45inward so even if this is spinning he's gonna be hitting himself in the head. The
02:50joke though continues if you look at the back of the packaging. Look where
02:53this is right now. I don't even know if it's spinning even if it isn't. I would
02:57hope the safety is on because if it isn't and it happens to be starting to
03:00spin He-Man's gonna be hitting a whole lot more things than just his noggin.
03:04Let's move that to the side. So yes of course if you wanted to you can just simply take
03:09the spinning ... what would you call this? A spinning flying fist
03:12melee weapon? That's a long title to have to put in a title. But anyways though you
03:16would just have to put this in his hand. Now he already has gripping hands on
03:19both the sides. I choose myself for the safety of He-Man to have it on this
03:24side. Basically you just fit this into his hand. I don't know why I'm having a
03:28hard time flipping this around on the other side here. Just there we go. Pop it
03:32into his hand and then he's got this clamp piece here that basically fits
03:35over top of his forearm. Now for me safety is always number one. I think
03:41that's a much safer way for He-Man to be carrying around a weapon. If this is
03:44inward, well you already know that's causing conflict right
03:47away. But this does spin. It spins fairly easily. Now one of the things
03:51that you also get when you get the figure out of the packaging, you get that
03:54little piece of paper that's on the side compartment. It always just feels like
03:57it's filled with absolutely nothing. It is technically included with fists but
04:01one of the other things that also inside that bag, so it makes you don't lose it
04:03whatever you do, on the back there's the little clamp piece that fits onto his
04:07torso. This slides just up. There we go. And you can see that it's basically like
04:13just two prong pieces and then it slots into the back right here. So you just put
04:17it to the top, slide it all the way down and now it's gonna be locked in place. So
04:21if you want a place to put the flying fist when they're not in He-Man's hands,
04:25the more middle part here, the thinnest of the of the weapon, you basically just
04:29use that piece and that clamps just onto the back of his body. Technically though
04:32if He-Man was in a motorboat, this guy would be able to go across the
04:35water very easily. Also as well it's far enough away from the back of his head so
04:39it's not gonna be giving him any bit of a haircut or anything worse. The thing I
04:43also really like about this is he's got a spike little tack there on the front.
04:46So if this isn't already causing problems with the people that he's
04:49flying this at, he also has a little spike on the front he can poke people
04:52with. Stop that. The figure does also come in clear with a shield. Now already one
04:58of the things you probably can already see too is that the figure, I have to
05:00kind of lean him a little bit more further forward because the back of his
05:03compartment here is now more back heavy than it was before. It's gonna cause the
05:07figure to fall a lot more easier. So you just kind of want to lean him a little
05:11bit further forward. You know what? I'm facing front and center. The figure also
05:14comes in clear with a shield. The shield doesn't spin all that great even if we
05:19were to look at the original shield that we got here. The original shield spun a
05:22lot easier. Again I don't have the original toy so I can't bring in the
05:25original toy but I can at least show you guys what the origins one looked like.
05:28Again it's it's missed unfortunately the fact that they don't have the silver
05:32finish, the mirror finish here. Just painting this though in silver, I know
05:35they're saving a lot of cost, but it just just seems like if you're gonna
05:39release a character like this that's known for having certain things, it would
05:43be nice to think that the figure could have had those things. Now one of the
05:46things also that this He-Man does sacrifice, we bring in the original
05:49origins one, you could actually take the torso and spin it back and forth. So if
05:53you have for example, I know right now I'm kind of breaking my own logic, let's
05:56just take the flying fist right now and put him into his hands. My wrist on this
06:01He-Man is a little on the loose side. There we go. You take the back, this also
06:05serves as a place to put your finger so you're not getting in the way of things,
06:07but when you rotate the back of his body it would spin his torso and
06:11inadvertently it would also spin this disc as well. This new He-Man
06:17doesn't have that. It simply just has the bulge or the waist swivel in his
06:20body. So that's all he can do. Of course we can also take as well the
06:25shield. Now the shield does have a strap. It's pretty soft plastic. It attaches in
06:29two places because again, I want to go with safety. I'm gonna take the
06:32shield and you just have to kind of get your finger underneath the strap here.
06:36For all intents and purposes, this would fit around He-Man's hands, although a
06:40lot of times you're finding yourself kind of fishing out the strap to get it
06:44around his blasted hand. Anyways, we're just gonna keep it right there for
06:47something. You can see exactly how that's supposed to
06:50attach onto his hand. You have to fight a little bit to get that
06:53underneath. You can also as well take the strap and feed it under way that
06:56way too and then not even worry about the middle strap at all. He basically
07:00has himself a shield. There's no storage space at all. I mean I
07:04guess technically you could take the shield and kind of just, I don't know,
07:07wedge it like that, but I mean like it's not really intended to go there at
07:11all. If anything, I guess maybe what you could do is you can also take this as
07:15well. Just clamp this on the back. There we go. You can take the shield really and
07:21the shield could just attach onto the side here. That's a lot of clutter. Now
07:25he's hoarding He-Man instead of flying fist He-Man. Could it also maybe go here
07:29as well? I don't know. I mean there are places I suppose you could probably even
07:32like clamp it maybe around the handle. I would just if anything have it in his
07:35hand instead. Speaking of hands, how's this for a segue? The figure also comes
07:39included with closed fists. So instead of flying fist He-Man, he's got closed
07:42fist He-Man. That's not as interesting of a title on the packaging for a figure.
07:45The hands themselves can simply just swap out with the hands that he has. So
07:49if you want to have gold hands instead, so really if you're looking at this
07:52instead of having regular flesh tone hands, he has basically closed fists. I'm
07:56not sure why they chose to give him gold hands rather than just skin hands. The
08:00initial idea was okay, well we're gonna be giving him closed fists, so there's an
08:03alternative of course instead of having him always grabbing on to something. But
08:07it just seems strange to me. Then why would they give him an option available
08:10to give him gold hands? Oops I just dropped the hands. Anyways just to show
08:17you guys, I'll just put the hand right there for a second. I mean it's fine and good. I
08:20just don't know if I think I like I don't know if I like the gold though as
08:23much as just a regular. Now of course you can also slide these off completely too.
08:26So if you don't want to have the gauntlet on the side of his arm, like the
08:29original He-Man doesn't have that. He has basically just a little red bracelet. So
08:33if you wanted to, you can leave this off. I almost would have even said to
08:36challenging perhaps Mattel's decisions, instead of giving him a gold hand, maybe
08:41perhaps it would have been a better idea. Why am I getting getting his hand all
08:44the way in there? I think maybe as a better idea instead of giving him gold
08:47hands, why not maybe give him red bracelets? Right so instead of having the
08:52larger gold gauntlet, if you want to have him something a little bit more closer
08:55to the original toy, give him red bracelets instead. I would have been fine
08:58to swap those out and give him red bracelets. Unfortunately the figure
09:01doesn't include that. Getting a closer look at the way at the head sculpt, I
09:05will say I was relieved when I got this guy out of the box. I ordered this one
09:08online from Entertainment Earth and seeing some of the the horrible images
09:13of this guy online, this head sculpt does not sell well a He-Man. Especially when
09:17you see some images where it looks like he's outlined in mascara. Luckily though
09:21for me, this one does not have the mascara around his eyes. Still again it
09:25is using the faker head sculpt. Please everybody overlook the smudge that he
09:29has on top of his forehead. But yes, using the same faker head sculpt,
09:33Thunder Punch He-Man also will have the same head. So this seems to be the head
09:37that they're moving forward with. I mean obviously Revelation isn't gonna have
09:40that. Revolution isn't gonna have that either because that's its own separate
09:43category of the Masterverse. But everything like New Eternia wise, this
09:46seems to be now the go-to He-Man head. It's okay. I mean it's better looking in
09:51hand than it did look online. The mascara outlined around his eyes and I've seen
09:54again like some terrible looking paint jobs on this figure. I think I've done
09:58pretty good with it. It's one of the better yet Mattel can't seem to really
10:02get and land a perfect looking He-Man. There's always like there's always
10:06something really wrong with it. The cheekbones are okay. I think if anything
10:10maybe just the eyes are probably a little bit like he looks lost in... I don't
10:14know if he's just lost in his imagination. He's just thinking about... I wonder what
10:17Battle Cat's doing right now? Hmm or the Sorceress? Yeah Sorceress sounds a little
10:22bit more serious. I wonder what Sorceress is doing right now? He seems just a
10:26little bit lost. Of course when it comes to his armor as well. It's crazy that
10:30they actually gave him a somewhat similar kind of metallic finish for the
10:33gold and yet they chose not to do that with his armor in the middle. Now he does
10:37have these lion shoulder pads. They're pretty cool but the original toy would
10:41have not had that. If you don't like this look, technically you can pull these off.
10:45It wasn't the easiest thing to pull off the first time around but every single
10:48time I've done it afterwards they seem to be very easy to remove. When you are
10:52first taking them off... I'll put this back in here for a second. I try not to pull
10:56them out this way. I feel like that was the thing that was kind of
10:59holding these things back. Instead sort of just tilt it up a little bit and then
11:04pull it out. As you can see the way it's actually curved. It sort of curves in and
11:08snaps on then to the other side. So you can leave that one off too. You can also
11:11pop this one off too. And if you want to just remove them all together. I mean it
11:16kind of even looks a little bit like Cringer. Maybe... I don't know Cringer. Is
11:20Cringer dead? Do we know if Cringer's even dead in New Eternia line? We haven't
11:23gotten a battle cat yet. Maybe. Maybe this is an honor to his fallen cat, his
11:27colleague battle cat. That's kind of sad. Now we've taken this review and made it
11:31a little bit more depressing. Anyways we'll just put those off to the side. One
11:34thing good at least by removing them is it gives him a much more freedom in his
11:37arms with the lion shoulder pads in place. You can't really do as much as
11:41what I'm doing right now. Bring out the arms. Don't even think about it. Bring them
11:44all the way around. Forget about it. You can't even do that either. Unfortunately
11:48does leave these little pylons. These sticking up pieces on either side. But at
11:51least they are fully painted. Unfortunately though I have noticed a
11:55little bit of my paint. Can you see that there has scraped off off the top? I
11:58don't know if it's just from the times I've actually tried to remove these
12:00shoulder pads. That has started to flake a little bit of the paint away on the
12:04top. So just be careful of that. While everything else can be removable. While
12:08these can be removable and the gauntlets can be removable. The one thing I really
12:11really wish could have been removed on He-Man is this stupid... pardon my French...
12:16this little piece of armor that he has draping down the front of his loincloth.
12:20Had this only been, please for the love of God, could this not have only been a
12:24separate piece that you could have just taken off the belt for example and this
12:27came off as well. Or the red piece could have been underneath. This part could
12:32have been an overlay with a separate secondary belt. So you can just
12:36completely take that off. It's the one thing that's too jarring for me. I just
12:39don't like the look of it. Again if you were to go back and look at the original
12:42Origins, Origins never would have had that in the first place. And I get it.
12:45Mattel wants to jazz these figures up, make them look a little bit different, a
12:49little bit more updated, a little bit more evolved when it comes to their
12:53armor. This is the one piece I really wish wasn't there in the first place.
12:56The lower half of his body doesn't have the furrier boots. What he gets though
13:00instead is he gets these armored boots with a nice gold trim on the top. All in
13:03all it's good-looking He-Man. I am happy though that you can remove these. I just
13:07wish this part was removable as well. Now if we put the shoulder pad back in
13:12place right now. I'm gonna only do it on one side to show you guys a
13:14demonstration. Oh yes a demonstration. Pop that in place. With these in
13:19place all you can really do is get the arms about this far. Try to rotate them
13:23all the way around. It's not gonna happen my friend. Although if you remove them on
13:26this side you can easily rotate the arms. No problems whatsoever. The biceps do
13:30swivel. The figure does have a double hinge on the elbow and the hands rotate
13:34back and forth. The waist is only gonna swivel so if you're expecting these arms
13:37to swing they aren't gonna happen unless you swing them yourself. The figure does
13:41have splits on his legs. You can see there's ball joints working behind the
13:44scenes. Three-quarter of the way up the thigh there's a swivel cut so you can
13:47rotate them there. The figure has a double hinge on the knee. Really tight on mine.
13:50Swivel in the boots. Ankle pivot. Ankle rocker. The figure does also have toe
13:54articulation as well or foot pegs on the bottom of his feet. It's a good-looking
13:58He-Man. I will say though the He-Man looks a lot better than I was thinking. I
14:01was dreading really getting this figure and really for that matter a
14:04Thunder Punch He-Man just because again like the head sculpt I didn't think
14:08looked all that great. I really felt it was an ugly looking He-Man. He seemed to
14:12work head sculpt wise pretty good for Faker even though again like my figure
14:16has a big smudge on the top of his forehead. But again like if you're
14:20comparing it to this one there are a few little changes I wish weren't
14:22necessarily changes like changing out the fur boots for example to like the
14:26armor boots I think makes a little bit more sense but I think if including
14:29inside the packaging where is it where's the fist I don't know again like why
14:33include gold fists something I would never ever display with He-Man if
14:36anything I want to display with He-Man you'd like to think that this could also
14:40have been a gripping pair of hands as opposed to just closed fists but I would
14:43rather instead just save the plastic on the gold which as you can see as well
14:46has a little bit of marbling to the plastic itself I would have done one
14:50better though I would have instead included these fists I would have popped
14:53instead the bag the little red gauntlets little bracelets that he has on the
14:57original vintage toy would have had it the origins figure of He-Man would have
15:00had that as well I think it just would have made the He-Man more swappable if
15:04you wanted to have them look a little bit more like the original 80s toy or
15:07the one we got from origins He-Man as a whole flying fist variety He-Man does
15:11look good of course he does have still the spinning contraption of doom that he
15:14had before but again like it escapes me why in the packaging and on the back as
15:19well He-Man always seems to have this facing forward facing inside his body
15:23not only again is it gonna be clobbering him in the head but it's also gonna be
15:26hitting other things that He-Man probably would have not rather had him
15:29hit I apparently know nothing when it comes to makeup not eye shadow you dolt
15:33I meant eyeliner most He-Man's actually of this head sculpt if you look at it
15:38online a lot of them have ugly eyeliner all outlining his eyeballs so it really
15:42does take a lot away from the sculpt the way that at least I received mine the
15:46head sculpt while it's still being an ugly He-Man we just can't seem to get a
15:50perfect looking He-Man head from Mattel which is crazy because they're the
15:53company that made He-Man in the first place this at least looks better in hand
15:57than it did look online I've got the character of course displayed with
16:00shield in one hand his spinning flying fists flying balls I don't know what you
16:04want to call him his melee weapon in the other still safety is always my first
16:08priority so I still don't understand why the packaging advocates the idea if
16:12you're gonna have anything spinning we're not even just talking about He-Man
16:15but if you yourself have something in your hand that spins don't have the
16:19thing spinning inward towards your body you want to have it spinning outward
16:22away from your body and it makes a little bit more sense at least in my
16:26eyes that have He-Man spinning it on the outside of his body causing no harm
16:30to his head or other things instead now the figure does have some things that
16:34are swappable you could if you want take off his gauntlets you can also as well
16:38remove those lion mane heads shoulder pad pieces I kind of like him I mean the
16:43more I look at it I more feel like it adds something to the character the one
16:46thing though I really wish that he could have had be removable is that skirt
16:49piece that he has in the front of his loincloth I don't like it I think it's
16:53ugly and I think because I'm you know again I'm that guy that's set in the way
16:57that it looked fine before I feel like you don't need to add me make changes to
17:01it I think if anything for master verse line what they usually tend to do is
17:05they include the things that they want to modernize on a suit but they gave it
17:09the option to the collectors that they can remove it if they don't like it if
17:12you didn't like the lion heads for the shoulder pads hey you can take them off
17:15I wish that same mentality went also to the skirt in front of loincloth if you
17:20didn't like it I don't like it I wished I could have been able to take it off
17:23and I can't the figure all as a whole looks good this I believe is now the
17:26second time we've gotten this head for he-man of course already used before for
17:30faker then was used for thunder punch he-man now is being used for flying
17:33fists he-man we skipped completely over flying fists we went all we skipped
17:37completely over thunder punch he-man we jumped right to flying fists now if you
