00:00What amazes me is not that they won.
00:06What amazes me is that nothing happened to Ohio State other than they aren't playing
00:12for a Big Ten title and they get to go to the playoffs with their cushy ranking.
00:17They went from two to seven.
00:19It's like they lost to, let's just face facts, Michigan has never been seven and five and
00:24beaten Ohio State in Columbus.
00:27So it was a stunning win, but I thought they deserved to fall further and there should
00:32be some kind of punishment losing to a five loss team, your rival in your stadium in front
00:37of 105,000 people.
00:40This is the downfall of the modern college football playoff format, which we always have
00:45to tinker and always have to adjust with every 10 years, 12 years or whatever it is.
00:50And finally greed got the best of everybody.
00:54And Scott, it was fine the way that it was with four teams.
00:57You know why?
00:58Because there was actually ramifications.
01:00As you stated, Ohio State lose, you lost to the Ducks.
01:04So listen, the Ohio State Buckeyes guys, if you look at their schedule this year, they
01:08played and this isn't a great Michigan team.
01:12All right.
01:13So they played Penn State, they played the Oregon Ducks and they played the Michigan
01:16Wolverines.
01:17Those were their three games on the schedule.
01:18It's like, all right, these are sort of, and I know at Indiana.
01:22So Indiana this year, and they win two of them.
01:26They win two of them.
01:27In past years, Scott, that sends you to the Outback Bowl.
01:30It's like, sorry, you lost twice.
01:31You're out of the mix.
01:32And you know, move on.
01:34There's no ramifications anymore for losing.
01:37So I warned everybody about this and said, all right, you think these, the rivalry games
01:41are still cool.
01:43They don't mean as much anymore.
01:44They don't mean anything.
01:45I remember last year, Scott, when Michigan were undefeated, it was like, man, you gotta
01:49beat Ohio State.
01:51There was a chance before, you had one loss, you were on the outside looking in, it was
01:55like, yeah, you know, sorry, but you lost to this team and they're undefeated and you're
01:58not.
01:59You know, it was like a level of perfection that you needed.
02:03Now we're probably going to have a three loss Alabama team backdoor this thing.
02:07There's going to be a three loss team in the playoffs, right?
02:10It's going to be South Carolina.
02:11Would you rather it's team Alabama or South Carolina with three losses?
02:14Oh God.
02:16Well, we know what's going to happen there, right?
02:20Yeah.
02:21South Carolina is playing better than Alabama.
02:22Yeah.
02:23But South Carolina, South Carolina, you know how it works.
02:25It's all, it's all brand name.
02:27I, you know, I don't want to get it.
02:28We get into this stupid stuff though with these three loss teams, dude, even Illinois
02:33had an argument, right?
02:34I saw, uh, their coach Belima was, uh, Lay Tiffin was crying on Twitter about how they
02:40deserve to be in the playoffs because all their metrics.
02:43And he said, oh yeah.
02:44So I guess we do too.
02:46But he fired back and he had strength of schedule wins, losses, and Illinois was more
02:52impressive than Ole Miss was.
02:53Right.
02:54So we're going to get into, you know, we're splitting hairs here to me.
02:57It's almost Scott.
02:58Like we're arguing who the 69th best team is to get into the college basketball tournament.
03:03You know, not to disrespect these three loss football teams, but that's what we're doing
03:06here.
03:07Right.
03:08You know, it's like, all right.
03:09Which one of these teams, Illinois game, I'd take Ole Miss with that defense of theirs.
03:14I agree with that.
03:15I think Ole Miss would beat Illinois.
03:17If it was in Ole Miss, if it was in Illinois, I'm not sure.
03:20I'm not sure.
03:21Put it this way.
03:22Like, you know, we, we hear all this assumption all the time.
03:25Well, if these SEC teams are like Nick Saban said it last week, well, if Ole Miss were
03:29in the big 12 or if Ole Miss were in the ACC, they wouldn't lose as many games.
03:34What conference are Georgia Tech in?
03:36They should have beaten Georgia the other night, right?
03:39They're an ACC team, Texas just walked in for the big 12 and basically won your, your
03:44conference in their first year.
03:46Yeah.
03:47And how about the PAC 12, Scott, Arizona state walks in, um, walks in and goes to the conference
03:53championship game in their, in their first year.
03:56Uh, how about the Oregon ducks leaving the PAC 12 dominating the big 10 in their first
04:00year?
04:01Right.
04:02It's amazing.
04:03These, all these teams showing up all, they're going to struggle.
04:05They won't do as well.
04:06PAC 12 sucks.
04:07Well, I guess, I guess they didn't suck as much as people said, that's the big crime
04:11of this.
04:12I just want to say, Scott, it's a real shame.
04:15It's too bad.
04:16You and I should have been the commissioners of the, of the PAC 12.
04:17They'd been, they'd be thriving.
04:18I know they're coming back in a, in a miniature, you know, with a small, you know, smaller
04:23setting, but they had such a great conference.
04:26They just had bad management, bad TV deals.
04:29But the quality of play, don't kid yourself, that was elite football that they were playing
04:33and now it's showing.
