00:00Bill Belichick and North Carolina in the ACC. Some very real rumors out there. Have you heard anything in your circles around this situation?
00:17Kevin, just from what I've been told for months is that Bill wants to be an NFL head coach again. He'd like to get one more shot.
00:24Now, there's conflicting information out there, but my information tells me that having personnel control is not important to him anymore. He wants to go somewhere where he can win.
00:33He can do things his way, but he doesn't have to have control, Kevin. That means making the personnel decisions, which he got for over two decades with the Patriots. He doesn't need that anymore.
00:42But the fact of the matter is, someone who's known him for many, many years told me he absolutely wants to be an NFL head coach. So let's get to the story with UNC, right?
00:51There's nothing wrong with getting it out there that he interviewed for that job when he still prefers to be an NFL head coach again.
00:58Now, UNC, you love that. This helps your program. Hey, they're going big game hunting. They're looking at Bill Belichick. So that's a big deal.
01:05But again, I'd be stunned if he winds up coaching at UNC or any other college job, quite frankly.
01:11See, the way I see it is, Kevin, if his agent strikes out, let's say we've got three openings. This thing is to the side. UNC is willing to wait for Bill to make a decision.
01:23Let's say it's late December, and we see seven, eight teams open, and none of them want Bill. Then Bill's got to make a decision. Does he want to be a college head coach?
01:33By the way, other teams might talk to Bill because he's great. They can talk to him.
01:37So that, Kev, is kind of what I think makes this such an interesting one is, and obviously I know you know this well, but the NFL and college, they don't operate on the same timelines, right?
01:47UNLV's head coach just got the Purdue job this morning, where I imagine UNC probably needs to know from Bill before Bill would know from the NFL unless, and I don't know, Cap, how often this happens, but he kind of gets the wink, wink, nudge, nudge, just wait for us, and you're likely our guy, right?
02:13Yeah, you can find that out. No, you're right, because the college jobs, they move very quickly. In fact, it's amazing how a guy, a college head coach is coaching at the end of the season, and he's already got the other job lined up.
02:26I mean, that's college football. That doesn't happen in the National Football League.
02:29No, it's a fair point that you're making, but again, if there are any openings in mid-December where we're getting close to or later this month at the end of it, Bill might have a choice to make, but again, I'm told by someone who's very close to him that he's wanted to be a college head, excuse me, NFL head coach again.
02:45He wants one more shot, and he wants to do things his way, but again, personnel control, this gets to be thrown around like he wants everything, and my understanding is that's not quite true, so we'll see what happens, but it was a pretty interesting story.
02:58Bill Belichick at 72 years old, Kevin, you and I were talking about this off the air. It would be something.
03:05Not only see him to be a college head coach, but see him recruiting. Can you believe that? That would be crazy. Bill Belichick coming to kids' homes at 18 or 17 years old. That would be pretty interesting.
