00:00There are over 1,000 protected areas in our country, a natural heritage that includes 24 national parks, 30 marine and protected areas, 149 state natural reserves, 149 regional parks, 450 regional reserves and 5 geo-mineral parks.
00:25It is a huge wealth for Italy, which needs a careful planning aimed at environmental protection and sustainable economic development.
00:33In order to stimulate a moment of confrontation, the National Library of Rome will host the General States of the Italian Protected Areas on December 17th and 18th.
00:44An event organized by the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security in collaboration with Federparchi Europarchitalia.
00:52The first moment where we are going to sum up all that is a huge national heritage, in this moment classified, starting from the parks, from the history of this country, the great national parks, then the regional parks and of course the protected marine areas, which are the basis for reaching also international goals.
01:15We have an international commitment to reach by 2030 30% of the land area and 30% of the protected marine areas, we are at 30 billion square meters.
01:27This is our wealth, it becomes a wealth of environmental heritage, it becomes a wealth of cultural heritage, it becomes a wealth of tourist attraction and therefore of economic benefit.
01:41On the table of the General States of the Protected Areas there is also the theme of Law 394 of 1991, a law that states the fundamental principles for the institution and management of the protected natural areas in order to guarantee and promote in a coordinated way the conservation and valorization of the natural heritage of the country.
02:01This is an excellent law, we would miss something else, but we have to set goals, the possibility that all the protected areas dialogue with each other, the possibility of doing also a scale economy, which is important, that is to try to save within these contexts in order to produce resources that can be used in other contexts.
02:20The possibility above all to go and think about new objectives that concern the administrative aspects of the protected areas, that is, a greater administrative flexibility, we just want to represent this problem, but for the solution we expect that the proposals arrive directly from these two days.
