Ollie Westbury brings you all the latest from Gareth Ainsworth's press conference ahead of Salop's clash with Lincoln.
After their two goal comeback against Wigan, Salop are on the lookout for more festive cheer as the Imps head to the Croud Meadow on Boxing Day.
Transcript
00:00I'm at Shrewsbury's Sundawn training base where Gareth Ainsworth has been sat in this spot.
00:06He just left moments ago after conducting his pre-festive press conference.
00:12Shrewsbury take on Lincoln on Boxing Day as they are back in League One action looking to build on Saturday's draw against Wigan Athletic.
00:20Shrewsbury stopped the rot at the weekend which was very important after they'd lost three consecutive League One games
00:25and they will be heading into that game against Lincoln looking to build on that.
00:30Some of the things from the press conference, notable things to mention,
00:34that Saturday it felt like a bit of a win for Shrewsbury whereas for Wigan,
00:38Gareth says that having spoken to some of their staff that it felt like a loss for them.
00:43No injuries that were picked up from Shrewsbury which means that they've still got a pretty clean bit of health.
00:50It's been very rare over the last couple of years that town have actually managed to have so few injuries
00:56but there were several players left out of the matchday 18 for the trip to the Brick Community Stadium
01:02because of the fact that they've got so many players who are fit at the moment.
01:10I mentioned last night in the story that I put on the Shropshire Star website
01:13that Gareth has asked his players or will give his players Christmas Day off.
01:17He said that he's always done that in his managerial career.
01:20He believes that it's a big important time for family and that actually getting them in on Christmas Day
01:26when they probably don't want to be there is not particularly the most beneficial thing
01:30for trying to get the best out of your players
01:32but he still expects them to put all the effort that they usually would in on Boxing Day
01:39and says that players in this day and age are incredibly professional.
01:42Something on Kyle Winchester, he's very close now to being back involved.
01:46Obviously he missed out in the squad.
01:48He has had a knee injury over the last couple of weeks which has kept him out for two or three weeks.
01:53The impression that Gareth Ainsworth gave last week was that he might be close to featuring at Wigan
01:58but he did not make the squad for that game
02:00but I would say there is a fair chance that he will be involved at against Lincoln on Boxing Day.
02:07Some other interesting thing, just a final thing from me,
02:11is that I asked Gareth Ainsworth about the fact that Shrewsbury have conceded quite a lot of goals
02:15early on in halves at the start of games and at the start of the second half
02:18and some really interesting stuff from the boss to come.
02:21So keep your eyes peeled.
02:22The Shropshire Star website over the next few days as we build up to Christmas.
02:27This will be the last video update before Christmas
02:29so I hope you Shrewsbury fans have a very Merry Christmas
02:32and we will see you all at against Lincoln at the Meadow on Boxing Day.
