00:00Hello there, good evening. It's been quite a cloudy end to the week for many of us. Plenty
00:05of grey skies around and also some drizzle at times too. You can see by the satellite
00:10imagery behind me there's not been many brighter skies either. The best of the brightness today
00:15has just been to the east of high ground. As we head into the overnight period it's
00:20largely remaining fairly similar. Still lots of cloud around across England and Wales.
00:24Still could see some drizzle at times, particularly around any hilly areas. Still these longer
00:29spells of rain and drizzle across the north west of Scotland, just starting to edge into
00:33western parts of Northern Ireland through the early hours of the morning too. We might
00:37just start to see some clearer spells to the very far north of Scotland but still a few
00:41showers around exposed coasts here. And temperatures widely in the mid to high single figures,
00:46so a fairly chilly night on offer too. To start off the weekend we're not really going
00:52to see much change once again. Still plenty of cloud around, still a chance of some drizzle,
00:56particularly around western slopes. This area of rain and drizzle will slowly sink
01:01its way southward, starting to move across the Scottish borders, northern parts of England
01:05by the end of the day. And to the north of this we may start to see some sunny spells
01:09across Scotland, though we can't rule out a few showers, particularly around coastal
01:13areas. Temperatures remaining fairly similar, highs of around 8 Celsius in the south and
01:19we might just creep up to 10 degrees across parts of Scotland by Saturday afternoon.
01:25Now through into the evening, once again there's still going to be plenty of that cloud
01:28around across England and Wales. It's turning quite foggy at times too, so still fairly
01:32murky in places. And once again we're going to see another outbreak of rain, further outbreaks
01:38of rain and drizzle across Scotland at times and this could be rather heavy. We'll start
01:42to see those winds really pick up across the north-west of Scotland too with some blustery
01:46showers. Once again, these could be quite heavy in places. But for a large amount of
01:51England and Wales we're going to wake up on Sunday to fairly similar conditions, still
01:54plenty of cloud around and still some drizzle in places too. The good news is though on
02:00Sunday likely to see a few more breaks in that cloud, so a chance of a few more brighter
02:05spells, perhaps even some sunshine starting to break through the cloud by the time we
02:08reach the afternoon. But there is still going to be some cloudier spells around, particularly
02:12across the far north of Scotland. Still some outbreaks of rain here, some strong winds
02:17at times too and we may even see some snow start to fall to higher levels as well. So
02:22a wet day on offer just to the north of Scotland but elsewhere starting to see a few more brighter
02:28spells and degrees up by a degree or two as well. So a slightly brighter day for many
02:32as we head into the second half of the weekend. Now if you're starting to make your New Year's
02:37plans, well there's still quite a lot of uncertainty as we head into next week. So for New Year's
02:43Eve in particular there is a chance we could see some quite heavy rain and some strong
02:47winds at times with already a warning in force for rain across Scotland. And a chance we
02:52could see some further warnings in the forecast too. So an unsettled end to the year looks
02:57like it could be on the cards. But for day to day updates on the weather, don't forget
