00:00Hello, here's your latest weather update from the Met Office. I'm Marco Britania. Things
00:04are turning much colder now across the UK and we'll see some wintry hazards over the
00:07coming few days. The mild air now pushed into the near continent, that northerly air stream
00:11pushing in cold air across all areas, the blue colours there indicating how chilly it
00:15will be over the next few days. Looking at things in more detail though for the evening
00:18and through the overnight period, the last of today's rain clearings quite quickly from
00:22the south east of the UK. The showers across the central slice will also ease as we go
00:26through the evening. So overnight the focus for the showers will be mainly towards the
00:29north and north west. Here sleet and snow showers continue to feed in across Scotland
00:33and Northern Ireland. And wherever you are it will turn very cold by the start of Thursday.
00:37A widespread frost with ice to contend with certainly across central and northern parts
00:41of the UK. Towns and city temperatures below freezing for many, perhaps just above towards
00:45the far south and south east. Across the rural parts of Scotland we could see values down
00:49to minus 7 or minus 8 Celsius by Thursday morning. As for Thursday itself, it's the
00:54case of sunshine and showers across the UK. Showers primarily focused towards the north
00:59and north west, so feeding in across northern Scotland and Northern Ireland. A few though
01:03running through the Irish Sea and also down some North Sea coasts at times. So it will
01:07be inland areas, particularly of England and Wales, set to see the best of the sunshine.
01:11But notice here on the chart there, the blue colours do remain there indicating how chilly
01:15it will be with some frost lingering across the hilltops. And for many elsewhere, temperatures
01:19no better than low to mid single figures, perhaps up to 6 Celsius, 43 Fahrenheit in
01:23Plymouth but are feeling colder still in the breeze. Temperatures generally feeding down
01:28if not below freezing and up towards the north east of Scotland, feeling more like
01:31minus 5 to minus 8 Celsius. As we go into the evening and through the overnight period,
01:36the showers across the north and north west will become more widespread, sleet and snow
01:39showers pushing in across Scotland and Northern Ireland, eventually reaching parts of northern
01:43England. So it will be England and Wales elsewhere towards the south and east seeing the best
01:46of the clearer weather, with a widespread frost forming once again by Friday morning.
01:50Towns and city temperatures again well below freezing, perhaps down to minus 10 or so across
01:54parts of Scotland by the time we get to Friday morning itself. As for Friday, well, it's
01:59another day of sunshine and showers, but the showers quite widespread, particularly towards
02:02the north and north west. Again, a wintry flavour to most of those with sleet and snow
02:06in places. And again, it will stay pretty chilly for the time of year. Temperatures
02:09generally low to mid single figures at the very best. And again, with that breeze blowing,
02:13it's going to feel colder out and about highs generally around about 3 to 6 Celsius locally
02:18though, holding at around freezing. That's pretty much it for me. But of course, you
02:22can keep tuned to the Met Office forecast by following us on social media and by subscribing
02:26to our YouTube channel. I'll see you soon. Take care. Bye bye.
