00:00Hello there. A disruptive weekend to come, the risk of heavy rain, snow and ice across
00:07many parts of the country. And that's all down to this area of low pressure bumping
00:12into cold air across the country as we move through this weekend, the risk of rain, snow
00:17and ice for many of us. So, let's look at the warnings in a little bit more detail.
00:23Many parts of the U.K. seeing warnings throughout this weekend. Snow and ice covering large
00:28parts of England and Wales, also northern parts of Scotland as well as the low pressure
00:34system moves in. And then as we head through Saturday and into Sunday, we start to see
00:38significant snowfall across parts of England and Wales, perhaps up to 40 centimetres over
00:43the high ground, parts of northern England, Pennines in particular. So, it is worth staying
00:49up to date with the forecast. So, these are likely to change right through the weekend.
00:53So, keep up to date on our website, on our app for our latest warnings. And stay tuned
00:58to local travel advice as well as there will be some tricky travelling conditions right
01:03across the country. And then rain warnings coming into four parts of Wales as well as
01:07we head through into Sunday as the snow melts and we see further rain. So, for the vast
01:13majority through Saturday afternoon, it's actually a fairly dry picture, some hazy
01:17spells of sunshine, but very cold temperatures really struggling to reach much above freezing.
01:22Sleet and snow across northern parts of Scotland leading to some disruption here. Icy stretches
01:26where temperatures really struggle. But it is towards the southwest where rain starts
01:31to move in through this afternoon, bumps into the colder air. We'll see some snow across
01:35the high ground of South Wales and also the moors in the southwest. Temperatures a few
01:40degrees above freezing. Some places, particularly the glens of Scotland, will stay below freezing
01:45all day. And it's really through into the evening time as this system pushes its way
01:49north and eastwards, bumps into that colder air. We'll see significant snow developing
01:54for a time across parts of Wales, the Midlands, down into south-east England before turning
01:58back to rain as we head into the early hours. But snow still heavy and falling north Wales
02:03into northern England, southern Scotland. A mixture of rain, sleet and snow across northern
02:08Ireland too. Further north, Scotland as well. Clear skies. Temperatures dropping minus seven,
02:13minus eight Celsius once again with further wintry showers moving in leading to some icy
02:18stretches. So for vast majority, it will be an icy start to Sunday morning. Temperatures
02:25really falling below freezing for many. Just some mild air creeping into the far south
02:30here where we have the rain falling. But you can see by the bright colours there, the rain
02:34will be heavy. So even some tricky travelling conditions. First thing, a rain warning coming
02:40in force here as it stays unsettled through the day. But yes, we'll continue to see snow
02:46across north Wales, northern England, southern and eastern Scotland through Sunday leading
02:51to further disruption. An amber warning still out for Sunday. Some brighter skies trying
02:56to move into northern Ireland. North-west Scotland with some wintry showers. Largely
03:00cloudy to the south-east of this weather front but exceptionally mild. The wind's coming
03:04in from the south. So here, temperatures 13, 14 Celsius. A huge contrast though into northern
03:09England with the snow temperatures barely above freezing. Another cold day for northern
03:14Ireland and Scotland as well. And then into the evening time, the rain, sleet and snow
03:19just continues to push its way eastward. So it still remains very treacherous across northern
03:25parts of England, southern and eastern Scotland in particular here. And further heavy rain
03:31across parts of central, southern England and Wales as well, which leads to some tricky
03:36travelling conditions. Icy stretches forming as temperatures quickly drop below freezing
03:41across northern Ireland and north-west Scotland as well. So there is a lot going on with the
03:46weather through this weekend. We will continue to update warnings as this system moves in
03:52and brings in the rain, sleet and snow. So it is worth staying up to date right through
03:56the weekend. See you again soon.
