00:00Playing Nice is ITV's big drama to start 2025 and I'm TV and tech writer Matt Mohn-Hickson
00:08and I'm here to take you through all you need to know about it.
00:11So what is Playing Nice? Well, it's based on the best-selling book of the same name
00:16by the author J.P. Delaney. It stars James Norton, here of Happy Valley fame and long
00:24rumoured to be on the list to be the next Bond. Obviously that's kind of waned over
00:29the years because, you know, it was sort of when Happy Valley first came out a decade
00:34ago, sort of about a decade ago now, that he was linked with James Bond and obviously
00:40Daniel Craig stuck around a bit longer and they've been a bit slow on announcing plans
00:45for the next James Bond. They're taking their time with that. So he's long been a bookie's
00:50favourite. He, it's his production company that bought the rights for the book to adapt
00:56and he stars in it. And it's about two couples who find out that their children were swapped
01:02at birth. So they've been raising the wrong child, I guess, is I guess how you would say
01:08it. They've not been raising their biological child. And so the moral quandaries and disputes
01:15and such that come with that and being in that scenario, which is obviously a very tense
01:20and heightened scenario because, you know, it's involving children, you know, a parent's
01:24worst nightmare to discover that they've raised the wrong child, that it's not their
01:29kid they've been raising, that their biological kid has been raised by someone else. So the
01:34show is split into four episodes and it's airing on Sundays and Mondays, currently on
01:40ITV1. So the first episode aired on Sunday, the 5th of January, which is yesterday when
01:47I'm recording this video. The second episode airs on Monday, the 6th of January. And then
01:52it's Sunday, the 12th of January and Monday, the 12th, 13th of January is the final episode.
01:58So there's four episodes in total. But if you can't wait to watch the show and, you
02:04know, have to wait six days or so for the next episode, you can watch it all right now
02:09on ITVX, which can be got on all your smart TVs, your phones, your tablets, etc., etc.,
02:15your fire sticks, your streaming sticks, all those devices, the apps there. It's free.
02:19There is adverts, but yeah, it's free to use. Yeah, you can pay a bit extra to not
02:26have adverts, but yeah, it's up to you, you know. But if you don't want, you know, if
02:31you want to wait, it'll be on 9pm on Sundays and Mondays until the 13th of January. It's
02:37set in Cornwall, filmed in Cornwall. That's why it's so beautiful. So maybe it might tempt
02:42you to look at a holiday this summer, perhaps. Yeah, maybe the Cornish tourism board will
02:47be licking their lips at this. A nice little boost ahead of, you know, when the sales perhaps
02:53are on on your flights and such. But yeah, that's Oini's note about playing nice.
