00:00Last year, the inflation rate dropped by 3.2% due to the government's actions such as lowering the interest rate on the production of rice.
00:09This is what the Department of Finance Secretary Ralph Recto is saying, which has caused a lot of damage to low-income families.
00:15The usual inflation rate of the country in 2024 was lower than 6% in 2023 and 5.8% in 2022.
00:24Last year, the inflation rate of rice decreased by 2.3%.
00:30In fact, the price of rice continues to fall due to the implementation of Executive Order No. 62,
00:37which lowers the interest rate on the importation of rice.
00:40The government is also hoping that the local production of rice will improve in accordance with the needs of farmers
00:46and that the price of rice will remain stable through the implementation of Republic Act No. 12078
00:53to expand the Rice Competitiveness Enhanced Fund or RCEF.
00:57Meanwhile, the expansion of the Executive Order No. 608 up to mid-2025
01:03will provide Filipino families with affordable rice products
01:08along with new initiatives such as Sulit and Nutri-Rice programs
01:13that aim to provide cost-effective and sustainable rice for those who choose.
