00:00Let's start again with Houston a 20 point blowout win at home
00:04against the Chargers outright as a two and a half point
00:08underdog. DRS entering this year after doing the same a season
00:12ago winning outright in a wild card weekend game against the
00:16Browns as a slight home dog after an AFC South championship
00:20with a rookie quarterback and rookie head coach. The Texans
00:23had a ton of optimism this offseason. Are they going to
00:26fall short of maybe some of those sky high expectations?
00:30Potentially, but one thing we have to give Houston credit for
00:34at home. After winning a divisional title, this team can
00:38earn it in the postseason with CJ Stroud as its starting
00:41quarterback as an underdog now 11 and seven against the spread
00:46with eight outright victories including two outright wins as a
00:50home dog in the postseason Stroud wasn't sensational,
00:54really, which has been the story of his sophomore season 282
00:58yards, a touchdown and an interception, but did have 42
01:01yards on the ground. Third most of his two year NFL career 112
01:06of those 282 to his top target and Nico Collins, as you alluded
01:10to, and Joe Mixon, what a great acquisition for the Texans this
01:14offseason 25 carries 106 yards and a touchdown. Even though the
01:19Texans were a home dog, they prove once again, they
01:23understand what it takes to win in the playoffs.
01:26Yes, they do. And that says something about their head
01:28coach and their organization overall is booked to be back to
01:30back years as underdogs at home. Ah, they always give them that
01:33first playoff game as a rite of passage is going to get knocked
01:36out, but they continue to make it into the next round. The
01:39shame of it all is we were talking back in August, like
01:41could this be the year if the Texans and CJ Stroud,
01:43particularly CJ Stroud, take even an incremental step over
01:46what we saw last year as a sensational rookie that was in
01:50the MVP race late. He said, my goodness, Nico Collins, we know
01:53he's going to evolve as a true number one wide receiver and be
01:55that is, you know, top five type player and he is that. But then
01:59you add Stefan Diggs is that veteran presence to take some of
02:01the heat off of Nico Collins. So I've tanked L in that G and
02:04another bunch of quality players, adding Joe Mixon, like
02:07wow, the expectations now not to win the AFC South Bend, but
02:11challenge the Kansas City Chiefs for supremacy in the AFC. Now
02:14granted during the season, you get attrition and you get
02:16injuries, you have to adjust those expectations, which we're
02:19doing now. And it is unfair to say like, hey, that's a great
02:22win for the Texans. We expect them to be sacrificed against
02:25Kansas City when maybe we're thinking about Kansas City
02:27versus Houston in the playoffs in August, like wow, this could
02:30be a toe-to-toe effort. And maybe this game is actually in
02:32Houston and not in Kansas City. I like what I see out of the
02:35organization for the Texans, the defense, very good. You have a
02:38defensive head coach. That's what's supposed to happen. The
02:41offensive, the Bobby Slowick, not as good as it was last year.
02:44Why? Because injuries and attrition and a lot more game
02:46film this year that they have to what they didn't have last
02:49year under CJ Stroud. I like the progression for the Texans
02:52into the future. It's just a shame. We're not getting the
02:55full gas Texans taking on Kansas City because that truly
02:58would have been an epic game, right?
