00:00Well, let's get to this story that continues to percolate in the sports world surrounding sports betting and what could potentially happen and did happen last year.
00:08You may remember the story and it continues to have some legs here as John Tay Porter, the former NBA player who's in a lot of trouble with the law, came out yesterday in the New York Post.
00:19They reported that Porter not only did engage in improprieties in terms of manipulating sports betting, but also let sports bettors know basically that he was not going to be returning to the game and how much they should be betting on him.
00:32He shared this with different people when he was in the locker room.
00:36Quote, I went back to the locker room to get my eye checked on and said, I'm not going to play much more, giving sports betters the opportunity to bet on his player props during the game.
00:46In fact, he also texted.
00:48I'm not starting in the second half, but if it's garbage time, I will shoot a million shots.
00:53They found the person that received these text messages and did bet on this as well.
00:58Again, this is an ongoing legal situation, and a lot of this is allegations at this point.
01:03But needless to say, where there's smoke, there's fire, it seems with the story.
01:07No doubt.
01:07All right.
01:08Not much smoke or fire for the Minnesota Vikings.
01:11What in the world happened to them last night?
01:13No show completely.
01:1427 to 9, the Los Angeles Rams move on to the divisional round of the playoffs at 14 wins for the Minnesota Vikings is all for not.
01:22They fall last night, could get nothing going offensively, but give credit to the Rams on offense.
01:28It was a nice game for Matthew Stafford, in addition for Kyron Williams, and also Tyler Higbee came up big for the Rams as well.
01:36It seems like Stafford really had it going for the most part, but there was no challenge whatsoever in the face of the Minnesota Vikings.
01:43The Rams basically saying that they played for the people in Los Angeles who were going through this very tough time due to all the fires going on out there.
01:50They played this game in Glendale, Arizona, looked like it was over before it started.
01:55I think that's fair to say at halftime, we all kind of felt which way this is going to go.
01:59Sean McVay, as you saw right there, said he's playing for the fans in Los Angeles.
02:04OK, guys, man, I'm really proud of our team tonight.
02:08I thought, you know, with everything that's going on with our community, everything that these guys have gone through.
02:13I thought they epitomized and they represented the city the right way.
02:16You talk about sports offering a platform for people to come together, offer a little bit of temporary relief.
02:22And I thought the way that our team competed tonight was what it looked like to stay connected, to stay together, just to fight the spirit, the resilience,
02:29all the different things that are great traits that this team has really built through the challenges that they've gone through over the course of this season.
02:37And I'm really proud of them.
02:38I, you know, I'm excited to be able to move forward.
02:41I got a lot of respect for Kevin and his group.
02:43They did an outstanding job this year.
02:46They were a really tough outfit.
02:47And I thought, you know, Matthew was outstanding from the jump.
02:50We put the ball in his hands, thought he really did a great job of orchestrating two scoring drives right from the jump.
02:57And then really defensively, you can't say enough about them, you know, getting nine sacks, getting the defensive touchdown for verse.
03:02I thought Ethan Evans was outstanding again, really proud of him.
03:07And then, you know, Josh Carty has been automatic.
03:09So we played the game a little bit differently towards the latter part of it.
03:12And when you end up having a lead, you're really just working up against the clock where we were a little bit more conservative.
03:18But I thought our offensive line did an excellent job against that front.
03:22And I thought it was a complete game where, you know, you're playing to win and try to advance.
03:25And what a great challenge we've got next week at Philly.
03:29Yeah, Rams now will play the Eagles on Sunday afternoon.
03:32The next time we'll see the Minnesota Vikings, they could look very different.
03:35Sam Darnold, of course, has been the quarterback of their team and done a great job all season long,
03:39with the exception of the last two games that Minnesota played in the loss against Detroit and certainly last night against the Rams.
03:46Kevin O'Connell pretty dismayed with the outcome last night.
03:50Very, very tough feeling in that locker room right now.
03:55This team was really one of one in my mind as far as the feeling that's in there right now.
04:01The Brotherhood, this team truly did a lot of special things this year, but, you know, we just we didn't play well enough to win the football game.
04:09And first, first and always, I know I've got to be better for our team.
04:17I've got 100 percent confidence in our players, our coaches.
04:22We've got the right kind of things going on in this organization, but we've got to find a way to play better as a team,
04:30complement each other and do the things we need to do to win games against the class of the NFL.
04:35And that's what we're going to go back to work and do.
04:38First off, you know, I felt like obviously we played a really good team, really good team today, and they were just better than us today.
04:46And I felt like, you know, I left a couple throws out there that, you know, I could be better on, especially early in the game,
04:55really the first half, third quarter, that one to Speedy in the middle of the field.
04:59I got to hit that.
05:01But yeah, just just missed opportunities.
05:04Got to take care of the football, can't have the interception, can't have the fumble.
05:08Obviously return for a touchdown.
05:09That's a huge play in the game.
05:11Yeah, just just too many mistakes on my end.
05:15But again, just, you know, really proud of the guys in the locker room for the way they fought all season.
05:21We just didn't come out on top this time around.
05:24And yeah, that's pretty much it.
05:29We'll see what the Vikings end up doing next season.
05:31No question that will be the big story.
05:33Meanwhile, other stories going on in the National Football League.
05:36How about this?
05:36Right after we went off the air yesterday, it was announced that the Dallas Cowboys and Mike McCarthy could not come to a new contractual agreement.
05:43So they're letting them go.
05:44McCarthy could be a coach in the NFL as soon as this season, interviewing with the Chicago Bears and maybe even Seattle Seahawks as a coordinator.
05:52But Mike McCarthy, for the most part, you know, had his hands full in Dallas.
05:56We'll see what he decides to end up doing in the future.
05:59Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys have pivoted and it looks like one of their choices could be coach prime Jerry Jones.
06:05The owner has spoken with Deion Sanders, according to Jordan Schultz.
06:09He was the first to report this.
06:11Could Deion leave Colorado and go back home to Dallas?
06:16Remains to be seen.
06:17Meanwhile, Bo Nix had a great season, admitted to the media yesterday that he had back fractures for the majority of the season.
06:24And Nix did a pretty good job, I would say, all things considered there.
06:28Russell Wilson, at 36 years old, says he still wants to play football next season.
06:31And the divisional round, as we know, is now set.
06:34Updating point spreads over on FanDuel.
06:36Chiefs minus seven and a half against the Texans.
06:38Lions minus eight and a half against Washington.
06:40Eagles five and a half over the Rams.
06:42And the Ravens have now flipped to one and a half point favorites in Buffalo.
06:46How about that?
06:47Penn State's All-American tight end Tyler Warren expected to be a first round pick.
06:51No question.
06:51He has decided to forgo his final season and will enter the NFL Draft.
06:55Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden also makes the announcement that he's going to the NFL Draft as well.
07:01Florida State lands a very big recruit.
07:03Antonio Cromartie Jr., son of the All-Pro defensive back, is headed to Tallahassee.
07:09He will be a Seminole as soon as next season.
07:11All right, recapping the NBA last night.
07:13Big game for Scottie Barnes.
07:14He had 23 points.
07:15The Toronto Raptors defeat the Golden State Warriors 1-0-4 to 1-0-1.
07:19Also, the Rockets rally 1-20-1-18.
07:22They beat the Grizzlies in the battle of two versus three in the West.
07:25The Lakers lost to the Spurs 1-26 to 1-0-2.
07:28First game back since those wildfires.
07:31Wembley had 23 points and eight rebounds.
07:33The Lakers have lost three in a row.
07:35James Harden, big third quarter as Houston was down 13 points in the third quarter.
07:39They came back to win in the fourth and the Clippers beat the Heat by a final of 1-09-98.
07:45The new number one team in college basketball, Auburn Tigers,
07:50in the college football's top 25.
07:52And Georgia's in the top 25 for the first time since 2011.
07:55Wow, they're ranked number 23 in the country.
07:58Malik Brown of Duke has a sprained knee.
07:59He's going to miss an extended period of time as one of the better defensive players on their team.
08:04Ace Bailey helps Rutgers end a three-game skid, 75-68, as they take out UCLA.
08:09They've lost four games in a row.
08:10And also, Derek Queen had a season-high 27 points.
08:13Maryland defeats Minnesota.
08:15The final score, 77-71.
