00:00But let's get started, of course, with the Four Nations Tournament going on in the NHL,
00:04taking a break, getting ready to start back up.
00:06But everyone will be watching on Thursday, no question, as Team USA takes on Canada.
00:10Yesterday, in somewhat of a meaningless game, the United States did lose to Sweden.
00:15It didn't matter because Team USA had already qualified to play in the championship on Thursday night.
00:20So needless to say, sometimes you play games that don't mean a lot.
00:24But for Sweden, good win for them.
00:26They'll feel good about themselves now going into the next tournament as well.
00:29After the game, all that could be discussed was the rematch that we're headed for on Thursday.
00:35Mike Sullivan, head coach, talked about just how big this will be on Thursday night.
00:40The only thing that went through my mind is that the first game was such a great hockey game.
00:47I think it's great for hockey that there's an opportunity for these two teams to meet again.
00:55Obviously, both teams have star power all around the lineup.
01:01It was a very competitive hockey game, the first game.
01:05I would anticipate the next one will be every bit as competitive, if not more.
01:11So, as I said, after that game against Canada,
01:17the way that game was played with the emotional investment on both sides,
01:22it's just such an indication of how much these guys care and what this means to them.
01:27There's a lot of pride at stake.
01:30Team Canada had their little tune-up as well.
01:32That went better than Team USA's.
01:34As Canada beat Finland, final score of 5-3.
01:37Nathan McKinnon had two goals.
01:39Connor McDavid had a goal and assist.
01:41Really, one of the big plays was Sidney Crosby.
01:43He had an empty netter from center ice.
01:45I don't know if you caught this one yesterday.
01:49Just like Team USA, Team Canada get ready to square off with USA on Thursday.
01:54John Cooper, the Canadian head coach, talked about the play of Crosby last night.
01:59You see somebody from afar and then you don't want to be disappointed when you meet them in person.
02:06It's like, you know, you want to meet your hero and you want them to be your hero.
02:11And to be honest, a lot of times it doesn't happen.
02:15And how many times have you said, oh man, I wish, you know, you'd look at them in a certain light.
02:20Well, the light that you look at Sidney Crosby is still the same light when you meet him.
02:24And he's been a true inspiration to all the young guys in our locker room and even older guys.
02:35He is, you know, in our country he walks on water.
02:42And he is as humble as they come.
02:44And you can see why he arguably is one of the most respected people in this game.
02:52And we'll have a full preview on Thursday morning of the championship game,
02:56which will be played on Thursday night.
02:58Meanwhile, with spring training underway,
03:00maybe the Red Sox should have checked with Raphael Devers perhaps
03:03before they signed Alex Bregman and wanted Bregman to play third
03:07and Devers to play first or somewhere else.
03:10Yesterday in meeting with the media,
03:12Devers basically saying, I am not going to play any other position than third base this season.
03:18Leaving a very awkward press conference and a very awkward day in Fort Myers.
03:23Bregman, of course, the Red Sox just signed.
03:25And there is some anticipation that they would like Bregman to play third base.
03:29But needless to say, Devers was told at one point that he would play third base.
03:34But that was by the previous president of baseball operations,
03:36who was now with the St. Louis Cardinals.
03:38Now that Craig Breslow is running the show,
03:40apparently things are different.
03:42Here are Devers comments saying that he ain't moving
03:44and Cora's comments saying that that was a different person that's no longer here.
04:06Yeah, like I said, my position is third base.
04:12And whatever it is that they want to do is what they want to do.
04:16But I feel like my position is third base.
04:23Yeah, I know.
04:24They asked me the question about how I feel about DH.
04:27And yeah, I gave them the answer that I just gave.
04:31Like I said a few days ago,
04:34decisions are going to be made here about roster construction
04:37and what we're going to do in the future.
04:39And we're going to make sure we have the best team possible out there.
04:42And he has a lot of pride.
04:44We know that.
04:45And he feels like he's a third baseman.
04:48He's going to work out as a third baseman.
04:50And then we're going to make decisions accordingly.
04:52But I think here it's not about Bregman or Devers or Cora.
04:57It's about the Red Sox, right?
04:59And whatever decision we make is for the benefit of the team.
05:02I guess we'll stay tuned to see how that plays out.
05:04All right.
05:05College basketball.
05:06Auburn is still the number one team in the country.
05:08They're ranked in the top 25.
05:09Number one.
05:10Sixth straight week.
05:11The Gators are two.
05:12Duke is three.
05:13St. John's dropped from nine to ten.
05:15By the way, Kansas is down to 23.
05:17This is their lowest since 2021.
05:19All right.
05:20Illinois.
05:21Tough, tough break for them yesterday.
05:23They lost their forward, Morris Johnson Jr.
05:25to a broken wrist.
05:26He got hurt in the Michigan State game on Saturday.
05:28Good rebounder.
05:29Good defender.
05:31They beat Baylor.
05:32Final score, 74-67 at Baylor.
05:34And Tommy Lloyd, head coach of Arizona after the game,
05:36talking about the intensity the team played with.
05:38And that's why they picked up the win.
05:40The biggest thing I thought we did was show up with energy.
05:42I mean, I thought our approach was going to be critical to
05:44this game.
05:45Obviously, we're coming off a two-game skid,
05:47you know, against good teams.
05:48One on the road.
05:49One at home.
05:50You know, we felt like, you know,
05:52we had opportunities to win both those games.
05:54And you just don't want to lose that.
05:56You just don't want to lose that.
05:58You know, we felt like, you know,
06:00we had opportunities to win both those games.
06:02And you just don't want to let a third one slip through.
06:04But you're at Baylor.
06:05I mean, it's, you know, it's a coin toss type game
06:07if you're lucky.
06:08So, I just thought we did a good job showing up with energy.
06:12And, you know, obviously Henry and Tobey,
06:14we kind of played our bigger line-up,
06:16which we haven't done much today.
06:18I thought they were great.
06:19So, you know, Henry is turning into Hank right in front
06:21of our eyes.
06:22So, I'm super proud of him.
06:23For us to win, I thought if we could break even second chance
06:27points and not get a bunch of live ball turnovers,
06:32keep them out of transition.
06:34And then if we shot it decent, we had a chance.
06:37And the exciting thing is we haven't..
06:40With this group, we've only had two games.
06:43And hopefully we can get everybody quick
06:46because we haven't played our best.
06:49Let's get over to the Duke Blue Devils.
06:51They win again yesterday.
06:52Big win over Virginia.
06:53Big by final score, 80-62 the final.
06:56Duke is now 23-3.
06:57Utah beats Kansas State, 74-69.
07:00That was the final there.
07:01All right.
07:02Let's get back to some spring training news.
07:03Major League Baseball, big news in the contract world.
07:06First of all, Gerardo Podomo, the Diamondbacks,
07:08signed a contract extension yesterday.
07:10Four years, $45 million.
07:11The bigger story occurred this morning.
07:13Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., the Toronto Blue Jays,
07:15who will be a free agent after the season,
07:17declared that today would be the final day to sign an extension.
07:20He will not sign one during the season.
07:22And apparently there is no signed extension.
07:25So indeed, Guerrero will be a free agent at the end of the year.
07:28He just says he doesn't want to negotiate during the year.
07:30Mets have lost Frankie Montas from six to eight weeks
07:33with a latch strain.
07:34And several reports say this morning that Justin Turner
07:37is going to sign a one-year contract with the Chicago Cubs.
07:39Cubs were reportedly interested in Alex Bregman.
07:43They did not end up landing him.
07:44Meanwhile, let's get to some NFL news.
07:46As free agency gets ready to open,
07:47Tee Higgins looks like a possibility to be traded
07:50or franchise tagged.
07:52Some restructuring going on with Cincinnati as well.
07:54Look for Higgins to potentially be moved before the season starts.
07:57Champ Kelly is out as Raiders assistant general manager.
08:01He spent three years with the Raiders,
08:02and that's no longer the case.
08:04And potentially the top pick overall in the NFL draft, Cam Ward,
08:08who has said that he wants to be the number one overall pick,
08:10says either draft me or you don't.
08:13You're going to regret it, and I'll remember it.
08:16Cam Ward, coming strong for the NFL draft.
