Does Ty Law think HC Mike Vrabel has final say for Patriots?
Transcript
00:00Ty, Boomer was on with us yesterday and called what the Commanders have done
00:05nothing short of a miracle season-to-season turnaround.
00:10You agree?
00:11Yes, no one expected that.
00:14You know, new ownership, rookie quarterback.
00:17No, no one expected that.
00:19Hats off to Jaden Daniels for being that type of quarterback,
00:24that type of rookie.
00:26I mean, that is a hard position to play, as you know,
00:28where you're going to come in and take your team to those heights.
00:32You know, he's one game off of going to the Super Bowl.
00:35I don't know if it's ever been done.
00:36Has a rookie ever went to the quarterback?
00:38Was it Dan Marino?
00:40Did he go his rookie year?
00:41No, he went his second year.
00:43Yeah, that's a great –
00:44No rookie quarterback has ever been to the Super Bowl
00:46or at least started the Super Bowl.
00:47Wow.
00:49See, that's a feat in itself.
00:52But the way that Philly is playing right now,
00:54the way that Saquon is running that ball,
00:57you got to put him in the MVP conversation.
00:59I don't give a damn what nobody say.
01:01I mean, I know it's a quarterback award,
01:02but Saquon, he deserves to be up in that conversation.
01:06And it's going to be hard to beat those guys
01:08because you never know what the weather is going to be like
01:10if you leave the ball in the quarterback's hands.
01:14I don't know if he's showing he's ready,
01:17but this is the go to the Super Bowl.
01:19You got Saquon Volley that can control the pace of the game.
01:22And I still like Philly right now,
01:25but I would love to see Jaden Daniels as a rookie,
01:28you know, going to the Super Bowl.
01:31Ty, when you look at the Patriots
01:34and you look at the addition of Mike Vrabel
01:36and we're still talking about Elliott Wolfe,
01:39and I don't know, like, how you feel,
01:42but I feel like Vrabel didn't take this job
01:45unless he's final say-so
01:47or when it comes to making personnel decisions.
01:53Is Elliott Wolfe still there?
01:55Yeah, Elliott Wolfe's still there.
01:57Oh, okay.
01:59Well, I mean, is he still looking
02:01or is it set in stone that he's going to be there?
02:04Well, they're saying that he's still going to be here
02:06and they're trying to paint the picture
02:08that it's going to be kind of, what do they say?
02:11Well, he's modernizing the entire draft system.
02:14Yeah.
02:15I mean, they were running on candles and wax over there.
02:19Yeah, I guess he has a new way of putting the data in the system,
02:22but they make it seem like Elliott Wolfe
02:24is going to have some type of say,
02:26but knowing Vrabel, I feel like he don't take this job
02:30unless he has final say.
02:33You're damn right.
02:35I know Vrabel too well
02:37and there's no way he's going to take this job
02:40unless he has that control or has his own guys in there.
02:43You know what I mean?
02:44So he might be the new Ernie Adams or something.
02:48You know what I mean?
02:49Maybe he might be that,
02:50but Vrabel is going to have a final say,
02:52so he went and took the job.
02:54Vrabel is no fool.
02:55He held all the cards.
02:57Ty, a lot of people looking at the commanders now and saying,
03:00maybe the Patriots can follow in their footsteps.
03:02What would be the next thing that the Pats have to do
03:04to make sure that they follow that same trajectory?
03:10You got to be smart with this draft.
03:13I mean, it's going to be some great players where you're picking,
03:16but do you use this pick to get equity?
03:21I mean, you got so many places
03:24that you have to fill on that roster.
03:27It's going to be what are you going to do
03:29with this situation in the draft?
03:31Are you going to trade down, gather a bunch of picks?
03:34I think that that's what they should do.
03:36You never know if a rookie is going to come in
03:38and be like a Jay Dan.
03:40That's why everybody get picked that high.
03:42But when you have so many pieces that you need to fill,
03:45I would get the picks.
03:47I really would get the picks.
03:49You might be able to get Travis Hunter.
03:52He might be available for you.
03:54But, okay, now the question is what are you going to do?
03:56Are you going to play him as a receiver
03:57or are you going to play him as a thick feet?
03:59Is he going to make that type of impact as one individual
04:01and get you back in contention?
04:04I don't know.
04:05I don't see that.
04:07As great as I think that he is,
04:09I would love to see Travis Hunter in New England,
04:12but they just need too many pieces.
04:14So, no, I say load up and get some free agents.
04:18And you got to spend some damn money.
04:20Let's keep it $100.
04:21Let's keep it a buck.
04:22You got to spend some money.
04:23Can't be cheap.
04:25Because I said before,
04:26New England is not the destination that it used to be,
04:29especially if they don't have them come up right now.
04:33Let them come up there in New England now.
04:34You ain't getting nobody.
04:35As soon as you step outside, your lips get chapped.
04:37Hell no.
04:38Nobody want to do that.
04:40All right.
04:41So, to be clear,
04:43you're picking Eagles and you're picking Chiefs.
04:48Right now, I'm going Eagles and Chiefs.
04:51And, look, I'm not rooting either one of them.
04:56I want to see some great football.
04:57Nobody wants to see a blowout.
04:59But right now, as far as the momentum,
05:02it's going to be hard to beat Philadelphia
05:06when Saquon running the ball like that.
05:08How many yards have he had on the first time?
05:10Didn't he have damn near 200 yards rushing?
05:12He had 205.
05:14205 against the Rams.
05:16He finished with 205 yards against the Rams.
05:18Yeah, but I'm talking about the last time he played Washington.
05:21How many yards did he have?
05:22150 or something like that.
05:24Yeah, they split the two games that they played before.
05:27Washington won one and Philly won one.
05:30Right.
05:31But his yards on the ground.
05:33I think the weather can play a factor in that.
05:35Now, if all of a sudden it becomes a beautiful day
05:38and it's just cold, they might have a chance.
05:41But if it's some of that snow, and you know this time of year,
05:44whether you're playing, you know, Philly, Washington,
05:47man, Saquon is going to be the X factor.
05:50And I don't think they're going to be able to slow him down
05:52when it comes to that.
05:53But, again, I would love to see Jadon Daniels be the first rookie
05:58to go to the Super Bowl, and anything can happen.
06:01As you know how we got our first one, anything can happen
06:04because we wasn't even supposed to show up, let everybody else tell it.
06:07You know what I mean?
06:08Kansas City, you got to go out there and definitively beat them.
06:12If it's anything close, you know you're fighting against the refs too.
06:16Like I said, not taking anything away from Kansas City,
06:19but you know things seem to be going their way all the time.
06:23Is it a coincidence?
06:24I don't know.
06:25Because, like I said, they said the same thing about us.
06:27So you're going to have to go down there
06:29and just beat the hell out of Kansas City for you to win.
06:32All right, Kylah, we will talk to you next week
06:35when we know who is headed to New Orleans for the Super Bowl.
06:38We know the Buckeyes hoisting the trophy.
06:41Yeah, ain't that something too?
06:43Ain't that something?
06:44God damn, you wouldn't go through all that trash talking
06:47and we beat them and they get to go win a national championship.
06:51You know, I know people up in Michigan still like,
06:53well, at least we beat them.
06:54That ain't me.
06:55They went out there and won and hats off to them.
06:57But, damn it, that pisses me off.
07:01All right, Ty, we'll talk to you.
07:03All right, guys.
07:04Talk to you later.
