00:16The Zambonga City Medical Center continues to champion environmental sustainability

00:21by integrating circular economy principles into its operations.

00:25As part of its commitment to reduce food waste and promote environmental stewardship,

00:30ZCMC conducted its second Bokashi fermentation workshop on January 23.

00:35The workshop, attended by ZCMC personnel and staff from the West Metro Medical Center,

00:41aimed to educate participants on the benefits of Bokashi, an anaerobic fermentation process

00:46that transforms food waste into nutrient-rich compost.

00:50Aligned with National Zero Waste Month, conducted in collaboration with Kids Who Farm,

00:55sought to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills

00:58to implement sustainable waste management practices within their communities.

01:02As a healthcare institution, we want to be a part of the national effort of waste reduction and management.

01:11So with the leadership of our Medical Center Chief, Dr. Afdal B. Conting,

01:16we continuously promote and implement initiatives to further support

01:22sustainability and circularity efforts, facility-led partnership, and of course,

01:28waste reduction and waste recovery.

01:31The generated Bokashi compost is utilized to fertilize plants within the ZCMC grounds,

01:36fostering a thriving garden ecosystem and showcasing the practical application

01:41of circular economy principles within the hospital setting.

01:45The Zambonga City Medical Center takes pride in their advocacy for zero waste and green space

01:50for their patients as well as their employees.
