00:00And recently, we undertook some research of about a thousand respondents of disabled people
00:06and that was very much looking at accessibility of different places and spaces.
00:11What we found was that the vast majority of people, 95% of people are checking for accessibility
00:17before going to a new place for the first time.
00:21It's incredibly important to different people to lower anxiety about that new place, that
00:26new environment, going anywhere different, particularly if you've just acquired the disability
00:31or it's somewhere particularly new, you're new to the area.
00:35Also what we expect to find is that where people expect to find that information.
00:40So online is where everybody is searching for this particular information and the more
00:45that you're able to share within your own online information, whether that's via social
00:50media or your own websites, is incredibly important.
00:55And honestly, it comes down to what you share.
00:58What we found out is that over three quarters of people hadn't visited a place because they
01:02couldn't find information about accessibility.
01:05For them, it wasn't worth the risk as to whether they'd be able to get in, whether they'd be
01:09able to get around, whether they'd be able to utilize the toilet.
01:14And the purpose of what we're trying to achieve is make sure that we can be open and transparent
01:19about the types of places and spaces that people can gain access to at any particular
01:24time and utilize it in their own ways.
