00:00Cora was asked about it. Is Devers in shape?
00:03No. No. I mean, he was 240. I mean, I don't know. I mean, it's not, I couldn't tell you. I mean,
00:13the Pablo Sandoval 19% will go down in Red Sox history as the most
00:20ill-advised conditioning mention of all time. Because 19% is pretty good, I think. And Pablo
00:28was not pretty good. Rafael Devers is, for him, this isn't in the type of shape that
00:38you would like to see him in. Is it Pablo Sandoval? Is it George Scott running around
00:44in a rubber suit? No, this is, I'm totally dating myself, by the way. I mean, it used to be where
00:53you'd show up to spring training, you put on the rubber suit, smoke some cigarettes,
00:56the next thing you know, the season started. But no, I mean, I think right now he's a little bit
01:04heavier than he was, certainly when playing last year. So, but we haven't seen him play. Like,
01:15we hear about him hitting. I don't think he's like crazy, crazy out of shape, because I think
01:22that's just what his body type is. But I would say this, you will like to see him get in better
01:28shape as it goes on, particularly because this is the reality. This is a results business.
01:33You can say he's a big guy who hits the ball hard, and he can function at that weight and
01:37everything else. But the last few years, in August and September and in October,
01:43he hasn't been healthy. And I got to imagine that one leads to the other in some respect.
01:49So you can need this guy to get in better shape, to understand that dynamic,
01:53to get through a season. And I think, honestly, that's one of the things they're thinking about
01:56with DH besides Bregman's a better third baseman, is that we need this guy to get through a season.
02:02And the wear and tear playing third base is not going to be as conducive to that
02:07as maybe DHing, I don't know, 50% of the time.
