00:00Everton are set for a major contract reshuffle this summer, with big changes on the horizon.
00:09David Moyes has highlighted the club's transformation, pointing to the new ownership, an upcoming
00:15stadium move and a more ambitious outlook.
00:18Has Everton become a more attractive destination?
00:21I spoke with Will Rooney of Liverpool World about the expected overhaul and what it means
00:27for the club's next chapter.
00:29Let's look at Everton and a bit of a squad update. Let's start with injuries, obviously
00:35plagued by injuries as of late, especially since David Moyes came in. He's had to deal
00:40with quite a depleted squad, especially in the forward line. What's the sort of injury
00:45update you can give? Obviously we're at that running now, we've mentioned before the likes
00:50of Calvert-Lewin might be eagerly looking because of the contract situation, which we'll
00:54get on to. What's the sort of injury update that you can issue currently at Everton?
01:00Nathan Paterson and Youssef Choumitty were back on the bench at Bremfors, which was a
01:04little bit of a surprise because Moyes said there was a pre-match press conference and
01:07he didn't expect anyone back. So probably just good to have them around the squad as
01:11well again. Maybe they might get minutes in to 21's first, certainly Choumitty might do
01:16because he hasn't made a senior appearance all season and Nathan Paterson has missed
01:21a pass forward. Everton have been training in the UAE while they've had a break, so that
01:27gives Choumitty and Paterson a chance to build more fitness. Armando Brugia, however you
01:34want to say it, was spotted out on the grass with the squads, maybe in light training,
01:40which is good news for Everton because he's arrived with an achilles injury. He looks
01:47fairly sharp in his couple of cameos he made and he's obviously had issues since he's done
01:54his ankle ligaments in that FA Cup game against Peterborough. Illerman and Dye, Moyes seems
01:59to think it's better than Everton initially feared. He went off in the midst of Derby
02:04in tears, he suffered medial ligament damage, so it's not an ACL, so it's not too bad. Moyes
02:10said he's been taking injections, so that's better news. And Dominic Calvert-Lewin, you're
02:16probably looking at maybe another month at least for him, he was a really serious knee
02:21injury and Moyes recently said that Dwight McNeil, it might be after the international
02:27break this month when he's back, which is a bit of a blow because he was in really good
02:32form, one of the few players who've been in good form under Sean Dyche. He hasn't made
02:38an appearance since December, so three months now since McNeil played. But Everton, the
02:46way they've come through this period with limited options, you have to doff your hat
02:50to David Moyes and the players, certainly players who've stepped up, the likes of Beto
02:54and Jack Harrison, whose confidence was low, Jasper Linds from Jake O'Brien has been given
03:00a nod at right back. And Everton will now be looking to attack these remaining games
03:05and I'm thinking how high off the table we can finish.
03:09Just looking at Everton and their squad, obviously we've mentioned before the amount of loanees
03:13they have, the amount of players who are staring at quite an uncertain future at this point
03:18ahead of the summer with the contract situation that David Moyes has been very clear about.
03:25What do you expect to happen in this summer where there's going to be that clearance,
03:31a bit of a restart, a nice time for David Moyes to come in as well? Do you feel there's
03:36going to be major changes this summer?
03:39Absolutely, I think so, yeah. I think you're looking at 11 members of the current squad
03:45out of contract, plus the two out on their own, Neil Morpigh and Mason Holgate, who will
03:52be leading the club. It's big decisions for David Moyes to make on some of these, as we've
03:59mentioned before, Abzai Dekore, Joseph Garnagh aged 35, but has been in spectacular form.
04:05Hasmia Begovic, whose deal's run out. But it's a chance for Moyes to have a real reset
04:13I think at Everton. The PSR situation's better, so there will be money to spend. Everton haven't
04:19been afforded that luxury for many windows now. They're moving to the new stadium, they
04:25can attract new players. It's a real fresh start and if Everton can take momentum into
04:31next season, players will be looking at Everton. It's a really attractive option for me to
04:36go to because there's a new project starting, new owners and a new stadium. What's not to like?
