13 March - National weather forecast presented by Clare Nasir
Transcript
00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Thursday morning, which is cold. Yes,
00:05yet again temperatures have dipped below freezing across some parts of the country with a frost
00:10and even some icy stretches where you've seen some showers. Through the day a brisk breeze
00:14coming in from the north, particularly exposed to this eastern side. It's going to feel really
00:19rather chilly. We'll see more clouds across the western side with a little showery rain
00:23and showers will develop in situ yet again, but the wind will slowly ease. You can see
00:27where these showers are this morning, eastern counties, one or two running down towards
00:30Cornwall as well as Devon. Clearer skies inland, expect a frost first thing. Some clearer skies
00:35allowing for some sunshine to develop once the sun rises. A little bit of showery rain
00:40just running down the western side of Northern Ireland, clipping the far west of Scotland
00:44and more wet weather just coming and going across the far north of Scotland as well.
00:48So for some it's a bright start to the day with some sunshine. These showers though could
00:54have a wintry element to them, particularly over the higher ground, but even at lower
00:58levels where you catch a heavier one. They will push inland through the morning into
01:02the afternoon and develop in situ as well. Dry skies probably, I'd say, western south
01:07west Scotland. We will see that showery rain across the far north there. Some brighter
01:11weather coming through from time to time further south as well in between those scattered showers
01:16as temperatures arrive around seven to nine degrees Celsius. So a chilly day. We'll see
01:22showers continue through this evening and overnight and this little bit of showery rain
01:27will sink southwards with some mountain snow. Clearer skies across England and Wales will
01:32allow for fairly widespread frost into Friday morning. This showery rain continues with
01:38some snow across the southern uplands as we head into Friday first thing and even the
01:43far north Pennine district seeing a little bit of wintryness. Showers continue through
01:47the day on Friday. They'll be fairly scattered, a mix of clouds and sunshine. Dry skies, western
01:52Scotland, some parts of Northern Ireland where the cloud breaks. Now through Saturday, high
01:57pressure builds. That means fewer showers, more in the way of drier weather and after
02:02a bright start with some patchy frost, you'll see some fine conditions. Still quite a brisk
02:07breeze across the far south east there, east Anglia, and a little bit of shower, showery
02:12rain across the far north of Scotland in between a mix of clouds and sun. Here's your outlook
02:17through Friday. Clouds will build through the day. Chance of one or two showers along
02:21the eastern side through the afternoon. Temperatures on the up slightly, nine or ten degrees Celsius.
02:27I'll see you later.
