00:00The protection of urban green and the contrast to climate change is at the center of the Reforestation Conference,
00:10the project proposed by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Safety in the field of the PNRR.
00:16The initiative provides an investment of 211 million euros,
00:19intended for the planting of 4.5 million trees in 13 Italian metropolitan cities,
00:25with the aim of improving air quality, reducing pollution and making urban spaces more sustainable and livable.
00:31For us it is a very important project, which is part of our DNA.
00:35We have already carried out projects of this type in the past,
00:38which see technology, nature and man put all at the center.
00:43Moreover, today we will present a study carried out by Palsy with the SEMIQ,
00:48where you can see the need of the citizens who want to live in green, in well-being.
00:53So combining technology, energy and well-being is a very important thing for us.
00:59The project was presented by the Deputy Secretary of State Almase, Claudio Barbaro,
01:04together with the representatives of the capital institutions and the partners of the initiative,
01:09including Expo Italia and Palsy Luce Gas.
01:12Reforestation aims not only to increase the arboricultural heritage of cities,
01:16but also to develop a new model of urban green management through the involvement of the private sector.
01:22It is an innovative approach that introduces a public-private partnership
01:25to guarantee a more efficient and sustainable governance over time.
01:29Reforestation Urbana, 211 million invested by the Ministry of the Environment
01:33through a project funded by the funds of the PNRR,
01:37has been presented today, as well as a form of public-private partnership
01:42that we have now gone to outline in its details.
01:45The project aims to strengthen urban resilience, reducing the effects of heat islands
01:50and improving the ability of cities to absorb CO2.
01:54In the coming months, the first operations of the Mazzione plant will start,
01:57with a program that will develop gradually throughout the area involved,
02:02an initiative that stands out for its scope and its environmental impact,
02:06with the involvement of 1,268 municipalities and over 21 million citizens,
02:11covering about 16% of the national territory.
02:15Since we started, we have tried to give a different dimension
02:19in terms of communication of environmental dynamics.
02:22Environmental education is an important asset of the Ministry of the Environment and of the State for many years,
02:28but we have found it linked to dynamics that refer to the relationship with the school.
02:33Now we are transferring it to all the issues related to the Ministry's communication models.
02:41The event also offered the opportunity to present the data of Palsiluce Gas Index,
02:46an observatory built with Nilsen IQ,
02:48which has highlighted how the presence of green spaces in cities
02:51is considered a priority for the quality of life of Italians,
02:55an aspect that makes the reforestation project
02:57a key pillar for the future of Italian urban areas.
