Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Police have arrested Satish Kumar K M, a retired Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) employee, in connection with an alleged assault and traffic violation incident that occurred on March 13, 2025. The arrest follows a long-standing dispute between Kumar and his neighbor, Murali Prasad, a resident of Bejai Kapikad.
According to a police press release, the incident took place around 8:15 AM on 6th Main Road in Bejai Kapikad. Prasad was riding his motorcycle (KA-19-Y-5145) when he was allegedly struck by a car (KA-19-P-2570) driven by Kumar. Prasad sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Police records show that Kumar had a history of conflicts with Prasad, with a prior complaint registered at the Urwa police station in 2023 for alleged verbal abuse against Prasad and his family.
Following the latest incident, Kumar was taken into custody, and his vehicle was seized. The Urwa police have registered a case against him in relation to the ongoing dispute. Additionally, the Mangaluru Traffic West Police Station has filed separate charges for rash and negligent driving, as well as for allegedly hitting a woman during the same incident.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into both cases.
