00:00In Ecuador, jurists demanded the restablishment of the constitutional order
00:15and ask international organizations to take measures to warranty the integrity of the electoral process.
00:21In Russia, a new Ukrainian drone attack took place in the early hours of this Tuesday morning
00:28against the city of Kursk.
00:33And Palestinian authorities reported that at least 17 Palestinians were killed
00:38and 69 wounded in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours.
00:50Hello and welcome to From the South. I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Sirius in Havana, Cuba.
00:54We begin with the news.
00:58In Ecuador, jurists demanded the restablishment of the constitutional order
01:15and asked international organizations to take measures to warranty the integrity of the electoral process.
01:20After allegations of widespread fraud by incumbent President Daniel Novoa,
01:25the group expressed its deep concern over the multiple irregularities
01:29that have overshadowed the electoral process of last April 13, 2025.
01:34In this regard, experts urged the international community,
01:37jurist organizations in the region and Ecuadorian civil society to speak out,
01:41condemn and monitor the situation in Ecuador.
01:50The 2025 general elections were held in Ecuador on Sunday, April 13.
01:55The results published by the National Electoral Council give as a winner to Daniel Novoa.
02:00However, this process is under scrutiny because according to specialists there was a fraud of origin.
02:05Our correspondent Gabriela Mena tells us more.
02:09In Ecuador, election day ended with the announcement of the National Electoral Council C&E
02:14giving Daniel Novoa as the winner.
02:16However, this result generates surprise among diverse sectors.
02:20For experts, the scenario that Ecuador is going through can be catalogued as a fraud of origin.
02:26This because Daniel Novoa remained as president and candidate,
02:30managing to maneuver from the executive in his favor.
02:33It is not only the political pressure on the one hand,
02:38but also the lack of autonomy and of guaranteeing the transparency of these processes by the CENI.
02:44That is, unfortunately in Ecuador the law is there.
02:49But it ends up being dead slow because it happens that they remain at the service of the government in power.
02:54The law is not complied with.
02:57But there is more, Novoa not only used state funds, which exceed 570 million dollars,
03:03but he also used constitutional resources to decree a state of exception in Quito and seven provinces where the candidate for the citizen revolution.
03:12Luisa Gonzalez had the highest percentage of acceptance.
03:16In addition, he did not request a license from the National Assembly to begin his campaign period
03:21and only notified the C&E, ignoring the Ecuadorian constitution.
03:27We must take into account that there has been a discrediting of the left and of progressivism and humanism,
03:38giving the impression that if a person, a candidate, a politician or a public official is progressive or humanist or has this tendency,
03:48he or she is a leftist and is practically associated with crime.
03:52That is what these people have been saying.
03:55All this has made the different electoral observers question the lack of action on the part of the National Electoral Council
04:02and the transparency of this democratic day,
04:05for which they even sent an official letter to the C&E notifying them of these localized irregularities.
04:11In addition, they question why Daniel Novoa closed his electoral campaign with international artists,
04:18when the Code of Democracy does not allow it.
04:22Novoa, as I have said on several occasions, is a threat to democracy, he is a threat to the rule of law.
04:37What is going to happen now that he has all the power and has been re-elected for four more years?
04:46It is very likely that there is a high risk that he will commit more abuses and that it will be an arbitrary government.
04:54From the citizen revolution, the candidate, Luisa Gonzalez, stated that she does not acknowledge the results presented by the C&E
05:02and affirmed that fraud was committed in the registration of votes to benefit him against the will of the people,
05:08a point with which the citizens agree.
05:11We must open the ballot boxes because the fraud was seen, the fraud is seen.
05:18It is seen because in the territory we were talking to the people.
05:22In the territory it was seen that they were all with Luisa.
05:25Now, the citizen revolution and allied forces,
05:29as well as multiple sectors of the citizenry demand the reopening of the polls and transparency of the results,
05:35as well as the investigation of the last-minute arbitrary changes in electoral precincts,
05:41the military intimidation and obstruction of electoral observers and, above all, the manipulation of official records.
05:50Gabriela Mena, Telesur, Ecuador.
05:54A U.S. court will hold a hearing this Tuesday on the case of Quilmar Abreu Garcia de Salvadoran deported by administrative error
06:02to a maximum security precinct in El Salvador.
06:05The Salvadoran citizen continues to be deprived of his liberty in his country of origin,
06:11even though he had a court order protecting him from deportation since 2019.
06:15Since his arrest on March 12, 2025, the family of the kidnapped migrant has been demanded his release and safe return to the U.S.
06:25For its part, the government of El Salvador underlined that there were no reasons to return Quilmar Abreu Garcia
06:31after qualifying him as a terrorist.
06:42In this context, after U.S. President Donald Trump met with Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele
06:48amid general outrage over migrant transfers to Salvadoran jail,
06:52protesters gathered in front of Salvadoran Embassy in Washington, D.C.
06:56as U.S. President Donald Trump received Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele,
07:01who is now his key ally in a controversial initiative to deport undocumented migrants to a notorious Salvadoran prison.
07:09In a meeting at the White House, Bukele affirmed that he would not return Quilmar Abreu Garcia.
07:15The deportation of Abreu Garcia to El Salvador has unleashed a serious legal crisis
07:20after the Trump administration admitted that his deportation was due to an administrative error.

12:12The Russian official ratified that Moscow maintains the ceasefire against energy targets, which was established for a period of 30 days.
12:20The Kremlin warns that since the entry into force of the truce between Russia and Ukraine, the Kaif regime has ignored its ceasefire obligations and continues its shellings.
12:35In Sudan, extremists of the Rapid Support Forces announced having ceased the Samsam camp in northern Darfur two years following the outburst of the civil war.

12:57Likewise, over 70,000 Sudanese civilians were forced to leave their homes to run away from the RSF attacks.

15:50Every day there are massacres and martyrs, not just my son and my grandson, every day children die.
15:55What is the fault of the child sleeping next to his father?
15:58Yes, he was born in the war and died in the war, he was only one year and four months old, what did he do to deserve this?
16:05Doctors in Gaza denounced a 40% increase in the number of children killed, a figure that currently exceeds 500 children deaths.
16:14According to reports from Al Nasser Hospital to date, 7,065 children have been maimed, 834 children have suffered amputations and around 500 have died since Israel resumed its attacks on the Palestinian territory in October 2023.

18:38Then, the Vatican would have to beatify him before canonization, which is the last step.
18:44GaudÃ's devotees had requested the Holy See to become him a saint for over 30 years.
18:49They grounded in the fact that the Sagrada Familia great stone works and spires persuaded people to convert to Catholicism.
18:59Moreover, the Gaudà Beatification Society, made up of 80,000 people worldwide, have been praying to GaudÃ, imploring him to perform miracles.
