00:00Dancer cares away, worries for another day.
00:03Here's a look at the brand new Boss Fight Studio, Jim Henson's Fraggle Rock, Gobo.
00:19Gobo is a guitar playing musical Fraggle, a born leader and explorer.
00:24Following in the footsteps of his uncle traveling mad, his adventures take him through the caves
00:28and tunnels of Fraggle Rock, even into the outer space, to retrieve mail from his uncle.
00:32While Matt usually travels alone, Gobo likes to take his friends along, especially with
00:36his best buddy Wembley.
00:38Is that the sound of sprocket I hear?
00:40Let's quickly take the tape measure and see how tall the brand new Boss Fight Studio, Fraggle
00:43Rock, Gobo stands.
00:45A classic of mine growing up as a kid, I know they've rebooted the series, but even as a
00:49kid, I loved Fraggle Rock, and being a Canadian fan myself, it was kind of fun to find out
00:54too that Fraggle Rock was filmed in Toronto, Ontario.
00:56As we go ahead and, like I said, take the tape measure, I did find this one over at Entertainment
01:00Earth, I've actually picked up this one, Traveling Matt and Red, so we will be looking at a whole
01:05bunch of Fraggles in upcoming videos.
01:07Back though to Gobo, he's going to stand at about four and three quarters of an inch in
01:11heights, translating though to a figure that's roughly about eleven and a half centimeters
01:15tall.
01:16I know Gobo's uncle Traveling Matt has spent more time in the outer space than interacting
01:19with humans, but if we were to interact maybe with another license that Boss Fight Studio
01:23has successfully done in the past, here's what Gobo looks like, along with Bluto from the
01:27Popeye Classics line.
01:28And also speaking of Traveling Matt, one of the included accessories for Gobo happens to
01:32be one of Matt's postcards he sends to him.
01:34Before we talk about the postcard, and many of course the other sprinkled Fraggle things,
01:38let's talk about the thing that actually Gobo comes packaged inside.
01:42Boss Fight Studio cleverly decided to use recycled cardboard.
01:46Yeah, it's cardboard.
01:46And yet though, while you look at it, and especially with Gobo still sitting inside of
01:50it, it actually looks like the wall of Fraggle World.
01:53I think that's really awesome, the fact that they decided to make material like this and
01:56reuse a material that makes it look like the inside of Fraggle Rock.
02:00Let's move that off to the side though.
02:02As already though mentioned, Gobo does come include a postcard from Traveling Matt.
02:06I do like that the postcard does have something featured on the front, although most of the
02:10time Traveling Matt usually was wandering around the Straits of Toronto.
02:13In fact, actually, there's a few episodes where Traveling Matt is going inside
02:16of a mall, and I think that's inside the Eaton Center here in Toronto.
02:20While the front of the card though does have a mountain, we don't have mountains here in
02:23Toronto, on the back though of the card, it's unfortunately completely blank.
02:27It would have been nice if they had put in some sort of scripture, something of course
02:30that Gobo would be able to read to him and the rest of the Fraggles.
02:33One of the things, unfortunately though, you probably have already noticed by what's on
02:36my fingers, yeah, a lot of paint seems to come off frequently from these pegs.
02:41Again, the hand can be a kind of swapped out with the existing hand that he has over
02:45here. He only really has one hand, and then of course he already has the existing ones
02:49on the ends of his forearms.
02:50The figure does also come in clue with the Fraggle Lantern.
02:53Now this again can be held in Gobo's hands.
02:55It is actually also a separate piece, so if you wanted to leave it off all together, I
02:58suppose it could also serve as well for a walking stick, or you could also even have
03:02him holding it this way.
03:03For me, at least I'd like to complete the two pieces together and just have the lantern
03:08dangling the way it is right now.
03:10Love that. I think that's really cool.
03:11So the figure does also come in clue with a Fraggle guitar.
03:14Oh, there's more of the settled paints on my fingers.
03:17It comes with the Fraggle guitar.
03:19The way that the guitar actually sits, you more or less would want to have it sitting
03:23around the front of the figure's body like this.
03:25I mean, you could also have it off to the side as well.
03:28Obviously, you're going to have to want to really get it around his arms as well.
03:31The one problem I have kind of with Gobo, and I'll kind of say this really early on,
03:34is that this one arm seems to pop off frequently.
03:37I'm giving you full disclosure ahead of time because I know it's probably going to fall
03:40off a couple of times. This arm's not so bad, but this arm right here, well, you'll see
03:44it in a second.
03:45So the guitar itself is nicely painted.
03:47The handle itself doesn't move or anything like that.
03:48It's molded completely in place.
03:51The figure does also come in with an alternate head portrait also as well.
03:54This alternate head also does have a little bit of a different expression for Gobo, and
03:58it does, of course, have the hat on the back.
04:00The hat is in removal.
04:01It's part of, of course, the total package.
04:04And, of course, he also comes in clue with radishes.
04:05Fraggles do love their radishes.
04:07They also seem to like to eat doozor parts when they're building the cities.
04:11And I think, from what I remember, it tastes like mustard.
04:13Of course, having the included radishes, a nice little touch.
04:16Like I said, we will be also looking at Traveling Matt and Red as well.
04:19I don't know if any of the other ones, I haven't really had a lot of time to look at the packaging.
04:23I don't know if they also come in clue with radishes.
04:25Hmm, radishes.
04:27On to then Gobo himself.
04:29Okay, so we've already kind of discussed the one issue I have with this figure,
04:32is that this arm here falls off frequently.
04:34You can probably already see the type of peg I have to contend with.
04:37It's quite small.
04:39And it only plugs into, obviously, this one little hole into the socket of his shoulder.
04:43He also has a vest, which I suppose if you wanted to, if you took the arm off completely,
04:46you could take the vest off completely.
04:48And you would just have Gobo without that.
04:50I mean, obviously, I would like to have the vest completely on him.
04:53The vest, though, does cause some conflict.
04:55Because the way it actually sits, it doesn't sit far enough forward.
04:59That maybe that's causing also issues when it comes to plugging the arms back in place.
05:03But again, like, there's the small little peg we have to work with.
05:06There's the hole right there.
05:07Every time that I think that I have this in place,
05:10and also even when I removed Gobo from the packaging, the arm popped off right away.
05:14It's not broken.
05:16Not at all, in fact.
05:18It's just one of the things that, unfortunately, as I, again,
05:20I'm going to be moving the figure around, moving his arms around,
05:22this arm is going to probably come off a couple more times.
05:25Defaulted head sculpt that we get out of the packaging does, in fact, look a lot like Gobo.
05:29So, I'm surprised, actually, that they went with a more smoother plastic for his face,
05:33his hands, and down below, and his legs.
05:35When, of course, when he's made of being a puppet material,
05:37I would like to have thought that they could have gone in there
05:39and made kind of the material kind of more textured.
05:42Not too much, where it would look just too much of an eyesore.
05:46But if they, like, having it smooth like this,
05:48it kind of looks less really like an actual Muppet.
05:51And I suppose maybe the intended plan was they wanted to make it look more like the actual Fraggles.
05:55Maybe that's the idea.
05:57But the head sculpt looks really good.
05:58I have no issues at all with the head sculpt.
06:00I also like the way they painted the sleeves.
06:02Like, the paintwork on this piece is fantastic.
06:04You can see, like, even on the back,
06:06he's got a couple of Traveling Matt's postcards on the back.
06:08Looks like he's also got a bracelet there in his pocket.
06:11Another couple of postcards also, as well.
06:13He, like, Traveling Matt for him,
06:15Gobo always thought of him as a hero.
06:17Of course, he does also have the scarf, too.
06:18Now, the scarf is a separate piece.
06:20I was actually kind of surprised to see that.
06:21I thought they would have just simply molded it to the front of his torso.
06:23So, down below, of course, we've got ourselves the Fraggle legs
06:26and the Fraggle tail, the classic tail on the back of his body.
06:29It almost does seem like it would have a wire built into it,
06:32and it doesn't look like it's the case at all.
06:35There's a little bit of flexibility to it,
06:37but it's more just to the material that they ended up using.
06:39Luckily, though, there is some posability,
06:41so you can easily rotate the tail back and forth.
06:43I don't know if I would say...
06:44I mean, it's on a good ball joint.
06:46I mean, you're not really going to be able to move...
06:47It's not like you're going to turn the tail around
06:49because it's only just going to be getting in the way.
06:50I think most people probably would either have the tail up like this
06:53or just slightly a little bit more relaxed.
06:56Now, for Gobo's articulation.
06:57Now, I know that this is probably going to result in this arm coming off,
07:00but the head is going to be on a ball joint.
07:02Yeah, it's going to rotate all the way around.
07:03The one thing about it, though, is as it's rotating,
07:06it's going to also rotate the collar piece,
07:08and it's also going to turn the tie.
07:10So, you may want to kind of hold the tie.
07:12Turn the tie? No, turn the tie without the D.
07:16Hold the tie, and then you'd be able to move the head freely back and forth.
07:18It does move up and down only by just a little bit,
07:21and Gobo does also have a head rock back and forth as well.
07:25As for the arms, I have a little no issues on this side of the arm.
07:28The arm move rotates all the way around,
07:30and it also hinges out at a full T pose.
07:32This arm, on the other hand, though, does, again, when you move it around it...
07:36I don't know if you have had the chance to pick up Gobo.
07:39Let me know if your arm seems to have the same sort of problems.
07:42But again, that just, again, plugs in place.
07:44There is a hinge joint, and the hinge joint does successfully work.
07:47I just wish, though, that Peg allowed this to stay properly into the socket of his shoulder.
07:52He has a bend in the elbow, and that's the case, obviously, on both sides.
07:55The hands also rotate all the way around.
07:57You can hinge them back and forth, too.
08:00The figure does also have a waist swivel.
08:02Seems also like it's potentially a ball joint,
08:04although the ball joint doesn't really move up and down all that much.
08:07He certainly does have, though, ball joints in his legs,
08:09and you can get about that far of a split for Gobo.
08:12The leg moves forward, only by just a little bit, though.
08:15You can also move it back.
08:16He has a single hinge in the knee.
08:17I did notice, though, that the knees are really tight on Gobo,
08:20but the lower leg does also rotate.
08:23There goes the arm.
08:24The ankle rocks back and forth, and it does move up and also up and down.
08:27The figure doesn't, while not having it included in a display stand,
08:31Gobo does, though, have peg holes in the bottoms of his feet.
08:33So if you want to have the figure displayed on a display stand,
08:36you can certainly go with that route.
08:38Yeah, Gobo's a nice-looking figure.
08:39Let's go ahead and actually, you know what, while we're doing this, too.
08:41So let's take the hand off, and we'll replace it with Traveling Matt's postcard hand.
08:46Again, we'll just plug it in place.
08:47Yeah, paint will be coming off a couple of times.
08:50Don't be too surprised to see that.
08:53You know, also, while we're at it, too.
08:54There goes the arm.
08:55While we're also at it, too, let's go ahead and take the head off.
08:57The head just detaches from the ball joint.
09:00And again, really, you could take this off, too.
09:02I don't know why you would really want to take that off.
09:04So let's go ahead and take, then, the alternate head sculpt, and we'll just plug it back onto the ball joint.
09:10Other than really just the one issue I have with the ball joint on the shoulders not properly,
09:14or the peg joint not properly working, and also getting this head in place.
09:19I may even, in fact, have to go and heat this up.
09:20You can see I've done this already once, but I may have to even heat this again to heat that,
09:24just to make sure that the head attaches properly, just so that Gobo isn't decapitated.
09:29Let's go ahead and pop the original head sculpt in place.
09:31We'll pop the original, obviously, the only other arm that he has.
09:35We'll pop that also in place.
09:36Yeah, Gobo's a nice-looking figure.
09:37The only one real issue that I have, and I don't know if I can fix that by heating.
09:42I can obviously fix changing out the head sculpt with a little bit of heat.
09:45But I can't do that, though, with his arm.
09:47His arm just being such a small peg.
09:49And even really when you look at the hole as well, when it's on his torso,
09:53it's a little off to the far corner.
09:55So, like, plugging the arm seems to be in place.
09:57It succeeds until you start to move the arm.
10:00And then the moment that you do, it seems to come off.
10:02It doesn't happen at all on this side.
10:04It only seems to happen on this side.
10:06And I don't know if I'm just the rare case where my Gobo can't seem to keep his arm on.
10:10I'm sure during the adventures of unboxing Gobo from his cardboard tray,
10:13you probably had asked yourself, where were all the extra accessories stored?
10:17Humble the reviewer, we only saw the Fraggle Lantern.
10:19We only saw Gobo.
10:20Where was everything else stored?
10:22In between the cardboard tray and the back of the box, there was also a Ziploc bag.
10:25The Ziploc bag then contained the traveling mat, postcard, hand, the alternate head sculpt,
10:30the guitar, and the radish.
10:32Anybody that's picked up any of the Fraggle Rock figures will also know that as well.
10:36I have swapped everything out in favor of all the other extra goodies.
10:39So now, of course, Gobo does have a little more of a serious look on his face.
10:43I hope he's okay.
10:44Of course, with the toque on the back of his head.
10:45Does anybody really call the hats toques?
10:47Or if it's only just us Canadians?
10:49Of course, he does have the traveling mat, postcard, and hand.
10:51That's not a hard thing at all to change.
10:53And then, of course, he does also have his guitar.
10:54The guitar, I suppose you probably could have that sitting around the back of the figure's body.
10:59I mean, for me, at least, I probably won't end up displaying it at all with Gobo.
11:03I think when it comes to putting this guy on the shelf, which I almost definitely will be doing,
11:07Gobo likely will have the traveling mat, postcard, hand, maybe then the walking stick with the lantern,
11:12and then the original head sculpt for Gobo, because I think it's the better of the two.
11:16I am certainly looking forward to opening up the unboxing of Uncle Traveling Mat,
11:20and, of course, also Red.
11:21There's also, as well, Cotterpin and Architect, two goobers, doozers, doozers,
11:27that we will be also looking at in upcoming reviews.
11:29If you guys are interested, are interested, and would like to get Gobo,
11:33or any of the other new Boss Fight Studio Fraggle Rock figures,
11:36I did actually pick this one up at Entertainment Earth.
11:38Not a bad price either.
11:39I think they were like $25, maybe a little less than $20 a piece.
11:42And again, for that, you're getting decent-looking figures.
11:44Boss Fight really always knock it out of the park when it comes to whatever licensing that they've done.
11:48And so far, what licenses that they've handled were all ones that I'm familiar with as a kid.
11:54I mean, Popeye, Strawberry Shortcake, and now Fraggle Rock.
11:58What do you guys think of Gobo?
11:59Let me know down below in the comments section.
12:01Have you guys had the chance to pick up any of the new Fraggle Rock figures?
