00:00The Petaling Jaya Sessions Court was informed on Monday that no foreign DNA was found in
00:07the anus of the late Zayn Ryan Abdul-Matin. ASP Mohammed Hafizi Ismail, a former senior
00:14investigating officer at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters and currently an operations
00:19intelligence CID officer at the South Klang IPD, stated that the analysis of the specimen
00:26swabbed from the deceased revealed only his DNA. On the 17th day of the trial against the boy's
00:33parents, who are facing neglect charges, the 28th prosecution witness also noted other visible
00:39injuries on the deceased, which included bruising and signs of strangulation on the neck.
00:45In an earlier hearing, Dr. Siti Rohayu, who conducted the post-mortem examination on Zayn Ryan,
00:51confirmed that the cause of death was strangulation, not drowning. ASP Mohammed Hafizi also told the
00:58court that he observed signs of tearing around the anal region, believed to be caused by a blunt
01:03object as well as the presence of foreign objects in the bronchus and stomach. An initial report from
01:09a chemist confirmed that the foreign object found in the deceased's bronchus was a type of pulai leaf.
01:15Based on this information, ASP Mohammed Hafizi inspected the crime scene and found a pulai tree
01:23about 10 meters from where the boy's body was found. At the deceased's residence in Damansara Damai,
01:30the officer said he spotted a pair of black shoes with mud stains next to the refrigerator. He instructed
01:37the forensics team to mark the shoes and directed the assigned photographer to take pictures. He also
01:43ordered the forensic unit to collect soil samples from the area where the deceased was found for
01:49submission to the chemistry department for analysis. The trial continues.
