00:00Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04There's been quite a bit of rain around for many of us on Easter Monday, but that is going to be clearing its way northwards
00:09with dry conditions appearing overnight, all thanks to this very brief ridge of high pressure through Monday evening and into the start of Tuesday.
00:15But it doesn't last long, another air of low pressure arriving across the western parts of the UK,
00:20slipping its way south and eastwards as we go towards the middle part of the week.
00:24Then further areas of low pressure are waiting in the wings towards the second half of the week,
00:28so generally staying quite changeable and unsettled as we head towards next weekend.
00:33Before we get there, though, back to the rest of this evening.
00:35And that weather front we've seen through today continues to push its way north and eastwards,
00:39bringing a legacy of some clouds, some abrasive rain to much of Scotland and northern England through Monday night and into the start of Tuesday.
00:46Elsewhere, well, we have seen some showers across parts of Northern Ireland, central northern parts of England.
00:51Those showers gradually easing overnight, so turning much drier.
00:53There's plenty of clear spells to start the day on Tuesday for much of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
00:59Where we do see those clear spells, it could turn quite chilly, perhaps a touch of frost in some prone rural spots,
01:05maybe even some mist and fog forming as well.
01:07But generally staying just that little bit milder across the very far northeast
01:10where we hold on to the legacy of that cloud and the outbreaks of rain into the start of Tuesday.
01:15So quite a damp start across the very far northeast of Scotland.
01:18Elsewhere, though, once any early mist and fog has cleared quickly through the morning,
01:22it'll be a dry, bright and pleasant start to the morning.
01:24Plenty of blue skies on offer.
01:26Where we do see the sunshine, though, likely to see some showers bubbling up through the afternoon.
01:30One or two of these could be heavy, but on the whole, they'll be much lighter and generally more scattered than we saw on Monday.
01:36Then all eyes out towards the west as we see this weather front arriving across Northern Ireland,
01:40bringing some perhaps quite heavy rainfall to western parts of Northern Ireland through the afternoon
01:45and feeling quite a bit cooler here, too, with a brisk southerly wind.
01:48But further south, further east, where we do see that sunshine, highs of 17, 18, perhaps 19 degrees.
01:53So feeling really quite pleasant where you do catch that sunshine.
01:57As we then go through Tuesday evening, that weather front that we see across Northern Ireland
02:01continues to push its way eastwards and then slip south and eastwards overnight Tuesday
02:05and into the start of Wednesday.
02:08Any showers that we see across much of England and Wales will gradually ease overnight,
02:11so turning drier across the very far east.
02:13Probably Scotland holding on to the best of any clear spells away from the very far northeast
02:17where we do still see some cloud and outbreaks of rain.
02:19And under those clear skies, again, we could see the odd touch of frost possible,
02:23perhaps some mist and fog in places.
02:25But further south, where we hold on to that cloud and some outbreaks of rain,
02:28it's going to be a bit milder here.
02:30Temperatures generally holding up into the high single figures,
02:32but as I say, perhaps just a touch chilly under those clear skies further north.
02:37So for much of England and Wales, a bit of a cloudier
02:39and quite a damp start to the day on Wednesday compared to what we saw on Tuesday.
02:43That rain eventually clears its way towards the southeast,
02:46breaking up and turning quite showery through the afternoon.
02:49But it's going to be Scotland, northern parts of England,
02:51Northern Ireland that see the best of the sunshine on Wednesday.
02:53Again, some showers bubbling up, particularly for Scotland.
02:56These could be a bit heavier than what we saw on Tuesday.
02:58For much of England and Wales, it will be turning a little bit drier,
03:01albeit staying quite cloudy through the afternoon.
03:03And with an easterly breeze, we could see some low cloud, mist, fog,
03:07some sea fret or haar just lingering across eastern coast through the afternoon,
03:11so feeling just a little bit cooler here.
03:13Temperatures on the whole will be down a touch on Wednesday
03:15compared to what we saw on Tuesday, 15, 16, perhaps 17 degrees in the south
03:20and 12 to 14 degrees further north.
03:23It's going to stay quite unsettled as we head towards the middle and end of next week,
