00:00So let's get right to it. We'll start off with some non-sports wagering stories today, but in this wild world of the NIL deals, it looks like the NCAA has a way to pay players directly for their name, image, and likeness.
00:13This is something that hasn't happened in the past. The NCAA board has proposed nine legislative changes that will aim at transforming how college athletics operates, and a key proposal allows schools to pay players, including the NIL deals, and the changes are tied to a broader settlement that's expected to be finalized by July the 1st.
00:33The NCAA also plans to eliminate scholarship limits by allowing full scholarships, all athletes on a declared roster, which could increase the number of scholarships available, especially in women's sports.
00:46By the way, this could include a cap of sorts, $20.5 million that they could offer athletes aligning with this settlement.
00:53All Division I schools are not going to adopt this new model, but it certainly is possible that many do, so we'll keep an eye on that.
00:59You may remember this sports betting story about this sports bookie, as they say, that was betting over at BetMGM.
01:07Well, they've reached a $8.5 million settlement with the Nevada Gaming Control Board after it was found that they violated anti-money laundering regulations by permitting illegal bookmakers to gamble at their properties,
01:19stemming from actions taken under former MGM Grand President Scott Sabella, and other MGM employees were aware of activities by Wayne Nix, a former bookmaker.
01:31Also, the MGM Grand and the Cosmopolitan were two operations that were named in the suit.
01:38The Clippers and Nuggets yesterday went down to the wire once again, but it was vintage Kawhi Leonard that led the Clippers to get the win.
01:46In 39 points on 15 of 19 shooting, the Nuggets had a couple of chances late to tie the game, but they missed three-pointers.
01:55Nikola Jokic had a triple-double, 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, but Denver couldn't get past the amount of turnovers they had in this game, folks.
02:05It was 20, the same number that the Clippers had in Game 1.
02:08So now the series is tied, and Kawhi Leonard looks like he's back to his old self, winning championships.
02:15Can he do it with the Clippers?
02:16Last night said it was really important to get that win.
02:20I think I made shots tonight, shot a little bit more than I did last game, but it wasn't about that.
02:27You know what I mean?
02:28Some of my turnovers last game were just being aggressive and, you know, trying to save the ball or getting rebounds, getting pushed out of bounds.
02:35So, I mean, the one that stuck out to me was this, obviously, up one and getting it tipped off my hit, but it was just a great defense by them.
02:46So, I just wanted to come out and get a win.
02:48Can you kind of take us through the final sequence where you guys get the ball back, don't call a timeout, and just try to get the ball up and get it through as quickly as possible?
02:56I mean, it was good.
02:57I think it was good, especially in those situations.
02:59If you can advance the ball, I think that's the right call, just because probably if we call a timeout, they had a foul to give.
03:09So, are we going to really have a lot of time?
03:12So, I think we had a CB miss.
03:15Maybe I should give to Jamal.
03:17He had, like, a momentum.
03:19But in those situations, it's really hard to think about.
03:22It's not a series until the road game wins, as we see last night in L.A.
03:28And also, guess who else?
03:29The Detroit Pistons.
03:31They go to New York and tie the series last night 100-94.
03:35It's the Pistons' first playoff win, folks, since May 26, 2008.
03:42Cade Cunningham, another huge game for Detroit.
03:4533 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 assists.
03:49Jalen Brunson did have 37-7-3 in the loss.
03:54The Knicks did come back late, but the Detroit Pistons are now going back home with a chance to take over this series.
04:02Can they get it done?
04:03J.B. Bickerstaff, head coach of Detroit, hopes so.
04:06Yeah, it's the makeup of the men in the locker room, right?
04:09Like, we don't have guys who give in.
04:12We don't have guys who make excuses.
04:14We just have guys that show up every single day and lay it on the line for one another.
04:18And that's all you can ask for.
04:20You know, it's a special group when, to a man, they don't want to let each other down.
04:26And so they're not going to let their own personal feelings get in the way of the job that they need to do for their teammate, for their brother.
04:33So, you know, that's just who we are.
04:35And we're fortunate to have, you know, guys with that type of character and that type of spirit.
04:39Can you assess what you saw from Jalen tonight?
04:42You know, same, you know, like, he battled like crazy.
04:47You know, there was a physicality.
04:49You know, like, I want to take a look at, you know, obviously, huge discrepancy in free throws.
04:53Huge.
04:54Huge.
04:54So I got to take a look at that.
04:56Right?
04:57So, you know, I don't understand, you know, how on one side, you know, you talk about the direct line drives.
05:04The guy's getting fouled and it's not being called.
05:07Right?
05:08So, and look, I really don't give a crap how they call the game as long as it's consistent on both sides.
05:14So if Cunningham's driving and there's marginal contact and he's getting to the line, then Jalen deserves to be getting to the line.
05:20It's really that simple.
05:21Incoming fine, I see, for Coach Tibbs here for the New York Knicks.
05:26Meanwhile, no fines for their general manager in Atlanta because they're looking for a new one.
05:32They fired GM Landry Fields on Monday, promoted Ansi Salah to fill the position.
05:38Looks like this could be a permanent move, although you never know.
05:41It is the Atlanta Hawks.
05:42Also, Spencer Strider of the Atlanta Braves just came back after missing a full season with surgery and now is headed back to the injured list.
05:52He was placed on the 15-day IL with a strained hamstring.
05:55So, Strider out again for at least a couple of weeks.
05:59All right, let's get to the Stanley Cup playoffs.
06:02Alex Ovechkin scores his first playoff goal.
06:04It's in overtime.
06:05The Caps beat the Canadians 3-2 in Game 1.
06:09Ovechkin scored two goals that also included the game winner in overtime.
06:15Basically, Ovechkin has been phenomenal for the Caps thus far and even got the game winner.
06:21And he talked about the final shot last night.
06:24As much as you've accomplished in your life, it's hard to believe this is your first playoff overtime goal.
06:30Just describe that feeling and what took place.
06:34Goal to goal.
06:35It doesn't matter in the playoffs and especially in the OT, it doesn't matter who scored.
06:41I think it gives you confidence.
06:47Can you just take us through the winning goal?
06:49What did also, what did Bovee add to your line tonight the way he was with you two?
06:53Yeah, I think it was a great play by Stromer when the face-up was kind of a little scrum.
07:03But we have a first shot and then he tried to find matter and good things happen when you go to the night.
07:10L.A. Kings, Edmonton, Oilers, Kings go up by four goals.
07:15Edmonton storms back.
07:17But L.A. ends up winning the final 6-5.
07:20Philip Dano end up having the final goal.
07:23Colin Blackwell scored in overtime.
07:25The Stars beat the Avalanche 4-3.
07:27They've tied the series at one.
07:29And Winnipeg's had a great season and that continues.
07:31They take a 2-0 series lead over the St. Louis Blues with a 2-1 win last night.
07:38Light schedule in Major League Baseball, a career game for Marlins pitcher Max Meyer,
07:43who struck out 14 batters, which is the most in any game in the majors this season.
07:48As Miami beat Cincinnati 6-3, the Reds scored 24 runs the day before.
07:54Gleyber Torres, Zach McKinstry get three hits.
07:56The Tigers beat the Padres 6-4.
07:58Detroit's playing well.
08:00They've won four games out of their last five.
08:02The Braves were down big to the St. Louis Cardinals,
08:04but they come all the way back, scoring five runs in the eighth inning to beat St. Louis.
08:09Final score 7-6.
08:11And Wilmer Flores, what a season he is having for the Giants.
08:14They go ahead home run.
08:15Jung Ho Lee also had an RBI triple.
08:17And the Giants beat the Brewers by a final of 5-2.
08:21T continuer to bathe the for the Giants.
08:22Got it.
08:24Jung Ho Lee also had a series of reasons for the Giants she described as aождения and a
08:28full filmber.
08:29But let's go ahead.
08:31I hope this will be rallying up.
08:33But I have a lot working on set of parts I get this one in the Kiева.
08:33If you're a fancier on the Likewise, the Giants has the discouraging he saying Nick food ETF
08:37will be responsible for calendar ten of the팩ous.
08:38That means it must be a big hit.
08:39I hope this is at lack of an interesting point sevenư, what a season of having transferred
08:40to the consider and impressing the gift.
08:41Ellie and tips you can figure out the opportunity to get intoowle.
08:41It will be slighted as it won the number of 2020.
08:44And here live today.
08:45It's kind of réuss if you can do bad.
