00:00you know tough times all around a lot of people losing their jobs even Santa Claus
00:10the guy who's played Santa Claus in Massachusetts at the Plymouth Thanksgiving parade says he learned
00:16out from Facebook he learned learned out I don't know what I meant to say oh my goodness it wasn't
00:22that learned from Facebook yeah that someone else got the gig devastating for Santa his story now from
00:32NBC 10 Santa Claus may be coming to town but it was a different one that showed up in Plymouth over
00:40the weekend I was all set to go all sight and everything suits all clean Frank McKenna was
00:48about to suit up as Santa for this year's Plymouth Thanksgiving parade on Saturday I was already
00:53up till Thursday night and then my bubble busted it would have been his third year in the starring
00:59role but two days before the event he saw on Facebook another man posting that he'd be riding
01:06the big red sleigh just said something like there's a new Santa in town the 72 year old was heartbroken
01:14it was an embarrassing thing he must be in a Santa Facebook group told all these people oh yeah I'm
01:19the Santa in the parade and I guess not in a statement America's hometown Thanksgiving parade
01:26organizers said they never heard from Frank this season and brought in someone else writing in a
01:31statement in the last six years we've featured four different volunteer Santas on our float we
01:37appreciate all of the volunteers that make our event such a success the thing that made me angry
01:43was not being told you know I didn't like that at all Frank hopes it really was just miscommunication
01:53he's been playing st. Nick for years at countless holiday events but this one was one of his biggest
01:59shows it's just mind-boggling that people are actually looking and like my wife said Frank they're
02:09really not cheering for you they're cheering for Santa he posted about losing the top job and was so
02:15grateful that dozens of people replied it wouldn't be the same without him that was incredible so instead
02:21of shining in the parade Frank sat back and watched it on television it rained that day and Frank admits
02:28that made him a little bit jolly commas there this isn't the end of the season for he'd love that it rained on the kids
02:36this is everything I love about Christmas I'm glad it was ruined your Christmas dreams his wife had to be like you're not Santa Claus yeah shut up bitch
02:58you're not they're cheering for Santa Claus you're cheering for this guy you're a volunteer they don't even know who you are you gotta relax you take the hat off you look like Edgar Winner
03:09and then when you put your alligator hunting hat on you look like an alligator hunter retired shut up you're not Santa
03:22nobody even knows your name
03:26I mean I don't know how many people have a job where it's like every single year you just assume you're doing something
03:43yeah you know like there generally is some kind of communication that would happen yeah to be like
03:51right hey next uh next year we got you like next year you're in type of thing like if you don't hear
03:58anything you can't wait for three days out I want to hear him reveling in the rain that day and Frank
04:04admits that made him a little bit jolly commas there this isn't the end of the season for Frank he's fully
04:13booked until Christmas Day he'll be appearing as Santa at close to 20 events through the holiday
04:19yeah that's a real thing he's gonna say karma's a bitch
04:22yeah made to cut him off
04:24karma's there
04:26yeah that's just so crazy
04:28he takes it seriously I think I think that becomes a lot of those old old timers identities when they do that
04:35oh I think so yeah absolutely that's he probably did look forward to it all year right
04:39that's as he said the big show
04:41yep the big show
04:42but he's booked everywhere else
04:43yeah but not the parade
