00:00Today, one of Rupert's friends gets the letters muddled in Rupert and the Good Deed.
00:16There's a little bear that you've never seen before, who's a lot of fun.
00:23Children everywhere, go to love him more and more, he's the number one.
00:30There's a million stories to be told of the things that he's done, and he's going to share them all with you, so come along.
00:44Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone sing his name.
00:51Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone come and join.
00:57In all of these days.
01:05It's a beautiful sunny morning, and Mr Bear is busy writing some letters.
01:10Rupert is just thinking of going out in his magic chariot to find some chums to play with.
01:15I'm just off, Dad, to play on the common, says Rupert.
01:19Oh, if you're going out, would you take these two letters?
01:23Yes, of course, Dad. I'll drop them in the pillar box, interrupts Rupert.
01:28Are they stamped?
01:30Not so fast.
01:32Look, one envelope is stamped, and is to be put into the post box.
01:36But the other envelope is to be delivered by hand to number 18, Scrub Lane.
01:43Oh, good.
01:44That's near the common, where I'm going.
01:47Yes, it's to a friend of mine.
01:48I've really left it too late to post, and it's important he gets it today.
01:53It's as good as there. I'll go in my chariot.
01:58Hello, Rupert. Going my way, calls Pudgy Pig, licking a lollipop.
02:04If Scrub Lane is your way, yes, I am.
02:06I've got a letter for somebody there.
02:09Oh, yes. I'll come with you.
02:11Then perhaps we can play on the common afterwards.
02:13Jump in, then.
02:14Oh, Pudgy, take that lollipop out of my ear. It's sticky.
02:19Oh, sorry. I'll give you a lick later.
02:22No, thank you. I've just had my breakfast, replies Rupert, as they fly off to Scrub Lane.
02:29Can I put it through the letterbox? asks Pudgy.
02:32Well, if...
02:33Rupert is interrupted by Pudgy snatching the letter out of his hand.
02:37Wait a minute, he calls.
02:39But Pudgy puts it through the letterbox of the nearest house.
02:42Oh, no.
02:44Oh, exclaims Rupert.
02:45Do you know what you've done, Pudgy?
02:48No.
02:49You've put the stacked letter through the letterbox.
02:52Rupert shows his chum the other letter.
02:54This is the one that should be in that letterbox.
02:57Oh, Pudgy.
02:59I'm sorry. What are you going to do?
03:02Well, get it back, of course.
03:04How?
03:05Come on. There's only one thing to do.
03:07That's to ring the bell and ask for the letter back.
03:10And then I can give Dad's friend his letter.
03:12Rupert and Pudgy knock at the front door.
03:16There's no answer.
03:18There can't be anyone at home, says Rupert, still knocking on the door.
03:22Look, Rupert. There's a bell. Can you reach it?
03:25Just about. I'll give it a good long ring.
03:31There's nobody at home.
03:34What shall we do, asks Pudgy, still licking his lolly.
03:37I've got to get that letter back. It's important.
03:42Let me see.
03:44Rupert takes a piece of string from his pocket.
03:47What do you want that for?
03:49Lend me your lolly, Pudgy. I've got a good idea.
03:52You will give it back to me?
03:55He's not too keen on the idea.
03:57Of course I'll give it back.
03:58After having several licks, Pudgy hands Rupert his lolly.
04:03Now what? He asks.
04:05I'll tie one end of the string to the stick of your lolly, explains Rupert carefully.
04:11It'll never taste the same.
04:13Of course it will. Better, in fact.
04:16Now, let me think for a moment.
04:17Ah, yes. I know.
04:20Next, I'll lower the lolly through the letterbox.
04:25Now, I'll pull it gently up.
04:30Oh, I think it's coming, says Pudgy excitedly.
04:33Yes, it's working.
04:36I've got the lolly, and the letter is stuck to it.
04:41Don't breathe, Rupert.
04:43And now, to get it through the letterbox.
04:47Ah, here it is, he sighs, pulling the letter off the lolly.
04:55Here you are, Pudgy. As good as new.
04:59How can you say that?
05:00Why, it's got pieces of mat stuck to it. Look.
05:04He shows Rupert.
05:06I'm sorry, but I had to think of something.
05:08And you must admit, my idea was jolly good.
05:12I suppose so. Now what?
05:14Rupert looks at the number on the envelope, and then the house number.
05:19Do you know, Pudgy, we're at the wrong house anyway.
05:23Ah, look, here's a pillar box. I'll put the proper letter in.
05:26There, that's gone, says Rupert.
05:30Come on, we'd better get this one sorted out now.
05:34Can we take the chariot? asks Pudgy, hopefully, as they walk away.
05:37No, it's only a few doors down, so we can...
05:40What's that?
05:43There on the ground is a broken cup, amongst shattered window glass.
05:48Oh, oh, where did that come from? asks Pudgy, also looking round.
05:55It's been thrown through an upstairs window.
05:58Let's go back to that house.
06:00To the one that we couldn't get any answer from, asks Pudgy, a little bit frightened.
06:05Yes, hurry up.
06:07When they get outside the house, they hear a call coming from the window above.
06:13Help! Help!
06:15How can I get into the house? shouts Rupert, hoping that the person in the room will hear him.
06:24The back door is unlocked, replies a man's voice from the upstairs window.
06:31Rupert gets to the back and hurries upstairs to a room from where he thinks the cry for help came.
06:36I'm trying to open the door, but it's stuck, shouts Rupert.
06:48I'm locking it, and I can't move. I'm hurt.
06:54What's happened? asks Rupert.
06:57I fell off the ladder.
07:00Don't worry. I'll be with you as quick as I can, remarks Rupert, hurrying to the front of the house.
07:05What's wrong? asks Pudgy.
07:10I could hear you talking to somebody.
07:12There's a man hurt in that room upstairs, and I can't open the door.
07:16I'll get my chariot. We'll have to rescue him.
07:19Poor man. Though he's lucky we came along.
07:23I suppose so. Hurry up, Pudgy. Jump in the chariot.
07:26They rise up to the window height.
07:32Now they see the old man's plight, for he is lying on the floor, and nobody can move the door.
07:40The chariot will stay outside the window while we go in to see what's wrong with the man, explains Rupert.
07:45Oh, I hope I won't fall. I don't like heights.
07:49You'll be all right. Follow me.
07:51Rupert opens the window and climbs into the room.
07:56The room is half decorated.
07:58There's a ladder on the floor by the side of the man who is lying against the door.
08:03Quick, Pudgy. Let's help him to his feet, suggests Rupert.
08:07Oh, thank you.
08:09It feels as though I've broken my leg, moans the man.
08:13Oh, I hope not.
08:15Oh, I can hardly move him, says Pudgy.
08:18There. We've made it.
08:22If you can help me over to that chair, perhaps I can see what damage I've done, explains the man.
08:30Together the two chums get the man across to a chair.
08:33Oh, oh, that's better.
08:36I twisted my foot as I fell.
08:39I'll make an emergency trip with you to the doctors in my chariot, offers Rupert.
08:43Lean on Pudgy and me, sir.
08:44Tling-a-ling-ling, the warning bell goes.
08:53They fly to the place Rupert well knows.
08:55The chums in the chariot are taking the man to the doctors now as fast as they can.
09:00They hope his injury's not too bad.
09:03Then off to deliver the letter for Dad.
09:05Mr. Bear's friend takes the letter.
09:13Oh, thank you. I've been expecting this.
09:16I'm sorry for the delay, but I had to help somebody.
09:20Rupert explains all about the man who's had the accident.
09:23Oh, that's Mr. Brown.
09:25You say he's at the doctor's now, asks Mr. Bear's friend.
09:29Yes, sir.
09:30Tell you what I'll do.
09:31I'll go along to his house and finish the decorating for him.
09:35That'll be super.
09:36I won't say a word.
09:38We'll let it be a secret.
09:41When Mr. Brown calls to thank Rupert, Mrs. Bear asks him to stay to tea.
09:46Did you break any bones, sir?
09:48Asks Rupert.
09:49No, thank goodness.
09:51It's just a bad sprain.
09:52Do have another cake, says Mrs. Bear to the man.
09:56Oh, thank you, replies Pudgy.
09:59I've only been kept alive on a lollipop all day.
10:02Mummy wasn't asking you, Pudgy.
10:05Oh, sorry.
10:06Never mind, Pudgy.
10:08I've got plenty more here.
10:10I don't know when I shall get round to decorating that room now, sighs the man.
10:15Oh, I shouldn't worry about that, sir, laughs Rupert.
