00:00Hi, my name is Holly Olden and I'm the food and drink writer for National World and today I am
00:04going to be taste testing Costa's brand new lavender iced whipped latte. Now I absolutely
00:11love an iced coffee especially at this time of year when it's really warm outside and you need
00:17something to cool you down. I've had many different variations of iced lattes over the years however
00:22one I've never tried a whipped iced latte and two I've certainly never tried a lavender iced latte.
00:30Now the term whipped actually really intrigues me and makes me think I'm gonna like it. It gives
00:36the idea that this iced latte is going to be a lot creamier than the usual and that is something I
00:42am definitely on board with. When it comes to lavender I absolutely love the scent of it. I've
00:49got room sprays, I've got perfumes, I've got so many other things that are lavender scented however I've
00:54never tasted lavender and I feel like it's going to be a little bit marmite. I'm either
00:59going to absolutely love it or absolutely hate it. Well we're going to find out as as I said I've headed
01:05to Costa a day to try their brand new lavender iced whipped latte and here it is. Now it looks absolutely
01:14delicious it looks just as creamy as described however I can see the lavender in the bottom of
01:21it and I was expecting it to be a little bit more purple. I actually watched Costa make this and
01:28what they did was they put the lavender pumps in the bottom. I think it was called vanilla lavender
01:35so I'm assuming that there will be a lot of vanilla notes in this which again I am a fan of before adding
01:42the rest of the drink and yeah I'm very excited to try this so let's just go in for a sip.
01:53Wow I really like that it's very sweet and I don't know why but I wasn't really expecting that. You can
02:00definitely taste the creaminess that the whip suggests which is a big thumbs up from me. Very
02:05very milky but incredibly nice. You almost can't taste any coffee however again I'm not too bothered
02:13about that although I absolutely love coffee I don't love a super strong coffee so again that is
02:19another good point. It also reminds me a little bit of milkshake the sort of creaminess and also the
02:27sweetness to it is very very milkshakey however it isn't sickly sweet which sometimes milkshakes can be
02:35it's actually got the perfect balance. I would say I am very very impressed with this and you know
02:42what it is not something I would ever ever order normally so if I'm going to go into Costa and say
02:47that they have lavender whipped ice latte on the menu I'm just not going to pick it because I would
02:53just automatically think lavender absolutely not. If they had something else like a caramel version I
02:59would be more inclined to go towards that but this is proof that I definitely need to step out my
03:04comfort zone a lot more because this is absolutely delicious.
