00:00Up until now, things have been going incredibly well for Mark Scaife in championship terms.
00:07Could this be an awful turning point for him?
00:10Garth Tander was the winner in race one.
00:12A couple of other standouts for you.
00:14Glenn Seaton equals his best effort of the year with that second place.
00:17Paul Radisic from 12th to 7th.
00:19Stephen Johnson 24th to 14th.
00:21Stephen Richards 7th to 20th.
00:24And Mark Scaife, of course, going from fifth place to that unfortunate retirement in race one.
00:28Let's go down trackside.
00:30Mark Oslo.
00:32Well, a dramatic moment in the 2000 Shell Championship Series.
00:36Our leader, Mark Scaife, caught up in the first lap tangle.
00:38How did you interpret that situation?
00:40Well, I mean, Crompo gave it a fair hit right in the back corner.
00:45The left-hand front wheel, his left-hand front wheel, hit my right-hand rear guard
00:48and basically just turned the car straight around.
00:51And I've got to say, Mark, I haven't really got a big fit of the giggles about it
00:54because that sort of stuff changes championships.
00:56Absolutely. Championship in the balance.
00:57Now, Robbie's working flat out on the car behind us.
01:00Is the car going to be ready for race two?
01:02I reckon it's sort of 70-30.
01:04I mean, we're a big chance we've got to put a front corner in the car
01:06and we're a little bit lucky that it hasn't actually hurt oil and water systems and stuff.
01:10But, you know, I was parked there and the whole field were going past.
01:13Larry had nowhere to go and ended up running into it.
01:14That's how it is.
01:15Wish you all the best.
01:16Hope to see you in race two.
01:17Thanks, Marko.
01:19This is your final chance.
01:20Bottom of your screen.
01:21Getting set for all the action in race two, round eight of the Shell Championship Series.
01:27Garf Tanner, the man who, of course, won race one, will lead the way in terms of this race in race two.
01:33Seaton alongside him on the front row.
01:34McCrompton and Lowndes on row two.
01:36Murphy and Bargs on three.
01:37Radisic and Ingle on row four.
01:39John Bowen, Todd Kelly, round out the top ten.
01:41Stephen Ellery and Rodney Forbes start out of row six.
01:44Cameron McLean and Stephen Johnson out of seven.
01:46Steve Reid and Craig Baird out of 16th.
01:49Further back, Anthony Tratton, Paul Morris on row nine.
01:52Larkham well back.
01:53So too Stephen Richards who started from position seven in race one, as you can see there.
01:57Ethan Smerton, McConville and Bates.
01:59Look at that shot.
02:00You can see Mark Skate.
02:01He will start this race from pit lane with Mark Larkham behind him.
02:05The revs rising in the V8s.
02:06We are away.
02:07Tanner again like a slingshot.
02:08Look at Murphy to a great start.
02:10This time a much better run from Glenn Seaton though as they head to the S's for the first time.
02:13Who's going to give it?
02:14It's Tanner.
02:15Tanner gives way sideways.
02:17That is Bargwana through the S's for the first time.
02:20He hangs on to it.
02:21Look at Barg's coming in big time from Crompton.
02:24Bargwana sliding all over the place.
02:26Left then right, but he managed to gather it up and hold on to it.
02:28The Valvoline Commodore stays in the battle.
02:31Great start in the FTR Falcon.
02:34I tell you what, Bargwana did a good job there, didn't he?
02:37Both ways.
02:38Neil Crompton has been swallowed up off the line there.
02:41He started out of grid position three but is now in about position six.
02:44Craig Lowndes, the big man to profit from that.
02:47And so too Greg Murphy.
02:48The field streamed through here.
02:50The infield section heading towards the Stratfield hairpin at the moment.
02:55Glenn Seaton leading the way.
02:56Could this be Ford's second or third, I should say, victory of the year in race terms?
03:01Well, they haven't won a round so far in 2000.
03:06They've won one round in 98, one round in 99.
03:10And the form shown by the Holdens earlier this year.
03:12Everyone thought this may have been the first season we went through without the Ford victory at all.
03:16But Glenn Seaton fighting back at Wynton this afternoon.
03:19Had to play second fiddle to Tander in race one.
03:21But he's got the race lead in race two.
03:23I tell you what, that thing of Seaton's is not down on horse power.
03:26You see acceleration.
03:27Oh, what have we got?
03:29Yeah, Craig Baird looked like he touched the back of Radisson's.
03:33Keep an eye on Mark.
03:34Scape's progress there.
03:34As you can see, the back end of the field coming through.
03:37Scape, a miraculous effort by the Holden Racing team in between races one and two.
03:41They have completely rebuilt that front end of the car, which was so badly damaged.
03:45He is out there and now fighting his way through the field.
03:47Seaton storms underneath our trackside camera there.
03:50That was quite an incredible job by Robbie Starr and George Smith from Denkar.
03:55Did a lot of their panel work, cutting away there with his angle grinder.
03:58Oh, just on the inside goes Paul Morris with Rodney Forbes.
04:01Muscles his way up the inside.
04:02Takes him.
04:03And they swing up through.
04:05I'll do Ford credit straight.
04:08But I've got to head it to HRT.
04:10That was an incredibly quick repair job, considering the amount of damage they had to do.
04:14To get Scape back into this race, he's got to fight from the back though.
04:17Yeah, they had to cut part of the front wing off and put a new piece on it.
04:22I mean, if you saw the amount of damage there, they did an incredible job.
04:26I didn't think they would be getting done.
04:27Scape from pit lane.
04:28As now he's on the 30th position.
04:30Look at him, storming through the field beside Tony Longhurst.
04:32Longhurst, rather, who's also on the recovery.
04:35After his problems in race one, with a tight end, he turned around Longhurst.
04:39And that's Brad Jones there, he's with him as well.
04:41Boy, oh boy, Longhurst is in the wars at Winton.
04:44Oh, he's got a lot of forget this weekend, doesn't he?
04:46Oh, it's incredible, isn't it?
04:49Oh, I guess I'm going to get the big stuck.
04:51So, Longhurst goes to the back of the field.
04:54Been a terrible weekend so far for the veteran.
04:57Most experienced driver in the Shell Championship Series.
04:59And look at the smoke coming out of Senna's thing.
05:02He's got to get a bit of fuel going through that thing.
05:04Yeah, enriching it up.
05:06Maximum horsepower for the FTR Falcon.
05:08Putting it to good use here, but he's got his mirrors full of a Valvoline Cummins Commodore.
05:12Garth Tander and Craig Lowndes, our defending Shell Series champion,
05:16trying to fight back in this championship.
05:17He needs every point he can get.
05:19And he's really starting to hustle in the back of Tander's car.
05:22Drove an incredible race in the first one of the day.
05:24Craig Lowndes right on Neil Crompton's bumper for the entire duration of it.
05:29He's got a mark on it, Lowndes.
05:31But this is his desperate bid for points now, the defending champion.
05:34Look at these three guys.
05:34They are so in need of points.
05:36Seek second in the championship, Tander third.
05:38And Lowndes fourth in the series coming into this round.
05:41Mark Scaife.
05:42Yep, continuing his charge from the back.
05:43He's up to 25th.
05:45After starting right from the pit lane before the...
05:48Had to wait for the whole field to get away before.
05:50He was given the green light to go.
05:51There he is.
05:52Up behind Chris Smyrton.
05:53Down the inside as they dive into Penright Turn.
05:56Oh, Tyler Mecklum, Formula 4 driver, making his V8 supercar debut this weekend in the Ultratune TDK car.
06:05But he's taken a wild ride off into the scenery.
06:07Let's wonder if he can get out.
06:09Very difficult.
06:10There is so much water on this infield at Winton.
06:14I think he's bogged.
06:15Yep.
06:16That is on the entry to the Ford Credit Sweeper.
06:19So, wonder what the officials will say about that, whether it's parked.
06:23Might see a safety car out there.
06:25We'll keep an eye on that.
06:25Meanwhile, the race continues.
06:27Seton defending hard from Tander.
06:28Lowndes.
06:29Bit of a gap.
06:30Back to Greg Murphy and the Kmart Commodore.
06:32There he is.
06:33Just coming into view.
06:34Bargwana, Radisic, Engel and Crompton now back to eighth.
06:38Got swallowed up at the start there.
06:40Bauer.
06:40And now we're rounding out the top ten.
06:44So, Seton looking to try and, I guess, emulate what happened to Craig Baird in race two at
06:50Phillip Island and Paul Radisic in race two at Eastern Creek.
06:54Could this be FTR's first victory of the year?
06:56There is Tyler Mecklen's TDK Ultratune Commodore parked just off to the edge of the circuit there
07:01on the entry to the Ford Credit Sweeper.
07:04Now, we are being told the safety car has been brought out because of that.
07:08So, the field will bunch up in behind them.
07:14So, there is Seton who leads the way.
07:17Let's have a closer look at this.
07:18This is, I would say.
07:20Oh, it just looked like he understood straight off and that was it.
07:25Didn't look like he'd come together with anybody.
07:27And once you get any undergrowth here, it's about three feet deep in water.
07:33Just goes to show what Mark was talking about before,
07:36the difference between the Holden undertray.
07:38Admittedly, that's a VS versus the Ford.
07:41The Ford, in situations like that, tends to act like a shovel and it's so brittle and it breaks so easily.
07:46They're not cheap, those things.
07:47Two and a half grand's worth.
07:48That's ridiculous, isn't it?
07:50But I have to say that if they were to make a rule that the undertray would have to be five inches off the ground at the front with both cars, both the Ford and the Holden.
08:02Larry, what do you reckon?
08:03Do you think that would save people a few bob?
08:06Well, yeah, but then you've got to have a bit of downforce for the high speed these cars do.
08:09It's really the design of these undertrays.
08:13The Holden ones don't break and it's just the way you chose to design them.
08:17For those folks who may have just joined us, Larry Perkins joining us for some special guest comments during the course of this race.
08:22Larry, you might like to let the folks at home know why you're not out there on the circuit.
08:26Yeah, I had a bit to do with why Mark escapes at the back of the grid.
08:30No, I came around the corner and he was spun backwards in the track and I've had a head-on collision with an overlap of about a foot and it's pulled his front wheel off and pulled my front wheel off and all nearly off.
08:42They've got theirs together and we put ours away.
08:45It's one of those things, I guess, not a nice way to end your day.
08:49Russell, though, at the moment, seventh position and not looking too bad.
08:52Well, he'd prefer to be up further than that.
08:55He was saying he hasn't got the traction out of the slow corners that he wants and has had, so that's his own little problem.
09:02But, yeah, still a few laps to go and if he can get on there, he might make up a bit of one or two spots.
09:07A lot of the drivers have been talking about how wet this infield is and some of them have possibly been getting their wheels off to the inside of the circuit and dragging some water onto the track.
09:15Has that made it difficult for a driver?
09:17Well, in the qualifying yesterday, we had a bit of foul play going on where, indeed, some guys could only have been deliberately.
09:22You're pulling the water onto the track so I've messed up the guy behind you and, you know, that sometimes happens but, unfortunately, not too often.
09:32But, look, it's so wet here, it's like a paddy field somewhere, a rice paddy field.
09:36It's shocking out there.
09:38It might be wet and we'll get some rice fields going in.
09:40Yeah, I saw the aero shot, Larry, where Scafie and Seton went off yesterday.
09:46Somebody's pulled some more water on that fast left-hand king.
09:50Yeah, that's right.
09:51That king's about 180 kilometres an hour and when it's wet, it pulls about 40 kilometres an hour off.
09:57So when you come across a wet patch, you've got no option to have a big slide off and spin out in the hill.
10:02Lights out on the safety car, folks.
10:04We're set to go racing again and we're away.
10:07Glenn Seaton leading the field, a Ford out in front.
10:09Garth Tander now throwing out a challenge as they head towards the Esses.
10:14And Lowndes in tow in third place.
10:15Greg Murphy there.
10:16And so too Jason Barclata in the second of the Valvoline Cummins Commodores.
10:23They sweep underneath the old start line, if you like, or across the old start line.
10:30I guess for Glenn, he's now playing defensive, Larry.
10:32I mean, where are places that Tander or Lowndes might try and pass here?
10:37Well, the best thing Glenn can do is take the racing line because that's still the fastest
10:40and then no-one will ever catch him.
10:42But if he chooses to start playing defensive, I think it'll be his downfall because Tander's
10:46right on him up there.
10:48You know, Gordon's got to race for hard and fast and just hope that's good enough.
10:52Ford-Libbert in-car camera doesn't get any closer than that.
10:54Almost coming right into your living room was Garth Tander.
10:58You can see there Glenn Seaton working the way inside the Falcon.
11:03Tempting a tremendous traction out of some of the corners.
11:06Look at the fuel that got going through that thing, Larry.
11:08Black smoke got out of that.
11:10Yeah, I think they might go revisit the engine tuning department when they get home.
11:15You don't need all that smoke these days.
11:19Well, not harming Seaton's progress at the moment.
11:21Last lap around.
11:22He's, of course, behind the safety car, but he has been turning some very quick times
11:26and the car seems to really rocket out of the corners.
11:29Look at Seaton muscling the FTR Falcon around the Wheaton circuit.
11:32And there, Paul Radisic as well getting the back left out onto the exit of the River Strip,
11:36which is a little bit precarious, but dangerous possibly to do that.
11:41Anthony Tratt doing the same thing as well.
11:45Lap 7 of 18.
11:47Oh, we've had a spinner there.
11:48That's Russell Ingle.
11:49Now that is on the exit of the S's there.
11:51And the Enforcer was in seventh place at the time.
11:56And we hear from the pits there may have been some kind of contact with Paul Radisic.
12:00So how that's, how that happened all, we don't know.
12:04But we've certainly seen the outcome from Russell's point of view.
12:06Paul Wheel getting sideways on the exit there as well.
12:08That's cost him.
12:09Dougal McDougal through.
12:11And so too, Cameron McConville.
12:12Anthony Tratt's been at the worst.
12:14Boy, oh boy.
12:15We got damage to the front bonnet in race one.
12:18Luckily, no major suspension damage as a result of that.
12:23He's now lost that front under tray on the AU Falcon.
12:26Now, scape for those of you keeping an eye or wanting to know how he's progressing.
12:30Now up to 21st position after starting from pit lane.
12:34I guess, Larry, if you're starting from the back of the field,
12:36that's a pretty precarious job around a bloke like Winton.
12:38Well, it's really hard work.
12:40It's as simple as that.
12:41The track, the straights aren't long enough for you to extend your legs.
12:44And, you know, he's getting into the cars now that are a bit quicker than the real tail enders.
12:48And unless they're cooperative, he's going to have real trouble.
12:51And, you know, it's just frustrating on these small tracks like this.
12:56One thing I really noticed with you, you look at Seaton, Larry, when he gets on the brakes,
13:01that Ford seems to dive a lot more at the front than the old he does.
13:04Yeah, he's obviously running very soft front springs there.
13:06And that's all you're seeing, a product of how soft the car is.
13:10And it's working well for him right now, though.
13:13Larry Perkins, hard luck on today here at Winton.
13:16Let's hope your fortunes turn around in the next round of the championship at Orrin Park in Sydney.
13:20Well, thanks very much.
13:20Larry Perkins joining us there.
13:23Sideline for today, but he'll be back in earnest at Orrin Park.
13:27Rodney Forbes getting back past Paul Morris.
13:32So Forbes keen to argue today.
13:34There's Craig Baird in the second of the Stone Brothers Racing.
13:37The Falcons well down the order.
13:39Baird currently in 14th position.
13:40And Stephen Richards, who started the day in a good grid position, out of position 7, car 7.
13:46But under that spin and contact in race one,
13:48has been trying to work his way back through the field, trying to get past Baird.
13:52Here's what's happening at the front.
13:54Seton and Tander.
13:56And Lowndes latched onto the back of them as well.
13:59A bit of a gap back to Greg Murphy, who sits in fourth position.
14:03And Jason Barguana doing a sterling job.
14:05And the second of the Valleable Incomers Commodores.
14:07Radisic now up to sixth position.
14:08Neil Crompton back in seventh.
14:10And John Bauer has clawed his way up in the Caterpillar forward to eighth position.
14:14Ellery, Kelly, Morris, Forbes, lots more coming your way from Winton right after the break.
14:21Great to have you with us, wherever you're watching, right around Australia.
14:26All through TV1 in Newsonville.
14:29This is round eight of the Shell Championship Series now.
14:32You'll notice a difference here if you've been with us just prior to the ad break.
14:35Greg Lowndes was in third position.
14:36He has now dropped to fifth.
14:39Greg Murphy sits on the road in front of him.
14:40And we'll take a closer look at Wineberry.
14:42Yeah, it's...
14:43Oh, Lowndes up the inside of Murphy.
14:46And then Bob Winer gets through on the pair of them.
14:50Whoa!
14:50Whoa, whoa, whoa.
14:51Oh, it's a good move by Boggs.
14:53Got a hand.
14:54And Murph, look at this.
14:55Murph got a good run out of that corner too.
14:57He's got a good run out of that corner too.
14:59He got in front of the Kmart machine.
15:01So Craig Lowndes now having to fight for every point.
15:04Fastest lap, fastest man on the track this time around.
15:07Paul Radisic in the Shell forward at 124.57.
15:12Said just a few moments ago.
15:15But he's back there in sixth position.
15:17A bit more real estate to make up.
15:18This is the battle between Craig Lowndes and Greg Murphy for fourth position.
15:25There's our lead battle.
15:26Glenn Seaton still defending hard from the front.
15:30Garth Tander, Jason Barguana, Greg Murphy and Craig Lowndes.
15:35Murphy and Lowndes, of course.
15:38Don't forget former teammates at the Holden Racing Team.
15:4196 Bathurst winners.
15:42Just amazing how they turned that Kmart Commodore around, didn't they?
15:45Like, talking to Murphy on Saturday, he was going, oh, God, this is going to be a hard weekend.
15:49And all of a sudden, he comes out in the slowest 50% of qualifying and puts the car third fastest.
15:54Well, he's had a great boost of enthusiasm overnight with the Kiwis in the Bledislau Cup.
15:59He's taken great delight all day here.
16:01So that's been a bit of a boost for him.
16:06He did say yesterday in that hot lapping qualifying.
16:08But you've got it very fast as Ellery gathers it up.
16:11Todd Kelly sneaks up the inside.
16:14They're going to go side by side up toward the Ford Sweeper.
16:16Kelly muscling in, takes the apex.
16:19And Ellery has to concede.
16:22He did a good job of saving that.
16:23Oh, wild moment, wasn't he?
16:24He's now got Lee Geyer on board as his chief engineer, formerly with Dick Johnson Racing.
16:30Now joining another one, another of the Queensland-based Ford Outfits and the super-cheap Autos team.
16:36So he's got some good experience on board.
16:41As they approach the endurance races, look at the sideways there.
16:44Todd Kelly gets trying to put the power down to the MyCar Commodore.
16:48He's been working on the brakes between races.
16:50Wasn't happy with the car's braking performance.
16:52It was hindering his ability to pass.
16:54Looks like they're working OK now.
16:56He was saying recently too, Mark, that in the early stages of this season,
17:00in the latter half of last year,
17:01he would talk quite regularly with Craig Lowndes and Mark's game about their set-ups
17:04and use that as a learning tool, if you will.
17:09Nowadays, he feels like he's getting the experience on board.
17:12He's starting to learn what's required to set these cars up.
17:15He feels he doesn't have to rely on them as much.
17:17So Kelly, he won race two, don't forget, at Canberra, the GMC 400.
17:21This could be the best result for Stephen Ellery.
17:23He's super-cheap on those teams.
17:24The best they've done so far was at ninth.
17:26And that was up in Darwin.
17:28And currently he's running eighth on the road.
17:31Here's Mark Skate, now up to 15th position.
17:35And doing a great job chasing down Craig there.
17:38Just ahead of him in the Pertsec fort.
17:40Don't forget, right here on your home of motorsport,
17:42plenty of four-wheel action set to come your way.
17:44Trackside next Sunday, 3 to 5.
17:46As always, check your local guides.
17:48This nation's come and a whole lot more there.
17:50The Shell Championship Series, of course, returns in a fortnight.
17:53The mad month of July.
17:54It keeps coming at you, doesn't it?
17:55Orin Park Raceway.
17:573 to 5 at the end of the month.
17:59That should be a ripper.
18:00Reverse grid race in place for that one as well.
18:03The aerial shot was good, actually.
18:05You can really see how quick Skate is going.
18:07He was making an arm and a leg over Craig Baird.
18:10There might be some people that dislike the idea of reverse grid racing,
18:13but I think it's pretty exciting watching Skate come storming through the field.
18:17Tremendous drive by the Shell Series points leader.
18:20He started off the back of the grid.
18:23And he's really come storming through.
18:24Look at Craig Lowndes, though.
18:25Trying to get that track position back from the Kmart Commodore.
18:28He lost two positions to Bargwana and Murphy just coming out of that corner a few laps ago.
18:34Just shows how difficult it is to pass around Wynton Raceway.
18:38The car in front just holds a conservative line.
18:41There's no opportunity for Lowndes to get the nose of that car alongside.
18:45Murphy was saying yesterday after qualifying that that lap he did
18:48in the second session to get into third fastest.
18:51He said he just really drove at 11 tenths and was hanging on like a rollercoaster ride.
18:55And he was surprised that he got up there to third quickest.
18:58He wasn't happy with the setup.
18:59He feels that the car is handled better here during the course of testing.
19:02And the Kmart racing team have done a fair bit of that here.
19:05But overnight the boys have tried to work on stopping the car being so taily.
19:10It seems to be going quite well at the moment, holding out Lowndes.
19:13And these two are good mates off the track as well.
19:17Yep, give no quarter rivals on the track.
19:20Lowndes, flames belching from the exhaust as he comes right up behind Novi in the Kmart machine.
19:25He couldn't get closer than that.
19:28Fire out of the corner, down what was the old back straight.
19:32Now Dunlop straight, they break hard.
19:35Swing onto the Falcon straight.
19:38Lowndes just has run out of options here.
19:41Goal, Maconball!
19:42And Russell Ingle as well!
19:44Oh, dear me!
19:45They're right off in the scenery.
19:46Look how far in the infield they are.
19:48That must have been a pretty high-speed lose on the approach.
19:50Through the Ford Credit Sweeper.
19:53I think they may have shot off there and gone straight into the infield.
19:55Or possibly maybe off the Strathfield hairpin, yeah.
19:58They're right out in the middle of the grass there.
19:59And as you've seen, cars trying to get out of this situation.
20:02It's so boggy here.
20:03Look at this.
20:03Struggle out of that.
20:04They might even be stuck there.
20:05They are slick tyres.
20:07They have no tread.
20:08So, of course, they've got no traction.
20:09Let's have a look at this again, Baz.
20:10OK, so it was up the pen right corner.
20:13Down towards Strathfield hairpin.
20:16And...
20:16Oh!
20:17Now, these two, don't forget after Darwin.
20:19This is a...
20:20Yeah, exactly.
20:23Jason Barguana.
20:25We're on board in the Valvoline Cummins Commodore.
20:28The victor here last year.
20:29Three laps remaining.
20:31The race leader, Glenn Seaton.
20:35But this is the battle now between the teammates for second position.
20:37Garth Tander just up ahead of him in car 34.
20:41And Barguana, you saw him force his way through and Craig Lowndes made that mistake.
20:46Now he's sitting up in a top three spot.
20:48Let's check out the Be Clear and Simple on-board telemetry with Jason Barguana.
20:52If you haven't seen this before, that's your road speed on the left of his screen.
20:56Your engine revolutions on the right.
20:58Brake applications in the middle.
20:59And your gear selections as well.
21:01And you can ride right along with Barguana as he tries to squeeze the ounce of performance out of this car.
21:07Try and close the gap to his team-mate.
21:08At the moment, he's not been able to close it enough to have a challenge at Tander.
21:16But this is a good round for Garth Tander and Glenn Seaton as they try and fight back his points deficit from championship leader Mark Skate.
21:24They're invited.
21:25It has been a real mixed season for Barguana so far.
21:28More on the downside than the upside.
21:30The upsides when they have been there.
21:31A second place in race one of the GMC 400.
21:35And a storming drive in the second leg, if you like, of the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide where he finished third in this situation right behind his team-mate Garth Tander.
21:43So, Barg's at this stage looking good for a third position.
21:48But these two don't see that the Alba close the gap to Glenn Seaton.
21:51Yeah, I was going to say, you look at Seaton's time is consistently the quickest.
21:55Barguana here, just a little bit quicker than Seaton.
21:57Every lap so far, the vast majority of Seaton's been the quickest.
22:01When I spoke to him, he said they've been really concentrating on tyre consistency with the car.
22:06I thought it might be a bit sluggish in the opening laps, but once the tyres were up to temperature and the car was in the groove, he thought it would be very, very good on tyres.
22:13He's certainly been able to open up a little bit of a gap on Garth Tander.
22:16We go on board with Seaton.
22:19Working hard in the FTR Falcon.
22:23And this is a very encouraging performance.
22:26It would be pleasing a lot of Ford fans around the country who have had a pretty dry season so far.
22:31Really turning things around at Wynton this afternoon.
22:35Seaton heads back toward Pitt Strait Tander in pursuit.
22:38Barguana just behind him.
22:39A little bit of a gap back to Murphy and Lowndes.
22:42And here's the battle.
22:42Radisic, Val, Todd Kelly, the Houlton Young Lions Commodore, Stephen Ellery and the super cheap autos machine.
22:48And Stephen Richards storming back after a great qualifying performance to take fifth fastest.
22:54Got turned around in the first race and he's been fighting his way back ever since.
22:57And this is the battle for 15th and 14th position, if you like.
22:59Mark Scaife right there chasing down Craig Baird.
23:02He got up to 15th position a couple of laps to go.
23:05They'll get the last lap board to go this time around.
23:07But he's not been able to move past Baird or Morris.
23:10And another point of interest for you as well.
23:12Oh, look at this.
23:13Baird on the inside.
23:14And Scaife goes with him.
23:16Scaife tries to, but Morris on the inside gives him racing room.
23:20Scaife side by side as they head down.
23:21At the end of that short little straight, swing hard through Honda corner, Scaife picks up another position.
23:27So he's really on a charge.
23:29A fantastic job for the whole of the racing team, honestly, to get this car back into racing condition in such a short period of time.
23:34From the back of the grid or from pit lane, if you like, up to 14th position.
23:39So Scaife doing incredibly well.
23:42Seton, if you've just joined us, leads the way.
23:43There he is and on course for victory.
23:46The third race win for Ford this year and the first for FTR.
23:50Wow, what a much needed breakthrough that will be for them.
23:54Something has happened to his teammate Neil Crompton, though.
23:56He has dropped to 20th position in this race after starting out of grid three.
24:01So I'm not sure what's happened to Cromley.
24:03But through the final set of turns, this battle rages between Lowndes and Greg Murphy.
24:10And well done.
24:13You can hear the team.
24:13Great drive.
24:15Seton takes it out here at Winton race two.
24:17Haven't seen a smile on this man's face for a long time.
24:23It's been a very tough year.
24:25Yes, yes, yes.
24:26You may well say that, Glenn.
24:27Well done.
24:30Fight back by Ford.
24:32Winton motor raceway.
24:33The crowd show their approval.
24:35Oh, John Faulkner in trouble.
24:39That's coming on to pit straight.
24:41So that's cost him as well.
24:44Well, an emotional win for Glenn Seton and the Ford Tickford racing team.
24:51Third victory of the year for Ford.
24:54And the first for FTR.
24:55Tanner at Barguana home.
24:56Second and third Barguana.
24:58A great effort for him.
24:59Murphy and Lowndes for the fifth ball after this.
25:01Well, you can't complain about a lack of action here at Winton Motor Raceway.
25:10There has been plenty of it today.
25:11John Faulkner going off on the final turn of race two.
25:15And that dropped him well down the order.
25:16Some other shakers and movers in this one heading in the right direction.
25:19Stephen Richards from 20th to 10th.
25:22What about Mark Scaife's charge from 34th to 14th?
25:25And Mark Larkham, 35th to 17th.
25:27He started from Pit Lane, in fact.
25:29Neil Crofton also, unfortunately, went the wrong way.
25:32Third to 19th.
25:33Let's go trackside.
25:34Mark Osler.
25:36Jason Barguana, the big winner at Winton in 1999.
25:39But, gee, you're having to work for your pay this weekend.
25:41It's not a hard work out there.
25:42Oh, it's fantastic, though.
25:43I'm having a ball.
25:45That race, that was great.
25:46I mean, Murph and Craig were having a bit of a ding-dong.
25:48And I thought, ah, here's an opportunity.
25:49I'm going to take this one.
25:50So, yeah, that was good.
25:51A lot of fun.
25:52It's a hard place to pass around here, isn't it?
25:54You've really got to work hard to find an opportunity.
25:56Look, these cars are hard to pass in anywhere we go these days.
25:59Everyone's so close.
26:00I mean, you look at qualifying.
26:01I was two-tenths of a second off the front row.
26:03And you're thinking, oh, so then you've got to go and race the guy, you know, and try and pass him.
26:07But, I mean, you've just got to take the opportunities when they come, let it come to you,
26:09and, yeah, hopefully end up on the podium.
26:11Yeah, I was going to say, if you keep your head, you might end up on that podium.
26:14So, best of luck.
26:15Yeah, I'll just keep it bolted on here.
26:16Is that how it works?
26:17Is that all I have to do?
26:18Yeah, thanks.
26:21It's time for Team Ford.
26:22Gene.
26:23Thanks a lot, Greg.
26:24I'm down here in the Rod Nash racing pit with Rod Nash and Cameron Conville.
26:28Now, Rod, you haven't raced since Bathurst last year, and half a lap, it was all over.
26:33Yeah, Baz.
26:34Well, obviously, we've brought out the new car, and, like you say, got half a lap into it.
26:38And I found there was a bit of a parking lane with Larry.
26:42So, straight in the back, had nowhere to go, and de-stressed the new car.
26:46But, anyway, you've got to de-stress it sometimes.
26:48So, it's done now.
26:49Great.
26:50Now, Cameron, in Canberra, you were having an absolute ball with Brad Jones and Cameron McClain.
26:55Yeah, it was some good racing, Baz.
26:56I really enjoyed it.
26:57You know, we qualified very well in Canberra.
27:00The Auto Pro car's been getting quicker and quicker.
27:02But, we're in a battle for about 20 laps there.
27:05It was great.
27:06It was like the old Super Touring day.
27:07It was, actually, although probably more panel damage.
27:10So, how's the car going now?
27:12It's going okay.
27:13We had an engine failure here in qualifying, so it's sort of put us to the rear of the grid.
27:18And I can't seem to take a trick as soon as we, you know, make up some spots or get caught up in an incident.
27:23So, yeah, it's not so good so far today.
27:26What about Hidden Valley with Russell?
27:28Now, what was going on there?
27:29You sort of drove into Russell, didn't you?
27:31Well, yeah, I take the blame for that one.
27:33I did turn in a little bit early.
27:35I was trying to get past him before the apex of the corner.
27:38It didn't come off and I actually just had a run in with him then.
27:40So, it hasn't been very good between Russell and I.
27:43And another one today.
27:44Yeah, I know.
27:45But that one, I think, wasn't all my fault.
27:47It was a bit of a racing incident.
27:49That's the funny thing.
27:50The Hidden Valley thing, people don't realise how easy that is to do.
27:53And it's a genuine mistake.
27:54Yeah, it was.
27:54Look, I admitted to Russell that I made an error there.
27:56And, you know, he was okay about it.
27:58But we haven't chatted after race two yet.
28:01Best of luck anyway.
28:02Thanks, Barry.
28:03Cheers.
28:04Who's your favourite movie star?
28:06Well, I have two.
28:07The female would be Catherine Zeta-Jones.
28:09And the reason is because she likes older men.
28:11And the other one's Denzel Washington and Tom Cruise
28:14because I like those action-adventure movies that they play.
28:18Look, who else but John Wayne?
28:19Like, he really says it how it is.
28:22He doesn't mess around.
28:23No nonsense.
28:25X-rated or non-X-rated?
28:27Meg Ryan is...
28:32I think she's got a lot of classes.
28:33She's very, very attractive.
28:35Bruce Willis.
28:36Definitely Bruce Willis, man.
28:37He fathered three kids to Debbie Moore.
28:39And, you know, I'd have to be Bruce Willis.
28:41I think she's got a lot of classes.
28:42I think she's got a lot of classes.
28:43I think she's got a lot of classes.
28:44I think she's got a lot of classes.
28:45I think she's got a lot of classes.
28:46I think she's got a lot of classes.
28:47I think she's got a lot of classes.
28:48I think she's got a lot of classes.
28:49I think she's got a lot of classes.
28:50I think she's got a lot of classes.
28:51I think she's got a lot of classes.
28:52I think she's got a lot of classes.
28:53I think she's got a lot of classes.
