00:00The ultimate weapons of the future have just declared war on each other.
00:04Here's your look at brand new Hi-A-Toys.
00:06This is the Universal Soldier Exquisite Super Series, Luke Devereaux.
00:09Joining the Exquisite Super Series from the 1992 sci-fi thriller Universal Soldier
00:32is the 112th scale Luke Devereaux action figure.
00:35After his body is secretly taken away to be resurrected through experiments
00:38as a memory-deprived war machine, Luke gradually regains his memories
00:41and meets a journalist who accidentally uncovers the secret of the Universal Soldier.
00:45This all-new previous exclusive Luke action figure stands at 6.2 inches tall
00:50and faithfully reproduces his appearance from the film.
00:53Poor guy, all he wants to really do is eat.
00:55Before that, we get a closer look at the Exquisite Super Series Universal Soldier, Luke Devereaux.
00:59Yeah, been really excited for this one.
01:01Let's take the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands.
01:04Right now, he's listed as a pre-order on many online sites
01:07with the estimated arrive date of April 2025.
01:10Well, wait a minute, reviewer. It's April right now.
01:12He should be dropping, I would imagine, any minute.
01:14As for his height, he's going to stand at about 6 3⁄4 of an inch in height,
01:19translating, though, to a figure that's 16 centimeters tall.
01:22Here's what he looks like with another company-made man,
01:24the John J. Rambo, also from the Exquisite Super Series.
01:28Yeah, sizing isn't really quite right.
01:30Jean-Claude Van Damme is actually 5'10".
01:32Sylvester Stallone is also the same.
01:34And yet, to look at the two side-by-side,
01:36you would think that Luke Devereaux would be casting a shadow over John J. Rambo,
01:40when really the two figures should be exactly the same size.
01:43For your consideration, the figure does come in clear with a display stand
01:46and two ways of using it.
01:48First of all, if you look at the default out of the box,
01:50you get yourself the Universal logo across the top.
01:53It doesn't say, actually, Luke Devereaux anywhere around it.
01:55It would have been nice if they could have included that,
01:57but at least we get a reference back to the movie.
01:59The box itself is hefty,
02:01more so because it actually holds and houses the bag inside.
02:04What? There's a bag inside?
02:05Yeah, there is.
02:05If you lift up the lid,
02:07inside there's the bag that can store all of Luke's accessories
02:09when you're not displaying it along with the figure.
02:12I've actually made use of many of these.
02:14In fact, I actually speak on John J. Rambo,
02:15who's, yeah, again, still too short.
02:17I was actually putting a lot of the accessories inside the bag,
02:19and then I was putting them inside the tray here for the display stand
02:22so I could keep everything on the ready.
02:24I didn't have to always go back and relying on the box.
02:26The thing about the box, though,
02:27is that you, again, have two different ways of displaying it.
02:30You can go with just the default of the Universal Soldier
02:32with the singular peg hole,
02:33or you can also double that up, triple that up.
02:36Well, you're going to multiply it
02:37and basically get yourself like nine.
02:39Nine different individual holes.
02:41Each one of those holes give you then an option.
02:42If you get yourself the adjustable neck,
02:43which it does also come included with,
02:45that neck can plug into any one of the following nine holes.
02:49And basically, that would just sit inside the tray instead.
02:51Now, one thing I never really talk about
02:54when it comes to these display stands that we get from Hyatt Toys
02:57is that you don't always have to feel the need
02:59to display them on the box like this,
03:01because I know, obviously,
03:01it's going to elevate the figure a little higher up on the shelf.
03:04If you'd like really just to choose
03:05to go with the display stand on its own,
03:07you can easily do that.
03:09The actual display stand itself,
03:10if you were to look at it, though,
03:12this one is the only one that actually has the slots,
03:15because the figure, like the Exquisite Mini Series,
03:17have the little eye brackets,
03:18so you can plug these in place,
03:19and then you basically can have display stands
03:22going in any other direction that you want.
03:24It's strange, really, that it's only on this option,
03:26and it's never really on this option,
03:28because I think if really the two display stands,
03:30if you choose not to have them standing on a box like this,
03:33if you want to just make use of this on its own,
03:36there's no real way to attach this to another display stand.
03:39We are also going to be getting another Universal Soldier,
03:41and we're going to be looking at him coming up this week.
03:44But yeah, if you did want to just display them on the way,
03:46you could,
03:47but yet you don't have the available option with the eye brackets
03:49that can plug in place and then attach them
03:50with multiple display stands.
03:53By the way, though, one other thing, too,
03:54is that you go back to the little neck adjustment arm here,
03:58and that, again, while it can plug into easily any place here,
04:01I mean, one thing you can do also as well,
04:03normally I would say, like, with an adjustable neck this high,
04:06what character in their right mind is going to be leaping all the time?
04:09Well, in a case of Jean-Claude Van Damme with the helicopter kick,
04:12although it would probably be a little harder
04:13to pull off the helicopter kick with the outfit
04:15that he's wearing right now,
04:16you could actually theoretically attach this basically around the figure's waist.
04:20So again, if you just, like, clip the figure's waist,
04:22well, take the clip and obviously fit it around his waist like that.
04:25You can have, then, Luke Devereaux floating in the air.
04:27Or, again, you could try your best to do the helicopter kick.
04:30I don't think you're going to be able to pull that off
04:31just with the confinements of the material that they've given him right now.
04:35If you find, though, the length of neck is too high, though,
04:38you can also detach these, too.
04:40Just take the parts that you don't want off
04:42and keep the parts that you want to keep on, yes.
04:44So you basically just do that instead.
04:46I always, again, like the display stands.
04:47I mean, for a lot of, again, the Exquisite Super Series figures
04:50that I have currently on the shelf,
04:52I always make use of these.
04:53Although a lot of times, to be fair,
04:55because they're always going to be part of the Exquisite Super Series,
04:57I always tend to keep them on the pedestal like this.
04:59You don't have to do that, though.
05:00You can just leave them off and keep the top of the lid instead.
05:03I'll unfortunately not come and include with Allie Walker as an accessory.
05:07Yeah.
05:08The figure does, though, however, come and include with some swappable hands
05:11and many other things as well.
05:12Seeing as we've already mentioned hands,
05:14why don't we go running through that already?
05:15The figure does have already, on the ends of his forearms,
05:17a pair of relaxed hands.
05:19He does come with some closed fists.
05:21Okay.
05:22He does also come and include with a couple of gripping hands.
05:24Now, this is actually better suited for holding the baton,
05:26because, as you can see, the hole is a little bit smaller.
05:29He does come with some trigger-firing hands of both sides.
05:32Well, actually, more so really on one side
05:34that actually have the dedicated trigger fingers.
05:36And he has a wider grip.
05:38And then he has a slightly smaller grip.
05:40Surprisingly, though, enough,
05:41the figure does have a hand that looks almost identical to one another.
05:44Kind of really asks the question,
05:45did they really need to use the plastic to double up the exact same hand?
05:49And then he comes with a couple of other gripping hands also as well.
05:51Move those all out of the way.
05:53Seeing as we've already, as well, discussed the fact of batons,
05:55the figure, yeah, does have one.
05:57The baton itself, as we see,
05:59brief, very briefly in the movie.
06:01Again, it's one of those accessories
06:02where you blink and you might miss it.
06:04I mean, I don't think you necessarily blink and miss it,
06:06but it's certainly not an accessory that makes many appearances in the movie.
06:10The baton itself is nicely, again, colored.
06:13You can probably even see that there's a little bit of wear to it.
06:16So they haven't just molded it simply in black
06:19and then called it a day.
06:20No, they actually have gone in there
06:21and painted a little bit of brushing of silver.
06:23And that looks really nice.
06:24The figure does also come in clear with a pistol.
06:27Now, the pistol is small.
06:29There is a place, of course, to store this as well.
06:31If you just move his arm out of the way,
06:32there's a holster located on the side of his body.
06:35And that basically just houses in place like that.
06:38He does also come in clear with a couple of grenades.
06:41Careful not to pull the pins.
06:42The grenades themselves, very small.
06:44Likely to be lost if you're not too careful.
06:46The pins, though, unfortunately, have been molded so close to the...
06:49I mean, it's all really on one piece.
06:51There's no way to kind of attach these onto something.
06:54Theoretically, though, he does have a couple of pockets there on the top
06:56that you can slide the grenades into.
06:58Not the easiest thing to pull off.
07:00And the pockets are quite visibly large.
07:03He does also come in clear with this heat-sensing watch.
07:06He needs to chill down.
07:08He doesn't come with any bags of ice, which is a little disappointing.
07:11But the little heat-sensing watch tells him when, again, he's starting to overheat.
07:15But he does also have a belt of ammunition.
07:20So you can certainly have that displayed around the figure's body, I suppose, if you want to.
07:23It's soft enough, at least a plastic, that you're not going to have to worry about this.
07:27Well, I think, if anything, you may worry that this might split.
07:30I've noticed that, see right there, this one bullet, it seems like it's starting to split.
07:35So I'm going to be very, very careful not to break it all the way.
07:39Then for his accessories, I guess for his larger weapons, the figure comes with an M60.
07:43Now, one other additional ammo belt that he comes included with, I just happen to have already left inside the gun.
07:49And there's a slot right here.
07:50You basically take yourself your ammo belt and you just put it in place like that.
07:54You can also bring these down, too, as well.
07:57Just be careful of that, obviously.
07:59And this could also be just strapped around the figure's body.
08:03One of my favorite accessories, though, that the figure does come included with is the one that most of the time I think of, at least,
08:08when it comes to Luke Devereaux, the figure comes also with an MP5K.
08:13It does say it actually has a removable magazine, but I can't seem to remove it.
08:18I don't want to break it, but it does seem like it's all one piece.
08:22It is, though, advertised that it's supposed to have a removable magazine clip, but, yeah, I can't seem to take that off.
08:27This, though, would be my go-to weapon when it comes to displaying with the figure.
08:30Of course, if you're familiar with Universal Soldiers, they're also carrying around,
08:35just so that they can monitor exactly what they're doing.
08:36They have these, you know, again, like these headband pieces that have the camera built into the side.
08:41Now, the little walkie-talkie, or the little mic piece down below, you've got to be really careful because it's very thin plastic.
08:49But that basically will just fit over top of Luke Devereaux's face.
08:52Kind of just want to bring it around so it covers over mostly his eyes.
08:55And that's what he looks like.
08:56Just bring it down maybe just a little bit more.
08:57Ah, that's perfect. That's perfect.
09:00You know, I will say that that adds a lot more to the figure.
09:02I mean, it's a case like this where you're not going to be able to strip down his armor.
09:05He certainly isn't going to be walking around naked outside the hotel room.
09:08Thank goodness for that.
09:09But yeah, you know, that's probably going to be the way I'm going to display the figure.
09:12It just, it feels right to have him with the headband.
09:15Granted, though, the figure does also have a couple of other swappable heads.
09:19Careful, careful to remove this.
09:21There we go.
09:22This, by the way, is his default head out of the packaging.
09:26I would not say it's the perfect Van Damme likeness, but, you know, to be fair, it's pretty close.
09:31And considering the size that these figures are as well,
09:33I think that's not a bad likeness of Jean-Claude Van Damme or Luke Devereaux.
09:36Now, Universal Soldier is my second favorite Van Damme movie right after Time Cop.
09:41Basically, it's Time Cop, Universal Soldier, and then Bloodsport.
09:44How can you beat Bloodsport?
09:45So he does come with this head sculpt, of course, with the crew top cut on the top of his head.
09:49Nicely done overall when it comes to the paint.
09:52I think, again, it looks fairly enough like him, but he does also come in clear with a smiling face.
09:57This might be also in the diner after he's just beaten up everybody.
10:00Man just, again, wants to eat.
10:02Face looks okay.
10:03The face looks a little awkward, especially with the way they've done the smile.
10:07But still, it's pretty good for the likeness of him, especially for his size.
10:10Then he also comes with a more angry expression.
10:13So I feel like a Sarge is about to get discharged.
10:17Good looking face.
10:18I mean, again, like, I think of really all the three, the neutral expression is the best of the bunch.
10:22So those are all his accessories, moving everything out of the way, getting then a closer look.
10:26I know we've already kind of looked a lot at his face sculpt.
10:29Overall, pretty good.
10:30His body does have the military armor over top of it.
10:33The one thing, unfortunately, about that, though, is it does add bulk to the side.
10:36It does make him look a lot wider than I feel the figure should really be.
10:40He does have, again, like the padding on the side.
10:42All the details are still there from the film.
10:44And it's tied up on the back of his body the exact same way.
10:47He's got a few pockets onto the side, of course, already knowing the fact that this one holsters the gun.
10:51The other side, actually, if I don't move this fist out of the way,
10:54the other side almost does look like there's, like, an elastic right here that you probably could attach another accessory if you want.
11:00Though he does have a pack on the side, the pack is already packed.
11:03Looks like it's got some padding inside.
11:04It's got a little zipper on the top.
11:05I wouldn't really necessarily be opening that.
11:07Nothing really on this guy suggests the idea that you'd be able to take off his suit.
11:11I feel like you probably will have to really leave the suit on.
11:14Unlike, though, Rambo, where you could, like, really strip the guy down.
11:17I think there's really a lot involved to kind of take anything off of this guy.
11:20You'd have to basically unstitch the back, take this all off.
11:23I would imagine, realistically, underneath this, it would be a workable suit.
11:28But I really don't know if I want to go in there and start to take off all his suit.
11:31Because once I decide to take that off, I think it would be impossible to get it back on his body.
11:36For the figure's articulation, it's pretty much on par with what you'd expect with all the other exquisite Super Series figures.
11:42Luke Devereaux does have, of course, the head that rotates all the way around.
11:45Head looks up, head looks down.
11:46You can also move it back and forth as well.
11:48Let's just say, though, you did want to change out the head.
11:50It's also just a case of popping off the head from the ball joint.
11:53Like that.
11:54Take the new head that you want to then use.
11:57And pop it in place.
11:59Now, I don't know.
12:01I mean, like, the head sculpt is fine.
12:03I don't know if I would ever really see myself displaying, honestly, Luke looking like this.
12:06Nor would I probably display him looking like this.
12:08Unless, of course, we also get ourselves Scott, which we are.
12:11So, of course, I'm going to be displaying.
12:13I guess that would be a good, strong contender if you want to have them battling each other at the very end of the film.
12:18His upper torso is on a ball joint, despite having all this additional padding on the front.
12:22His arms do, however, move out, even though they are super tight on this figure.
12:27This arm isn't so bad.
12:28This arm really is a nightmare when it comes to bending.
12:30And I just think it's boiling down to the fact.
12:32Well, first of all, I can't boil it.
12:34I can't soften up in hot water.
12:35But I think, though, that the joint is just super tight, just because it's brand new.
12:39Let's get the shoulder in the way there as well.
12:41He has a bicep swivel.
12:42Yeah, the figure does also have a double hinge on the elbow.
12:44Oh, there goes the hand.
12:45I'm going to have to go pick that up a little bit later.
12:47Upper torso ball joint.
12:48I know we've already looked at that.
12:49Full splits, although I don't know if I would say it's a Van Damme splits.
12:52That's as far, basically, as the figure's legs can really go.
12:55The legs, sure enough, can go forward, but only just a little bit.
12:57Because there's...
12:58I mean, again, like, this isn't a figure that you can be able to get super dynamic poses in.
13:02And sure enough, yeah, he has the display stand, but to get this kind of helicopter kick,
13:06that's as far as of a kick as you're probably going to be able to get,
13:09because it gets really tight right around here.
13:11Not that we really want to spend a whole lot of time looking at Van Damme's crotch.
13:14Sure enough, the figure does also have a swivel at the top of the thigh,
13:16a nice generous double hinge in the knee there.
13:19And then he's got the articulation, excuse me, articulation in the ankle.
13:23The only thing about the ankle, though, is that they've encased the boot in a softer plastic.
13:28There's no cut right here where you can get the obvious bend back and forth.
13:31In fact, when you actually are moving the leg,
13:33you can kind of really feel like there's a rubber underneath, like there's a rubber overlay.
13:37So yeah, well, it does move back and forth.
13:40It does limit some of that posability,
13:42and I would worry that over time that that may start to split the plastic.
13:45Still, though, it's a fantastic looking figure.
13:47Whether he's got his hand or not, I'm going to have to go and retrieve that a little bit later.
13:51It's a good looking figure.
13:52I mean, again, like Universal Soldier is one of my all-time favorite Van Damme movies by far.
13:57The figure has quite a lot of accessories going for him.
13:59Some swappable head skulls, but they'll do, to be really fair.
14:02Out of all the three options that they made available,
14:05maybe I could see myself displaying it with this one.
14:07I could really never see myself displaying Luke with a smiling face.
14:11I think, if anything, I'd be beelining it back to the defaulted head.
14:14Not only do I think it looks the most like Luke Devereaux,
14:16but it certainly looks the most like Jean-Claude Van Damme.
14:19All in all, again, a great looking figure.
14:20This guy slid at a drop in April 2025.
14:23I know we're kind of, well, we're getting near the end of April anyways.
14:25At the time, even when I get this video up, it might already be into May.
14:29But it's definitely, if you're a fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme and you love Universal Soldier,
14:32like I love Universal Soldier, it's definitely worth the pickup if you can find him.
14:37A helicopter kick?
14:38Okay, that's a bit of a stretch.
14:40Oh, I see what I did there.
14:41Well, unfortunately, you wouldn't be able to pull off some of Van Damme's more famous moves.
14:44The figure does look the part.
14:46Even though, like, the head sculpt, I think, could have probably been a little bit better.
14:49I think still the neutral expression, especially when you get the goggle headset over top of his face,
14:54I mean, it looks enough like Van Damme, especially for this size.
14:57And that's the most important thing to mention, too.
14:58For an exquisite super series of the size class that they are,
15:02I think they're pulling off really good likenesses on the characters.
15:04And really, when you think, you probably can count in one hand
15:07how many poseable Van Dammes we've ever gotten from other figure companies.
15:10Hyatt Toys, I think they've done a really nice job.
15:12There was also, I think, was it Daft Toys?
15:15Years and years ago, there was a six-scale company
15:17that had put out a couple of Universal Soldiers.
15:20I would have loved to have got my hands on Van Damme at that point.
15:22You know what I mean.
15:23Unfortunately, though, the prices were going crazy on him.
15:25This one is going a little bit more of an affordable price.
15:28He's a little over $100.
15:29And like I said, he is slated to drop in April 2025.
15:32A big thank you again to the folks over at Hyatt Toys.
15:35Yeah, they did provide the sample of the brand new,
15:37this is the Universal Soldier exquisite super series, Luke Devereaux.
15:43So cool.
15:43If you guys certainly did enjoy this video, you can do it a solid and throw it a like.
15:46You guys want to stick around for more, so?
15:48Yeah, I hope so.
15:49Hit that subscribe, turn on that bell, and of course, come back.
15:52While we are wrapping up things right now for Jean-Claude Van Damme,
15:55there will be more videos coming your way,
15:57so making sure you're coming back with Peepers Peeled.
15:59As always, guys, thanks for watching.
16:01See you guys next time.
