BROUGHT TO YOU IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE RHYTHM BUILDING at MUSIC ROW in NASHVILLE TENNESSEE and THERECORDSHOPNASHVILLE.COM

With a trademark sound of lush instrumentation, including layers of guitars, cello, viola, and dreamy synths; a unique blend of art-rock alternative has emerged. Hailing from East Nashville, Tennessee, The Auto Defiance is led by enigmatic songwriter Bradley Boyer. Joining to build this ornately complex wall of sound is a small collective of fellow indie musicians who, like Boyer, share a love for playing heavy, atmospheric songs, which take you from high-energy anthems to melodramatic ballads. Based in the heart of the artsy 5-points district in East Nashville, the band has turned it up a notch, adding live Viola and Cello alongside eerie, ambient vintage film footage projected onto the band.

Creating music without boundaries, The Auto Defiance playfully blurs the lines between alternative, indie Rock, and post punk. Writing in collaboration while holding regular studio sessions since becoming a band, the live performance is about exploring new sonic and visual film territory together. Small events that would mean little to the untrained eye, through Boyer's work are magnified to form a magical something greater in all of us. Inspired by larger than life characters such as pop artist Andy Warhol, to vocalists such as Jeff Buckley, and Morrissey of The Smiths; The Auto Defiance fully understand the power of iconography in music.

June 2009, their self-released EP "Damiana's Dream" carries you into a five song mini-melodrama. Soaked with cello, strings and a thick dose of guitars; each song tells a story. With Kory Murphy adding heavy guitar, feedback and synthy electronica over live stacked Cello and Viola string arrangements, which warmly blend together over Bradley's rhythmic acoustic guitar. Auto Defiance chameleon-like creation of grandiose art rock music is both endearing and inspiring
