00:00Kiss Country 99.9, we are backstage, Odyssey and Kiss Country Stars and Strings.
00:07We are TC and Dina B with Bailey Zimmerman.
00:10Bailey.
00:11What up?
00:12Last time we talked to you at Tortuga, we talked about Facebook Marketplace.
00:15Now I go and meet people at the police station anytime that I go and give something or make
00:20a deal or things like that.
00:21Okay.
00:22That's a smart decision.
00:23I am not a famous person with many hits though.
00:25You are.
00:26When you do the Facebook Marketplace game, how do you do it?
00:29Well, usually what I'm buying is from like good old boys.
00:32Okay.
00:33So, you know.
00:34So you're not worried.
00:35I've met up in many Walmart parking lots to trade wheels or, you know, buy stupid random
00:41things.
00:42Okay.
00:43So I'm not like too worried about it.
00:44Okay.
00:45And I'll bring my boys with me.
00:46Okay.
00:47We'll roll up like a little deep just to make sure.
00:48So you got a squad just to be safe.
00:49Yeah.
00:50I'm definitely not pulling up by myself.
00:51I was going to say.
00:52No, no.
00:53I'm going to bring a couple of buddies with me.
00:54Okay.
00:55That's smart.
00:56But I've always done that.
00:57That's smart.
00:58Just to be safe.
01:00Good old boys or not?
01:01No.
01:02Good old boys.
01:03Well, you know.
01:04Anyways.
01:05You know how it goes.
01:06For sure.
01:07All right.
01:08So we saw you at Tortuga.
01:09We also saw you, though, with Morgan.
01:10You killed it.
01:12Last time we saw you there, you were in a lifeguard shirt that you found backstage and
01:16you literally looked like you were on duty and it was awesome.
01:20What's up with this possible collab?
01:22Are we ever going to get one with Morgan, you think?
01:24Are you going to be able to spill the beans?
01:26I guess.
01:27Your guess is as good as mine, really.
01:29It really is.
01:30I don't know what's going on.
01:32We've kind of...
01:33I don't know.
01:34Okay.
01:35We're both really busy, so we haven't really got the chance to get together or hang out
01:39and write a song.
01:40Okay.
01:41But I'd imagine one day.
01:42It's going to happen.
01:43One day.
01:44I'm sure.
01:45Maybe he'll put out an ad.
01:46We're putting it out in the universe right now.
01:47Yeah.
01:48We're putting it out there right now.
01:49Or if he puts out an ad on Facebook Marketplace saying he needs a co-writer, you go meet him
01:53with your boys.
01:54Yeah.
01:55If you guys meet at Walmart.
01:56Or collab artist.
01:58And then I would be like, hey man, I'm interested.
02:01Is this still available?
02:02And then he would be like, oh yeah.
02:04And then we would meet up and then we'd be like, oh yeah, cool.
02:06And maybe we'll have a couple beers or something or hang out for a little bit.
02:10And then, yeah.
02:12I'm so ready.
02:13Yeah.
02:14For sure.
02:15Get on it.
02:16I would love that too.
02:17I would love a collab with Morgan.
02:18But in due time.
02:19In due time.
02:20Okay.
02:21Something that I think we've waited maybe enough time for now that maybe you can't control
02:23is album number two.
02:25Do we have any news on that?
02:26Yeah, can you spill the beans on that one?
02:28Single heavy, but album number two, we've been waiting patiently.
02:32But not so patiently.
02:33Well, so.
02:34Oh, they're in here.
02:35We're looking.
02:36We're looking.
02:37I would say.
02:38No, I would say.
02:40Are we hot and cold?
02:41Like, are we hot?
02:42Are we getting warmer to it?
02:43No, no.
02:44So last year, it was like a big year.
02:46We did a lot of things.
02:48And when we were getting ready to go cut this next album, I was going to put it out last
02:52year.
02:53Right.
02:54But it just didn't feel right.
02:55Like, I didn't, I wasn't super in love with some of the songs.
02:58I kind of needed a break anyways, just from life and just, you know, what's going on.
03:04And just kind of needed a little break this year.
03:06So I've kind of took this year to live more, to just give myself more time to maybe write
03:11songs that I, you know, wouldn't have got to put on this album.
03:14So yeah, I definitely wanted to put it out last year.
03:18I know people wanted me to, but at the same time, sometimes you got to do what's best
03:22for you.
03:23But at the same time, I really needed a break.
03:25I needed some downtime just to kind of not only chill, but like reminisce on what's been
03:31going on.
03:32You know, we've done two years, almost three, two years of tour with Morgan, and we've done
03:38a lot of stuff before that.
03:39So it was nice to take this year and just—
03:42Take it all in.
03:43Yeah, just take it all in and get to, you know, get some relationships better in my
03:46life.
03:47You know, work on myself as well.
03:51Yeah, so, but right now I'm like full album mode.
03:55I'm cutting songs.
03:56I've got a lot of songs that I'm like really in love with, and I'm continuing to get songs
04:01each day too.
04:02So I'm kind of just taking my time, and I really want it to be something I'm just so,
04:08so proud of.
04:09I want every single song to be something that I'm so proud of.
04:12And religiously, the album was like, there was a lot of songs I love, but there was also
04:18a couple of songs that I put on there that I didn't super love, but they were good.
04:24But this time I want it to be like, I love this.
04:28I'm dying to put this out.
04:30So that's where I'm trying to get to, to where I'm like, I got to get this out.
04:34I'm ready to go.
04:35And that's where I'm at, is like cutting songs in the studio.
04:40Not only that, but tracking songs, getting them ready to put out.
04:43I think I'm going to try to put out a single in January that I've got, that I'm really
04:48in love with.
04:50So yeah, just taking it easy though, because the last three years have been a really big
04:55whirlwind.
04:56Yeah, it's been a lot, and I'm very blessed, but also sometimes, I mean, it can be a lot
05:00for anybody.
05:01Of course.
05:02You used the word love a lot just then, so maybe we're going to get songs about the dogs,
05:07because we know you're, those dogs, by the way, are way more popular than us.
05:12Yeah, no.
05:13The dogs, I've tried to write, I've got one that I've been working on about Marley, but
05:19it's not there yet.
05:20Okay.
05:21I'm still working on it.
05:22Okay.
05:23But I could say on this next album, it's really just going to be a lot of reminiscing on just
05:35the hard battle that it was to get here, and the things that I've kind of been through
05:39and a certain relationship that I had to go through.
05:42That's where it stems from a lot, and yeah, I'm just trying to get it to where...
05:47It's so funny, because it actually really relates to my real life.
05:53I've really been trying to put it to bed, and I can't seem to put it to bed in my mind,
05:58and every day I think about it, and I really want this album to be something that kind
06:02of puts that to bed for me, and I can move on from it.
06:06So that's kind of, I think, why I'm taking my time, so I can really make sure I get everything
06:12that I want to say out, so then the next album doesn't have...
06:16Because I'm like...
06:17Yeah.
06:18Yeah, I'm tired of thinking about it every day.
06:19You don't have to do it anymore.
06:20Yeah, I'm tired of it kind of being something that weighs me down, and that's why I'm taking
06:23my time.
06:24So it can be truthful, honest, really, really me, to where when I'm touring these songs,
06:29I'm crying during them, I can feel them, and yeah.
06:33So I'm dialing it in, but definitely expect some heartbreak, and some sad shit, man, because
06:39it's sad.
06:40It really is, but yeah, I've also experienced, I'm experimenting too, which I'm super stoked
06:46about.
06:47Okay.
06:48I'm experimenting into some lanes that...
06:49Different sounds, different artists, clubs.
06:50Sounds, different drum patterns, different things that I haven't quite done yet.
06:54Okay.
06:55So yeah, I'm super excited, yeah.
06:57It's like all I think about every day, every night, yeah.
07:00Well, you talked about the past couple of years being a whirlwind.
07:03I mean, you've been go, go, go.
07:04CMA Awards coming up, so we'll end on a happy note here.
07:08New Artist Award, possibly at your fingertips.
07:12I mean, how does that feel this year?
07:14Oh man, it's crazy.
07:17It's really crazy.
07:19It's something that you really can't even put into words when you get it.
07:23It's been a lot of hard work, and that is where a lot of people in life don't get acknowledged
07:30for all their hard work and their efforts.
07:32So it's such a privilege to be able to be honored in front of a lot of people, and that's
07:39kind of what it was.
07:40The day I found out, it was nothing but just reflecting on...
07:44We worked literally so hard, not only to get a New Artist of the Year, you know, Nom, but
07:50just so hard to do what we're doing right now, and when you get news like that, it really
07:54makes you stop and think, like, wow.
07:57A lot went into this.
07:58There's a lot of people around the world that had to get in on this and believe in
08:03it, and now we've done it enough to be nominated in a massive thing.
08:09So yeah, you just reminisce on how crazy it was to get here, how many handshakes, how
08:15many people you met.
08:16How many pictures with doofuses like us.
08:19Right, right.
08:20That's it.
08:21Well, we'll be cheering hard for you at the CMAs.
08:25We are backstage here at Stars and Strings at the TC and D&B with Bailey Zimmerman.
08:29Let's go!
