Appam is a very popular breakfast / snacks recipe in South India. Generally served with Coconut Chutney.Chef Ruchi Bharani teaches how to make simple and easy to cook quick homemade dish.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Parboiled Rice
1/2 cup Urad Dal (white Lentils)
Chopped Capsicum
Chopped coriander leaves
1 ginger chilli paste
1/2 cup grated coconut
2 pinch soda bicarb
Salt
Method:
Soak the the urad dal and rice separately for at least 6 - 7 Hrs
- Grind the urad dal and rice seperately using minimal water in a mixer to make a smooth paste.
- Mix the two and let it ferment for about 6 - 7 hrs.
- Add chopped capsicum, coriander leaves, ginger chilli paste, grated coconut and mix everything well.
- Turn on the flame and brush oil on the pan
- Add soda bicarb, salt to the batter and mix well
- Pour a spoonful of the batter in the pan and drizzile some oil from top
- Flip them over and fry till golden brown.
- The hot appam is ready to be served with Coconut Chutney .
