A man in Marysville, California won the lottery just one day after his wife passed away. 55-year-old Timothy McDaniel purchased a 1 dollar scratcher ticket from a local market on a recent Sunday.

Just a day prior to buying the ticket, his wife unexpectedly passed away after a heart attack. McDaniel, who works as a truck driver, won $650,000 as a result of that inexpensive ticket.

He’s decided to accept a lump sum payment of 375 grand. According to McDaniel, the new windfall has come at the perfect moment.

He commented ‘I think she just kind of sent me this money so I could continue taking care of the grandkids… I'm going to keep on working and living my life the same I always have. The only difference is I have a big family, and now if anybody needs anything, I can help them out.’

McDaniel hopes to purchase a house and truck with his new cash. He plans to put the reminder of the winnings in a savings account.
