The sight is stunning to say the very least. The dark starry sky began showcasing fleeing tints of green before a vibrant hue passed over the natural surroundings.
The Northern Lights show went down at approximately 11 P.M. on Wednesday. The footage is a series of ‘20 second exposures’ taken once every 45 seconds.
The lime green color is striking on film, though staffers note the hue was less pronounced in person. Some Montana residents snapped their own photos of the display.
Most of them were taken north of Great Falls and they all depict the green lights beautifully illuminating the starry sky.
According to NASA, “the northern lights are caused by collisions between fast-moving particles electrons from space and the oxygen and nitrogen gas in our atmosphere.”
