Just days before Christmas, a couple walked into a pet store and stole a dog in plain view of two children. The group, which seems to be a family of four, entered Nessy's Puppies of Kendall in Florida together and immediately started looking at the dogs in their crates.

The man soon lifted one leg up over the indoor fence and reached the latch on one particular cage. He appeared to hand one to the adult woman but when the other fell out of the cage, he returned them to their crate and climbed back over the fence.

At that point, he calmly went back to checking out the puppies. A short time later, he hopped over the fence a second time, opened the same cage and snatched an 8-month-old Yorkie.

The man handed the dog over to the woman, presumably his wife, and she concealed it under her skirt before they all walked out of the store. While they were in the shop a sales manager, Gabby Ortega, approached them and later remarked “I asked them if they needed help, and they wouldn't even look at me. They just said, 'no,' and they wouldn't leave. They definitely came in here wanting to take the dog.”

What surprises Ortega the most is how the couple carried out the theft in front of the two girls. Police are combing through the surveillance footage but have not yet been able to ascertain if the adults and children are actually related to one another.
