The Mercosur trade bloc, which brings together South America’s largest economies, held its Summit in Paraguay. It was the first to be attended by new Argentinian President Mauricio Macri, who criticized Venezuela for human rights abuses during the summit, but said he will not follow through on his previously announced his intention to push for Venezuela’s suspension from the bloc. Venezuela’s foreign minister pointed out that Macri and his party have consistently opposed human rights trials for collaborators with Argentina’s former military dictatorship. teleSUR
