On Monday, John Podesta, the chairman of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, announced the Democratic presidential nominee is looking forward to the 3 presidential debates scheduled in September and October.
He also commented that the, “only issue now is whether Donald Trump is going to show up."
Podesta recalled the GOP candidate’s earlier grumblings about 2 of the face-offs being held during NFL games, notes CBS News.
In July, Trump publicly voiced his objections to the events coinciding, and campaign staffers appealed to the debate commission for a change of dates.
The request was denied, and it was noted that between national holidays and sporting events occurring during debate season, such conflicts were almost entirely unavoidable.
As such, rescheduling is something that simply doesn’t happen.
Though Trump hasn’t indicated an intention to bow out, he has established a history of doing so.
During the primaries, he skipped 2 debates and threatened to not show for 2 others.
