00:00 Oh boy!
00:01 This is already the 8th episode of Animal Battle, it will still have a lot of awesome
00:05 candidates for the title "The Best Animal in the World".
00:09 And maybe the candidates of this video aren't as big as other well-known felids, but believe
00:13 me, what they might like in science, they'll surely make up for with their other superpowers.
00:18 So without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to present you our two competitors.
00:25 The Eurasian Lynx vs. The Snow Leopard.
00:28 So at the end of the video I will announce the winner of the last Animal Battle between
00:32 the Hippo and the Rhino, so don't miss it.
00:34 Let's do it!
00:35 I'm Mario and this is Animal Battle.
00:44 In order to find out which of the two animals is the winner, we are going to evaluate them
00:48 by six different characteristics.
00:50 Agility, Attack, Defense, Intelligence, Bonus Skill and Survival.
00:57 So only being more powerful isn't enough, because the other stats are important too.
01:01 So let's jump right into the Agility stats.
01:03 This is going to be really interesting, because both of them are very good at this.
01:07 Even though they are considerably smaller than lions, Eurasian Lynxes can reach an incredible
01:12 speed of up to 80 km/h.
01:14 And Snow Leopards are even faster, even though they usually run with a speed of 56-64 km/h.
01:20 Over Short Birds, Snow Leopards can reach up to 90 km/h.
01:24 And they have other adaptations for even better Agility stats.
01:28 Both Eurasian Lynx and the Snow Leopard have large paws to distribute the body weight for
01:32 walking on snow and have fur on their side to increase the grip on steep surfaces.
01:36 And Snow Leopards are masters at walking on steep surfaces.
01:39 Just look at him!
01:44 Ok, maybe sometimes they make mistakes, but nonetheless, they are just incredible hikers.
01:54 Eurasian Lynxes are also very good climbers, being able to climb trees with ease and can
01:57 also swim.
01:58 One more characteristic that they both have are their strong legs.
02:02 Using them, Lynxes can jump up to 2 meters in height.
02:06 If you thought that is impressive, then wait until you hear that Snow Leopards can jump
02:10 as high as 6 meters.
02:12 Also they can jump as far as 15 meters, which is just incredible.
02:16 And they use their long tail for balance.
02:18 So let's see their Agility stats.
02:24 They have very high Agility stats as expected, Snow Leopards being slightly better here.
02:29 Now let's talk about their Intelligence.
02:31 Both of them are smart animals, because like the other felids, they are predators and hunting
02:35 requires a higher level of intelligence.
02:38 Comparing their Intelligence stats is pretty hard, because we can't say that one is smarter
02:42 due to it having a larger brain, because in most cases it is not necessarily true.
02:46 And that's why it will be a tie here.
02:48 So here you have their Intelligence stats.
02:55 Good.
02:57 Before going to attack and defense stats, we are going to take a short look at their
03:00 bonus skills.
03:01 Snow Leopards have small ears for losing less heat and a thick and white fur used for camouflage.
03:06 All of these adaptations are ideal for living in cold climates.
03:10 Also, even though they are classified as big cats, Snow Leopards can not roar, but they
03:14 can still try and their attempts are pretty funny.
03:22 Both Snow Leopards and Eurasian Lynxes compare.
03:28 This makes Lynxes resemble a bigger domestic cat.
03:31 Also, they have a very good hearing due to their ear shape.
03:35 But that's about it for bonus skills.
03:41 As you can see their bonus skill stats are not that high.
03:43 Now we are going to go to the most interesting part of the video, the attack and defense
03:48 stats.
03:49 Eurasian Lynxes are the largest lynx species.
03:51 They can reach lengths of up to 80 to 130 cm and have a short 11 to 25 cm tail.
03:57 They can weight from 18 to 30 kg, the largest one recorded weighting 45 kg.
04:03 Snow Leopards are slightly larger than them, having a head and body length of 75 to 150
04:08 cm and a very long tail which can measure up to 105 cm.
04:13 They can also weight around 22 to 55 kg, occasionally reaching even 75 kg.
04:19 Even though Lynx are not that big, they prefer relatively large ungulates.
04:23 They are stock and ambush predators and can prey on small sized animals like rabbits and
04:26 hares, martens, red foxes and even wild boars, moose and reindeers.
04:33 And as we can see they can use their jumping and climbing abilities to knock out birds
04:36 too.
04:37 Snow Leopards are impressive hunters too.
04:39 They can kill animals 2 to 4 times their weight, which includes most animals in its range.
04:44 Just look at this incredible chase.
04:52 The only animal it cannot kill is the adult male yak, which is just too big and powerful.
04:57 To mark their territory, snow leopards rub particular rocks with their cheeks, although
05:00 they are not as territorial and aggressive.
05:03 In fact, the snow leopard has not been reported to attack humans.
05:06 That makes it the least aggressive to humans of all big cats.
05:09 They don't have any problems with defense because they don't usually encounter competitors.
05:14 Eurasian lynxes, on the other hand, have a few competitors.
05:17 Wolves have been known to attack and even eat lynx.
05:20 Wolverines might also kill lynxes sometimes.
05:22 So here you have their attack and defense stats.
05:28 We can observe that snow leopards are better at attack and defense because they are larger
05:32 and have less competitors.
05:34 And last but not least, let's talk about their survival stats, because there's no point in
05:38 having high stats if the species is going extinct.
05:42 Eurasian lynxes are doing great here, being listed as the least concerned species.
05:46 Their population is stable and are widely distributed across Europe and Asia.
05:50 Usually the mother lynx gives birth to 1 to 4 kittens, which are going to live about 13
05:55 years in the wild.
05:56 Snow leopards are doing worse here, being classified as a vulnerable species.
06:00 There are less than 10,000 of them in the wild, and their population is estimated to
06:04 decline about 10% in the next 23 years.
06:08 They can give birth to 1 to 5 cubs at once, which have a pretty high life expectancy,
06:12 living up to 15 to 18 years in the wild.
06:15 And here you can see their survival stats.
06:21 Even though they don't have impressively high attack and defense stats, both snow leopards
06:25 and Eurasian lynx make up for it with their high agility stats.
06:29 But who is the winner?
06:30 It is up to you, because you can vote the winner in the poll right there and share your
06:34 opinion in the comments down below.
06:36 Also, why not show others how cool lynxes and snow leopards are, sharing this video
06:40 with your friends, hopefully you have friends, with your family, and I know that your babushka
06:45 will like it too.
06:48 Alright, now it is the time to announce the winner of the last battle between the hippo
06:52 and the white rhino.
06:53 So the animal that the majority of you voted and the winner is…
06:59 The white rhinoceros!
07:00 It is a really impressive and bulky animal, but even though some of you wished that the
07:04 hippo would win, you shouldn't be upset, because we should realize that all animals
07:09 are amazing.
07:10 So, once again, don't forget to vote for the winner of the battle between the Eurasian
07:13 lynx and the snow leopard in the top right corner, and if you enjoy my videos, why not
