00:00 So, fingers crossed, I did say earlier on that I hope it stays on, so don't worry, this
00:07 should stay on now, we're on box number 2, box number 2 is the way forward and box number
00:14 2 is the one to go with.
00:17 So, where were we?
00:19 We were on box number 2, so we're on box number 2.
00:22 So, we're on box number 2, so we're on box number 2.
00:25 So, we're on box number 2, so we're on box number 2.
00:33 So, we were working from the apex through to the mustoid process, which again I said
00:39 to subdivide the haircut and that will then give us the discipline.
00:43 Right, the razor blade, let's come around this side.
00:47 So, two sides to a razor, we've got a cutting edge which you can see just there, and we've
00:53 got a thinning edge which you can see looks like that.
00:56 So, think of it as a pair of thinning scissors and think of that as a cutting edge of a pair
01:01 of scissors.
01:02 So, always make sure, because what we're going to do now is bring you around this way, Dad,
01:06 thank you for you, that's it.
01:08 Come on, my dear, my little friend, that's it, use that on there, I can see some people
01:12 on there.
01:13 Who have we got with us tonight?
01:14 David Beckwith.
01:15 David Beckwith, nice to see you, top man, hope you're OK, looking forward to the challenge
01:20 this week.
01:21 Of course, I'm up against you, should be interesting.
01:23 Catch, James.
01:24 Catch!
01:25 Conjuice, nice to see you, Conjuice.
01:27 Are you OK, bro?
01:28 So, we're going to be going from a slightly longer version here, way below the jawline,
01:33 cutting down to the length that we've got on the side.
01:35 You can see the split ends now, that will take it all out in one go, so we're going
01:38 to be looking for a C-shaped curvature.
01:40 Now, by using the razor blade slightly at an angle towards yourself as you cut it, it
01:45 creates more of a solid line, which then will work better with finer hair, finer texture.
01:52 If you were turning it more towards the hair, it would make it more softer and more texturised,
01:56 so we need to be thinking about keeping it solid on this hair cut, on this approach.
02:00 OK, about there, about there, there, perfect, good stuff.
02:05 OK, so zero elevation, again, elevation, zero elevation, so now just keep it really nicely
02:11 combed as we're coming through.
02:12 Now, leave it slightly longer to allow shrinkage when you do the blow-dry, keeping the blade
02:16 towards yourself.
02:17 Now, your hand has to move while you're doing this.
02:20 If it stays in one place, then you'll find that you will not get the cut.
02:23 As you can see now, that's creating that shape, we've already started it.
02:27 You can glide it if you want to as well, which I'll now just demonstrate as you go in there.
02:31 Glide it round as you do it, and that really starts to cut it, and you can start to really
02:36 see that C-shaped curvature really come in.
02:38 Something a little bit different, a lot of people don't think of cutting this as C-shaped
02:42 curvature, but it is, it's important because you're doing a letter C as you're cutting,
02:46 so the way that you produce that is by pulling your fingers as I'm doing now, and keeping
02:50 the length at the bottom from going slightly shorter, and that now starts to create that
02:55 real C-shape, which is pretty cool stuff.
02:58 We used to do this at Tony and Garn London in 1992, so it's really stood the test of
03:02 time, this is a great technique, and you can really see that shape coming through there
03:06 now, hopefully, well Stacey's smiling so we're alright.
03:09 I won't get beat up here, that's good.
03:12 So now we have a slight disconnection between the two, so we'll just join those two together.
03:17 Josh, hey guys, you've just joined us, quick give them a little wave.
03:21 There you go, your mum's looking happy.
03:24 Let me just come round to your side, that's it.
03:26 Lauren Wright.
03:27 Lauren Wright, good to see you tonight, Lauren Wright, hope you're okay.
03:30 Come round here my little friend.
03:32 I'll get you to come round here and join me, that's it, we'll just do this side, that's
03:36 it.
03:37 So again, zero elevation, we're looking for a clue where we were before on the other side,
03:41 and then we're just coming back the other side as we do this, just keeping the blade
03:45 slightly turned towards my finger, and then again we'll just do some sliding on it as
03:50 we go through.
03:51 Speak up a little bit, smart, you're looking for me.
03:53 Who's saying that?
03:54 Me.
03:55 Right, what was that, your hearing aid turned down?
03:57 Yeah, I don't know the job to hear you.
03:59 Sorry, I apologise.
04:01 It's because I'm relaxing.
04:03 Right, so now we're just joining the two together and creating a nice connection between the
04:09 disconnection.
04:10 So you can now hopefully see, just check this off, you can see then you've got the graduation,
04:16 it comes into a perfect C both sides, which is the most important part.
04:21 Right, so now we're going to go into the layers in the back.
04:24 Just get the scissors.
04:28 Right, so now we work from again, we're going to go from the apex to the mastoid process,
04:33 which again is the starting point on all of this haircut tonight.
04:36 What we'll be doing now is a layer that will be more of a solid layer, that will give us
04:41 the flick, and it will give us length, and it will also give us height and body.
04:47 So it's got a lot of things going on with it, and you have to think about the angle
04:50 you're working at, and also the position you're working in.
04:55 So if it's a fixed guideline, it will stay as a fixed guideline and be quite heavy, so
05:02 you have to think about it as a moving guide.
05:04 Now we're going to start a bit higher this time, we're going to go from the occipital
05:09 bone.
05:10 For the simple fact, if it was a little bit lower, you'd be making more work for yourself.
05:15 So this is called condensed cutting.
05:17 That's it.
05:18 Thank you.
05:19 That's it.
05:20 It seems strange me bossing my dad around and telling him what to do.
05:27 So now you can see, you can see the sectioning is there, nice and clean.
05:33 So the important part now is we lift this up.
05:36 Now everything on this side of the haircut, on the left, the thumb will lead and go that
05:41 way.
05:42 Everything on the right hand side of the haircut, the thumb will lead and go that way.
05:45 So what you have to remember is, give us a bit of space.
05:50 Give us a bit of space.
05:51 Thank you.
05:52 Sorry, space.
05:53 Space, I've got to get my arm up.
05:54 Go on.
05:55 Right, so you see, by pulling it out slightly, you can see that now this is the length here.
06:01 If we go any shorter than that, that will start to cut the length too short.
06:04 We've now got this here, which we now need to keep this here elevated because if we go
06:09 too low, it will start to drag and start looking too long.
06:12 So the idea is we keep it all the same length.
06:15 So you can see now, there is the length, that's the weight, we take it off.
06:18 This is basically like a triangle.
06:20 Cutting to the second knuckle, which again is the discipline.
06:23 I'm now going to walk around to seven o'clock and move around slightly because it's a moving
06:27 guide.
06:28 If you stay at six, it won't work for what we need to do.
06:32 So we ideally now need to pull this towards me, where my body's positioned, because that's
06:36 the discipline of where I am.
06:38 So I'm now moving around to eight o'clock.
06:40 So if you think of the clock when you do it, replicate everything you're doing, then you'll
06:44 see the finish afterwards.
06:46 Again, you need to be cutting to the second knuckle because it's really, really important,
06:49 because that's your discipline part just there.
06:52 Okay, so that's side one.
06:54 We now need to come back around to side two, which we can then use with the thumb to lead
06:59 again.
07:00 So on this side of the haircut, the thumb's going that way.
07:03 So you now need to be really disciplined as you pull it out, and you literally, as you
07:07 pull that out, you can then see that you've got, that's the length, and then you take
07:11 it off to the second knuckle.
07:12 And now move around to five o'clock, keeping it nice and clean on the section.
07:18 Again, you can see the weights there, what needs to come off.
07:21 If you can keep it below the second knuckle, then that's your discipline just there.
07:25 Dead easy to really sort of lose your concentration and sort of use it above the second knuckle,
07:32 and then before you know it, you start hacking your fingers, which is not good.
07:36 And to cross-check this off, have you done that before?
07:40 I can tell.
07:42 Come underneath, pull it to the angle where you've been cutting, and you can see there
07:46 everything's perfect, it should be.
07:48 Now we come around to this side, just pull that out there, and again, it's a question
07:53 of standing to the position that you've cut at.
07:55 If you pull it all back there, it will not look right, so you need to pull it to exactly
07:59 where you came from.
08:00 Right, now we can see it's starting to liven up and look a bit more interesting.
08:03 This is what I really like now, because it starts looking really exciting there.
08:07 Cool.
08:08 Can you get some light?
08:09 So we'll go back to where we started.
08:11 Okay, that's it.
08:14 You're doing great, don't worry.
08:20 Okay, so now, see how I'm keeping it really clean and tight as I pull this out?
08:24 So there's the piece we cut to, it's just coming through the top, now to the second
08:30 knuckle.
08:31 Anybody else appear yet, Dad?
08:33 Matthew Sidwell.
08:35 Matthew Sidwell, good to see you earlier on, brother.
08:38 I hope you're okay, everything's positive in your life, and we know it's going really
08:41 well.
08:42 You need to inform me on what's happening.
08:44 You looked very positive earlier, so I'm guessing everything's all right.
08:48 Laura Weisselier.
08:50 Laura, good to see you with us tonight.
08:52 I hope you're okay.
08:53 I haven't seen you on the road for a long time, I've not had a chance to flash my headlights
08:57 at you.
08:58 I flash my lights at her, it's a bit of a joke.
09:01 If you watched weeks ago, you'll know what I'm talking about.
09:04 She'll be laughing to herself now, hilarious.
09:06 So yeah, it's all nice.
09:08 So you can see we're going through just there.
09:10 Good to see you with us tonight, Laura, I hope you're well.
09:12 So again, second knuckle, really important.
09:14 So this is ideal, this layer, for anybody who wants to keep their hair long, but have
09:18 some shape in it.
09:19 It's just a great way, because a lot of people say, I really would like to keep my hair long,
09:23 but can you just sort of give me a layer that is something that will work and make it look
09:27 a bit interesting.
09:28 This is an ideal method to do that.
09:30 The only thing you've got to be aware of is that you're taking a corner off.
09:33 Some people don't like taking corners off.
09:36 So we're back into the corner over there, that's it.
09:38 It's like a dirty dancing.
09:39 Nobody puts me down in the corner.
09:41 That's it.
09:43 That's the one.
09:45 You hang on the stairs, give yourself a break.
09:47 As you can see now again, the thumb.
09:50 I like to keep this just a bit.
09:52 Jessica Allen.
09:53 Jessica Allen!
09:54 Woo!
09:55 Woo!
09:56 Good to see you again tonight.
09:59 Former member of the jam, a long time ago there.
10:02 I used to try and pull a little taxi.
10:04 I'll probably work that out.
10:06 Jessica Allen.
10:07 It's all good.
10:08 So now you can see that as we come around this side, you've got to be equally as disciplined
10:12 with this as you were the original side.
10:14 So you can see now, second knuckles, discipline.
10:17 And again, it's the elbow, it takes where we're going with this, which is really important.
10:23 Okay, so we've now got the next layers produced there as we're working up slowly.
10:30 So it's starting to cascade and give it a nice shape.
10:33 Again, with the Fatmouth Black Moose that's sitting already in the volumizing spray, we
10:37 can really start to see the shape starting to create its natural look.
10:42 So now what we do is we lose the clips and we go back to the start again, alright?
10:48 Okay?
10:49 Yeah.
10:50 So I'll come over to this side.
10:53 Everything has to work in a procedure, a process.
10:57 A bit like a checklist.
10:59 So now you see the layers are up to the height of the head.
11:03 You only get a tiny amount, so again, you just want to be really careful you don't produce
11:07 any drag and everything stays elevated.
11:09 That's the key word, elevation.
11:11 So then you can sort of see the shape.
11:13 Christy Davis.
11:14 Christy Davis.
11:15 Nice to see the prisoner tonight.
11:18 I'm hoping that the jailer's okay.
11:20 Happy birthday to the jailer.
11:22 If he's watching tonight, they are so sexy.
11:25 They've all got nicknames.
11:26 I've got quite a lot of nicknames.
11:28 Hope you're okay.
11:29 I'm guessing you're out for a romantic meal for two tonight and you're watching us live.
11:33 Or you're about to go out for a romantic meal for two.
11:36 I hope the jailer's gone out for his birthday tonight.
11:39 Not to the jailhouse in the Neaton either.
11:41 There is a place called the jailhouse.
11:44 Should try it sometime.
11:46 Great burgers.
11:47 Right, you see now we're just coming back to the corner of the chair or to the mastoid process.
11:53 This then just gives us a nice shape just there.
11:55 Can you go back to the side, dad, again if you can, please?
11:58 That's it.
11:59 Nice stuff.
12:00 It's fast moving tonight, this is.
12:01 Now we're on the different box, we can move around you see, as before we used to have to stay in the same place.
12:06 So that's really cool.
12:07 It's almost like a little workout, isn't it, dad, for you?
12:09 Is that my T-shirt you got on?
12:10 I'll do about ten more at the end of the night.
12:12 Is that my T-shirt you got on?
12:13 Yeah, if you want it back.
12:14 Yeah, is that alright?
12:15 I'll have it back later.
12:16 Is that OK?
12:17 I should have put my coat on.
12:20 Jennifer Bell.
12:21 Jennifer Bell, nice to see you.
12:22 I hope you're really well, sweetheart, and I hope you're recovering also from your operation.
12:26 Great to see you with us tonight.
12:28 I'm guessing you're watching from the comfort of your own home tonight, but it's nice to have you with us.
12:34 Jill Pedley.
12:35 Jill Pedley, nice to see you.
12:36 There's Big Mate.
12:37 Woo, there he is going by, Big Mate.
12:39 I'll bet he's going by.
12:41 Jill Pedley, nice to see you.
12:43 Hug him, my darling.
12:44 I hope Edward's good as well.
12:45 Nice to see him the other week when I went out sailing.
12:47 Fantastic to see him with us tonight as well.
12:50 That was Big Mate.
12:51 I thought Big Mate was on, but he's obviously not.
12:53 Leave him a reaction, see if he's watching.
12:55 He'll be there in a minute.
12:56 Just to get his little bit of his moment.
12:59 It's brilliant.
13:01 It's brilliant.
13:03 Great to see you.
13:04 You see now this corner, again, bringing the hair back to the corner of the chair, to the mastoid process.
13:09 It's really, really important, and again, it just keeps it all nice and strong.
13:13 Okay, so now we've got the lower part of the layers below the head.
13:19 Just now I need to do the upper part of the layers.
13:22 Just check it off again to make sure everything's nice and level.
13:25 It's just got a lot of hair here.
13:27 Just have to make sure it's right.
13:28 So there we go.
13:29 You can see the shapes really starting to come together now.
13:31 You can really see that movement there.
13:33 So I'm now going to work in this section of the head, between the apex and the occipital bone,
13:37 and through to the top.
13:38 Then we'll be disappearing for a break,
13:40 which will give you a comfort break to put your children to bed,
13:44 get your children dinner, if they're having a late dinner.
13:47 Some people do that.
13:49 They do.
13:50 Watch your standers and catch up on that.
13:52 Chris Allen.
13:53 Chris Allen, great to see you with us tonight.
13:55 Your beard is looking really cool, by the way, brother, I have to say.
13:58 Really good after about 45 days of it, it looks really good.
14:01 I'm looking forward very much to seeing when you come in.
14:02 I should say, pal, I'm looking forward to seeing when you come in.
14:06 Nikki Gower.
14:08 Nikki Gower.
14:09 Nikki Gower.
14:10 Good to see you, Nikki Gower.
14:11 Hope you're okay, my darling.
14:13 Another one of our models tonight.
14:15 It's all good, they all come and join us.
14:17 As you can see now, I've come around, taken the tie-strap off again.
14:20 Again, it's really important because you're looking at the roundness of the head as you're doing this on the score,
14:25 and it's the elbow that dictates what we're doing.
14:29 So we've got to keep these layers really, really strong and really, really straight as you're doing this.
14:36 Again, if you put it like this, as you've probably seen, it's not good.
14:41 So you need to keep it really, really tight.
14:43 Okay, so we'll just come around to this side.
14:45 I'll just move you around slightly more, just hold on for a second.
14:48 Turn for them just for a second.
14:50 There you go, these chairs turn.
14:52 What the chair will be like tomorrow night at the brewery, I'm guessing it'll probably be a fixed seat.
14:57 I'll be doing all the running around tomorrow.
15:00 It's probably going to take a while to get down tomorrow night, I'll make it a bit easier.
15:03 So now you can see the arm goes up, again, it's just the second knuckle which keeps it all in proportion.
15:11 This is called weight distribution because we're distributing the weight in the layers as we're doing this.
15:15 So again, it's really important.
15:16 You can see it has just given it a little bit of movement.
15:18 You can see the products, the Mook products are really bringing it alive.
15:21 See all the movement, and again, we pre-washed Stacy's hair earlier on with the Mook Blonding Shampoo,
15:27 which again really has brought out the blonde.
15:29 Now we're going to be working on the parietal ridge, which is just here.
15:32 It's where most people put their partings.
15:34 So we're just going to be working a square layer now to this point, a rounded layer past this point,
15:39 and that will give us a nice heart shape to the bottom.
15:42 So if I move Dad over to this other side here, we should get a better angle.
15:47 That's it. Magic stuff, magic stuff.
15:51 There you go, right, so keep everything up nice and square.
15:54 It's the parietal ridge that's there as the discipline.
15:57 We're going to lift it up slightly. We're going to go in there just to take off the weight, which you can see.
16:05 Don't want our model passing out tonight, do we?
16:09 Right, here's really important. You've got the length, which is the length of the hair.
16:13 That's the length of the layer on the top. It's a little triangle weight in between.
16:16 Obviously, make sure everybody's awake doing that.
16:20 I love how you didn't even flinch. That was great.
16:22 I do that with people in the morning when they look as if they're half asleep.
16:25 We'll just hold you there.
16:27 Graham Baxter.
16:29 Graham Baxter. Punk. Good to see you, Punk. Hope you're okay.
16:33 I will come and visit your salon. I need to come visit Salon Ice at some point and come and see you.
16:39 I hope you're well. I'm sure you recognise the surroundings where we are tonight.
16:43 Punk used to be my assistant, my future professional. That's what I used to call him.
16:48 Maria Cook.
16:50 Maria, nice to see you with us tonight. Maria, I hope you're really well.
16:53 Thank you for joining us this evening. Hope you're okay.
16:55 Again, now at the parietal ridge. Just a slight bend. You can see the length there.
16:59 Take that weight off.
17:01 Jennifer Hirons.
17:03 My next-door neighbour. Hello, sweetheart. Hope you're okay.
17:07 If you're in your hot tub watching this tonight or wherever you are, I'm guessing you're probably away working.
17:12 Hope you're alright. Hope Damo's okay.
17:14 Good to see you. A bit different to being in your kitchen.
17:17 We did do live feed from my kitchen in the week.
17:20 She lives in a house like this. That's it.
17:23 Just wanted to do something a little bit different.
17:25 Again, a rounded layer now. As we're coming through, you can see we're doing the top part again.
17:30 The really important part here is the discipline we're working with.
17:32 So it's the arm. It stays really straight.
17:35 Again, if people bend the arm, it tends to bend the hair, which then makes it longer one side to the other,
17:40 which is why when people say, "When I've cut hair, I can never understand why one side's longer than the other."
17:45 It's basically the arm.
17:46 So when you're doing this side, push it up with your elbow.
17:49 When you're doing the other side, pull it down.
17:51 That is really where the discipline is because, again, it's all about how you stand.
17:54 Put your feet together. Make sure your guest has not got their legs crossed.
17:58 Then you'll find that if you use your arm on the mechanics, you'll find it will come together perfectly.
18:04 That's the length. We don't need to go any shorter.
18:06 That's the last piece.
18:08 So now we're going to go through the top and just cross-check.
18:10 Now remember, anything below this line is completely different.
18:14 So anything above the parietal ridge, we now need to cross-check in a square layer.
18:18 So everything goes up square because that's what we cut it at, a square layer.
18:24 Alison Broughton.
18:25 Alison Broughton. Nice to see you there with us tonight. Hope you're okay.
18:28 Martin as well and Baby Michael. Hope you're okay.
18:31 Cool Baby Michael's there, didn't they? Give him his first haircut. He was dead cute as well.
18:35 Really, really well behaved. That's absolutely brilliant.
18:37 Alison Broughton works out of me as well. She was a sex-savvy.
18:40 So rounded layer, just through to the top.
18:44 Yeah, all on tonight. That's good.
18:46 So, we've got the side one there. Let's go through to side two.
18:50 If I move you slightly and you stay where you are there, I'll set you to sit from the front as I do it.
18:54 So parietal ridge is just slightly about here.
18:57 So we've only got a tiny amount this time to do on a square layer.
19:00 So again, it's really important we just lift this up.
19:03 Again, really disciplined on this part. We're just going straight up in the air.
19:07 So, arm goes up. There it is.
19:10 Now the rounded layer from the parietal ridge.
19:13 Ross Cunningham's favourite bone.
19:16 And again, now we go to the next part which is again, put that parietal ridge in as you're cutting.
19:21 Really important to put the parietal ridge in because that's the important part.
19:24 You see the split ends coming off now as I'm doing this because we're only taking the tiniest amount off.
19:28 Which again, just keeps it nice and tidy.
19:31 Then we replicate it again. It's all very clean as you can see I'm working.
19:35 It's all in little sections, nothing too big.
19:38 So it makes it nice and comfortable while you're doing it because if you start taking big sections, you start making big mistakes.
19:46 So you just have to keep it all nice and clean.
19:49 And again, clean sections, clean haircut.
19:52 You can see now the last sections have come out to do this.
19:55 Just comb it through.
19:57 And then you just take that tiny amount off there.
19:59 We now cross check so we go on the parietal ridge above that.
20:02 Just lift it all up square.
20:05 Make sure it's level.
20:07 And then everything that's rounded on the rounded layer just to make sure that that's all ok as well.
20:12 We then just cross check that off as well and I'm quite happy with it.
20:15 As you can now see everything's there.
20:17 Just making sure it's all level which it feels pretty level to me.
20:21 That does.
20:24 And that's just a great way to check it off, just to lift that up.
20:27 So we'll just have a quick look from the back.
20:29 Just bring the camera around so you can see.
20:32 So just slowly drying out now.
20:33 You can really start to see that movement in the hair.
20:35 So it gives us lots of options.
20:37 Look, if you blow dry it straight, it will go under nicely and give us a rounded shape.
20:41 If you were to blow dry it curly, you can see the different layers of curl that are going on there.
20:46 If you were to blow dry it flicked, it would flick out quite nicely.
20:49 So what we're going to do now is we'll disappear.
20:51 We'll be using more of the volumising spray tonight, the Femalemark volumising spray.
20:57 Then we'll be adding, because again I'm a risk taker, we'll be adding some beard oil, which is like the spa oil to blow dry with.
21:05 Then we'll come back into, after the blow dry, we'll come back into then using the Muck Style Stick,
21:12 which we'll then be using that also to create movement.
21:15 When we come back, we'll be disappearing in a minute so you'll be able to take a comfort break and relax
21:21 and watch TV, cook your own dinner, have some fish finger sandwiches, have a nice steak,
21:25 whatever you decide to have tonight.
21:27 We'll then come back and you'll see us in the last part doing the curls and I'll show you how we've been doing those tonight.
21:32 In the meantime, thank you very much for staying with us.
21:34 We are on Box 2, Box 2, fortunate stay as I've got.
21:37 We'll be with you very soon. Enjoy the rest of your evening.
21:39 I hope you'll come and join us for the end of the beautiful Stacey's house that we're seeing.
21:43 Take care. Ciao from us. Goodnight. Ciao.
