00:00 Every time I bring home a crate, she will start freaking out, tail wagging, shrieking.
00:04 See what's going on in there.
00:06 That was fun.
00:07 I'm Asa and this is Kona's story for June.
00:10 I've been fostering kittens ever since I had her.
00:14 Welcome.
00:16 I've taken the kittens to get their vaccine boosters and we probably offered our backs.
00:21 We came home and Kona was freaking out.
00:23 She was like, "Oh my gosh, do you have my babies for me?"
00:29 Kona was supposedly found as a stray down in Tennessee with her three puppies.
00:34 They were brought up to New York to find a forever home.
00:36 Her three puppies and her actually too were adopted out immediately.
00:40 But Kona was deterred after the first family, went to foster care, was deterred again with the second family,
00:48 went back into foster care.
00:49 The previous two families that had her, they said that she was very scared of the men.
00:53 Ultimately, I just fell in love and decided to adopt her.

01:03 The fact that she was a mother at one point, she has that instinct to take care of others.
01:07 If I don't have a mom or a cat, she'll be the one cleaning them.
01:11 [Music]
01:20 And she would hover by them during meal time just to make sure they're eating.
01:24 [Music]
01:28 She would play with them.
01:29 [Music]
01:40 Sometimes she would even carry them.
01:42 [Music]
01:51 The few times that I wanted kind of in between foster, she seemed a little depressed
01:55 and it's just lower energy than usual, which is quite unusual for this girl
01:59 because she's very, very high energy.
02:00 [Music]
02:06 She gets along great with every kid that we've had.
02:09 She's really, really patient with the kids, especially when they're smaller.
02:12 They're kind of trying to figure things out and be adventurous.
02:15 [Music]
02:21 If they do kind of go overboard and start to hurt her with their claws,
02:25 she will kind of warn them, but she never expresses.
02:28 [Music]
02:33 A lot of the times the kids kind of like make their way into the clam bed behind her
02:37 and just fall asleep there.
02:38 [Music]
02:52 I always say that she's the one who kind of like ties the entire family together.
02:56 [Music]
03:04 She's a perfect dog.
