00:04 from this episode that you please share and leave a review.
00:08 We truly appreciate all the support and would love your help to spread the word.
00:12 Enjoy the episode.
00:13 Welcome back to another segment of Teach Me Like I'm 5.
00:16 I'm so excited to have Jen in studio.
00:19 Hi Jen.
00:20 Hi Jeff.
00:21 How are you?
00:22 Very good.
00:23 How are you?
00:24 I'm great.
00:25 I love Jen and Jeff show.
00:26 Yes.
00:27 It's like, remember Jeff and Jared?
00:28 Do you have that in New York?
00:29 I'm from the West Coast.
00:30 The JJ.
00:31 Okay.
00:32 Yeah.
00:33 We can be the JJ.
00:34 Let's go.
00:35 Jen and Jeff show brought to you by Jen and Jeff.
00:36 So, are you ready for this segment?
00:37 I'm ready.
00:38 Let's go.
00:39 Okay.
00:40 So Jen, Teach Me Like I'm 5, what is the confidence continuum?
00:44 The confidence continuum is how you create confidence over time and you always start
00:49 with action.
00:51 That's the first step.
00:52 So what I want you to envision is there's a circle.
00:53 In the beginning of the circle is your first scary action step.
00:58 So let's say you're envisioning that you want to go live on social media.
01:01 We'll use this as an example.
01:02 You want to go live.
01:03 You've never gone live in your entire life.
01:05 It feels so scary.
01:06 It feels so impossible.
01:07 You don't want to do it.
01:08 But your first step in the confidence continuum to become more confident in going live is
01:12 to just do it even though you're scared.
01:14 Alright?
01:15 Lowest hanging fruit.
01:16 You're going to go live.
01:17 You're going to do it for 2 minutes.
01:18 You're going to do it for like not a lot of time just to do it, just to get that action
01:21 step out of the way.
01:22 So you take action, right?
01:23 You do it.
01:24 You go live on social media.
01:25 Oh my God.
01:26 Maybe it sucked.
01:27 But you did it.
01:28 However, you did it.
01:29 So when you're done, you celebrate yourself.
01:31 And that will give you a little bit of motivation.
01:33 So we're a little bit farther along on the circle.
01:36 So now you've got that motivation because you did it.
01:37 Oh my God.
01:38 You didn't die.
01:39 It wasn't that terrible.
01:40 Okay.
01:41 Maybe it sucked.
01:42 But like you did it.
01:43 Yay.
01:44 So that gives you a little bit more motivation to do it again the next time because it's
01:45 not that scary the next time because you already did it once.
01:47 So then you take that motivation and you take action again.
01:50 Now here's what happens when you take action again.
01:53 You get a win.
01:54 Wow.
01:55 You did your social media or live.
01:56 You did your thing.
01:57 And then someone DMed you and they're like, "How do I work with you?
01:59 That was amazing.
02:00 I'd love to talk to you about how we can work together."
02:01 You got a lead.
02:02 Holy crap.
02:03 That really worked.
02:04 Now you've got a little bit more momentum.
02:07 You took one action.
02:08 You got motivation.
02:09 You got the win.
02:10 You got momentum.
02:11 And then that momentum will make you go do that live again and the next time you rock
02:13 it and you crush it.
02:15 And then you get three people wanting to work with you after that.
02:17 And you have so many more people wanting you to go live.
02:20 That's a big win.
02:21 And once you've gotten that big win, then you are on the confidence continuum because
02:25 what does that create?
02:26 That creates confidence.
02:27 Now you're going live all the time.
02:28 And that's how it works.
02:30 Teach me like I'm five.
02:31 How do I build a brand that stands out from the rest?
02:34 By being you.
02:36 Because here's the thing.
02:37 There's thousands, probably millions of people out there that happen to do the same thing
02:41 as you.
02:42 I don't care what you do.
02:43 There's a lot of people out there that have the same expertise as you.
02:45 How do you stand out from the crowd?
02:47 Well, there's only one you.
02:49 There's only one Jeff Fenster.
02:51 There's only one Jeff.
02:53 The way that you emote, the way that you say things, the way that you talk about things,
02:58 the way your cadence is, the way you explain things, the way you think about things, the
03:01 way you greet people, there's nobody else on this planet that is Jeff.
03:05 So the more Jeff you can be, the more you'll stand out from the crowd and the more people
03:09 will be attracted to you just for who you are and not the other person that talks about
03:12 the same thing as you.
03:13 And finally, teach me like I'm five.
03:15 What does it mean to be seen?
03:17 What it means to be seen is to be exactly who you are and be unapologetic about it.
03:29 So walk into a room and instead of thinking this is how I should show up, this is what
03:33 I should say, and this is who I should be like, and this is what I should wear, walk
03:37 into that room and allow the world to see your true self, to be vulnerable, to be authentic,
03:42 and to be real, and to be unapologetic about that and be proud of who you are.
03:48 Thank you so much for tuning in to another segment of Teach Me Like I'm Five.
