00:00 Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03 The Derbyshire Charity providing safe and clean drinking water for those living in disaster
00:08 zones due to conflicts and natural disasters is looking to double its life-saving work.
00:13 Aquabox builds simple, hand-pumped water filters that are then sent to disaster zones where
00:18 access to clean, safe water may be severely limited or non-existent.
00:23 The filter turns polluted water into safe, clean drinking water.
00:27 It removes bacteria and viruses that cause diseases like cholera, typhoid and polio.
00:32 And it also helps prevent diarrhoea, one of the biggest killers of small children in the
00:36 third world.
00:38 More than 70 people have allowed their own time to help create the devices.
00:42 Now bosses at the charity are in the final stages of an ambitious programme to double
00:46 its output of life-saving filters by streamlining the process and have brought in experts to
00:51 help with improving and delivering it.
00:53 They have also launched a fundraising campaign to help them achieve their new target.
00:58 Anyone who can help with funding or would like to find out more about the work of Aquabox
01:02 is urged to email dominic.wish@aquabox.org.
01:08 Police are appealing for witnesses after arsonists are thought to have torched a combine harvester
01:13 in a Derbyshire field.
01:15 On Thursday, members of the Derbyshire Royal Crime Team were called out to a combine harvester
01:19 that was on land near Red Lodge Farm, Ekington and reported to be on fire.
01:24 Fire investigators have been on the scene and police enquiries are still ongoing, however
01:28 officers believe that the vehicle may have been deliberately set alight.
01:32 Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to contact Derbyshire Police, quoting
01:36 reference 23*526578.
