00:00:10 >> And we are back with another episode of How 'Bout Them Celtics.
00:00:13 Sam and I are here recording on Wednesday, August 23rd.
00:00:17 Again, dead middle of nowhere summer, but we somehow have plenty of content.
00:00:22 If you guys tune in- >> Little over a month.
00:00:24 >> Yeah, yeah, we're close, we're getting there.
00:00:26 We're getting there to some stuff, but- >> We're like three quarters of the way
00:00:29 through.
00:00:29 >> [LAUGH] >> We were having a circle jerk at the
00:00:32 beginning of the month, we were like, yeah, we've been doing so good, whatever.
00:00:36 And then I was like, yeah, we have two more months of this.
00:00:39 We're halfway through.
00:00:41 >> Well, summer league gave us false hope,
00:00:43 cuz we grinded through summer league.
00:00:44 We had plenty of stuff, and then I think we underestimated how much dead time.
00:00:48 I mean, the game show we did was fun.
00:00:50 If you tuned into the game show, we appreciate you.
00:00:52 If you haven't seen it, it's up as a video on our channel now, or
00:00:54 as a live stream.
00:00:55 >> A lot of people watch it just- >> Find it.
00:00:57 >> All over the place.
00:00:58 >> Yeah, it's uploaded everywhere.
00:00:59 You'll find it places.
00:01:00 But if you haven't seen it yet, we had the first of the four guys on the program.
00:01:05 We did a game show with them.
00:01:06 Shout out to the winner, who I won't name, because go watch it.
00:01:09 You should go find out for yourself.
00:01:11 I almost did it, and I was like, wait a second.
00:01:12 >> We'll be- >> For some reason.
00:01:13 >> Talking to them tonight, live, CLNS, at 8 PM, as you listen to Saturday.
00:01:18 >> Yes, yes.
00:01:19 >> So we'll be there.
00:01:20 >> We're recording this on Wednesday.
00:01:21 Sam said tonight, and I had a little panic attack run through my heart,
00:01:24 cuz I thought he meant tonight actually.
00:01:25 I was like, wait, didn't you miss something?
00:01:27 >> I didn't know about the movie magic of publishing the next day.
00:01:30 >> [LAUGH] No, Jack just forgets what day it is sometimes, so I-
00:01:33 >> Yeah, literally every time we do
00:01:35 a show, you forget.
00:01:36 You have to look at the phone.
00:01:37 >> I know, I know.
00:01:38 Well, it's cuz I don't have, I always say I don't have an actual job, but
00:01:42 writing is my job, so I just sit at my desk all day.
00:01:44 So days blend together, cuz I don't get weekends either.
00:01:47 I just sit here and write and do the same thing every day.
00:01:50 So I'm not complaining, it's just I struggle to remember.
00:01:53 >> I started taking weekends.
00:01:53 I used to not take them.
00:01:54 >> [LAUGH] >> But I was like, no,
00:01:56 I need to have days where I just relax.
00:01:59 >> Yeah, maybe I do that.
00:02:00 I've started laxing a little bit on weekends, but it's a grind, man.
00:02:04 You gotta do what you gotta do.
00:02:05 But we have Celtics content for you guys today,
00:02:09 the first of which is Blake Griffin talking about the Celtics.
00:02:14 We'll start with this because I wanted to talk about it.
00:02:16 I feel like I kind of sparked the conversation,
00:02:19 not to pat myself on the back, but I tweeted about this.
00:02:23 So Blake Griffin joined the 4Play pod, which is Barstool's golf channel,
00:02:28 which I very much enjoy.
00:02:29 He was with Dan Rapoport and they played nine at mine, which is where they,
00:02:33 Dan basically goes around and plays nine holes with celebrities and
00:02:36 other people at their home course.
00:02:38 And Blake Griffin is a member of this country club in LA, I believe it is.
00:02:42 And Dan is also a member there, so they played nine holes.
00:02:44 And throughout the round and the nine holes,
00:02:46 Dan asked them questions about their life.
00:02:49 And so he asked Blake about his career, start with the Clippers, Chris Paul.
00:02:52 He asked, are you retiring?
00:02:54 And he was like, I don't know, we'll see.
00:02:58 And then he asked him about Boston.
00:03:00 And Blake was very hyped when he mentioned Boston.
00:03:04 And I tweeted it, the video of them, and a lot of people liked it.
00:03:09 Dan, 4Play pod itself liked the tweet, Trent and Dan from Barstool.
00:03:14 Jamal Crawford liked the tweet, which is very weird.
00:03:16 I was like, why?
00:03:17 >> Jack just reporting on who likes his tweets.
00:03:20 I don't see any, hey, will you come on the podcast, acknowledge me.
00:03:24 >> All right, all right, it's not all about the podcast.
00:03:26 But no, I tweet this and I see a lot of people, it gained traction.
00:03:32 And then I start seeing pop ups.
00:03:33 So I'm like, I mean, I kind of saw the opportunity because I watched this
00:03:37 channel anyway, so I tweeted the video and I was glad to see people picked it up.
00:03:40 But Blake Griffin basically saying verbatim, dude, Boston is unbelievable.
00:03:45 Living in Boston, playing in Boston was one of the best experiences.
00:03:48 And it wasn't even playing a lot of minutes.
00:03:50 The fans are incredible, the team,
00:03:51 just having that championship focused environment.
00:03:54 They do everything they can to be the best.
00:03:55 He talked a lot about Tatum, about how Tatum's a great guy on and
00:03:59 off the court, talks to everybody, very personable, and obviously a superstar.
00:04:03 So everything Blake says, I loved being in Boston and
00:04:07 playing for the Celtics, which is great.
00:04:09 Report came out today from, I think, Sam Amico.
00:04:12 It was Amico, who, I know there's two Amicos, and I always get confused.
00:04:16 But he said that the Celtics, Sixers, Clippers, and
00:04:18 Warriors have shown an interest in Blake Griffin.
00:04:21 So we'll have to see what shakes up.
00:04:22 But from his speech or his appearance on the foreplay pod,
00:04:26 which is just he played nine holes of golf, go check it out on their channel.
00:04:30 He likes the Celtics, which is good to hear.
00:04:31 >> Yeah, I thought Blake Griffin's take on the Celtics was really interesting
00:04:37 because he's been a guy even way before he came to town,
00:04:40 was kind of connected with it.
00:04:42 I remember when he was on the Clippers, he was obviously in the building when it
00:04:46 was Paul Pierce's last game.
00:04:48 And I remember him talking about being impressed with the reception Pierce got
00:04:53 when he came back for the final time.
00:04:55 So he's always had a little bit of an understanding of what the crowd's like,
00:04:59 the atmosphere.
00:05:00 But it's always great when you hear guys,
00:05:02 especially stars that spent a big bulk of their career somewhere else,
00:05:06 praising the city, praising the team, saying how great it is.
00:05:09 Because I think it helps the reputation where there are other things that happen
00:05:13 that do not help it, such as trading a guy that tours ACL and
00:05:17 never played for you.
00:05:18 And he was all excited to play for your franchise and you trade him.
00:05:23 Or trading the guy that played for nine years or
00:05:25 trading the guy that played through hip injury.
00:05:28 And when his sister passed away,
00:05:30 there's so many things you can point to be like the Celtics are scumbags.
00:05:34 But then every once in a while someone's like, hey,
00:05:36 it kind of rules to play for them.
00:05:37 And it's like, yeah, it does rule, the fans are the best.
00:05:40 So I'm happy that Blake Griffin likes to hear the fan base obviously likes
00:05:44 Blake Griffin.
00:05:44 I kind of wrote a small, like a shallow dive for
00:05:49 Celtics blog just into the whole situation.
00:05:52 Earlier this summer,
00:05:53 we heard that the Celtics were interested in bringing him back.
00:05:55 It's just a debate whether or not he wants to leave his family for
00:05:59 another year on the West Coast.
00:06:01 But Blake Griffin was really good for the Celtics when he actually played.
00:06:05 And we've talked about this a zillion times in the last two weeks.
00:06:07 This is really only looming storyline.
00:06:10 But when he started like eight points, five rebounds, good, efficient splits,
00:06:14 like he was okay, hustled.
00:06:17 He gave the Celtics probably more than they bargained for
00:06:19 when they brought him in last summer.
00:06:21 So I don't see any reason not to bring him back.
00:06:23 He was a good presence on the team.
00:06:25 I like him.
00:06:26 But the weird thing is it was all past tense, which I guess is accurate,
00:06:31 because it did happen.
00:06:33 >> I think it was just reflecting on the- >> But if you really wanna microscope,
00:06:36 crystal ball, tinfoil hat,
00:06:38 it sounds like he could be done playing here too.
00:06:43 So I don't know.
00:06:44 >> I don't know. I feel like he was just reflecting on the year,
00:06:46 cuz it happened in the past.
00:06:48 I feel like if he's gonna reassign anywhere,
00:06:51 I would hope it would be the Celtics.
00:06:53 Would he really, what is the draw?
00:06:55 Obviously, like you said, being closer to his family.
00:06:58 But in terms of a team environment, my point is that seems like the only factor
00:07:02 that would take him away from Boston is the family thing, which is a valid reason.
00:07:06 I'm not diminishing it, but I don't know.
00:07:08 It's good to hear him speak highly of Boston,
00:07:10 especially cuz it seems like- >> On a national platform.
00:07:12 >> The Celtics have brought him back.
00:07:13 Yeah, yeah, got a lot of views, and it was good to watch.
00:07:16 Go watch it.
00:07:17 Blake Griffin hits the ball very far.
00:07:18 >> Go watch Jack's tweet.
00:07:20 >> No, go watch 4Play Pod's video.
00:07:22 Blake Griffin hammers his drives.
00:07:24 They go very far, and he's entertaining.
00:07:26 He's a character off the court, obviously, which he's made a clip of.
00:07:29 Anyways, the next piece of Celtics info we have, they're working out some players.
00:07:34 The Celtics are bringing in a few guys for workouts.
00:07:37 Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that they are going to meet with TJ Warren
00:07:42 and Lamar Stevens, and then I believe it was- >> Michael Scotto.
00:07:45 >> Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype who reported they're also going to be meeting
00:07:49 with Lewis King.
00:07:50 All three are going to be in Boston for workouts this week, and
00:07:53 all are in consideration for a potential contract.
00:07:58 And I mean, we can talk about it now.
00:08:00 I know when Lamar Stevens got waved by the Spurs, he was somebody I mentioned,
00:08:03 I think very randomly and briefly here, as somebody I liked.
00:08:07 >> You definitely dropped him.
00:08:08 >> Just out of nowhere a little bit, but Hustle Defender, he's 6'6",
00:08:13 he's only 26 years old.
00:08:14 He's a hustle guy, he's not a great shooter.
00:08:17 He likes the mid-range a bit more than threes.
00:08:20 From what I saw, I know, Sam, that would speak to you a little bit,
00:08:23 less so than Joe Mizzoula.
00:08:24 Very athletic, he's a hustle guy.
00:08:27 He killed the Celtics.
00:08:29 I distinctly remember, I forget what game it was, and
00:08:33 I'll find it while you talk about it.
00:08:35 >> Might have been the I'm gonna make both game.
00:08:37 >> Maybe, but he didn't kill them with points.
00:08:39 He got like five offensive rebounds.
00:08:41 >> It was definitely that game then, cuz they couldn't close the game.
00:08:44 >> Yeah.
00:08:44 >> I wrote about the three candidates for Harwood Houdini today.
00:08:51 And I went in thinking maybe TJ Warren's the best, and
00:08:54 I really thought about it more.
00:08:56 And I think I do like Lamar Stevens the best.
00:08:58 I think he has just the potential to be a guy that's helpful, no matter what.
00:09:03 Because if he's gonna bring it on defense,
00:09:05 then any added bonus you get on offense is great.
00:09:08 But the baseline is you need to play defense.
00:09:10 You're not going to hurt the team as much if you're a better defender,
00:09:14 as opposed to being an offensive minded player who doesn't play defense.
00:09:18 Cuz you're gonna get yourself on the court if you're trying.
00:09:21 That's kinda how it goes.
00:09:23 And I don't hate that if you look at his basketball reference,
00:09:28 yes, the three point shooting is not good.
00:09:31 But each year it's gone up, 16% rookie year.
00:09:34 In the 20s, second year, last year, 31.5% from three.
00:09:39 So steady improvement there shows a little bit of a work ethic,
00:09:43 desire to be better.
00:09:44 If the Southerners bring him in,
00:09:46 it wouldn't shock me if he's able to get some kind of small role.
00:09:50 Does that mean he's gonna play in the playoffs?
00:09:51 Is he gonna be the eight man rotation?
00:09:52 Probably not.
00:09:54 But it doesn't mean that he can't play spot minutes,
00:09:57 can't be a good option off the bench.
00:09:58 Especially after losing smart and Grant Williams,
00:10:01 you kind of need a little bit of an extra defensive presence.
00:10:04 That was one thing I kind of alluded to in the article.
00:10:07 As for the other two, Louis King spent most of his time in the G League with
00:10:12 Philly last year, played one NBA game, 32 appearances for
00:10:16 the Bluecoats in Delaware.
00:10:18 His stats for the G League, 16.5 points, five assists, four something rebounds,
00:10:23 and a steal and a half per game on decent shooting splits.
00:10:27 He's a do everything guy.
00:10:28 The Celtics, I'm pretty sure, still have a two way spot open.
00:10:31 So I'd imagine that's really where he comes into play.
00:10:35 When we first got the report, it was like, maybe he's in contention for
00:10:38 one of these final two spots.
00:10:39 But I would imagine two way is the way that it's gonna go for
00:10:42 him if he ends up with the Celtics.
00:10:44 >> I agree, and for what it's worth, not that he would settle for this,
00:10:47 Lamar Stevens is technically eligible for a two way spot as well.
00:10:50 Because he has less than four years of NBA experience.
00:10:53 You could kind of liken it to Cabin Gale, signing a two way deal with Boston after
00:10:58 playing real minutes and being on a real standard deal.
00:11:01 Just for shits and giggles, I have the exact stats.
00:11:07 It was five offensive rebounds in the fourth quarter.
00:11:10 If you're watching on YouTube, we're not gonna-
00:11:13 >> Yep, this was definitely the I'm gonna make both game,
00:11:15 cuz they were up a fuck ton, and then they just blew it.
00:11:19 >> Celtics are currently up 14 points as Lamar Stevens grabs an offensive rebound
00:11:23 that nobody on the Celtics go for.
00:11:25 >> Just play the Hall of the Mountain King as you watch them blow this lead.
00:11:28 Like, it's down to seven now.
00:11:30 >> Mm-hm.
00:11:31 >> Look at that.
00:11:32 >> So we get this lead.
00:11:33 Lamar Stevens- >> Rebound.
00:11:34 >> Finds another offensive rebound.
00:11:37 He had five in the first quarter, like I said.
00:11:38 >> 5-11 with four and a half to go, by the way.
00:11:40 >> Just gets right by Jay- >> Offensive rebound.
00:11:43 >> Mm-hm.
00:11:46 >> These guys are the worst.
00:11:48 >> Yeah. >> I hate this Celtics team.
00:11:50 >> [LAUGH] Lamar Stevens just killed the Celtics on the offensive glass in
00:11:53 the fourth quarter.
00:11:54 Celtics are up by three with less than two.
00:11:55 >> Wow, where'd the lead go?
00:11:57 >> Step back, and that one was a bit unlucky.
00:12:01 I'm not gonna call anybody at the Celtics out for that one, but yeah.
00:12:04 >> If you're not available.
00:12:05 >> [LAUGH] Lamar Stevens just killed them.
00:12:07 He's a hustle guy on the offensive glass and defensive glass.
00:12:11 I tweeted out a few highlights that I saw while I was waiting for
00:12:15 my brother cuz I dropped the meth at the dentist.
00:12:17 And so I was sitting in the car and I got bored.
00:12:18 And so I just looked up Lamar Stevens highlights.
00:12:20 He likes the mid-range shot.
00:12:22 He's a hustle guy, plays solid defense.
00:12:25 To me, that's what I'd rather have.
00:12:27 TJ Warren's cool, right?
00:12:28 And it's cool to think about, bubble TJ Warren, what if he could find that again?
00:12:32 That's just not how the NBA works.
00:12:35 That would be like the Lakers signing a bunch of old guys to go with their core
00:12:39 three two years ago, and we saw how that worked out.
00:12:43 Lewis King is interesting, but he's more of a two-way guy like Sam said.
00:12:45 Lamar Stevens has, like Sam said, his three-point shot has steadily improved over
00:12:49 the past three seasons, as have his minutes.
00:12:51 He played 12 minutes, 40 games, 16 minutes, 63 games, 18 minutes, 62 games,
00:12:57 but started 25 in them last year for the Cavs, for a pretty good Cavs team.
00:13:01 He was in the mix for that, who was gonna start at the small forward spot.
00:13:07 And the only reason the Cavs let him go is cuz they were trying to get
00:13:09 Max Drewson there, so they had to package him together to make that work.
00:13:13 I don't know, he just makes the most sense.
00:13:15 He's not old, he's like 26 years old.
00:13:17 He's 6'6", good size, he's 230, so he's bigger bodied as well.
00:13:23 He's kinda like Grant without the three-point shot.
00:13:26 >> No, seriously.
00:13:27 All jokes aside, that was the first thing I thought when I was writing about this.
00:13:30 I was like, okay, if he learns to shoot threes a little bit,
00:13:34 he could fill the Grant role, which is an important role nonetheless.
00:13:36 You still need a little bit of size to come off the bench, play defense, and
00:13:41 just be steady, that's really it.
00:13:44 As for TJ Warren, cuz I didn't really talk about him,
00:13:46 if you're excited about TJ Warren, think about this.
00:13:49 >> [LAUGH] >> The Phoenix Suns traded away their whole
00:13:52 team this summer to get Bradley Beal.
00:13:56 They had, at one point, I think five guys on their roster.
00:13:59 They traded for TJ Warren last trade deadline, right?
00:14:04 >> In the Durant deal, yeah.
00:14:05 >> In the Durant deal, they did not bring back TJ Warren
00:14:10 when they had nobody on their team.
00:14:13 >> Yeah. >> What does that say to you about TJ
00:14:16 Warren?
00:14:17 It means he's just not a guy anymore, and it sucks.
00:14:22 You hate to see guys fall off.
00:14:24 Since that bubble season, he's just been riddled with injuries.
00:14:26 He hasn't been able to stay on the court.
00:14:28 Last year for the Suns, he barely got minutes.
00:14:32 He was at 12 a game, barely played in the playoffs.
00:14:34 He just wasn't there.
00:14:37 He's not there anymore.
00:14:38 I think out of the three, it's Lamar Stevens.
00:14:40 I was writing the article, I ranked the three guys.
00:14:42 I originally had Warren won.
00:14:43 Then I was like, wait a minute.
00:14:45 No, no, Lamar Stevens is the exciting one.
00:14:48 Make no mistake.
00:14:49 >> Yeah, no, I like Lamar Stevens.
00:14:53 I think that'd be my pick.
00:14:54 And then also we have here Brian Rob saying, per league sources,
00:14:57 the Celtics are doing their due diligence by hosting a number of different workouts
00:15:00 ahead of training camp before settling on potential roster options.
00:15:03 Brad Stevens signaled last month that adding help on the wing would be a
00:15:06 priority before next season.
00:15:08 My only thing with that is, do they really need another wing?
00:15:12 As much as it would be cool to have Lamar Stevens, and it wouldn't hurt.
00:15:16 I would probably like to see them add almost any other position.
00:15:19 I mean, they signed O'Shea Brissett, they have Sam Houser still.
00:15:21 They just drafted Jordan Walsh.
00:15:23 What is Lamar, those guys are all fighting for
00:15:26 the same minutes when they could just add a fourth string guard or
00:15:30 fifth string, I guess, behind Donna Bannon or
00:15:32 fourth string center to share minutes with Luke Cornett.
00:15:35 Unless they would rather just play with those four bigs that they have with
00:15:39 the big three of them and including Cornett.
00:15:41 And then if one of them is out, just play smaller and faster, which, I mean,
00:15:45 seems like what they wanted to do last year anyways.
00:15:47 Then that makes sense to just get more wings.
00:15:49 And if that's the plan, then sure, I get it.
00:15:52 But I don't know, it's just a bit weird that they're so focused after signing
00:15:55 O'Shea Brissett and drafting Jordan Walsh and developing Sam Houser to get another
00:15:59 wing in this mix.
00:16:00 That's just weird.
00:16:01 >> I keep forgetting that they have Jordan Walsh on this team,
00:16:04 cuz I'm just thinking, okay, who's on the roster last year?
00:16:07 >> I forget about Sam Houser.
00:16:08 >> When you factor in that all of those guys are there,
00:16:12 this doesn't make as much sense.
00:16:14 But when you forget about one, it's a lot more exciting.
00:16:17 Cuz you're like, yeah, this guy can get minutes.
00:16:19 >> When you forget about one.
00:16:21 >> Yeah, but seriously.
00:16:22 >> Imagine next year Joe Mazzullo's like, Jordan, my bad, bro,
00:16:26 I forgot you were there.
00:16:27 Let's just- >> Well,
00:16:28 Jordan Walsh has to be the most exciting of the bunch.
00:16:30 He showed up in the summer league.
00:16:32 But I keep forgetting he's on the team cuz he hasn't actually played a game yet.
00:16:35 You don't really need to be gambling on guys at this point.
00:16:39 I was gonna go push back, but you're right.
00:16:42 Okay, bring in another big guy, why not?
00:16:45 All three of those guys are kinda injury prone.
00:16:48 Jeff Clark put up the Celtics blog article about how many games you expect
00:16:52 them to play.
00:16:53 And it's like, I don't know, how many?
00:16:55 >> Bring in three.
00:16:57 >> Yeah, Kenneth Freed, why is Kenneth Freed not on the list?
00:16:59 I tweeted at you last night.
00:17:00 I said, where the hell is Kenneth Freed?
00:17:03 The hell? >> I saw, I saw.
00:17:05 >> Did we not put up propaganda for anything?
00:17:07 >> That's what I'm saying, no one listens to us.
00:17:10 This is random and it doesn't exactly have to do.
00:17:13 You mentioned, I think Jordan Walsh is the most exciting.
00:17:16 I agree.
00:17:17 I feel like Sam Houser is somebody a lot of people, at least me,
00:17:20 like I forget about.
00:17:21 I feel like he could play like 25 minutes for the Celtics.
00:17:24 >> Somebody's getting minutes.
00:17:26 >> Well, when you look at Houser's stats last year, when he started,
00:17:30 he averaged like 13 points on like 50% of his game.
00:17:33 Like he was nasty when he got the opportunity.
00:17:35 So he feels like- >> And the efficiency didn't drop.
00:17:37 That's the big thing.
00:17:38 >> It got better.
00:17:38 It got better when he was starting.
00:17:40 It feels like Sam Houser should be the eighth man in the Celtics rotation.
00:17:45 Like everyone's talking about it like, excuse me,
00:17:48 Porzingis is gonna take a lot of these minutes.
00:17:51 He'll probably scoop up some of the rotational minutes that Smart played and
00:17:54 they'll just play bigger instead.
00:17:56 And then Grant will just get replaced by 5% and Jordan Walsh will scoop.
00:17:59 Sam Houser can literally step in and play 25 minutes for the Celtics.
00:18:04 He is one of the best three point shooters in the league.
00:18:07 He was solid on defense last year.
00:18:09 He was great as a starter.
00:18:11 It feels like Sam Houser is really primed to play a lot more minutes next season and
00:18:16 not a lot of people are talking about it.
00:18:18 Maybe that's a video for us.
00:18:19 Maybe we do Sam Houser highlights next,
00:18:21 although as you guys didn't really like the Jason Taylor highlight videos.
00:18:24 >> Yeah, you guys punted it away.
00:18:27 >> Maybe we mix it up, but I don't know.
00:18:29 I'm excited for Houser and then the three forwards Lamar Stevens, TJ Warren,
00:18:33 Lewis King.
00:18:34 It sounds like we're on the same page where Lamar Stevens is probably the most
00:18:36 intriguing option.
00:18:38 >> Yep, if you want more, Hardwood Houdini, click through all the slides,
00:18:41 tell your friends.
00:18:42 >> Go check it out.
00:18:43 Go check it out.
00:18:44 All right, next Celtics thing we have is a Kristaps Porzingis quote.
00:18:47 He talked about the injury.
00:18:48 Obviously, he's not playing in FIBA for Latvia this year because of his
00:18:52 plantar fasciitis.
00:18:53 And he spoke with, can you say this word?
00:18:57 I don't know how to say this.
00:18:59 >> Sportazenis.
00:19:00 >> Sportazenis, which is a Latvian website.
00:19:04 >> I know what this is.
00:19:05 I saw this on Reddit.
00:19:06 >> It's an international- >> I'll tell you what,
00:19:08 if you look at the URL, none of the words make any sense except for his name.
00:19:13 >> Well, Porzingis spoke about the injury for, I think, the first time.
00:19:17 Him personally, outside of his Instagram or Twitter post.
00:19:20 He said, I now have a four to six week plan that I have to follow.
00:19:23 Feelings are good.
00:19:23 Of course, I'm not yet in shape that I can fully play and train.
00:19:27 That I can play and train fully.
00:19:29 But going step by step, everything should be fine by the start of the NBA season.
00:19:33 Obviously, that was translated, so it's not perfect.
00:19:34 But yeah, I mean, it sounds like he's in line.
00:19:38 And it doesn't seem like anybody's too, too worried about it.
00:19:40 It sucks that you're already seeing the injury concerns come to light this early.
00:19:45 But he's never been a fully healthy player.
00:19:48 And it sounds like everybody is confident that he'll be fine by the start of
00:19:51 the season.
00:19:52 And that's what really matters.
00:19:53 So good to hear he's in good spirits.
00:19:55 >> I think Porzingis just went on Twitter and
00:19:58 read the Celtics New England Baptist Hospital injury update.
00:20:02 In whatever interview he was asked, cuz it's literally all it says.
00:20:06 It was cool to be on Reddit and be like, wow, he said something.
00:20:10 And then it's literally the tweet that the team put out.
00:20:13 He has a plan for rehab.
00:20:15 He's gonna be back for the start of the season.
00:20:19 That's all it says.
00:20:19 >> [LAUGH] >> I'm annoyed with all of this.
00:20:22 I wish he wasn't hurt.
00:20:23 It's not a good start to the tenure.
00:20:25 When you give up somebody as important as Marcus Smart, this is not a good look.
00:20:31 People are gonna be pissed.
00:20:32 There's gonna be pressure.
00:20:33 And it's August.
00:20:36 This is the worst time of year for this to happen.
00:20:38 There's literally nothing else for us to focus on.
00:20:40 We're just angry.
00:20:41 >> [LAUGH] >> What the hell?
00:20:43 Why is Porzingis already hurt?
00:20:44 He hasn't even played.
00:20:46 >> Yeah, we gotta talk about it.
00:20:47 >> Did the team know about this?
00:20:49 This is not a new thing.
00:20:50 >> It feels like they probably knew about it.
00:20:53 I mean, I can't imagine they didn't know about it, but he's coming off a great
00:20:57 season, he played a bunch of games.
00:20:58 At some point, you gotta take a risk, I guess, to avoid, cuz I don't know.
00:21:04 We don't have to get too deep into the conversation of the smart trade.
00:21:07 We've talked about it about a million times because there's nothing else to
00:21:09 talk about.
00:21:11 Obviously, would rather them traded Brogdon because smart's a better player,
00:21:14 he's deeper connection to the Celtics organization, all this stuff.
00:21:17 But it just felt like, and I mean, Wick Grosbeck said this,
00:21:21 something had to change.
00:21:22 It felt like you needed to shake something up after going through these same trials
00:21:26 and tribulations every year and falling short every year in almost the same
00:21:29 fashion every year.
00:21:31 Shaking something up, giving you a new look, giving the Celtics, Jason Tate,
00:21:35 this is probably the best third score of the Tatum-Brown era,
00:21:39 at least a different one.
00:21:40 You had Kemba there as the point guard, but
00:21:42 it feels like maybe you need a different look.
00:21:45 >> With these two guys as the best players, yes.
00:21:47 >> Yeah, so- >> Cuz Kemba was supposed to be the first
00:21:50 or second option.
00:21:50 >> That's what I'm saying.
00:21:52 So give him a different look, give him a third high tier scoring option.
00:21:56 >> Better than Grant?
00:21:57 >> [LAUGH] Get out of here.
00:22:00 But good to hear Porzingis in high spirits about his injury.
00:22:03 All right, next thing we have is an article that-
00:22:06 >> Injury report.
00:22:07 >> Hey man, he's talking about it.
00:22:09 Leave me alone, this is August.
00:22:10 >> Feelings are good.
00:22:11 >> [LAUGH] Next thing we have is something I wrote for Celtics blog.
00:22:16 I talked about the Brad Stevens era.
00:22:19 And the way I framed it, and I put it on here cuz I'm curious to know what you
00:22:22 think, I don't know if you read the article, but
00:22:25 I know I talked to you about this when I was writing it.
00:22:29 It feels like Brad Stevens kind of took Danny Ainge's setup and
00:22:36 was able to not finish the job cuz they haven't won a championship yet.
00:22:40 But he has been much more aggressive.
00:22:43 I'll go through the way I framed it.
00:22:44 I'm not gonna read the whole article.
00:22:45 Go to Celtics blog if you wanna read it.
00:22:46 It's just, welcome to front office week,
00:22:48 Brad Stevens ascension to GM has helped them push their new era forward.
00:22:52 That's how I framed it.
00:22:53 Basically I talked about when Brad Stevens was elevated into the GM role,
00:23:00 there was a lot of questions of, and he do this, right?
00:23:04 Basically- >> I was told by any time that he failed
00:23:07 up.
00:23:08 >> Exactly, exactly, failed up is a good way to put it.
00:23:10 And the question mark was, is this the Celtics way of saving money?
00:23:15 Cuz they wanna keep him under contract and they don't wanna just let him go,
00:23:17 right?
00:23:19 Is Brad Stevens going to be too close to these players to trade them?
00:23:22 Clearly, no.
00:23:23 That's the answer, which is a good thing in all in all.
00:23:28 But the way I phrased it was, this is the conclusion to my article, right?
00:23:35 Danny Ainge was so obsessed with hitting home runs after the fleecing of
00:23:41 the Brooklyn Nets, right?
00:23:43 He got Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown.
00:23:47 From that point on, or from the Isaiah Thomas year of trades on,
00:23:51 where he traded for Isaiah Thomas, traded for Jay Crowder.
00:23:53 He made two significant trades in five years, in three, whatever,
00:23:57 how many ever years it was.
00:23:59 From Isaiah Thomas to when Brad Stevens got hired,
00:24:01 he made two significant trades.
00:24:02 And when I say significant, I mean that doesn't include draft day swaps.
00:24:07 And you can say the Jason Tatum trade, but
00:24:09 I mean trades for actual players to help the team, right?
00:24:12 Kyrie Irving- >> I remember the second one.
00:24:14 >> Evan Fortier, Kyrie and Fortier.
00:24:17 Outside of that, it was, let's dump Ennis Freedom and
00:24:19 give up Desmond Brand in the process.
00:24:21 Let's salary dump Vincent Poirier.
00:24:23 And adding these players around the fringes that never get minutes doesn't
00:24:28 count as a significant trade.
00:24:30 I mean trades for rotation players.
00:24:32 He's made two.
00:24:34 In Brad Stevens' first two years, he's made five,
00:24:37 [LAUGH] to get actual players to help the team.
00:24:40 And the way I phrased it was, in 2007, Ainge knocked it out of the park,
00:24:44 earning the Celtics a title, and he then followed up the feat with a flurry
00:24:49 of heralded moves that set Boston up for the future.
00:24:52 Isaiah Thomas, Jay Crowder, all these moves, even trading the pick for
00:24:55 Jason Tatum, doing all this stuff to set them up, drafting all these players.
00:25:00 Grant Williams, Peyton Pritchard, all these solid rookies in the first round,
00:25:03 right, he did all that.
00:25:04 But when it came time to step up to the plate again,
00:25:07 Ainge hesitated, accepting walks when the home run move failed to present itself.
00:25:13 So when he couldn't get the perfect trade, he just kind of did nothing and
00:25:17 accepted small things that didn't actually help.
00:25:20 Brad Stevens instead has hit singles, and some of which have been doubles, and
00:25:24 then maybe this Porzingis thing is the first attempt at a home run that he's
00:25:27 hitting, and he's rounding the bases right now,
00:25:29 waiting to see if he'll be thrown out at home plate.
00:25:30 Sorry for the baseball metaphors, but
00:25:32 that's just the best way I could figure out to phrase it in the article.
00:25:35 But for years, you see Danny Ainge draft these players,
00:25:40 draft Romeo Lankford, maybe he'll be a piece.
00:25:42 Aaron Eastman, maybe he'll be a piece.
00:25:44 Carson Edwards, maybe he'll be a piece.
00:25:46 And then he didn't trade any of them.
00:25:48 All those guys were on the team throughout Ainge's entire tenure.
00:25:51 He didn't trade any of the picks before they were made.
00:25:53 He didn't trade any of the young players before they fizzled out and
00:25:55 had no trade value.
00:25:56 He kept them, and it worked out in the case of Grant Williams,
00:25:59 because he was a solid rotation piece, obviously he didn't play.
00:26:01 Pritchard, it worked out, he's a solid rotation piece, even though-
00:26:03 >> I mean, you have to see what you have
00:26:04 with these guys, you can't trade them right away.
00:26:06 >> I know you can't, but by doing that, you had Jason Tatum and
00:26:12 Jalen Brown competing in the playoffs with Brad Wanamaker as their six most
00:26:15 minutes guy.
00:26:15 Do you know what I'm saying?
00:26:16 He sacrificed quality depth and quality pieces behind them in hopes that one of
00:26:20 these guys will pop in.
00:26:21 Unfortunately, none of them did, and if they did,
00:26:23 I mean, he'd obviously be a genius.
00:26:24 But I think that's where Brad Stevens has taken on a different approach with
00:26:28 the Celtics, where he's not afraid to trade first round picks.
00:26:32 He's not afraid to trade these young guys for
00:26:33 pieces that can help them win now.
00:26:34 Look at the Derek White trade, traded Romeo, traded a 20-28 first that was
00:26:38 protected, traded another first that was protected, and Josh Richardson got a guy
00:26:41 in Derek White who has turned out to be pretty damn good for the Celtics.
00:26:44 You look at the Malcolm Brogdon trade, even though they gave up nothing,
00:26:46 he gave up a first round pick.
00:26:48 He gave up Aaron Neesmith, another young guy, and he got a piece back, right?
00:26:51 These consolidation moves that Ainge didn't really make as much, right?
00:26:56 Cuz even the Evan Fournier trade, he traded, what, two second round picks?
00:26:59 He didn't actually trade anything for Evan Fournier, which was good, but
00:27:02 those are the moves that Danny Ainge liked to make.
00:27:04 Moves where he definitely won the trade, and
00:27:06 if he wasn't gonna do that, then he wasn't gonna make a trade at all, right?
00:27:09 Even look at Brad Stevens' other move, look at this Chris Opspor's English trade.
00:27:13 There's no chance in hell Danny Ainge makes this trade.
00:27:16 You can't convince me that Danny Ainge makes this trade in a million years
00:27:19 because of the backlash, because of how much he loved Marcus Smart.
00:27:22 And because all these things, because he was like, no, Marcus is our guy.
00:27:25 I don't know, I don't know if I'm absolutely- >> I mean, he traded Isaiah Thomas.
00:27:28 >> I know he did, but he got a bonafide, no question superstar, at the time.
00:27:33 Obviously, we know how it turned out.
00:27:35 But he got a guy who was probably a top ten player in the NBA at the time,
00:27:38 top 15 maybe, right?
00:27:40 And as good as Porzingis is, the injury concerns,
00:27:44 the fact that he had to trade Marcus Smart, and I know he traded Isaiah Thomas.
00:27:48 It just seems like Brad Stevens has been more willing to take risks.
00:27:52 And so far it's worked out.
00:27:54 But at the same time, I just feel like Brad Stevens has taken all the assets
00:27:59 that Danny Ainge has gotten, which was a good thing.
00:28:01 He got all these young pieces to use, and he used them to get better win now guys.
00:28:06 And he's thought less about the two timeline thing of win now.
00:28:10 I don't know, I just think it was kind of like, I'm not trying to knock Danny Ainge.
00:28:14 I'm just saying Brad Stevens took what he set up and
00:28:18 reset the GM mindset of, cuz Danny Ainge, obviously, he won the Celtics title, right?
00:28:24 I'm not saying he wasn't a great GM.
00:28:26 But he took the second era of Ainge and everything he set up and
00:28:29 kind of better piece together a winning core around the Jays.
00:28:34 That will help them now and in the future.
00:28:35 I just think it was like a one-two punch of Ainge era title,
00:28:40 second half of Ainge era that bled into Brad Stevens,
00:28:44 who is now setting them up a little bit better than the second era of Ainge.
00:28:48 Well, here's my take.
00:28:50 I think you're half right.
00:28:53 I think the reason why Brad Stevens is so
00:28:57 aggressive is because the time is now, right?
00:29:01 Like Tatum, Brown, pretty much in their primes.
00:29:05 They're probably 85% of what they're ever gonna be.
00:29:10 What do you think that's like a fair number?
00:29:13 >> I think probably, yeah.
00:29:15 I mean, you could quibble if you wanna go to 75.
00:29:17 But like around there, I know what you're saying, yes.
00:29:20 >> So you kinda have to start setting them up to succeed when they're at their best.
00:29:24 Credit to Stevens, he's absolutely done that.
00:29:27 He has been fearless.
00:29:28 He's made a lot of great moves, as you mentioned.
00:29:31 But at the same time, should Ainge have done anything?
00:29:37 And right before the Kemba era,
00:29:41 there was a lot of moving parts in those Isaiah Thomas-
00:29:47 >> I understand.
00:29:48 >> Kyrie Kemba years.
00:29:49 You had three stars within four seasons.
00:29:52 It was a weird transition.
00:29:55 The Kemba thing was almost like, at the time, felt like a desperation move to stay
00:30:00 afloat after losing Kyrie and Horford in the same summer.
00:30:04 So you really can't go all in by giving up young guys, at least at that point.
00:30:08 You're like, cuz you don't really know what you have.
00:30:09 You don't know if it's worth it.
00:30:10 Why would you go all in if you have Kemba and Ennis Kanter?
00:30:16 Luckily for the Celtics, Tatum takes a leap.
00:30:19 He's given more responsibility and he thrives.
00:30:21 Jalen Brown, same story.
00:30:23 And then Kemba starts to get hurt.
00:30:24 And those two are able to shoulder the burden, at least at a decent clip.
00:30:29 Of course, the 21 season was not great.
00:30:32 Brown has a surgery to end his season, Celtics losing five to the Nets.
00:30:35 But there really was never a point where it was like, man,
00:30:40 we have to put our chips in.
00:30:43 The Celtics are now getting to that point where it's like, okay,
00:30:46 we have two bona fide guys.
00:30:49 As you mentioned, trading Isaiah for Kyrie,
00:30:51 who was a solidified star in the league.
00:30:54 You already have those guys.
00:30:56 So it's more acceptable to take a swing on a guy that
00:31:01 is more of a risk like a Porzingis.
00:31:05 Because it's like, okay, you're going for it.
00:31:08 But there was never a move to go for it.
00:31:10 And when there was, it was the Kyrie thing, and he did it.
00:31:14 >> I understand, and I know what you're saying,
00:31:17 because it was sort of a developmental error, right?
00:31:19 Like the Jays weren't their full selves yet.
00:31:22 I just don't think Ainge would have made the trades.
00:31:25 It was, I just don't think Danny Ainge would have made the trades
00:31:27 Brad Stephens did.
00:31:29 I don't think he would have traded for a J.
00:31:30 >> You might be right, we don't know.
00:31:31 >> And my, exactly, but my point is- >> He certainly didn't trade for
00:31:34 Jimmy Butler.
00:31:34 >> He didn't do that, and it worked out.
00:31:37 But you look at the tenure.
00:31:39 Danny Ainge didn't trade picks.
00:31:40 He traded first round picks like twice in his tenure.
00:31:44 That I look back and there could be more, so
00:31:46 correct me in the comments, feel free.
00:31:48 He traded two firsts in the Kevin Garnett deal, right?
00:31:50 Obviously, that worked out.
00:31:51 He's trading for an MVP, you're gonna give up first round picks.
00:31:53 And he gave up two first round picks in the same draft.
00:31:55 Two firsts in the 2009 draft,
00:31:58 didn't trade any other future firsts outside of that.
00:31:59 I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's a good move, he got Kevin Garnett.
00:32:02 The other time he traded a first was in the Isaiah Thomas deal.
00:32:04 He traded a 2016 first.
00:32:06 That wasn't the Celtics.
00:32:07 He didn't trade the Celtics first round pick.
00:32:08 He traded the Cavs first round pick.
00:32:09 Yes.
00:32:10 But it wasn't the Celtics first round pick to begin with either, is my point.
00:32:14 Like he didn't trade-
00:32:15 >> It was Brooklyn's.
00:32:16 >> Yes, I think it was actually the Cavs.
00:32:18 >> No, it was Brooklyn's.
00:32:20 >> In the Isaiah Thomas trade?
00:32:21 >> Which one?
00:32:23 >> The first round.
00:32:24 >> When he left?
00:32:25 >> No, no, no, when he traded for Isaiah Thomas.
00:32:27 >> Okay, okay, okay, okay.
00:32:28 >> He traded that first, and then he traded Cleveland's first in that trade.
00:32:31 And then in the trade where he got Kyrie, he did trade another one, right?
00:32:34 He traded first round picks when he got star players.
00:32:38 Or I guess in the case of the first Isaiah Thomas trade,
00:32:41 a potential star player where it just made sense because they were getting other assets too.
00:32:46 Brad Stevens traded a first round pick for a role player because he thought it would fit well with the team.
00:32:50 He traded another first round pick for another role player because he thought it would fit well with the team, right?
00:32:54 He has showed more of an openness to using draft picks as currency rather than,
00:33:02 I'm not giving this up unless I get a superstar.
00:33:06 And if I don't, I'll just make the pick and we'll develop a million rookies.
00:33:09 Cuz at one point on the team, I think this was another number I threw in there.
00:33:13 In the Brad Stevens era, the Celtics have had three rookies, four with Jordan Walsh now.
00:33:23 They've had four rookies in these X amount of years.
00:33:25 In the two year period from after Isaiah Thomas to end,
00:33:29 the Celtics had eight rookies on the roster.
00:33:31 They had Carson Edwards.
00:33:32 >> They also have way more picks.
00:33:34 >> That's my point cuz Danny Ainge kept the picks and it was a developmental era, so of course.
00:33:39 But you looked at the top half of those Jays teams with Tatum, Kemba, Jalen, Marcus.
00:33:46 That's a chord that should have and did go to the Eastern Conference Finals.
00:33:49 So on one hand, you're like, okay, this is a young team, so
00:33:54 let's get a bunch of young guys to develop.
00:33:55 On the second hand, you're like, okay,
00:33:58 it was almost like a watered down version of the 2022 Warriors.
00:34:03 And in this current Warriors team where they're accepting that they have a really
00:34:06 good top end, but they're like, okay, let's try to get by with these young guys at
00:34:10 the bottom, and that was fine.
00:34:13 But Brad, and I'm not saying Danny Ainge was wrong for that, but
00:34:15 I'm saying Brad Stevens has taken the reins and said, okay,
00:34:18 as much as I wanna develop some young talent, we should probably have a top eight,
00:34:21 top nine that is not rounded out by Shemmy O'Joley and Brad Wanamaker.
00:34:25 And so I think, and I said this in the article,
00:34:28 I think Danny Ainge did a great job of setting up Celtics for the future.
00:34:31 But then Brad Stevens took the reins, and
00:34:33 I think he's done a great job of setting them up for the now as well.
00:34:36 And so I think it was like a one-two punch.
00:34:37 And I wasn't trying to diss Danny Ainge, I'm just saying-
00:34:39 >> No, I know.
00:34:40 >> I think Brad Stevens is taking a different approach.
00:34:41 >> I'm doing the U move and playing Devil's Advocate.
00:34:44 >> And I appreciate that.
00:34:45 And also, for context, it's August, so I wrote an article about Brad Stevens' GM.
00:34:49 [LAUGH] >> No, I mean,
00:34:51 I don't think anybody out there is gonna be like, Steven sucks as GM,
00:34:54 he's been awesome.
00:34:55 >> All things you said are true.
00:34:56 I just, I wonder about if there was really a reason for
00:35:03 Ainge to go all in.
00:35:04 I mean, even, look at the 2018 team.
00:35:07 Hayward doesn't snap his leg, that might be a-
00:35:10 >> They had good depth,
00:35:11 they had really good depth, they did.
00:35:12 Yeah, no, I don't know.
00:35:14 It was just an interesting- >> Hey, we get to knee surgery.
00:35:17 They had a few unlucky bounces in that little window.
00:35:22 >> Absolutely, absolutely.
00:35:23 All right, next thing we have is the best moment from every Celtic last season.
00:35:27 Another article I wrote for Celtics blog, again, it's August,
00:35:30 we're getting creative here.
00:35:31 So I went through and how do you wanna do this?
00:35:34 I don't know if you read the article.
00:35:36 I tell you what I had as the moment, you tell me if you can think of a better one.
00:35:39 You wanna do that one?
00:35:39 >> Okay, all right.
00:35:41 >> I'm just thinking the way we discuss this.
00:35:42 Do you wanna tell me what you think the moment should be?
00:35:44 I think that might be better actually.
00:35:45 >> Maybe I'll guess the moment.
00:35:47 >> Yeah, yeah, okay.
00:35:49 So again, I wrote the best moment from every Celtic player during the 2019-
00:35:53 >> Yeah, man.
00:35:53 >> 22, 23 season, okay.
00:35:54 >> But I also did help you with one guy.
00:35:57 >> You did, yes, correct.
00:35:58 [LAUGH] All right, Mike Muscala, what was the best Mike Muscala moment?
00:36:02 >> He had that one third quarter where he didn't miss.
00:36:05 >> I have his- >> I don't know if you picked that, but
00:36:09 there was a third quarter where Mike Muscala had 17 points.
00:36:12 >> I'm not sure if that is this game.
00:36:14 I just picked his debut game.
00:36:16 He had- >> No.
00:36:17 >> 12 points in his debut, but he had four threes and it was a lecture.
00:36:20 Cuz everyone's like, Muscala's here, look at what-
00:36:21 >> No, it was one of those garbage games
00:36:25 against the Hawks at the end of the year.
00:36:27 >> Yes, he had 27 against the Hawks.
00:36:29 >> Yeah, he just went off.
00:36:30 So wrong, Jack 0 for 1.
00:36:33 >> [LAUGH] >> No, his debut was cool,
00:36:35 cuz everybody got excited.
00:36:36 >> That's what I'm saying, I thought it was more fun.
00:36:37 Luke Cornett, best moment.
00:36:39 >> Man.
00:36:41 >> It's not, I don't know if I kind of cheated with this one.
00:36:43 It's not an exact moment, it's just a thing.
00:36:45 >> It's just the Cornett contest?
00:36:46 >> It's just the Cornett contest.
00:36:47 That's just the best thing to come out of Luke.
00:36:49 I mean, he made national media.
00:36:51 Luke Cornett made national media.
00:36:52 >> No, people were starting to think, should everybody do this?
00:36:56 I mean, nobody loved it more than Scal.
00:36:57 >> Wenbinyama did it in the summer league this year.
00:37:00 >> Did he?
00:37:00 >> Yeah, I think so.
00:37:02 >> Cornett nods.
00:37:03 >> He did something.
00:37:04 >> He's watching the game.
00:37:06 >> My honorable mentions were the bird celebration where he went like this.
00:37:09 >> Yep. >> And
00:37:09 then eating Jason Tatum's ruffle chips at the beginning of a game.
00:37:13 >> That's right, he walked in with the chips.
00:37:15 >> [LAUGH] >> Yeah, those are my favorite too.
00:37:17 Luke Cornett's fun, he's good.
00:37:19 Peyton Pritchard.
00:37:21 >> Pritchard had triple double last game of the year.
00:37:22 >> 30 point triple double, that was easy.
00:37:24 Honorable mentions were January 21st against the Raptors.
00:37:28 He had a big game and then he grabbed a million offensive rebounds.
00:37:30 >> He loves playing the Raptors, dude.
00:37:32 >> That he does.
00:37:33 Blake Griffin.
00:37:33 >> Blake Griffin had five threes against 76ers.
00:37:37 >> I put that in as an honorable mention, but-
00:37:39 >> Was it the L-U dunk?
00:37:40 >> No, that is an honorable mention.
00:37:42 I had the bus one boys, but the top moment that I chose was when he got headbutt by
00:37:47 Thanasis and just laughed in his face.
00:37:48 >> Good pick.
00:37:49 >> Shout out by- >> Good pick.
00:37:50 >> Blake hit a lot of good moments.
00:37:52 To cut a full circle to how we started the show.
00:37:54 >> Yes, shout out Bill Sy, Celtics blog editor extraordinaire.
00:37:57 He gave me that moment and that kind of kick started the whole thing.
00:38:00 So that is there.
00:38:02 Sam Houser, this one I wasn't sure which one to go with,
00:38:04 because there's a couple moments that I probably could have chosen over this, but
00:38:06 I chose one in particular.
00:38:08 >> I think it's the game tying shot against the box to send the game to overtime.
00:38:12 But there was also that game where he started against the Knicks and
00:38:15 he had a really, really great start.
00:38:17 It was like all of our revelation to Sam Houser.
00:38:20 >> I see. >> Where it was like he had 18 points
00:38:22 early game three of the season.
00:38:23 I was like, my God.
00:38:25 >> Yes, I had the game tying shot against the Bucks is an honorable mention, but
00:38:28 they lost the game.
00:38:29 So I thought it was like a little less cool because they lost.
00:38:31 >> Yes, correct.
00:38:32 >> I had his dunk.
00:38:33 >> His three dunks.
00:38:36 >> Yeah, his dunk fest against the Raptors.
00:38:37 That was another honorable mention.
00:38:39 I was gonna choose the Knicks game because that was like the first hint at it.
00:38:42 >> Yeah. >> But then a couple games later,
00:38:44 he had another huge game against the Pistons where he had, excuse me,
00:38:49 had a career high 24 and so I chose that one instead.
00:38:51 Cuz it felt like the Knicks was the first appetizer and
00:38:54 then the Pistons was the entree of Sam Houser is here.
00:38:57 So I went with Pistons over Knicks, but those two games-
00:39:01 >> And then Joe Mazzola said we're not
00:39:02 gonna play this guy in the playoffs.
00:39:04 >> Yeah, unfortunate, unfortunate.
00:39:06 Grant Williams, and these were good moments, best moments.
00:39:09 These were not, yeah.
00:39:12 >> Grant had an alley-oop dunk against the Pistons.
00:39:14 Grant, is it bad that I really can't think of any great Grant games?
00:39:19 >> I struggled, I struggled a little bit.
00:39:21 I had game two against Philly in the playoffs.
00:39:24 >> When he got his face stepped on?
00:39:27 >> I think so, yeah, he hustled, he stopped.
00:39:29 Joel Embiid played good minutes there.
00:39:32 He had 12 points, he lifted them to their, I mean, they killed him in that game.
00:39:37 No, I think he got stomped in a different game, but-
00:39:39 >> Game three.
00:39:41 >> Yeah, but I had game two.
00:39:42 >> Cuz I didn't see it live, I was at the med school prom.
00:39:45 >> I had game two.
00:39:46 Robert Williams, another one where I was like,
00:39:49 I don't really know what his season best is.
00:39:52 >> I can't really think of it.
00:39:55 >> I chose game three against the Hawks.
00:39:59 He had 13 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, two steals, two blocks.
00:40:03 He really got a ton of rebounds and they struggled on the boards in that series.
00:40:08 So that's what I went with.
00:40:08 He had another big game against the Spurs in January.
00:40:11 >> That was the one where he had the closeout block and
00:40:14 then took it coast to coast, the highlight.
00:40:17 >> And then his season debut against the Magic was fun too,
00:40:19 cuz he came back, but it was tough to- >> I was there, they lost.
00:40:22 >> Yeah, so I couldn't choose it.
00:40:25 >> Brogdon.
00:40:25 >> I was there too.
00:40:26 >> Brogdon, it might, I mean, he had a lot of good games.
00:40:34 >> This was tough.
00:40:34 So I originally chose, he had 30 points against the Hornets earlier in the season.
00:40:38 That was the season high.
00:40:39 But it was the Hornets, so I ended up putting that as an under mention.
00:40:42 I had game two as the Hawks, but I had game two against Philly.
00:40:45 He shared it with Grant.
00:40:46 He had 23 points, six rebounds, two assists.
00:40:50 He was just on fire from three in that game, helped him to the blowout.
00:40:53 So I chose that.
00:40:54 There wasn't really any other ones.
00:40:57 I mean, the most memorable moment was probably when he threw the ball to Maxie.
00:41:00 But this was best moments.
00:41:02 Just like I couldn't choose, I'm gonna make them both for Grant.
00:41:05 >> Should I do a worst moments?
00:41:07 >> Yes, you should.
00:41:08 >> I don't have the energy, maybe next week.
00:41:11 We can do it together if you want.
00:41:13 Al Horford, what do you got for Al?
00:41:15 >> The elite shooter game.
00:41:16 >> Absolutely, that was game three against the Sixers.
00:41:19 >> In Philly, torture chamber, they all hate him.
00:41:23 Big game, helps them win a road game after they kick away the game one.
00:41:27 >> Yep, and he was struggling too.
00:41:29 He shot two for 12 in the first two games.
00:41:31 And then he just lit him up in that game three.
00:41:34 So good for him. >> It's always fire when Al Horford turns up, man.
00:41:38 >> My other honorable mentions were game seven against the Sixers,
00:41:42 where he just locked up Joel Embiid.
00:41:44 And then- >> I think that one might have been
00:41:45 actually a better pick,
00:41:47 even though it doesn't jump off the page at you.
00:41:49 He was so impactful on the defensive end, it was more important.
00:41:53 >> I think the defense was more series wide, so
00:41:56 maybe I could have chose that.
00:41:57 And then the other one was January 19th against the Warriors.
00:42:00 He was awesome as well.
00:42:01 So, but I think they, I can't remember if they won that game or lost that game.
00:42:04 >> They did, they won.
00:42:05 That was the overtime game at the Garden.
00:42:07 >> Yeah, Marcus Smart, this is the one you helped me with.
00:42:10 >> He had a monster game six at the table for Tatum to come back from the dead and
00:42:16 carry them to victory, but he was awesome throughout the whole game.
00:42:18 Kept him in the game.
00:42:20 >> Yep, I went with that one.
00:42:21 Honorable mentions game five against the Heat, he was really good.
00:42:24 He had a lot of steals.
00:42:25 And then 15 assists against the Hornets.
00:42:26 >> First half in game one, just ten assists in the first half.
00:42:30 And then they stopped letting him pass.
00:42:31 >> Yep, Derek White, I mean, come on.
00:42:35 >> The game winner.
00:42:36 >> Easy. >> It's gotta be, it's gotta be.
00:42:38 I had game, honorable mentions game one and two against the Hawks.
00:42:42 Yeah, I ran around my house.
00:42:43 And then Eastern Conference Player of the Week, that was another good one.
00:42:46 Jalen Brown, what do we got?
00:42:48 >> Let's see.
00:42:49 >> That's a tough one, I struggled with this one.
00:42:51 He was good, but it was just like- >> He had a half court
00:42:54 overtime shot against the Heat.
00:42:56 Did he have 50 this year in a game?
00:42:59 >> I don't think he had 50 this year, he had 50 last year.
00:43:02 >> Yeah, I remember it was the Magic.
00:43:04 >> He had some good regular season games though.
00:43:07 >> He had 41 against the Spurs, I had that one as an honorable mention.
00:43:11 I picked game six against the Hawks though, the closeout game.
00:43:14 He had 32 points, him and Tatum exploded for like 70 combined or
00:43:17 something crazy, or close to 70 combined.
00:43:19 And he was on fire, he shot 13 to 25, six of eight from three.
00:43:23 And it was the playoff, so
00:43:24 I figured I'll just go with that one instead.
00:43:26 >> Okay. >> But it was tough to nail down
00:43:28 one single moment, unlike it was for Tatum, which was easy.
00:43:32 Which was, what was Tatum's best moment?
00:43:35 >> Easy, this was an easy pick for me.
00:43:37 >> Game seven.
00:43:39 >> Yeah, game seven against Philly, murdered the Sixers, 51 points.
00:43:44 Seven to 28 from the field, six to ten from deep.
00:43:47 He also had 13 rebounds, five assists and two steals, and 11 free throws.
00:43:51 He just killed them, it wasn't close.
00:43:53 I had, the honorable mentions, game four against the Heat, he was really good.
00:43:56 And then the game winner against- >> Game six.
00:43:58 >> Game six was another one, but he struggled, so it was-
00:44:02 >> Yeah, the game winner in Philly.
00:44:03 >> Game winner, was another one I had, yeah.
00:44:04 >> With Dunton Yonis on Christmas.
00:44:06 He had some good, he had a really fun season.
00:44:11 So he came out with his shoes and then forgot how to play for two months.
00:44:15 >> Yeah, yeah, those are my honorable mentions though.
00:44:17 >> Okay.
00:44:19 >> And then I think we had another Celtics blog article,
00:44:22 which I feel like we should just save, we'll just bank that.
00:44:23 >> Pop it in.
00:44:24 >> Yeah, and then the last thing we have- >> Staying away on Jason Tatum.
00:44:26 Speaking of Jason Tatum, go ahead.
00:44:28 >> You do it, lead it off, you put this on the show sheet.
00:44:32 >> Speaking of Jason Tatum, Cooper Flagg, super cool prospect from Maine.
00:44:38 >> Mm-hm.
00:44:39 >> Spoke on Jason Tatum this week, he said, if I could find it.
00:44:43 Jason Tatum is my favorite player in the NBA right now.
00:44:47 I don't know if it's possible, at least he understands it.
00:44:50 But that's definitely a player I'd love to play with one day.
00:44:53 Who wouldn't want to play for their hometown team?
00:44:56 >> Eyes emoji.
00:44:59 Eyes emoji.
00:45:00 >> Get ready to start trading for draft picks, buddy.
00:45:04 >> Cooper Flagg is- >> You can draft Cooper Flagg.
00:45:06 >> Yeah. >> Cooper Flagg is nasty.
00:45:07 For those who aren't aware of Cooper Flagg,
00:45:09 which you should be if you're a basketball fan.
00:45:11 He is projected to be the number one recruit, or the number one pick, or
00:45:14 a top ex-pick in the 2025 NBA draft.
00:45:18 He just reclassified to the 2024 high school class, I believe.
00:45:23 So he was supposed to be 2025 high school class and be in the 2026 draft.
00:45:27 >> Wow. >> But now I believe he is 2024.
00:45:30 >> He must be real smart to skip a grade.
00:45:33 >> Something like that.
00:45:34 I think he's just old enough.
00:45:35 >> Probably has straight A's.
00:45:36 >> He's just old enough where he can't do it.
00:45:39 So he's going to be a draft earlier and gonna be in the 2025 NBA draft,
00:45:44 I believe is what it is.
00:45:45 But he is from Maine, from a town that's not really known for basketball.
00:45:51 He's a twin.
00:45:52 >> A state not known for basketball.
00:45:54 >> A state, yeah.
00:45:55 >> A region not known for basketball.
00:45:57 >> Yeah, Cooper Flagg is a twin as well.
00:45:59 He's a twin brother, so he plays.
00:46:00 I believe- >> Tough for a twin.
00:46:02 >> I know he has a brother, but I'm pretty sure they're twins.
00:46:05 I'm gonna double check here.
00:46:07 Yes, his brother's name is Ace Flagg.
00:46:12 He's also good, but he's just not number one pick in the draft.
00:46:15 >> Ace is the better name.
00:46:16 >> Ace is the one that should be good at basketball.
00:46:18 >> [LAUGH] >> Well, he's good, but
00:46:20 he's not like everybody who's watching him play at Rucker Park good.
00:46:25 >> Yes, I agree.
00:46:26 >> Ace is 6'7", so he's also tall.
00:46:28 He is getting recruited, but he's a three-star recruit in his class.
00:46:33 Yeah, I know.
00:46:34 He's a three-star recruit in his class.
00:46:35 >> How funny being his brother's 5'5".
00:46:37 >> I know, he's not as tall as Cooper, though.
00:46:39 Three-star recruit, it says he has an offer from West Virginia.
00:46:41 So he's a D1 player, but he's not Cooper Flagg.
00:46:46 Cooper Flagg- >> Has he been to college yet?
00:46:49 Cuz he doesn't have to.
00:46:50 >> No, Cooper Flagg- >> Wait, no,
00:46:51 he graduates this upcoming school year.
00:46:52 >> Yes, yes.
00:46:54 >> Yeah, we're gonna learn soon.
00:46:55 Cooper Flagg is not committed, but there was something on Twitter today.
00:46:59 Let me look, that he is going to visits from a few schools.
00:47:03 Let me find the list so I don't- >> He should go to the University of Maine,
00:47:07 put him on the map.
00:47:08 >> Cooper Flagg plans to visit Duke, Kansas, and UConn this fall.
00:47:12 So he's gonna be playing for a big boy school.
00:47:15 >> If you're a real New Englander, go play.
00:47:17 >> Those are his three first official visits.
00:47:20 School list, this is ESPN.
00:47:22 These are the schools he has offers from already.
00:47:25 West Virginia, UConn, UCLA, UAlbany, Providence, Michigan, Maine,
00:47:30 Iowa, Georgia, Duke, Bryant.
00:47:32 So- >> Bryant!
00:47:33 >> Plenty of- >> Brasso, fire, the coach.
00:47:36 >> Plenty of offers for Cooper Flagg.
00:47:39 But yeah, I mean- >> You are on it, slack him.
00:47:42 They're making, listen, you got Providence and Bryant, get in on the fun.
00:47:46 He's not, you got Ray Allen's kid there now, just be like, look.
00:47:51 >> How sick would it be if Cooper Flagg went to Maine, though?
00:47:53 >> It would be sick.
00:47:54 That would be the most respectable move of all time.
00:47:57 >> There's no chance, though.
00:47:58 There's just no shot.
00:47:59 >> Him and his brother can go hoop there.
00:48:00 It'd be great.
00:48:01 >> Yeah.
00:48:01 Do you think Maine would make the tournament, any chance?
00:48:03 >> I think if Cooper Flagg goes to Maine,
00:48:06 they can probably get him some fellas to play with.
00:48:10 >> This is true.
00:48:10 >> That is, cuz you have a transfer portal now.
00:48:13 I will say this, 2024, 25, not the worst year for
00:48:19 the Celtics to maybe have somebody get injured.
00:48:21 >> [LAUGH] >> Maybe, maybe, hey.
00:48:26 >> Imagine if they were able to draft him, how crazy that'd be.
00:48:29 >> That's so sad.
00:48:30 You know what they need to do?
00:48:31 >> Well, I mean, you have to think the Spurs got Tim Duncan cuz David Robinson
00:48:35 was out for a year.
00:48:36 >> Yeah, you know what they need to do?
00:48:38 This is gonna make me sound like a complete hater.
00:48:42 And I'm gonna preface this with this is all a joke.
00:48:46 This is not real.
00:48:47 All I'm saying.
00:48:50 >> You ruined the joke by saying that.
00:48:52 >> I know, I know, but I'm gonna get hate and you're gonna yell at me.
00:48:54 It's not even a joke, it's just hypothetical.
00:48:56 Let me set the scene for you.
00:48:58 Jason Tatum tears his ACL out for the season.
00:49:01 Disaster. >> That's what I just said.
00:49:02 >> Disaster strikes.
00:49:03 Wait, Jalen Brown, everyone's right.
00:49:06 Sick of Boston, doesn't wanna be there.
00:49:08 Need to trade him, he's gotta go.
00:49:10 He gets something else.
00:49:11 >> Be careful, be careful, be careful.
00:49:13 >> Get a big- >> Be very careful.
00:49:16 >> Robert Williams knee, disaster strikes.
00:49:18 Malcolm Brogdon, he's still mad at the Celtics for not trading him.
00:49:22 Absolute implosion, Cooper flag comes back.
00:49:24 Robert Williams is healthy again.
00:49:27 Jalen Brown scans the team they traded for, says get back to Boston.
00:49:32 No, I can't imagine a world where the Celtics get Cooper flag.
00:49:36 They would have to pull off some ridiculous team that's supposed to be-
00:49:40 >> Do they own anybody else's draft picks?
00:49:42 >> No. >> They have the Warriors pick this year.
00:49:44 >> They do. >> Too bad.
00:49:47 >> Pro sports, let me just double check.
00:49:50 >> No, that's the only one I think.
00:49:52 >> In the 2025 draft, the Celtics just have their own pick and that's it, so.
00:49:56 >> Do something about that.
00:49:57 >> Not looking great.
00:49:58 No, Cooper flag wanting to play with Jason Tatum is dope.
00:50:01 I mean, it's cool to hear.
00:50:04 Let me rephrase, it's unsurprising to hear he's from Maine.
00:50:07 Of course, you'd wanna play for the team that he grew up rooting for, right?
00:50:10 >> You know Cooper flag is gonna go to a Celtics game this year and
00:50:13 they're gonna put him up on the screen.
00:50:15 And like half the garden's gonna go nuts cuz they know who he is.
00:50:18 >> Yeah, yeah, he's gonna show up.
00:50:21 >> This is the next guy, him.
00:50:23 >> People are gonna be hyped.
00:50:24 >> He's him.
00:50:24 >> Yeah, people are gonna be excited.
00:50:28 And then I mean, the class after that, so Cooper flag's gonna be the 2025 draft.
00:50:33 What do you mean, don't care?
00:50:34 >> Class after Cooper flag?
00:50:36 What are we talking about?
00:50:37 >> Well, my point is it's another Massachusetts guy,
00:50:39 he's gonna be the first overall pick.
00:50:40 Yeah, yeah, don't care, fuck you, you asshole, let me fucking talk.
00:50:44 >> Massachusetts guy?
00:50:45 Who?
00:50:45 >> He's from Brockton, he's from one town away from me.
00:50:48 His name's AJ DeBonsa.
00:50:51 >> Is that Plymouth County?
00:50:52 I think it's Plymouth County.
00:50:53 >> Yes.
00:50:54 >> Not Bristol.
00:50:54 >> Yes.
00:50:55 What county is Brockton?
00:50:59 >> Plymouth. >> Plymouth County, you're right.
00:51:00 But I could walk out of my house and drive five minutes and be in Brockton.
00:51:05 So it's like right there, his name's AJ DeBonsa.
00:51:07 He's projected to be the first pick in the 2020 whatever class.
00:51:11 >> Well, he's no Cooper flag.
00:51:13 >> Well, he's pretty damn good.
00:51:15 >> No ace flag.
00:51:16 >> But yeah, two straight prospects from New England.
00:51:20 Cooper flag wants to play with Jason Tatum, would like to play-
00:51:23 >> Wants to play in the Celtics, yeah.
00:51:25 >> Would be pretty cool.
00:51:27 Probably not gonna happen anytime soon.
00:51:28 >> Back in the day, Ben Simmons posted a MyPlayer,
00:51:31 where his favorite team was Boston Celtics.
00:51:33 So don't close the door on that one.
00:51:36 >> Maybe, maybe, you never know.
00:51:38 All right, should we move on to the NBA?
00:51:40 >> Yeah.
00:51:41 >> Let's see what we got.
00:51:42 Lead us off here, Sam.
00:51:42 I'll let you kick it off.
00:51:43 You got the, you made the show sheet.
00:51:45 So here, what do we got first?
00:51:46 >> I kind of put this together today.
00:51:47 So James Harden is finished.
00:51:49 >> [LAUGH] >> The NBA has fined James Harden $100,000.
00:51:54 He's essentially homeless now.
00:51:55 He has- >> He doesn't even wanna pay it.
00:51:58 The NBPA is filing a grievance with the fine.
00:52:02 >> Well, for what it's worth, that is the most they possibly could have fined him.
00:52:05 >> Yeah. >> To us, it sounds like a slap on
00:52:07 the wrist, but they did the max punishment.
00:52:10 Also, James Harden has unfollowed Dara Mori on Twitter, so rip.
00:52:13 >> Shocker, shocker.
00:52:15 I don't know, man.
00:52:16 It's, I think- >> They should fight.
00:52:19 >> We've gone back and forth on this.
00:52:20 I don't think either side is handling this particularly well.
00:52:23 We've heard James Harden is mad cuz the Sixers said they'd trade him quickly and
00:52:28 then they didn't.
00:52:29 I heard today, I think Keith Smith and Trevor Layen of the-
00:52:31 >> For trades to happen,
00:52:32 somebody has to want you.
00:52:35 >> Well, yeah, well, that's what I was saying.
00:52:36 The NBA front office pod was talking about it, and they were like,
00:52:39 it sounds like, well, they got the information from Brian Windhorst.
00:52:42 I'm just saying where I heard it, that the Clippers pulled out of negotiations.
00:52:45 They were like, yeah, no, we don't really know anymore.
00:52:48 >> Who's trading for him?
00:52:49 Name one team.
00:52:50 Name one team that will trade for James, that even makes sense.
00:52:54 There's none.
00:52:55 >> That's what I'm saying.
00:52:58 I don't know, it's a weird situation.
00:52:59 And the Sixers are being, from all accounts, from what Dara Mori has said,
00:53:03 unrealistic in their trade-ass too, which I guess is fair.
00:53:07 But basically what they want is they want players to help them win now, but
00:53:12 they also don't want any long-term money because they wanna be able to spend money
00:53:15 next summer, which is like, you can't really have both.
00:53:19 [LAUGH] That's not really how it works.
00:53:22 So they're also just being super stupid in their negotiations.
00:53:25 And I mean, we don't have to get into it last time.
00:53:28 >> I'm literally flipping through my head.
00:53:30 I can't think of a team that won him.
00:53:32 >> I know we have differing opinions on, should James Harden get all the blame?
00:53:35 And you hate James Harden, you think he should.
00:53:37 I disagree, I think both teams are stupid.
00:53:38 And my thing that I go back to is, if you were iffy on trading him,
00:53:42 excuse me, because you don't know about the return.
00:53:45 Or you don't know if you wanted to give him a max,
00:53:48 don't say you're gonna do those things in the first place.
00:53:50 Just say we'll see, right?
00:53:51 And then it'll be up to- >> The we'll see thing is fine, but-
00:53:54 >> That's what I'm saying.
00:53:55 >> Again, you can't trade him if nobody wants him.
00:53:58 Nobody wants him.
00:53:59 >> Then don't say we're gonna trade you real quick.
00:54:01 Then don't say, yeah, we're gonna trade you, don't worry.
00:54:04 Because when you say we're gonna trade you, don't worry.
00:54:05 >> Maybe you think somebody would want him.
00:54:08 Whose fault is that really?
00:54:10 >> Then say we'll gauge the market and let you know.
00:54:12 Don't say yes, we'll trade you.
00:54:14 >> If they said they'd trade him bead quickly,
00:54:15 I'm sure somebody would take him bead.
00:54:18 >> Well, yes, but then say we'll see the market.
00:54:21 Don't say, yeah, we'll trade you, don't worry about it.
00:54:23 >> Sure, we'll see the market, but also don't suck.
00:54:25 >> Yeah, I don't know who would want him though.
00:54:29 >> Nobody.
00:54:29 >> Who would want James Harden?
00:54:30 >> Maybe. >> Nobody wants the-
00:54:31 >> I really hope he goes to play in China.
00:54:33 That would be the best thing ever.
00:54:34 >> That'd be kind of fire.
00:54:35 I'd respect James Harden for that.
00:54:36 I don't care.
00:54:37 Yeah, see you later.
00:54:37 >> I would respect it, but it would just also be like-
00:54:40 >> Well, the thing is-
00:54:41 >> This is like my fantasy of a player trying to force his way out and
00:54:44 just getting fucked.
00:54:45 >> Well, that's the issue.
00:54:46 He can't, and he can't next year either.
00:54:49 If James Harden doesn't report to training camp-
00:54:50 >> Why can't he-
00:54:52 >> Listen, no, listen, listen, listen.
00:54:53 >> Why not?
00:54:54 >> CBA, I'm gonna explain it if you let me fucking talk.
00:54:56 >> Is it because he opted into the final year of his deal?
00:54:59 Is that why?
00:54:59 >> Am I, can I talk now?
00:55:03 Can I explain now?
00:55:04 Fucker.
00:55:05 >> New thing in the CBA, if a player holds out or doesn't report,
00:55:09 they are not out of their contract at the end of it.
00:55:11 So if James Harden doesn't hold out this season, or
00:55:14 if he holds out the season and doesn't report to the Sixers,
00:55:16 the Sixers control what team next or where he goes next after his current contract.
00:55:20 Like, it doesn't just end.
00:55:21 Like, he can't just not play this year and
00:55:23 then do whatever he wants when his contract is up.
00:55:25 So, yeah, I thought you didn't- >> WCBA, W.
00:55:28 >> [LAUGH]
00:55:29 >> So that- >> They need to be held accountable for
00:55:31 this stuff.
00:55:31 At the end of the day, don't opt in.
00:55:35 Yeah, I don't know.
00:55:36 It's just entertaining.
00:55:37 I don't really give a shit.
00:55:39 This is August Entertainment at its finest.
00:55:42 I'm fine with it.
00:55:43 Speaking of August Entertainment- >> Find a way to be the most ridiculous.
00:55:47 Yes, speaking of ridiculous.
00:55:48 >> Harden or the Sixers, both?
00:55:50 >> Both.
00:55:51 >> It's great.
00:55:52 I love it.
00:55:52 I'm enjoying.
00:55:53 But speaking of August Entertainment, Lonzo Ball and Stephen A.
00:55:56 Smith, not really beefing, but- >> Lonzo Ball has finished Stephen A.
00:56:01 Speaking of just being finished.
00:56:03 Stephen A- >> Go ahead.
00:56:04 >> On first take, cuz Lonzo has been a topic of discussion.
00:56:07 He went on, I think, Trey Young's podcast.
00:56:09 It was just saying he feels bad for the Bulls.
00:56:11 You know more about this than me.
00:56:12 You probably wrote about it.
00:56:12 >> Yeah.
00:56:13 >> But anyways, Stephen A's like, yeah, Lonzo's knee is so
00:56:18 bad that he can barely stand up if he's sitting in a chair.
00:56:21 And then Lonzo posted a video of him repeatedly using one leg,
00:56:26 the bad leg, to get up and down, up from a chair and then sitting back down.
00:56:31 >> Fire, it's elite.
00:56:32 That's a power move. >> Is this the equivalent of going up to
00:56:34 a person in a wheelchair and being like stand up and then they do it?
00:56:37 And they just prove you wrong, you're just shell shocked.
00:56:40 It's the Kevin Nash where he fakes being in a wheelchair and gets up.
00:56:45 >> Yeah. >> Yeah.
00:56:46 Yeah, no, something like that.
00:56:49 >> The Lonzo thing's crazy.
00:56:51 >> I know, I feel bad for Lonzo.
00:56:52 It's not like, he doesn't deserve it.
00:56:54 He's a good player. >> Well, he talked about it.
00:56:54 He was like, this is the first time I felt like I was in a really great
00:56:57 situation to succeed and he can't play.
00:57:01 >> Stephen A, I mean, Stephen A is on a burner lately.
00:57:04 You see what he said this morning?
00:57:05 He's like, yeah, Michael Jordan texted me, said that Magic Johnson's better stuff.
00:57:09 No, he didn't.
00:57:10 There's no fucking chance Michael Jordan texted him.
00:57:12 I'm sorry.
00:57:13 Michael Jordan is golfing, smoking cigars, and not giving a fuck about anything.
00:57:18 >> You see the video of somebody filming Michael Jordan making the goat noses at
00:57:22 him?
00:57:23 >> Yes, he just doesn't care.
00:57:24 He just didn't care.
00:57:25 >> That's so, who?
00:57:26 >> It cringed. >> You know how weird you have to be to
00:57:28 do that?
00:57:28 >> It's very cringe.
00:57:29 If you make goat noses at anybody, noises, my God.
00:57:33 At anybody, they should be able to beat the shit out of you.
00:57:36 >> I agree.
00:57:37 But the thought that Michael Jordan took time out of his day to text Stephen A
00:57:41 Smith in general, but not only that, just to say,
00:57:46 yeah, Magic Johnson's better than Steph Curry.
00:57:49 [LAUGH] I'm sorry, there's no fucking way.
00:57:52 And I love Stephen A, but like, bro, there's just, no.
00:57:56 I don't believe that for a second.
00:57:57 >> Stephen A is literally ESPN.
00:57:58 Without him, they have nothing.
00:57:59 >> Yes, agree, agree.
00:58:02 Speaking of, I mean, we talked about James Harden, Sam's favorite.
00:58:05 Let's talk about another one of Sam's favorites, Zion Williamson.
00:58:08 Recently, I don't know where he talked about this.
00:58:09 >> Notice how my favorite are the guys that just can't play or don't wanna play.
00:58:14 >> Sam's loved to hate this.
00:58:15 >> Ben Simmons too.
00:58:16 >> Zion was talking about the big three of him, CJ, and Brandon Ingram.
00:58:23 It was via League Alerts, I don't know what it is.
00:58:25 But basically, it was just saying, super excited about training camp,
00:58:29 super excited, he's like, yeah, we're killing them in scrimmages.
00:58:31 And as much as this is nothing, this is gonna be a Jack talks about something,
00:58:36 cuz Sam's just gonna be a hater, so let me talk first, and
00:58:38 then you can hate if you'd like to.
00:58:40 My thing is, as much as it sucks the situation, and
00:58:44 Zion couldn't be on the court, as much as you wanna blame Zion or
00:58:46 blame the Pelicans, to see him genuinely be excited about playing basketball with
00:58:51 these guys is fun.
00:58:52 It's because all you see about Zion is, this guy sucks, this guy is in a bad
00:58:56 situation, this guy is talking to a porn star, and this guy is having,
00:59:01 I'm saying all the summer, all the past few years.
00:59:03 >> One of us would kill to talk to a porn star, not me, I'm happy.
00:59:05 >> Negative, yeah, I was gonna say.
00:59:06 >> Maybe another member of the show.
00:59:07 >> Whoa, whoa, whoa, what are we doing?
00:59:10 >> Wait, wait, wait a sec, we're not doing that.
00:59:13 No, but here in Zion, genuinely excited about-
00:59:16 >> Could be Matt Thoreau.
00:59:17 >> Playing basketball is fun.
00:59:18 Cool to see him excited.
00:59:21 Some images surfaced, and I know it's the same Ben Simmons meme, but
00:59:25 it looks like he's a little healthier.
00:59:27 I am always of the belief that I want guys to be on the court.
00:59:30 I want guys to be healthy.
00:59:31 If Zion's healthy, I'd love to see him.
00:59:32 And like Sam always says, Pelicans were really good when those three were healthy.
00:59:35 >> No, they were.
00:59:36 You beat me too, I was gonna back you up.
00:59:39 >> I'm excited, it's nice to hear Zion being excited and actually wanting to play.
00:59:43 >> No, he should be excited.
00:59:44 I mean, that Pelicans team has a solid roster.
00:59:46 It's just a question of whether or not he can get on the floor.
00:59:50 And of course, when you're injured, it's not always your fault.
00:59:52 But when you're fat and you get injured because you're fat,
00:59:54 then it is your fault.
00:59:56 Even though you're in a tough spot, you're like 20 years old,
00:59:58 they have all the best food, everything's fried.
01:00:00 Of course, you're gonna get a little fat, even though you're a pro athlete.
01:00:03 You should be doing enough for your burnt calories.
01:00:05 >> Topic of conversation, is there a worse city Zion could have gone to?
01:00:10 >> [LAUGH] >> I feel, maybe not.
01:00:14 >> New York, maybe.
01:00:15 I mean, there's probably a lot of us in New York.
01:00:17 >> No, cuz they got everything, they got everything though.
01:00:20 >> This is true.
01:00:21 New York is such a melting pot, where they have everything.
01:00:25 >> I wanna go to New Orleans.
01:00:26 New Orleans seems like a fun place, I've never been.
01:00:28 It seems dope. >> Me neither.
01:00:29 >> Food, all the good stuff, maybe that's our next, maybe that's an adventure.
01:00:32 HBTC goes to New Orleans.
01:00:33 >> Jack and I, by the way, going to Vegas for the tournament games.
01:00:36 So we're gonna plant the seed now.
01:00:38 >> [LAUGH] >> If the Celtics get to the quarterfinals,
01:00:41 we're going to have to do a stream for the game, because there's going to be stakes
01:00:44 for us, because essentially, if they go, then we're gonna be there, and
01:00:47 it's gonna be awesome.
01:00:47 We'll probably get to do content, we'll probably do content anyways.
01:00:50 But it's gonna be like essentially Jack and I made like X amount of dollars bet,
01:00:54 however much we have to spend to get there.
01:00:56 >> [LAUGH] >> And we're gonna see if it pays off or
01:00:58 not.
01:00:59 So just stay tuned on that, if you listen this far, a little nugget for you.
01:01:02 We're gonna definitely talk about it more.
01:01:03 >> [LAUGH] >> But yeah,
01:01:04 the Pelicans are a team that should be competitive.
01:01:08 I mean, this is just another nugget of the Western Conference being
01:01:13 kind of a bloodbath this year.
01:01:15 You have Denver, Phoenix went all in,
01:01:19 a healthy Pelicans team could be competitive.
01:01:21 Dallas had a good summer.
01:01:22 Sacramento is poised to build off what they did last year.
01:01:26 The Warriors got CP3, we'll see how that goes.
01:01:28 The Lakers probably solidified the rest of the rotation.
01:01:32 Who knows how good the top will be again this year?
01:01:35 Or if they're going to, cuz it felt like they were a bit lightning in a bottle at
01:01:38 the end of the last year.
01:01:38 If the Clippers are healthy, how good can they be?
01:01:42 OKC is poised to take a jump.
01:01:44 I mean, just keep going down the list.
01:01:46 Utah's probably out of it, Portland's out of it.
01:01:49 Minnesota, is Ant gonna be good?
01:01:51 >> Well, I mean, you look at the NBA standings, right?
01:01:55 >> Memphis?
01:01:55 I didn't even mention Memphis.
01:01:56 >> Look at the NBA standings.
01:01:58 I'm gonna read you these teams.
01:02:00 Nuggets, Grizzlies, Kings, Suns, Clippers, Warriors, Lakers,
01:02:04 Timberwolves, Thunder, Pelicans, Mavericks.
01:02:07 I just named 11 teams.
01:02:08 >> Did any team get worse?
01:02:09 >> I just named 11 teams.
01:02:10 Only eight of them can make the playoffs.
01:02:12 [LAUGH] >> Get ready for expansion, buddy.
01:02:16 >> And that's without even mentioning, and
01:02:17 I know they're probably not gonna be great, but the Jazz are fine.
01:02:20 They'll be okay.
01:02:21 The Rockets are trying to win.
01:02:23 So this isn't even mentioning the teams on the fringe.
01:02:26 Those 11 teams, only eight can make the playoffs.
01:02:29 And out of them, it's probably gonna be the Timberwolves are probably the first
01:02:33 cut you make, and then maybe the Thunder, but they're gonna be nasty, right?
01:02:36 Shea's great, and then probably the Pelicans or Mavericks, but even them,
01:02:39 they got all NBA players leading the way.
01:02:41 >> Maybe when they do the expansion draft, they need to do four teams.
01:02:44 >> Yeah, maybe.
01:02:46 >> The league is so good now where, all right, one, create jobs, right?
01:02:51 The American dream, create jobs.
01:02:53 But seriously, we just list off 11 teams that can make the playoffs because
01:02:58 that the league is so deep.
01:03:00 Like, just don't draft guys off the Celtics.
01:03:03 >> [LAUGH] Yeah, maybe don't, maybe chill with that.
01:03:07 Yeah, I don't know, I'm excited.
01:03:08 I'm happy- >> Or draft, do the expansion after this
01:03:10 year.
01:03:11 Draft all the best players, and then the Celtics can tank.
01:03:15 >> Get Cooper Flag.
01:03:16 >> Yeah.
01:03:16 >> Yeah, no, good to hear Zion excited about playing with those guys.
01:03:20 I just thought that was fun.
01:03:20 >> Get to play in a super cool new court.
01:03:23 >> Yes, yes, and there's our segue.
01:03:25 Thank you, Sam.
01:03:25 Pelicans released a new court.
01:03:27 And Sam was very upset because he thought it was gonna be an extra court, but
01:03:31 I think it's just- >> I'm kinda sick of the court designs.
01:03:34 Like Milwaukee, Milwaukee had that blue court that they used for
01:03:38 half the season, and they have another court.
01:03:41 Yeah, you have one court, you have one court.
01:03:43 You don't need multiple court designs.
01:03:45 You should have one jersey you wear at home.
01:03:48 So anyways, the Pelicans put a bunch of city-based designs on the border of
01:03:54 their court, Jack likes it.
01:03:56 I mean, I think it's fine.
01:03:57 And they made this video, and I was listening to music when I watched it, and
01:04:01 I didn't hear the audio on it.
01:04:03 And I was like, damn, this really vibes with the music I'm listening to.
01:04:07 >> [LAUGH] No, it's cool.
01:04:10 I mean, it looks like it's gonna be their main court.
01:04:12 This is gonna be the only court they have, which makes it a little better, so
01:04:15 it's not changing every time.
01:04:17 >> So Pelicans, one of two this offseason.
01:04:19 The jerseys they drop suck.
01:04:21 >> Yeah, you got the bird in the middle of the court.
01:04:23 >> They need to change this.
01:04:25 They need to do a purple, green, yellow color scheme like that.
01:04:30 Mardi Gras color scheme that they have the alternates for
01:04:33 needs to be there to fire.
01:04:35 >> I agree.
01:04:36 It's more unique, better than this boring thing.
01:04:38 >> None of these colors are good.
01:04:40 >> No, just like I think the Nuggets need to change from their current color scheme
01:04:43 back to the rainbow with the blue and yellow.
01:04:46 Agreed.
01:04:47 >> Agreed, but the powder blue with the gold looks better than that.
01:04:50 >> I agree, I like those as well.
01:04:52 But speaking of jerseys, the Hornets,
01:04:56 the latest in a string of these jerseys rule, good job Hornets.
01:05:00 Hornets released their new city jerseys, and
01:05:03 it's basically just their, it's like their retro jerseys, I should say.
01:05:06 >> 35 years.
01:05:08 >> Mm-hm, it's a throwback to the Del Curry era, I believe,
01:05:12 with the pinstripes.
01:05:14 >> Essentially the first team they ever had.
01:05:16 >> Yeah, I'll put it on the screen if you're watching on YouTube.
01:05:19 But basically it's just the teal jerseys with the three green, purple, and
01:05:24 light blue pinstripes.
01:05:25 >> Those look good.
01:05:26 >> This is when they were bar rocking them.
01:05:27 Very cool, I enjoy.
01:05:28 I think- >> That should be their default jersey.
01:05:31 >> I agree. >> The actual jerseys kinda suck.
01:05:33 >> Yes, I agree.
01:05:35 >> They should do a Bobcats jersey, how fun would that be?
01:05:37 >> Someone's saying they should bring back the cats, I think it's cool.
01:05:40 But yeah, good for the Hornets, they brought back cool jerseys and yeah,
01:05:44 W, W Hornets.
01:05:46 Let's see, do we have any other stuff?
01:05:48 And I believe the last thing we have for today, Sam,
01:05:50 is your Reddit post of the day.
01:05:52 >> Yes. >> So hit me with what you got.
01:05:54 >> This is a quick one, we'll kinda go back and forth, then we'll move on.
01:05:57 Reddit post of the day on the NBA community via user, Nam67.
01:06:03 What NBA star gets traded next?
01:06:05 Context, we are all very aware of Damon Harden trade requests.
01:06:09 But obviously, there is no traction on the actual deals despite months of chatter.
01:06:14 This was relatively a slow off season as far as blockbuster trades go.
01:06:19 But we saw big names like CP3 and Beal get shipped off somewhat unexpectedly.
01:06:24 Who do you think will be the next NBA star to get traded,
01:06:26 not talking quote unquote requests, but actually be traded?
01:06:31 My guess has to be one of the Clippers stars, Kawhi or Paul George.
01:06:35 I just can't fathom how they can continue to try and
01:06:37 compete with their best players right in the pine most of the year.
01:06:39 The Clippers definitely have work to do cuz they have no draft picks.
01:06:44 And they haven't really been as successful as they'd hoped since 2020.
01:06:49 >> Yeah. >> A quick mental sift flip through all
01:06:53 the teams.
01:06:54 I would say a reasonable expectation actually could be Zion, but
01:07:00 that would probably come at request.
01:07:01 I think somebody like.
01:07:05 >> If I had to pick, I'd say Karl Anthony Towns.
01:07:09 I think Kat gets traded.
01:07:10 >> Yeah, okay.
01:07:12 Apparently in the east, is there anybody that's kind of due?
01:07:15 Well, I guess it'd be.
01:07:16 >> Indeed, yeah, that might be the big one.
01:07:19 >> One of those Atlanta guards.
01:07:21 Low key, I think one of the Atlanta guards is going.
01:07:23 Cuz it doesn't make sense.
01:07:24 They both are better with the ball in their hands.
01:07:26 >> Siakam?
01:07:28 Siakam gets traded?
01:07:29 >> Well, he doesn't wanna leave.
01:07:30 >> Oddly enough.
01:07:31 >> I know, but still, you'd think they'd probably trade him regardless.
01:07:35 Chicago, do they finally do something?
01:07:38 >> Maybe.
01:07:39 >> Eventually, they gotta.
01:07:41 They gotta.
01:07:42 I don't know. >> I'm gonna say, I don't have the link.
01:07:45 >> That's a low key.
01:07:48 They're not gonna do it right away.
01:07:49 But if they continue down this road with how much the other teams are improving,
01:07:55 you have to imagine the Hornets are forced to trade the Mellow at some point, right?
01:08:00 >> I think they have a little window here to see how things pan out,
01:08:03 cuz they just drafted Brandon Miller.
01:08:05 >> I agree, but I don't think it's gonna pan out.
01:08:07 Who are they gonna make the playoffs over in the next five years?
01:08:10 >> Well. >> Realistically.
01:08:12 >> In the next five years?
01:08:14 >> The Magic, the Pacers, the Pistons,
01:08:15 they're not gonna be better than any of those teams in the next five years.
01:08:17 >> No, but they may end up being better than Philly.
01:08:21 >> Fine, given that.
01:08:23 >> Let's just say- >> Magic, Pacers, Pistons, Bucks, Celtics,
01:08:26 Cavs, Knicks, even the Hawks- >> Are the Bucks gonna be good forever?
01:08:29 Isn't Giannis' deal up after next year, and
01:08:31 then Middleton and Lopez are getting old, so is Holiday.
01:08:34 >> I don't care, if Giannis is there, they're gonna be better than the Hornets.
01:08:37 >> Well, he might not be there.
01:08:39 >> I think he will be, I don't think he'll leave Milwaukee, I think he's a lifer.
01:08:42 >> I hope he is, I think it's a respectable thing, but that's not guaranteed.
01:08:46 The Bucks' future is not solidified, they'll be better than Toronto.
01:08:50 >> I think the Hornets have the worst future in the East, and
01:08:53 that's including the Wizards.
01:08:54 >> I can see that.
01:08:58 >> I just don't, actually, no, I lied, sorry, that was too harsh.
01:09:00 Better future than the Bulls.
01:09:01 [LAUGH] >> Yes, Bulls, yeah.
01:09:05 >> Better future than probably the Raptors, Scotty Barnes.
01:09:08 >> I think so.
01:09:10 >> Better future, they're probably better than the Wizards,
01:09:12 I'm being a bit dramatic.
01:09:14 But past that, Philly, maybe is their future.
01:09:17 >> Let's see what the top replies are from the post.
01:09:19 >> I don't know, I think Carl- >> Someone said Cat.
01:09:22 >> Yeah.
01:09:23 >> That's probably, that's the top up vote getting one.
01:09:26 >> I think that's the best one.
01:09:27 >> Again, Raptors.
01:09:30 >> Yep, it's Yakim.
01:09:31 >> Bulls bring up their core.
01:09:33 Chris Middleton or Drew Holiday, that's actually not the dumbest take ever.
01:09:38 Cuz I just talked about those guys are getting old,
01:09:40 still have a little bit of value.
01:09:42 But Milwaukee's not trading either one of them, especially not Holiday,
01:09:46 unless you're getting something worthwhile back.
01:09:48 I can't think of any team that would wanna trade for
01:09:50 those guys that isn't desperate.
01:09:52 Meaning they don't really have anything to give up in return.
01:09:55 So unless some disaster happens in Milwaukee, it's not going to happen.
01:09:58 Someone said Brandon Ingram only has two years left in his contract.
01:10:02 Someone said I think Luka.
01:10:05 No.
01:10:06 >> [LAUGH] >> Mark Cuban said he'd rather get divorced.
01:10:10 >> It's true, it's interesting choice by Mark Cuban, I bet his wife loved that.
01:10:14 No, I don't know, I'd probably go Cat or Siakam.
01:10:16 I think those are the best two options.
01:10:17 All right, shall we go into the route list, Sam?
01:10:21 >> Yes.
01:10:23 >> You wanna leave this off or do you want me to go?
01:10:25 >> You can go, you have two written.
01:10:26 >> All right, I do.
01:10:28 >> Do that.
01:10:29 >> Actually, let's start off with an anti-rat list as I change math a rat here.
01:10:32 I wanna anti-rat list, we're on the wrong rat list, here we go.
01:10:36 We gotta get the background in too, here we go, don't worry about it.
01:10:39 I got it, I got it, I got it, we're here.
01:10:41 >> We made it. >> That was our rat list from the first
01:10:43 of the floor, took over the screen, that's fine.
01:10:45 Anti-rat list my mom, because as Sam mentioned, we are going to Las Vegas.
01:10:50 >> This is a great story.
01:10:51 And so I, for those who listen to this show probably know, I hate flying.
01:10:56 And I don't like change in general.
01:10:58 I am very content sitting in my room watching YouTube, hanging out, chilling,
01:11:01 vegging out, doing my work, and just chilling.
01:11:04 I like golfing, I like doing a few things, but
01:11:06 most of the time, sit here, do my work, it's fine.
01:11:09 So getting me to go on these vacations is hard, one, because I hate flying, and
01:11:13 two, cuz I love sleeping in my own bed and just staying home, big home.
01:11:17 So Sam texted me, update on Vegas.
01:11:19 He asked me for three days, and I would always go to respond, forget,
01:11:23 forget to talk to my family, and half of me was like, I don't know,
01:11:25 cuz I was internally deciding.
01:11:27 So figuring it out, finally text Sam back today.
01:11:30 And I'm like, I think I'm gonna pass, I don't like flying,
01:11:32 probably gonna save money, I'm not sure when I'm moving out.
01:11:34 >> No. >> Basically, making excuses.
01:11:36 >> At this point, I am in a work meeting, and
01:11:38 I'm like, I'm not gonna take my phone out to respond.
01:11:40 But I was like, okay, I'll be like, cuz I really just wanted you to not feel
01:11:44 like that. >> Did you see that?
01:11:45 Did you see that text when I was- >> No, I saw them.
01:11:47 I saw them as they came in.
01:11:49 >> Gotcha.
01:11:50 So I said that, and I was like, I don't know if I wanna go,
01:11:53 basically being a flake, effectively.
01:11:55 Not like that I was confirmed that I would go.
01:11:57 >> And then- >> I was like, I don't know.
01:11:59 >> Then I receive a text from Jack, and he's, actually, I'm gonna verbatim read it,
01:12:02 cuz I thought it was truly one of the funnier text exchanges.
01:12:04 >> Yeah, read it out, I texted this to Sam.
01:12:06 >> So this is my conversation with Jack.
01:12:08 I text him at 9 AM, I say, any update on Vegas?
01:12:12 Now, I don't expect a reply from Jack,
01:12:14 cuz he doesn't get up until the middle of the day.
01:12:15 >> [LAUGH] >> And then I check my phone,
01:12:18 I see he read it at 11 AM, so I was like, what the hell?
01:12:20 So it's 2.49, I'm like, sir.
01:12:22 He goes, sorry, I haven't talked to my mom, but
01:12:25 I'm probably leaning towards passing.
01:12:26 You go into detail, but then he goes, update,
01:12:30 my mom told me not to be a bitch and just go, so fuck it, I'm in.
01:12:33 >> [LAUGH] >> And that was the single greatest
01:12:37 text message I think I've ever received.
01:12:38 >> Yeah, so yeah, I called my mom.
01:12:42 I dropped Henry off at the dentist, and I was waiting for him to come out.
01:12:46 I called my mom, I'm like, yeah, Sam asked me to go to Vegas.
01:12:48 I don't really know if I wanna go, but maybe I should just stop being a bitch.
01:12:51 And she just goes, yeah, the second one.
01:12:52 I was like, what?
01:12:53 She's like, yeah, just go.
01:12:54 What are you doing?
01:12:54 I wish I could go to, I wish I went to Vegas when I was younger.
01:12:57 This sounds fun.
01:12:57 What's wrong with you?
01:12:59 And I said, I don't like flying.
01:13:00 And she goes, so get over it.
01:13:01 And I was like, all right, fuck it, fine.
01:13:03 I text Sam back, I'm like, yeah, I guess I'll go.
01:13:05 So it'll be fun.
01:13:06 >> All right, you're gonna have a blast.
01:13:07 >> Yeah, it'll be a good time.
01:13:08 So anti-rat list, my mom, she specifically told me, she goes,
01:13:12 don't fucking put me on the rat list anymore.
01:13:13 So this is an anti-rat list, just to make that clear.
01:13:15 So there we go, we're happy now.
01:13:19 >> All right, I will do rat list, the people that ride the motorized trikes.
01:13:25 Have you ever seen these cars,
01:13:28 like they have the two wheels in the front, the one in the back?
01:13:30 >> Yes.
01:13:32 >> Be an adult, four wheels.
01:13:36 You don't need to ride a trike anymore, you're not a toddler.
01:13:38 There was two of them when I was driving home today from basketball, and
01:13:41 they're just whizzing down the road.
01:13:43 And I live near the beach, so people come down with these things all the time.
01:13:48 I don't understand the appeal of these.
01:13:50 I don't think, I've never seen one and went, wow, that thing rules, I want one.
01:13:57 Yeah, I see old timey cars, and I'm like, wow, that's cool.
01:14:02 I don't even know what the market is for these things.
01:14:06 >> It's definitely- >> Either buy a motorcycle or don't.
01:14:10 >> Just pick one, right?
01:14:11 >> Yeah.
01:14:11 >> It's very weird, it's very weird.
01:14:14 I don't know, yeah, rat list those guys,
01:14:16 because they don't go fast enough to like, war it.
01:14:18 >> There used to be a guy that had a black one, and he would dress like Batman.
01:14:22 Swear to God.
01:14:23 He would ride around my neighborhood, like near the basketball court and
01:14:27 everything, and he would literally just have like that Batman mask on.
01:14:31 >> Quite the decision, it's quite the look.
01:14:33 I will go with, I have to tell the story, because I can't just rat list.
01:14:40 It's the dude in the bathroom when I was golfing, and
01:14:43 that's why I say it requires a story.
01:14:44 So I was at golf with my buddy Danny and two of his friends, and it was fun.
01:14:48 It's before the round, I head into the clubhouse, I'm like, all right,
01:14:50 let me pee before we get out there.
01:14:52 Go in, it was a single person bathroom, I knock, I see the lights on, but
01:14:56 I'm like, knock, knock, knock, don't hear anything.
01:14:58 I'm like, okay, whatever, let me open the door.
01:14:59 I open the door, it's open, so I'm like, okay, let me walk in.
01:15:01 Dude goes, whoa, I'm like, he goes, lucky for you, I got off the toilet.
01:15:05 And he was like laughing, he wasn't actually mad, but I'm like,
01:15:07 lock the fucking door, what are we doing?
01:15:10 Are you a child?
01:15:11 >> Maybe he wants someone to walk in, be like, sorry.
01:15:15 >> Rat list, lock the door, it's a single person bathroom that has a lock.
01:15:19 >> I don't know how you don't lock the door.
01:15:21 >> That's what I'm saying, also rat list people who use public bathrooms like
01:15:24 stalls and just pee with the door open.
01:15:27 Are you an animal?
01:15:28 I'm sorry, maybe this is me, do you see this anywhere?
01:15:30 Like at Celtics or Red Sox games or stuff, they just pee with the door open, and
01:15:33 I guess it's fine, because you can go to urinal too.
01:15:35 >> Why, they're not facing you.
01:15:36 >> I know, but if you are going to close the,
01:15:39 not even in the context that I don't like looking at it, but if you're going to go
01:15:43 to a stall. >> Is it like you get excited when you're
01:15:44 looking for a parking space and there's a motorcycle?
01:15:47 >> Yes, yes, exactly.
01:15:49 >> I can see that.
01:15:50 >> And also, the people who close the door but don't lock it, I have to look under
01:15:55 the stall for your fucking feet, just lock the door behind you if you're in a bathroom.
01:15:58 I don't care if it's the context of a stall or a single bathroom,
01:16:01 just avoid the awkwardness.
01:16:02 Take two seconds and be a human with a functioning fucking brain and
01:16:06 lock the door.
01:16:08 It just made no sense, it just was stupid.
01:16:10 Anyways, that pissed me off, yeah.
01:16:11 >> Rat List, the lady that blew the yield sign as, so
01:16:15 there's like two lanes to get onto the highway.
01:16:18 And I was in the one with no yield sign and she just blasts through.
01:16:22 Another situation, wish I had a tank.
01:16:27 Great time to teach a lesson.
01:16:29 Probably would have flipped her over and it would have been like, wow,
01:16:32 I probably shouldn't have blown that yield sign.
01:16:34 It's okay.
01:16:35 She definitely is not in the best of health and
01:16:37 probably won't live as long as me.
01:16:38 So who's really winning?
01:16:40 Did she get on the highway first?
01:16:41 Yes, might get in the casket first.
01:16:44 >> Wow, that's quite the take.
01:16:49 No, no, we'll leave it, that's all you.
01:16:52 I don't think I have much else more.
01:16:56 Rat List, the people at golf who played too slow.
01:16:58 >> You literally had two things on the sheet.
01:17:00 >> Yeah, I said both of these.
01:17:01 I didn't even, I forgot about this one.
01:17:02 Yes, I forgot.
01:17:03 I thought the other one, I thought I put the Vegas story on the sheet, but I didn't.
01:17:06 Rat List, Dunkin' seasonal flavors, just because it's stupid.
01:17:09 Just have all the flavors, just have them all.
01:17:11 I think it's dumb.
01:17:12 I mean, I'm not complaining.
01:17:13 I like pumpkin spice is my thing.
01:17:15 I'm a big fan of pumpkin spice flavor.
01:17:16 I don't know if you've had the, it's called nutty pumpkin, which sounds weird.
01:17:21 >> I've seen it.
01:17:22 I do not get the flavor coffees from Dunkin'.
01:17:24 I get the unsweetened ones.
01:17:25 Too many calories.
01:17:26 They combine hazelnut and pumpkin, and it's very good.
01:17:29 And that's what I've been getting lately.
01:17:30 I think I have two on my desk right now that I finished that I need to throw away.
01:17:33 Very good. >> You remember when they had the peanut
01:17:34 butter flavor last fall?
01:17:36 >> Mm-hm.
01:17:36 >> And the coffee was fucking orange.
01:17:39 >> Yeah, it was not good.
01:17:40 >> You would get the coffee, and it was the color of a Reese's wrapper.
01:17:44 >> It was gross. >> It's like, I'm not taking years off
01:17:46 my life.
01:17:46 >> I don't understand.
01:17:49 Do they, they must have a marketing team that weighs it.
01:17:52 They probably make more money cuz people are excited for it.
01:17:54 But you'd think they'd make- >> That's what it is.
01:17:56 >> But you'd think they'd make just as much or
01:17:58 more if people could just have it all year round.
01:17:59 Because there's gotta be some people who are like, I'll just get pumpkin.
01:18:02 I like it, they have it, let's just get pumpkin.
01:18:04 But I don't know, I just have all the fucking flavors.
01:18:06 I think that's a wrap.
01:18:07 >> See, I like when the coffee flavor is brewed into the coffee.
01:18:10 I don't like the shots.
01:18:11 I don't want them to put syrup in my coffee, cuz it's not really good.
01:18:15 But if they bake it into the beans or whatever.
01:18:18 >> I know what you mean.
01:18:19 I know what you mean. >> It doesn't add any calories.
01:18:21 It's not worse for you, and it's still just as good.
01:18:23 You just put the sweeteners in, it's awesome.
01:18:25 Nothing beats it.
01:18:26 I personally saw the maple sugar bacon sandwiches back.
01:18:33 Let me tell you.
01:18:34 >> Is that what you like?
01:18:35 >> I may have to break my routine to enjoy that, because I'm a fan.
01:18:39 I loved it last year.
01:18:41 Yep, they got me, they got me.
01:18:44 I might have to go get it.
01:18:46 >> Do you know what I'm gonna get to, Duncan?
01:18:48 I might get made fun of.
01:18:50 The avocado toast at Duncan, actually good.
01:18:53 >> See, I don't think that's filling enough.
01:18:55 >> I get two, I got two.
01:18:56 And I got the one with bacon on top, so there was a little extra thing.
01:18:59 >> But even then, you could have two chicken sandwiches from Chick-fil-A,
01:19:04 probably, for similar calories.
01:19:07 >> See, this is the difference.
01:19:08 I don't fucking care about the calories.
01:19:09 I'm not counting them.
01:19:11 >> You'd be more satisfied.
01:19:14 >> They're good.
01:19:14 No, I enjoyed it.
01:19:15 I enjoyed that.
01:19:15 I ate that in my coffee, and I was happy, and I was chilling, and then I had dinner.
01:19:19 >> I know.
01:19:20 I know, chat, rat list me, because I know when the guy's like, hey,
01:19:25 this is how many calories are in the thing you're eating, it's never fun.
01:19:29 I ruined these snacks for my girlfriend.
01:19:31 She was like, Costco has these, whatever, granola clusters.
01:19:36 I love them.
01:19:37 It's my favorite snack.
01:19:38 And I looked in the bag.
01:19:39 I'm like, you know every time you eat one of these, it's 100 calories?
01:19:42 And she doesn't eat them anymore.
01:19:45 >> Rat list, yes, absolutely.
01:19:46 >> No, I know, I'm a scumbag, piece of shit.
01:19:49 >> Like ruining food for people.
01:19:51 >> We were at Mohegan Sun, and we got Chick-fil-A.
01:19:54 We just got a couple sandwiches.
01:19:55 Sam was like, I can house another one.
01:19:57 I'm like, just get another one.
01:19:58 He's like, no, I'm out of calories.
01:19:59 >> I'm at my limit.
01:20:00 Yeah, I was at my limit.
01:20:01 I just slammed back a donut.
01:20:03 You have to weigh these things.
01:20:05 >> I know, chat has told me before, I'm not in shape.
01:20:09 I'm a bit overweight.
01:20:09 It's fine.
01:20:10 >> The best thing is when you know and you're in control of, okay, I can have this,
01:20:16 I can have this.
01:20:16 So you're like, I have calories left.
01:20:19 I have 1,000 calories.
01:20:20 I'm gonna eat a whole pizookie by myself cuz I can.
01:20:23 >> I would rather be fat and happy than counting calories.
01:20:27 And that- >> I am happy.
01:20:29 >> And I know, and I'm happy for you.
01:20:30 >> I'm thrilled.
01:20:31 >> I know, and that's amazing.
01:20:33 If I had to count calories, I would not be happy.
01:20:34 I like food.
01:20:35 >> You would adjust to it.
01:20:36 It's not easy at first.
01:20:37 >> Don't care, I'm out.
01:20:38 I don't care.
01:20:39 I'm happy with the way that I get to eat whatever I want and not give a shit.
01:20:42 And I blissfully don't care.
01:20:45 So that's the way I'm gonna continue to be.
01:20:47 I move slowly at basketball, but I get up and down the court.
01:20:50 Actually, we played basketball, Rattlers, the gym we play in.
01:20:55 Yeah, Rattlers, my glasses won for breaking.
01:20:57 But Rattlers, the gym we play in, because every time I thought I would make a shot,
01:21:01 it was just a fucking ceiling.
01:21:02 >> Last week at the gym, by the way.
01:21:03 So we are back at the other one.
01:21:05 >> All right, no, I couldn't, I'm Rattlers myself, I couldn't make a shot.
01:21:08 But when I can't make a shot, and we've talked about this before,
01:21:12 a lot of people just cherry pick on offense cuz they can't run.
01:21:15 I do the opposite.
01:21:16 I know I'm not running up with these motherfuckers.
01:21:18 I know, I can't run with these guys on offense.
01:21:20 So I let Sam and my teammates run, and I just stay back in defense.
01:21:24 And in my defense, I stopped a few fast breaks.
01:21:26 >> No, you didn't.
01:21:27 >> I got back there and I played- >> The best part of the night was your
01:21:29 glass had been broken, so you're playing blind.
01:21:31 And you throw a great bounce pass to me on the break, and
01:21:35 you didn't even mean to throw it to me.
01:21:36 You were like- >> To win the game.
01:21:37 >> Yeah, that was not meant for you.
01:21:38 >> No, and no, I saw who I was supposed to, I was trying to pass it to Raul.
01:21:42 And I saw him, and then I saw the lane close, and I saw defenders there.
01:21:46 I was like, shit, I turned away.
01:21:47 And the last second I saw you sprint through and grab the pass and put it up.
01:21:51 So everyone came up to me after, awesome pass, and I'm just sitting there.
01:21:54 I tell Sam, I said, Sam, that pass was not, that wasn't for you.
01:21:57 >> Yeah. >> No, it was good though.
01:21:58 That was a good game.
01:21:59 Those are good runs.
01:22:01 But yeah, that's all I got for the Rattles.
01:22:03 You got anything else or are we about done with the Rattles for today?
01:22:08 >> We're all done.
01:22:09 >> All right. >> All done.
01:22:10 I'm very hungry.
