00:00:00 [These guys are ridiculous! These guys are ridiculous!]
00:00:07 [Now, how about them damn Celtics!]
00:00:10 And we are back with another episode of How 'Bout Them Celtics.
00:00:13 Sam and I are here recording on Monday, November 27th, in between Celtics games.
00:00:18 Last night, Celtics took down the Hawks.
00:00:20 We put out a recap at 5am this morning as we're recording this, and yesterday as you guys are listening to this.
00:00:25 So go check that out if you want our thoughts on the Hawks game.
00:00:27 And tonight, as this is releasing, the Celtics will take on the Chicago Bulls in their final game of the in-season tournament.
00:00:34 We will go over some of the scenarios that we'll see if the Celtics can advance a little bit later on in the show.
00:00:39 But, before we do anything, because we got to at this point, let's see who's winning some popcorn today in Pompanito!
00:00:49 [Oh, whew! Hey, a thought. We should put the email on this graphic, because people asked for the email.]
00:00:59 People were asking. I can do that.
00:01:01 [It's hptcpod@gmail.com]
00:01:05 I will add it to the graphics, either throughout the course of the show, and you'll see it change live, and/or just when we finish.
00:01:13 But that is smart. We will put the email somewhere on the screen, probably down next to where all the socials are.
00:01:19 So, yeah, let's spin the wheel. Nine entrants today, also.
00:01:23 We got to talk about something quick.
00:01:26 Joey's spatula is on a cool-down period. Under investigation, if we cheat... No.
00:01:32 We're going to implement a one-week and/or three-pod cycle of how often you can win.
00:01:44 Win and then re-enter.
00:01:46 Exactly. Just so we don't have the same winners, which is why you see Jenny from Japan on after they won earlier in the season.
00:01:52 RJ, by the way, this is your third episode, so you will be re-entered on the wheel next time, if you once again comment what's poppin'.
00:01:59 But this is the final pod of RJ's cool-down period, and Joey's spatula, this is the first of your three cool-down periods.
00:02:07 I apologize, Joey's spatula. The back-to-back two-time will have to wait.
00:02:13 I saw the comment and enjoyed it, but we just want to make it fair for everybody.
00:02:17 To think that he's going to use his popcorn for evil and flex on the kids that he was serving with the food truck.
00:02:25 Tell me, I want you to look at me with a straight face, Sam, and tell me you don't respect that.
00:02:29 No, I love that.
00:02:31 Yeah, I knew it!
00:02:33 I think I even commented and was like, "This is awesome."
00:02:35 Even though I think my comments don't go through sometimes, because I try and respond to people and say what the email is.
00:02:40 Am I banned from our fucking comments?
00:02:43 Would be kind of funny if you were. I don't think so?
00:02:46 I've seen you comment before.
00:02:48 Yeah.
00:02:49 I haven't seen it in a while, but...
00:02:51 I don't think I would have made a comment on the pregame yesterday if I was banned, actually.
00:02:55 Yeah, I agree. I'm not sure.
00:02:57 But anyways, let's spin the wheel finally, now that we've filibustered here.
00:03:01 And let's see who's winning some in-popular popcorn today.
00:03:04 Who gets a $20 discount?
00:03:06 The wheel always just dunks on Jack's audio, for whatever reason.
00:03:10 Our first ever two-time winner.
00:03:12 Wow.
00:03:13 Wow.
00:03:14 That two-time.
00:03:16 Jenny from Japan, we will be in contact.
00:03:19 Two in a row, we have talking about the potential winner before the winner.
00:03:24 And now we have talking about no two-time winners just to go to a two-time winner.
00:03:29 You guys see us spin the wheel.
00:03:31 There's no way we can possibly rig this wheel.
00:03:34 So, yeah, Jenny from Japan, comment.
00:03:37 We'll get you back in for your second chance, or your second $10 gift card.
00:03:42 Let us know what flavor you got the first time.
00:03:44 Yes, please.
00:03:46 And comment what's popping on this video for everybody, if you would like a chance to win, I mean, objectively, some great popcorn.
00:03:54 And it's a great product.
00:03:55 We wouldn't promote the product if you wouldn't like it.
00:03:57 I know Sam was eating some before we got on here.
00:03:59 I sure was.
00:04:00 It's great.
00:04:01 I got mine.
00:04:02 Shout out.
00:04:03 It's a storm flavor.
00:04:04 It's peanut butter chocolate.
00:04:05 It doesn't miss.
00:04:06 The ones Jack and I got come in these little Capri Sun pouches.
00:04:10 They're nice.
00:04:11 Your bags will look more like this.
00:04:13 Yes.
00:04:15 Big, big bag.
00:04:16 This is probably what your gift card will get you.
00:04:19 Yes, sir.
00:04:20 Solid size, 10 ounces.
00:04:22 I'm going to filibuster for one more second here because my mouse decided to stop scrolling.
00:04:26 You lost your mouse?
00:04:27 No, it just.
00:04:28 So sometimes I get a mouse trap.
00:04:31 No, I got to unplug the USB and plug it back in, and then it usually just starts working again.
00:04:36 I was left useless for a moment there because I couldn't change the background, nor could I do anything.
00:04:42 So we are going to move on to actual Celtics news.
00:04:46 Now that we got all that out of the way.
00:04:49 First thing we got is Kristaps Porzingis injury update.
00:04:52 So this was talked about a little bit, I think, before the game against Atlanta on Sunday.
00:05:00 And Joe Mizzou followed up with an update at practice today saying Kristaps Porzingis will be re-evaluated in one week's time.
00:05:11 Kristaps Porzingis, the day of his injury, the day after, posted something to Instagram saying, you know, got good news today.
00:05:18 I'll be back soon.
00:05:19 So it seems from that update that it's not as bad as some people feared.
00:05:25 Joe at practice today said, actually, so Joe said it's more.
00:05:30 I'm trying to think the best way to phrase this because the way he phrased it was weird.
00:05:33 He said it's not just a caution thing.
00:05:36 So basically, I think it was Bobby Manning, friend of the pod, asked, is this just you guys being cautious?
00:05:41 And he said, it's a little bit more than us just being cautious.
00:05:44 However, we are playing a player.
00:05:46 It's going to be based on a lot on how he feels.
00:05:51 And yeah, that they're just going to go about it that way.
00:05:54 So it doesn't seem like something that he's not hurt and they're just being careful to not let him get hurt.
00:05:59 It does seem like there is something wrong.
00:06:02 But from everything we're hearing coming out of the Celtics, it's not as bad as it could have been, nor is it too bad in general, which is good.
00:06:09 Yeah, I saw the video for the first time of him getting hurt during yesterday's broadcast.
00:06:15 You can see he's just running and he kind of comes up a little bit gimpy and then he has to come out of the game.
00:06:20 So definitely better than it could be as a noncontact, but not ideal.
00:06:25 He's playing really well to start the season.
00:06:27 Team was playing well with him, and now you got to play your final in-season tournament game, which is actually kind of important where you need to win by a fuck ton of points if you want to try and win the group without him.
00:06:40 And he's a big part of your offense.
00:06:41 He's a big part of your late game offense.
00:06:44 It sucks to lose him.
00:06:46 The Celtics offense, by the way, has not been very good as of late.
00:06:50 I forget.
00:06:51 What is it over the last?
00:06:53 Let me look.
00:06:54 How many games Greeney had today if you're looking?
00:06:58 No, I looked at it recently.
00:07:00 I think over the last five games, they had the 27th best offense, so the fourth worst in the league over the over the everyone's last five games.
00:07:10 108.9 offensive rating.
00:07:12 That said, I think last game it was definitely better, obviously, at least a little bit.
00:07:18 Actually, even then it wasn't great.
00:07:20 It was still 15th because they didn't shoot the ball particularly well.
00:07:22 And over the last ten games, they have the where it's probably middle of the pack.
00:07:28 12 offense real close.
00:07:33 Actually tied with 11th 115.5.
00:07:37 So I'll give it to you.
00:07:38 So not great.
00:07:40 Yeah.
00:07:41 That said, over the last ten games, they have the fourth best defense over the last five games.
00:07:46 They have the eighth best defense.
00:07:49 So the defense is staying around that top ten level that everyone expects it to be exactly.
00:07:54 And on the season, for what it's worth, the Celtics offense is still eighth and the defense is fourth in the NBA.
00:08:00 So they are still both top.
00:08:02 They are still top ten in both those categories.
00:08:04 They are still first in that rating.
00:08:06 Why do you think what the offense is slowed down?
00:08:11 I think a part of it definitely is.
00:08:13 Drew's been out for a couple of games.
00:08:15 Derek's missed a couple of games.
00:08:17 KP's obviously missed, what, two in a row now?
00:08:19 No, just one.
00:08:21 Well, one and a half.
00:08:22 So I think that plays a small part of it.
00:08:25 And I think for what -- not for whatever reason.
00:08:29 Like you kind of understand why, but you don't want it to be like that.
00:08:32 I think with some guys being out, the Jays sort of take it upon themselves to do more or try to press or try to be the ball-dominant guys that they have been in the past.
00:08:43 And I think instead of that, you just have to have them -- obviously they're going to have to score more and look for their shots, but I think it's the way they get their shots differs because you don't have the same guys running the offense, setting it up.
00:08:55 Where it's like, you know, Horford gets more minutes instead of Porzingis and he can't do the same things offensively.
00:09:00 Or Pritchard gets more minutes instead of Drew and he doesn't do the same things.
00:09:03 So I think it's just finding ways to play the same offense even when guys are out.
00:09:10 And then outside of that, when everybody is healthy, I think when you get into these up-by-a-lot scenarios, you see them either -- not necessarily take their foot off the gas in terms of effort, but the execution just kind of slips a little bit because they're in the mindset of we're up.
00:09:28 And so I think those combine -- because they have gone up by double digits in most of these games.
00:09:32 It's just they've blown them because I think it is because the offense slips like that.
00:09:37 So a combination of both those things, if that makes sense.
00:09:40 They love a blown lead.
00:09:41 That they do.
00:09:43 But Porzingis being out for another week is definitely not going to help and they have to find a way to adjust without him because he's inevitably going to miss time.
00:09:51 We kind of knew he was going to miss time.
00:09:53 What did we set?
00:09:54 We set it at like 60 games and we'd be happy.
00:09:56 So he's played them all so far outside of a couple mixed in there.
00:09:59 Looks like he's going to be out about a week.
00:10:01 You've got to find ways to overcome that absence and not change your style of offense just because -- I mean obviously he's an important piece, but you can't completely change the way you play offense just because one guy's out.
00:10:11 I agree.
00:10:14 I think it sucks not to have him for the Philly game.
00:10:16 I think that's an important one.
00:10:18 And then you're going to have your quarterfinal game or your non-tournament game, whichever it's going to end up being, at the beginning of next week.
00:10:27 So about a week from when you listen to this, they'll be playing that.
00:10:29 And if they're still in the tournament, it would be kind of nice to have Porzingis.
00:10:34 You would get a good look at what he's going to look like in a real game, a competitive game, a meaningful game.
00:10:39 Instead, you're going to have to be without him.
00:10:42 He's been excellent.
00:10:43 And I personally really hate to see it because I think he's just given their offense a new wrinkle.
00:10:49 They've looked more under control at times with him.
00:10:52 He brings Jalen Brown to an extra level where he's seeing things, has a chemistry with somebody that is unmatched.
00:11:00 And I don't know how much I trust Tatum and Brown right now just to get it done together.
00:11:06 Because the second half of that Orlando game was ugly.
00:11:09 It was a lot of me ball, specifically from Jalen, unfortunately.
00:11:13 But Tatum didn't look great.
00:11:15 But I'm pretty sure he talked about it today that he's just now starting to not feel sick anymore.
00:11:20 So I believe that was a big part of why it may have looked like he had nothing to give them in Orlando.
00:11:29 But they kind of scared to see that.
00:11:32 Without Holiday and Porzingis, they looked like trash, to be honest.
00:11:37 I was not impressed at all.
00:11:39 I understand that the bench is seemingly thin, right?
00:11:43 They gave up a lot of depth in favor of bringing in these top-tier talent pieces like a Porzingis, a Drew Holiday.
00:11:49 You had to gut your bench.
00:11:50 You lose Rob, you lose Bryden, you lose Marcus Smart.
00:11:53 Those are all key contributors to your rotation last year, smart starter.
00:11:57 Brogdon and Rob off the bench.
00:12:00 Now you're trotting Sam Houser out there who's been pretty solid.
00:12:03 I think we're going to talk about that.
00:12:05 Peyton Pritchard's been up and down.
00:12:06 You really don't know who your other guy is besides Horford.
00:12:10 If you're only going to run eight, that's fine.
00:12:12 But if not, then you're going to have to dig deep.
00:12:15 Is it going to be Cornett? Is it Keita?
00:12:17 Is it one of the forwards?
00:12:19 I think Bantam got the start against Atlanta on Sunday, but I don't know.
00:12:23 Do they really like that that much?
00:12:25 He was fine.
00:12:26 I don't think he was terrible.
00:12:27 I don't think he hurt them.
00:12:29 Yeah, he's kind of there.
00:12:30 They're a guy short when somebody's out, which I guess is the whole--
00:12:34 they're short the guy that's injured.
00:12:36 But they could use some extra help for when guys need to take a day off.
00:12:40 I agree. I agree.
00:12:41 Also, just finishing with Porzingis here, his three-point shot has dipped a lot.
00:12:47 He hasn't-- he wasn't making his threes.
00:12:49 He's now down to 32.4% on the season.
00:12:52 He's been struggling mightily over his last-- what is this?
00:12:56 Toronto, Memphis, Charlotte, Milwaukee, Orlando.
00:12:58 So the last five games, including the one where he went out.
00:13:00 He's shooting-- let's do quick maths here.
00:13:03 Excuse me. 14 plus 11 is 25.
00:13:07 He's three for 25.
00:13:09 Pretty good.
00:13:10 Three's, yeah.
00:13:11 So not great there.
00:13:12 He's better than Grant when Grant was 0 of 25 to start his career.
00:13:17 It's true.
00:13:18 That said, he is shooting a by far career high 70.5% on two-pointers.
00:13:24 Kind of crazy.
00:13:26 We did the whole video about his touch inside, how he's getting a lot of dunks,
00:13:31 how effective he's been in the paint, and the stats back it up there.
00:13:36 Career high and two-point percentage.
00:13:38 It's a huge thing.
00:13:39 The Celtics need to be able to make their twos when they take them.
00:13:41 I know that's a big point of contention nowadays with should they be taking
00:13:45 more threes, should they get more twos?
00:13:47 If you're getting twos, does it cause you to rely on that too heavily
00:13:51 and then you don't know what to do when the layups stop coming like we saw
00:13:54 in the Nets game last year when they blew the massive lead?
00:13:57 It's important to have somebody like Porzingis you can trust
00:14:00 to put the ball in the basket.
00:14:01 You can post him up.
00:14:02 Nobody can cover him.
00:14:03 He's too tall.
00:14:04 When he's inside the free throw line doing follow-aways,
00:14:07 I think it's going in every single time.
00:14:08 I trust him to make the bank shots in the paint.
00:14:11 He looks great.
00:14:12 If the threes start falling, it's an added bonus.
00:14:15 I still have complete faith in him to take those threes.
00:14:18 I do think some of them are kind of tough looks.
00:14:20 I think the ones off the pump fake in particular where he doesn't put the
00:14:23 ball back down is just an awkward motion.
00:14:26 Just thinking about doing that motion as somebody that occasionally plays
00:14:29 for fun, again, different than an NBA player,
00:14:33 but it doesn't feel like it's comfortable.
00:14:36 You see a lot of guys dribble to reset in between pump fakes like that
00:14:39 just to get their rhythm back.
00:14:41 Be curious to see if he continues that.
00:14:45 Yeah.
00:14:46 No, I agree.
00:14:48 Hopefully--
00:14:49 Of course, that's not the only reason he misses threes.
00:14:51 That's not what I'm saying, but it's just an interesting thing I've noticed.
00:14:53 All right, continue.
00:14:55 Yeah, hopefully he can get back on the court soon.
00:14:57 Celtics are better with him on.
00:14:58 Don't think that's a hot take.

00:15:40 Next thing we've got is relevant to tonight's game as you're listening to this.
00:15:47 In-season tournament scenarios.
00:15:49 So there are very specific ways the Celtics can advance in the
00:15:53 in-season tournament.
00:15:54 And to put it bluntly, they are confusing as hell.
00:15:57 It's very much a lot of information to be like thrown at you at once.
00:16:05 And so I'm going to do exactly that.
00:16:07 And then we're going to talk about it.
00:16:08 It's a little bit easier to comprehend.
00:16:10 So in order to advance, the Celtics need one of these four very complicated
00:16:16 things to happen.
00:16:18 I'm going to go slowly here.
00:16:20 First one, Boston wins.
00:16:23 Brooklyn wins, which creates a three-way tie.
00:16:26 And then they need to win on point differential, which means they would
00:16:30 have to beat the Bulls by at least 23 and hope the Nets don't beat the
00:16:36 Raptors by a certain amount as well.
00:16:38 So that is possible.
00:16:40 They would have to stomp the Bulls, which normally you'd say unlikely,
00:16:43 but the Bulls are awful.
00:16:45 So Bulls bad.
00:16:46 Very bad.
00:16:47 We'll talk about it later.
00:16:48 Bulls blew a 21-point lead last night.
00:16:50 Bad.
00:16:51 Sounds like a moving team, I know.
00:16:53 They allowed the most three-pointers in Bulls history.
00:16:56 The Nets had 25 threes.
00:16:59 Second scenario, Boston wins.
00:17:02 Brooklyn loses.
00:17:03 New York loses.
00:17:05 Miami loses.
00:17:06 Cleveland loses.
00:17:07 For those wondering, Knicks play Charlotte.
00:17:11 Yikes.
00:17:12 Cleveland plays Hawks.
00:17:13 Yikes.
00:17:14 Heat play Milwaukee.
00:17:16 Okay.
00:17:17 And Brooklyn plays Toronto.
00:17:19 That seems unlikely that all four of them lose, but possible.
00:17:21 Parlay.
00:17:23 Bet it.
00:17:24 Why not?
00:17:25 Celtics W parlay.
00:17:26 Celtics make the quarterfinal parlay.
00:17:28 I'm going to put that together while you talk and we're going to see what the odds are.
00:17:33 Okay.
00:17:34 Third scenario, Celtics win, finish second in the group,
00:17:39 and take the tiebreaker over any other team in the wildcard.
00:17:42 So that's a little bit more complicated.
00:17:44 They would have to win on point differential against any of the other teams that win.
00:17:48 In the sense that Celtics are at a zero point differential, that's going to be tough.
00:17:52 That 17 point loss to Orlando sucks.
00:17:54 Last one.
00:17:56 Cleveland loses.
00:17:58 New York loses.
00:18:00 Miami loses.
00:18:01 Brooklyn loses.
00:18:02 Boston wins tiebreaker over any other second place team.
00:18:05 I think that's the same as the second one.
00:18:07 I think that's the same scenario as the second one.
00:18:10 So basically, Celtics would have to win by a lot, and Brooklyn also wins to create a three-way tie.
00:18:17 And/or they need all the other teams that could potentially get the wildcard to lose.
00:18:23 Effectively.
00:18:24 Or they have the tiebreaker over those guys.
00:18:26 So it's a lot to watch for.
00:18:28 But yeah.
00:18:30 SportsCenter does not have odds on Miami, Milwaukee.
00:18:33 So I can't do it.
00:18:35 I can look it up here.
00:18:36 Without that, plus 2760.
00:18:39 Like 2760.
00:18:42 Wow. That's actually not bad.
00:18:44 2701.
00:18:46 Let's see.
00:18:49 Should I put 20 on the Celtics advance parlay?
00:18:52 In addition to that.
00:18:55 So those are the scenarios of the Celtics could advance.
00:18:58 Jason Tatum was asked about the in-season tournament last night.
00:19:01 He said he likes it.
00:19:03 He says he's a fan of it.
00:19:04 However, on the topic of point differential, he says, "The point differential thing I'm not the biggest fan of.
00:19:10 Last Friday there was a game already over and the guys were still trying to score.
00:19:13 It's about respecting to the game, respecting the game, and respecting your opponent."
00:19:17 So he said he's not a fan of that aspect.
00:19:19 But at the same time said he's a fan of the tournament so far.
00:19:22 So I don't know.
00:19:24 I like the point differential.
00:19:25 I think it adds a different wrinkle to the game.
00:19:28 I understand the respecting your opponent thing.
00:19:31 But it also made the end of the Magic game kind of interesting because you're like, "You actually should get some stops here.
00:19:37 Don't fuck yourself."
00:19:38 And they didn't listen.
00:19:39 So now they're fucked.
00:19:40 They're plus 600 to win the group if you're wondering because I did just look.
00:19:44 So it's more likely that Charlotte will beat New York tomorrow than Celtics will win the group.
00:19:50 Take that for what it's worth.
00:19:53 I like the points.
00:19:54 I think it's funny that Toronto and Chicago had that little beef where they were like, "What the hell?
00:19:59 Why are you running up the score?"
00:20:01 And Toronto was like, "In-season tournament."
00:20:03 And then they're both eliminated anyways so it doesn't matter.
00:20:07 I'm going to put $10 on the Celtics' advanced parlay.
00:20:10 So it is Hornets win, Hawks win, Bucks win, Raptors win, Celtics win.
00:20:17 Nets win.
00:20:19 Nets need to beat the Raptors?
00:20:20 Oh, I'm sorry.
00:20:21 Brooklyn lost.
00:20:22 Correct, correct.
00:20:23 My bad, my bad.
00:20:24 You're good.
00:20:25 $10 to win $666.
00:20:28 Okay.
00:20:29 Not the best sign.
00:20:30 Not a good sign at all.
00:20:32 Now what if you did --
00:20:34 It's too low.
00:20:35 Never mind.
00:20:36 We're there.
00:20:37 But yeah, we'll see what happens there.
00:20:39 Damn, Jack, if they make the quarterfinal, you're going to have some money for Vegas.
00:20:44 If they make it that way, yes I will.
00:20:47 Let us know what content you want.
00:20:50 Jack and I will be going to Vegas here next week.
00:20:52 Wow, can you believe that?
00:20:54 Next week.
00:20:55 God, I have to get on a plane.
00:20:56 Fuck.
00:20:57 What would you like to see from the trip?
00:20:59 Because we're going to go to the quarterfinal or the semifinal for the East.
00:21:02 I hope Halliburton's there at the very least.
00:21:04 Yeah, it would be fun.
00:21:06 We'll do other stuff.
00:21:07 We might go to a comedy show.
00:21:09 We might do other stuff.
00:21:10 We'll see.
00:21:11 We'll see.
00:21:12 What do you want to see?
00:21:13 What do you want from Vegas?
00:21:14 Let us know.
00:21:15 But yeah, those are the ways Celtics can advance in the end season tournament.
00:21:19 And the next thing we're talking about, Sam Hauser.
00:21:22 Sam Hauser's the next topic because --
00:21:24 Talked about the depth already.
00:21:26 Yeah, Sam Hauser's been --
00:21:28 The only one.
00:21:29 Very good.
00:21:31 Sam Hauser's putting together a career season.
00:21:34 He is averaging career highs across the board.
00:21:37 Still shooting very well from the field and from three.
00:21:40 And his defense is there.
00:21:41 He's averaging 9.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, .8 assists, 48.7% from the field, 44.8% from three.
00:21:48 And he's attempting 6.23s a night.
00:21:51 He's been one of the better role players in the NBA.
00:21:56 Hoops Hype puts together a list of --
00:21:59 Like you can track different player rankings, and you can see who's been the best off the bench, who's been the best in this, that.
00:22:08 He has been effectively the 23rd, I think, best bench player in the NBA, which doesn't sound great from their standards.
00:22:18 But considering everyone was like, "Oh, the Celtics bench is terrible.
00:22:20 They suck, blah, blah, blah."
00:22:22 Right.
00:22:23 Probably pretty good.
00:22:24 Probably pretty good so far this season.
00:22:28 I wonder.
00:22:29 I wonder if this is going to be --
00:22:30 It would be really funny if he won Sixth Man of the Year pretty much just by shooting a bunch of threes.
00:22:35 Because typically the Sixth Man of the Year is ball handler guy that comes in and creates shots.
00:22:41 Brogdon won last year, quickly was in the race.
00:22:44 Jamal Crawford, a famous Sixth Man of the Year guy.
00:22:46 Lou Williams.
00:22:48 Those are the type of guys that take home this award.
00:22:50 Very rarely is it somebody that's not that guy, not the just score at will guy.
00:22:56 The last one I remember is Montress Harrell.
00:23:02 I think that's the last example I got for you.
00:23:04 Which is also like another mold.
00:23:07 Scoring big man, Bobby Portis last year.
00:23:09 You know what I'm saying?
00:23:10 So that is another mold of guys like that.
00:23:13 I'm pulling up the list now.
00:23:15 Continue.
00:23:16 But yeah, Sam Hauser has been great this season.
00:23:19 Shooting the ball extremely well.
00:23:20 Everything he does is like a positive it feels like at this point.
00:23:25 He started off slow, but ever since then he's been red hot from three-point range.
00:23:31 I don't think you can get Sam Hauser Sixth Man of the Year odds.
00:23:35 It doesn't look like they have them at the moment, which is scam.
00:23:39 Last Sam Hauser type to win Sixth Man of the Year, Jack.
00:23:44 I'll give you a hint.
00:23:46 Started his career in Orlando, played with Miami for a bit, played in Memphis.
00:23:53 Shane Battier?
00:23:55 No, not Shane Battier.
00:23:57 What year was this?
00:23:58 2006.
00:24:00 Oh, six.
00:24:02 Man.
00:24:03 Mike Miller?
00:24:04 Mike Miller.
00:24:05 Mike Miller.
00:24:06 Yeah, Sam Hauser type.
00:24:08 J.R. Smith 2013.
00:24:10 But I feel like he's a bit different than Hauser.
00:24:12 Yeah, he's more scoring.
00:24:14 For sure.
00:24:16 For sure.
00:24:18 Yeah, no, I mean Sam Hauser's been awesome.
00:24:20 I just wanted to talk about it.
00:24:22 One of the things that we talked about it on the last pod, the way he's shooting the ball this year is so much different than last year too.
00:24:30 This isn't just, you know, he's still shooting the same shots.
00:24:35 He's still making the same shots.
00:24:37 He's getting more opportunities.
00:24:39 The way he's making these threes is different than last year.
00:24:44 Significantly so.
00:24:45 There were two examples from the Hawks game that I'll pull up because I think they are good examples of what I'm trying to convey here.
00:24:53 One of them is obviously the step back, which was, I mean, maybe a no, no, no, yes.
00:25:00 That sure was.
00:25:02 However.
00:25:04 Muted.
00:25:06 Okay, so I'll pull up the step back here.
00:25:10 This was the one I'm talking about for the YouTube listeners, viewers, I should say.
00:25:14 And for the audio listeners, I will break it down.
00:25:18 So this is it.
00:25:21 That's the wrong one.
00:25:22 Wait, why does that say?
00:25:24 No, because it was in quick succession.
00:25:26 Oh, he missed.
00:25:27 So Sam Hauser missed a three.
00:25:28 Derek White soars in for a rebound, kicks it back out to Sam Hauser in the corner, pump fakes, takes one dribble in, steps back and nails a three.
00:25:35 He had to make that shot, by the way, because this was two three point heaves with less than six seconds off the shot clock each time.
00:25:45 Yeah, but like the first time I was like, wait, wait, wait, and it doesn't go in and they're on the wrong end of a run here.
00:25:52 Like Atlanta has the game to single digits had to make that one.
00:25:56 Yeah.
00:25:57 The confidence Sam Hauser is playing with right now, though, is like next level.
00:26:00 He is fully in.
00:26:02 He is fully ready to contribute.
00:26:05 He's he's not missing all shots right now.
00:26:08 No, it is standing in the corner and I will make the shot.
00:26:12 This was the one that was more impressive to me, though.
00:26:15 So, again, for those listening, I know what shot this is.
00:26:18 You don't even have to play.
00:26:20 Pritchard gets the ball, kicks it to jail and who drives kicks it to the corner.
00:26:23 Sam Hauser gets the ball, doesn't even dip in his motion, and he just chucks it up and it's it.
00:26:29 Like I don't think people understand fully how difficult this is to do.
00:26:35 Sam Hauser gets the ball above his head, doesn't drop it and shoots it.
00:26:39 That's like that's like Clay Thompson.
00:26:42 Like there are very few players in the league who can do this.
00:26:45 Pat Conn is pretty good at it.
00:26:46 And outside of him and Sam Hauser now, it's great to do it a couple of times.
00:26:50 Great.
00:26:51 Did it a couple of times like catch above the head, shoot above the head.
00:26:54 That is not an easy thing to do.
00:26:56 And this shot hit the rim.
00:26:58 You watch this.
00:26:59 Never in doubt.
00:27:00 This was always going in.
00:27:01 This was all he started going away before it even went in.
00:27:04 He did.
00:27:05 He did a little bit of a curry.
00:27:06 He knew this was going in.
00:27:07 Let's see.
00:27:08 Let's see.
00:27:09 When does Sam Hauser start jogging away?
00:27:11 It has it's barely started the decline yet.
00:27:16 This is nuts, man.
00:27:17 He is he is shooting the ball on another level right now.
00:27:21 He is confident making plays.
00:27:23 I don't know if he had any direct assist last night, but there were a couple of
00:27:26 plays where he caught the ball three point line could have taken a shot, but
00:27:30 he drove in instead and made a play for his teammates, which is good.
00:27:34 Like he has gotten more comfortable in general within the offense, which
00:27:40 is huge for him because as a three three point guy, usually it's just, you
00:27:46 know, take your three years, go to the bench.
00:27:48 Like last year, last year it was take a three.
00:27:51 That's what you do.
00:27:52 This year playing a little bit better defense, protecting the rim better,
00:27:56 staying in front of guys, acting as a connector, driving closeouts, making
00:28:00 passes like he is becoming a more complete player before our eyes and
00:28:04 unfortunately going to make a lot of money on a sex contract.
00:28:08 Like he is going to be an expensive guy to retain for the Celtics.
00:28:12 Still got another year making nothing.
00:28:15 And you know what?
00:28:16 Not my money.
00:28:17 It's not my money.
00:28:18 Pay him.
00:28:19 Yeah.
00:28:20 How's there's been awesome.
00:28:22 Luke Hornet talked about him today too, saying he's happy for him.
00:28:25 Yeah.
00:28:26 How's there's a, he's been fun, been fun to watch.
00:28:29 Shout out.
00:28:30 How's there been good.
00:28:31 Next thing is the corner speaking to the man.
00:28:34 So I was at practice today and I was asking Luke Hornet, I said, you know,
00:28:40 your bench celebrations have been great this year.
00:28:42 What do you think about it?
00:28:43 And he smiled and he said, to be honest, I just get really excited about
00:28:49 certain guys making certain types of place.
00:28:51 And he followed that with Sam.
00:28:54 How's there's Duncan a lot, man.
00:28:56 He is doing a lot of dunks.
00:28:59 Yep.
00:29:00 He had the super cool.
00:29:01 You had a couple of dunks in other games.
00:29:04 Cornette set him up for a dunk.
00:29:06 He did.
00:29:07 He did.
00:29:08 But I figured we could do a VAR.
00:29:11 Let's take a look at some of Luke Hornet's best reactions off the bench.
00:29:17 Cause he's been super fun to watch.
00:29:21 He's having a good season, but his ability to create these viral bench
00:29:28 reactions have been very fun.
00:29:30 I wrote about it for Celtics blog.
00:29:32 If you want to see Luke Cornette's full thoughts on it, but let's go to the
00:29:35 monitor.
00:29:36 Let's check out some of these bench reactions here.
00:29:38 You should ask him where he ranks all time in bench reactions.
00:29:43 Yeah.
00:29:44 Well, I, my opener was the DN to the Russell era.
00:29:47 Brooklyn nets that at best, which is they did objectively, they were the
00:29:50 best, but we've got Luke.
00:29:52 Pinson, former Celtic.
00:29:54 It's just true.
00:29:55 It's going to make me switch tabs every time I want to watch a video,
00:29:58 which is very annoying.
00:29:59 We'll do it.
00:30:00 So here you go.
00:30:01 Here's the first one.
00:30:02 This is after this is preseason when Oh,
00:30:05 Shaper set to the super cool dunk crazy.
00:30:08 Luke Cornette's reaction.
00:30:11 He just gets so excited.
00:30:14 He just, he, he like can't control himself.
00:30:17 Yeah.
00:30:18 He does lose function over his body.
00:30:20 Like he's just kind of doing stuff.
00:30:22 So his quote on it was.
00:30:25 I'm just doing it.
00:30:27 Cause I'm having fun.
00:30:28 I guess it's probably, I'm a little large and I tend to cover a lot of
00:30:31 space when I'm celebrating.
00:30:32 So I don't know.
00:30:33 It's not really intentional, but yeah, I just get excited.
00:30:35 I'm just doing it.
00:30:36 Cause I'm having fun.
00:30:37 I guess it's probably, I'm a little large and I tend to cover a lot of
00:30:40 space when I'm celebrating.
00:30:41 So I don't know.
00:30:42 It's probably, I guess it's probably intentional, but yeah,
00:30:44 I just get excited.
00:30:45 Which the I'm a little large.
00:30:46 I tend to cover a lot of space when I'm celebrating is just all time.
00:30:48 Like that's great.
00:30:49 Great quote.
00:30:50 Great.
00:30:51 And it's just the truth.
00:30:52 The man, the man.
00:30:54 If he's taking steps.
00:30:56 He's moving further than you and I.
00:30:58 He's going places.
00:31:00 True.
00:31:01 It's why people think Giannis travels all the time.
00:31:03 Long, long strides.
00:31:06 Yep.
00:31:07 This was after Delano Bantons put back layup.
00:31:10 Here he is fist bumping, ready to go.
00:31:13 A little quiet one.
00:31:15 Well, I would hate to be on the receiving end of those fist bumps.
00:31:19 He'd knock you out.
00:31:20 Yeah.
00:31:21 Knock you right out.
00:31:22 Especially cause like your head's probably at fist level.
00:31:25 Here is after Sam Hauser's alley-oop slam.
00:31:30 The alley-oop was special.
00:31:32 It's tough quality right now, but I wonder if we can, you know,
00:31:35 get better quality here.
00:31:37 Twitter.
00:31:38 Come on.
00:31:39 You're asking a lot.
00:31:40 I know, man.
00:31:41 Okay, here we go.
00:31:42 Here is Luke Cornette after Sam Hauser's alley-oop.
00:31:47 You got to watch up here in the corner.
00:31:48 He gets hyped.
00:31:49 Look at him.
00:31:50 Yep.
00:31:51 Look at him.
00:31:53 Watch him jump around.
00:31:55 He jumps with Hauser on the loop.
00:31:57 And then he goes, oh.
00:32:00 It's like when Luca made that shot last year.
00:32:03 He missed a free throw and then did the, like,
00:32:05 he did a catch and shoot put back to tie the game against the Knicks.
00:32:09 And he just lost all function of his arms.
00:32:11 He was just flailing all around.
00:32:13 It's the same thing.
00:32:14 Look at Luke Cornette.
00:32:16 Look at Sam Hauser after he hits him with the ups.
00:32:22 I'd be so mad.
00:32:23 Did an alley-oop against my team.
00:32:25 Look at him.
00:32:26 He goes, yes, sir.
00:32:27 Yep.
00:32:28 There's another one.
00:32:31 This is a bad call.
00:32:34 Another one.
00:32:35 This is after Jalen Brown's windmill.
00:32:36 Watch Cornette's face in the corner.
00:32:38 Ready?
00:32:39 He'll come peeking out in a sec.
00:32:40 Wait for it.
00:32:41 Wait for it.
00:32:42 Mouth agape.
00:32:43 Nick Nurse.
00:32:44 Oh.
00:32:45 He was hyped.
00:32:47 He looks terrified.
00:32:48 I know, dude.
00:32:50 Look at this.
00:32:51 Look at the coach.
00:32:52 Do you have any other -- are there any others?
00:32:57 One sec.
00:32:58 No.
00:32:59 But I also had to point out, when he's on the court, also great at
00:33:03 celebrating.
00:33:04 Last year.
00:33:05 Dove celebration.
00:33:06 All-time great.
00:33:08 I'd be so mad.
00:33:10 [Laughter]
00:33:13 Imagine this gets done to you.
00:33:15 Luke Cornette.
00:33:16 This is break your TV stuff.
00:33:17 [Laughter]
00:33:19 Are you kidding me?
00:33:21 You're down 31 points and you have to deal with that?
00:33:25 [Laughter]
00:33:31 Even though they got the best of them last week.
00:33:33 They did.
00:33:35 But Luke Cornette turning into an all-time celebration guy.
00:33:38 So I wanted to highlight it because I thought it was fun.
00:33:41 And last Celtics thing before we get into the e-mail here.
00:33:44 Sam, I don't know if you saw this on my Twitter today.
00:33:48 But I was at Celtics practice.
00:33:50 And we need to go to the VAR.
00:33:52 I got the notification for this.
00:33:54 I did not watch it.
00:33:55 Initial thoughts.
00:33:57 Actually, say what it is.
00:33:59 Say what it is.
00:34:00 Yeah, so the Celtics were -- their assistant coaches were playing a
00:34:03 scrimmage today.
00:34:04 Charles Lee was playing.
00:34:06 Emile Jefferson was playing.
00:34:07 Matt Reynolds, the green light guy, was playing.
00:34:09 Phil Pressey was playing.
00:34:11 A lot of them were playing.
00:34:13 Not Sam Casaldo.
00:34:14 Notable absence.
00:34:16 And during the scrimmage, Charles Lee got the ball and crossed up
00:34:23 and dropped Emile Jefferson.
00:34:26 Now we need to go to the VAR because Charles Lee missed the shot.
00:34:30 So does it count if he missed the shot?
00:34:32 First take without even seeing it.
00:34:35 Yes.
00:34:36 Kind of foul that you would record this.
00:34:38 I didn't mean to record this.
00:34:40 And post it.
00:34:41 I didn't mean to record it.
00:34:43 If I'm Emile Jefferson and I see you at the facility,
00:34:46 you're getting the ultimate cold shoulder.
00:34:48 I'll make sure Tatum is mean to you because Tatum's his friend.
00:34:52 This is assault by you posting this.
00:34:57 I just wanted to post a video of the Celtics scrimmage, right?
00:35:01 And I took a video and it happened that I was like, oh, shit.
00:35:04 Let's see how many engagements this got.
00:35:07 Actually, I can tell you.
00:35:09 16,000 engagements.
00:35:11 16,000 engagements.
00:35:13 That's pretty bad.
00:35:15 That man probably can't leave his apartment today.
00:35:17 However, he was quick to point out after the fact.
00:35:20 He said it didn't count.
00:35:22 It didn't go in.
00:35:25 It didn't go in.
00:35:26 So making sure everyone knew.
00:35:28 But here's Charles Lee.
00:35:30 Here's Charles Lee dropping Emile Jefferson.
00:35:33 They're in the corner of the screen here.
00:35:35 He gets switched on to him on a screen, takes him in the corner.
00:35:38 Sissy.
00:35:41 Oh, that's so bad.
00:35:42 And then he misses the shot, though.
00:35:43 So it doesn't count.
00:35:44 Look at Charles.
00:35:45 He knows he had him, too.
00:35:46 He knows he had him.
00:35:48 But yeah, he just crosses him up.
00:35:50 This is right.
00:35:51 This is a left.
00:35:52 And then Emile Jefferson falls.
00:35:54 You're about to get spoken to by the PR team.
00:35:57 He knows it doesn't count.
00:36:01 He said it didn't count.
00:36:02 Look at him.
00:36:03 You'll get up.
00:36:04 He's screaming at him.
00:36:05 Watch him.
00:36:06 Watch him.
00:36:07 He pops up as soon as he misses.
00:36:09 I was like, yeah, I was this a little bit.
00:36:11 Yeah, no, I think he could have gotten up sooner, but he just he committed to it.
00:36:15 Watch like he falls a little.
00:36:17 And then once he starts going right again, he just like he just lays down.
00:36:20 He's like, yeah, I just he got him, though.
00:36:25 Charles, he got him good.
00:36:26 Imagine being like the analytics guy coach where you like you really didn't play at a high level, but you just are really good at looking at numbers.
00:36:32 And they're like, hey, we need one more.
00:36:34 Man.
00:36:37 Yeah, no, I just it would be fun to cook.
00:36:40 Imagine you just catch fire.
00:36:42 You're lighting up all these guys that played in the pros like Phil Presi.
00:36:45 There was one practice season roster one year.
00:36:48 There was one practice where Matt Reynolds was just not missing nailing shots.
00:36:55 Yeah, I remember it.
00:36:56 He's hitting them.
00:36:57 But anyways, let's jump over to the email check in.
00:37:02 Check in with RJ and the others who submitted emails for us today.
00:37:08 Let me pull it up.
00:37:10 I went to a new tab, so I can go back to the tab.
00:37:13 We do.
00:37:14 We have some from Philip, some RJ.
00:37:17 I'll put in Papanito on the screen and we'll go check out the email.
00:37:22 So here we go.
00:37:24 So this is from RJ.
00:37:27 This is from after the Orlando game because we recorded it early.
00:37:31 So this didn't get to the time.
00:37:32 But he said one last note from the Orlando game from RJ.
00:37:35 I went back and watched the first three minutes of the game and every side
00:37:38 exposition the magic were picking up on the ball handler early, even on the tip.
00:37:41 Jalen Brown has met at midcourt.
00:37:42 Not a hard press, but enough to slow the advance into the front court.
00:37:45 If you pop into the replay at random points, Orlando is either in the back
00:37:48 court or meeting them as soon as they advance into the front court.
00:37:51 It was a consistent strategy on their part.
00:37:52 One time KP comes out of the midcourt stripe to get a pass, and then he
00:37:55 quickly gets ahead for an easy shot attempt.
00:37:58 And the times Orlando failed to engage itself, had some easy baskets.
00:38:02 Those are sorts of things that the coaching staff should help with noticing
00:38:04 opponents tend to season giving players reminders and how to defeat them.
00:38:07 That's what I want to see more from Joe Missoula, whether it's timeouts or not.
00:38:10 Be well, RJ.
00:38:12 I believe you.
00:38:13 I mean, I didn't notice it at the time.
00:38:15 It makes sense.
00:38:16 They were being very physical.
00:38:17 They were meeting ball handlers quickly.
00:38:20 I know Joe Missoula does stress playing with pace and does seem like the Celtics
00:38:24 don't do it at times.
00:38:25 So again, I wonder how much of that is him saying it and I'm not doing it
00:38:28 versus him not saying it enough.
00:38:30 So I guess there's definitely a balance there.
00:38:32 But yeah, I mean, they just they just weren't quick enough to adjust to what
00:38:35 the magic we're doing on Friday in that game.
00:38:39 Yeah, the Celtics are 1000% at their best when they're running, playing with
00:38:42 pace.
00:38:43 You're absolutely right.
00:38:44 When they slow things down, it doesn't go well.
00:38:46 It's how they lose a lot of these leads.
00:38:47 It's why they've been poor in the fourth quarter for years and years.
00:38:51 It's because they're just not good.
00:38:54 Getting the offense going in the half court.
00:38:57 The post-ups have helped and it's the reason why they've actually had success
00:39:02 in these close games.
00:39:04 Need Porzingis back.
00:39:06 Need Porzingis back.
00:39:07 Would be nice.
00:39:09 Would be nice.
00:39:11 All right, next email we got.
00:39:14 This reminded me of Sam.
00:39:15 Morning, guys.
00:39:16 Just a silly moment before we see Sunday's game has in store for us.
00:39:19 All it's missing is a reference to calorie counting.
00:39:21 Happy Sunday.
00:39:22 Let's see this image.
00:39:23 Forget lab safety.
00:39:24 I want superpowers.
00:39:26 It's just the two drinking chemicals out of a beaker.
00:39:28 Sometimes you have to take the risk.
00:39:31 If you had superpowers, Jack, what would you do?
00:39:35 Uh.
00:39:37 Let's just say you get, uh.
00:39:40 Like you're real strong.
00:39:42 We'll start basic.
00:39:45 Mm hmm.
00:39:46 What do you know what I do?
00:39:47 Yeah.
00:39:49 Uh, playing the NBA.
00:39:51 Bully the fuck out of people.
00:39:52 Yeah, that's all.
00:39:54 I mean, I'm a loser.
00:39:55 Professional athlete.
00:39:56 I make mad money.
00:39:57 I just play in the league.
00:39:58 Yeah, that's that's what I do.
00:39:59 I play in the league.
00:40:00 I play center.
00:40:01 I bully people.
00:40:02 What would be your superpower of choice?
00:40:05 Um, to play in the league or in general?
00:40:08 In general.
00:40:09 I think, uh.
00:40:11 I have an answer to this.
00:40:13 I forget what it's called.
00:40:14 When I was younger, I really wanted to be able to go invisible, but now I'd like to tell you.
00:40:19 Yeah, I know.
00:40:20 Telekinesis.
00:40:21 Is that what it's called?
00:40:22 Oh, controlling things with your mind.
00:40:23 Yeah, I think that'd be the best for general stuff like getting, you know, reading.
00:40:29 Because then at that point, we talk.
00:40:31 This is you can probably read people's minds.
00:40:32 You can probably do other things, but also like for the general day to day.
00:40:35 Like if I need something over there, I can just fucking look at it and it'll come to me.
00:40:39 You know what I'm saying?
00:40:40 Like the general laziness.
00:40:41 The ultimate don't go outside.
00:40:42 Superpower.
00:40:43 Yeah, yeah.
00:40:44 That also that said, shape shifting also kind of sick.
00:40:47 That's a good one.
00:40:48 Coming different animals and stuff.
00:40:50 That's my goal.
00:40:51 Just like I literally shape shift just to like have the ideal look.
00:40:55 Sure, you could make yourself a perfect 10.
00:40:58 Imagine also for those who say flying bad answer.
00:41:03 Objectively bad answer.
00:41:04 You want to know why?
00:41:05 Let me explain it.
00:41:06 Why?
00:41:07 If you can be a shape shifter shape shift into a bird, then undo it.
00:41:11 That way you have it and can do other stuff and also can fly.
00:41:14 I would want to be the flash.
00:41:16 I think he's a good answer.
00:41:18 Super fast can go through time.
00:41:20 You can eat whatever you want.
00:41:22 W W super.
00:41:24 Why can't you heal fast?
00:41:26 Why can he eat whatever he wants?
00:41:28 Because his body's burning the food so fast that he actually literally needs to eat mad.
00:41:34 Leave it to you to know the caloric, you know, details.
00:41:39 It's part of the movie.
00:41:41 It's like the movie that just came out.
00:41:43 It's like the first scene.
00:41:44 He like has to get something to eat.
00:41:45 He's like dying, dying, but he's like out of juice.
00:41:48 I see.
00:41:49 All right.
00:41:50 Next email.
00:41:51 Philip on the in season NBA rat list.
00:41:54 What's up?
00:41:55 I'm a little under the weather.
00:41:57 The sweet spot that Sam talked about.
00:41:59 So I'm staying home all day and watching basketball.
00:42:01 Poor me.
00:42:02 It's the best.
00:42:03 It's the absolute best.
00:42:06 You sit there.
00:42:07 Nobody bothers you.
00:42:08 You can watch whatever you want, whether it's movies, basketball games, you play Xbox, whatever you want.
00:42:13 Nobody bothers.
00:42:14 No responsibilities.
00:42:15 This gift of sickness also gives me a chance for an in season rat list.
00:42:20 I call it the patino cup.
00:42:21 Shout out contestants, players who lie about their height or shoe size, making the NBA wasn't enough for your vanity.
00:42:29 Why stop there when you could wear makeup and tailor your jerseys?
00:42:33 Players who do the too short gesture, except for us, other than Russ, who started it.
00:42:37 The rest of them are middle school rat copycat.
00:42:39 Be original or don't taunt.
00:42:41 It's like using a comedian's material as your own.
00:42:44 Good point.
00:42:45 Contestant for players who complain about not getting calls and follow the ref while not playing defense.
00:42:50 Shout out to a young.
00:42:51 No one.
00:42:52 Pause the game.
00:42:53 Get your overpaid rat tail back on defense.
00:42:55 When this happens, the ref should call a play to stop and let the players team flog them.
00:43:00 Players contested for players who fall over when shooting for quote safety.
00:43:07 It might be safe for them, but how the fuck is that safe for the other players when it's a big rat?
00:43:12 Indeed, it's comically dangerous.
00:43:14 It's also a flop.
00:43:15 Yes, men, five guys on the bench who don't celebrate their teammates.
00:43:19 Shout out Luke Cornett, who you're on a team.
00:43:23 You aren't waiting to board a plane.
00:43:24 If you can't show your team that you support them, you're a rat.
00:43:27 It's not all about you.
00:43:28 Any wild card rats to add who wins the in-season Pitino Cup thoughts.
00:43:32 Same of Phillips presented rats.
00:43:37 The guys that are falling on jump shots.
00:43:39 Number one.
00:43:40 OK, I do think the two short bullet point is a great one.
00:43:44 Also, Russ Russ, one of the more creative celebrators in the NBA.
00:43:49 The two small rock the baby.
00:43:51 Pretty good celebrations.
00:43:53 I like that from Russ.
00:43:55 I'm not a Russ guy.
00:43:58 I'm a Russ guy like Russ.
00:43:59 I'm going to go with the complaining about calls and not playing defense.
00:44:03 Travel harder, buddy.
00:44:05 Great.
00:44:06 Yeah, bad, bad.
00:44:08 Admittedly, I can't think of any wild cards, though.
00:44:11 Wild card rats.
00:44:12 The guys that suck but play good against your team.
00:44:15 Mm.
00:44:16 Sure.
00:44:17 Bogdanovich, who doesn't really suck, but that was ridiculous against Celtics on Sunday.
00:44:22 Let's see what else.
00:44:23 Guys that are leave the leave teams.
00:44:25 Guys, LeBron jump ship when the what is it going gets tough, tough get going, whatever
00:44:33 trade request.
00:44:35 Guys in general trade request.
00:44:37 Guys, James Harden, ultimate rat Kyrie rat.
00:44:40 Quit on your team.
00:44:41 Guys quit on your team.
00:44:43 Guys.
00:44:44 Yeah.
00:44:45 The me, me, me guy, Jordan Pool.
00:44:47 The push a player midair.
00:44:50 The push a player midair.
00:44:51 Yeah, yeah.
00:44:52 That's you should get your ass beat for that one.
00:44:55 That's a such a bad offense.
00:44:57 Yeah, I think that's all I got.
00:45:00 Good email.
00:45:01 Any other ones?
00:45:02 Good email, though.
00:45:03 Thank you, Philip.
00:45:04 Tell us your in season rat list and say what's popping.
00:45:07 Yes, sir.
00:45:08 RJ.
00:45:09 Okay.
00:45:10 A star a con a condescendo.
00:45:13 Okay.
00:45:14 I'm going to go to Google Translate just because I'm an idiot.
00:45:18 Hold up.
00:45:19 Translate.
00:45:20 Translate.
00:45:21 This means you have it.
00:45:22 What does it mean?
00:45:23 Sam?
00:45:24 Guess what is.
00:45:28 Yes.
00:45:31 Use context clues.
00:45:32 What's popping?
00:45:35 Okay.
00:45:36 Well, it's what is happening, but it's the Portuguese equivalent of what's
00:45:40 popping.
00:45:41 I got you.
00:45:42 Nimi makes a big contribution.
00:45:43 This is from Philip before anyone asks.
00:45:45 Yeah.
00:45:46 God damn it.
00:45:47 Shit.
00:45:48 Before anyone asks, let's just be example 376 of why we're the dumbest of
00:45:55 the dumb.
00:45:56 Hey, I will say this bodes well for us, though, because this proves we
00:45:59 don't read the emails before the show.
00:46:00 This proves that we're acting live or reaction.
00:46:03 The first line of Philip's email before anyone asks.
00:46:06 Yes, that is Google Translate saying what's popping in Portuguese evening
00:46:09 gents on a night where we all had some worries.
00:46:11 Thanks to injuries.
00:46:12 The new bus bus one boys came through aided by a veteran.
00:46:15 The Lano band looked started and looked useful during his 18 minutes.
00:46:19 Eight points, five rebounds.
00:46:21 Nimi was our Portuguese unicorn and coming into score seven and collecting
00:46:24 six offensive rebounds, ten total and commit no fouls in 17 minutes.
00:46:27 Jack, I knew we'd get a bench seven foot over ten boards.
00:46:30 I just picked the wrong one.
00:46:31 True.
00:46:32 He said it would be Luke.
00:46:33 It was not big props to Al for gathering 15 rebounds, blocking two shots
00:46:37 and playing good switch coverage late in the game to silence the Hawks
00:46:40 three ball game.
00:46:41 Tatum Brown and white.
00:46:43 All the things we expect from them, but none were supernova hot offensively.
00:46:46 This struck me as a team win based on more grit and grind.
00:46:50 Heck, even coach Missoula broke out the curveball early.
00:46:53 Yes, I'm ignoring the Hawks Hawks 13.
00:46:54 I'll run over two minutes in the third quarter.
00:46:56 This is a feel good post.
00:46:58 South Lake stay unbeaten at home, but let's see if they can trounce the
00:47:00 Bulls on IST Tuesday.
00:47:02 Be well, RJ.
00:47:03 A lot of games.
00:47:06 What'd you say?
00:47:07 Big day tomorrow with a lot of games.
00:47:09 Yes, yes, yes.
00:47:10 I agree.
00:47:12 Next email.
00:47:14 Once again from RJ Celtics find their curveball.
00:47:17 Evening guys at the 808 mark in the fourth quarter,
00:47:20 Trae Young hit a pull up three to cut the Celtics lead to one or 394.
00:47:22 15 seconds later,
00:47:24 coach Missoula subbed in Delano Banton for Nimi Ishikata and went from drop
00:47:27 coverage to their old defense switch everything at the time.
00:47:30 The Hawks were shooting 41.3% from distance 19 to 46.
00:47:33 The Hawks did not hit another three pointer the rest of the night withing
00:47:36 their final seven threes.
00:47:37 Sometimes the way to win a gunfight is not out.
00:47:40 Shoot your foe, but steal his bullets.
00:47:41 That's a great line.
00:47:42 Shout out RJ.
00:47:43 I don't know how often C's can go to that well,
00:47:46 but it's good to know it's still there.
00:47:47 Be well, RJ.
00:47:48 Good.
00:47:49 Yeah, that defense is always ruled.
00:47:51 Sometimes you just don't have the personnel for it though.
00:47:54 Like, yeah, it was actually encouraging to see the Horford block last night
00:47:57 because that was a,
00:47:59 they attacked him from the perimeter and he was able to recover and then
00:48:02 reject the shot.
00:48:03 They were not able to pick on him as consistently as they did in the
00:48:07 playoffs last year.
00:48:08 As golden state has done in years past, et cetera.
00:48:11 So it was great to see him move his feet.
00:48:13 Guys like Luke Cornette, Kata,
00:48:15 you're not going to see as much of that from them.
00:48:17 So you, like you said,
00:48:18 Missoula subs in Banton and things are magically fixed.
00:48:23 Yeah.
00:48:24 Excuse me.
00:48:25 Agree.
00:48:26 Agree.
00:48:27 Um, what's popping from RJ and MBA historical mystery.
00:48:31 Even the guys I'm going to detour from the day to day Celtics here a
00:48:34 little, I hope you don't mind the segment on Sunday's pod where KG was
00:48:37 talking about the greatness of today's MBA.
00:48:39 I got me thinking I'm not bashing Kevin Garnett for talking about the
00:48:41 achievements of MBAs players today.
00:48:43 I love the game and the players and their accomplishments,
00:48:45 but it did remind me of something I stumbled on a few years back,
00:48:47 a little more did,
00:48:48 did a little more digging today and uncovered a bigger question back
00:48:52 before analytics swept the league.
00:48:53 So completely in the early days of Steph Curry,
00:48:55 changing the way the league looked at three point shooting.
00:48:57 I thought the Donovan Curry era must be ushering in a new peak in
00:49:00 scoring as more and more teams sought to exploit the math of quote three
00:49:02 is greater than two.
00:49:04 And yes,
00:49:05 the past 10 seasons have been as impressive with the league scoring
00:49:07 average being around one to 7.6,
00:49:09 a vast improvement from the 18 years where the league average fewer than
00:49:12 one to one point per game per season from 96 to 2013.
00:49:15 The league did not lack for scores in that stretch.
00:49:18 It saw the last three years of Jordan,
00:49:19 all of Iverson and Tim Duncan's careers,
00:49:21 Dirk Nowitzki, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Garnett himself,
00:49:23 Shaq, Kobe all played amazing ball during the period,
00:49:26 but even the most recent resurgence decade pales to the time when MBA
00:49:30 scoring ruled the league for one 10 year period,
00:49:34 the league average one 15.2 points per game.
00:49:36 That would be the shoot at will sixties, no three point shot,
00:49:39 no load management in the league was still putting up amazing numbers on a
00:49:42 nightly basis, but that's not the mystery.
00:49:45 See in the 60, 61 season,
00:49:47 the league average was an astounding one 18.1 points per game,
00:49:51 but only four years earlier,
00:49:52 the NBA as a league clocked in at 99.6 points per game.
00:49:56 That was a scoring average.
00:49:58 The league wouldn't see again for four decades.
00:50:00 What I desperately want to know is how did every team in the NBA add almost
00:50:04 20 points to their scoring in just four years time.
00:50:07 We can look at the box scores with a few grainy films,
00:50:10 but the folks who saw it firsthand are getting fewer and fewer.
00:50:12 Tommy Russ and Hondo have all passed recently.
00:50:15 Wilt is long gone.
00:50:16 I wish someone would talk with Bob Cousy,
00:50:17 Satch Sanders,
00:50:18 and Jerry West about why the game changed in that short span.
00:50:21 There aren't many left and there's not much time to ask them.
00:50:23 Sorry if I sounded modeling there.
00:50:26 If I was a researcher or writer,
00:50:28 I'd pursue it myself.
00:50:29 If the two of you or someone in the HPT family family wants to run with it,
00:50:32 please do.
00:50:33 I think it would make for a great tale.
00:50:34 Heck,
00:50:35 it might even get the Celtics fan base,
00:50:36 myself included,
00:50:37 to stop harping on Mozilla's timeouts.
00:50:38 Be well,
00:50:39 RJ.
00:50:40 Thoughts.
00:50:41 I wonder if it's just a pace thing.
00:50:43 Yeah,
00:50:44 that's the first thought I have.
00:50:46 Because he talks about the shoot at will mindset in the 1960s.
00:50:52 And maybe it took them a while to figure that one out.
00:50:55 I wonder if anybody else has written about this.
00:50:58 Like it.
00:50:59 Like,
00:51:00 let me see why I did look.
00:51:02 The shot clock came around in 54.
00:51:04 So when they were down to 99.6,
00:51:07 they did have the shot clock still wasn't a forced increase in pace.
00:51:12 Yeah,
00:51:13 that's interesting.
00:51:14 It may have been an adjustment to the shot clock.
00:51:19 It could have been a league pop or popularity of the game spreading.
00:51:24 So you have better players come along.
00:51:26 Instead of a bunch of plumber white guys chucking it off the backboard,
00:51:30 you get more athletic people,
00:51:31 more skilled people that practice the game growing up.
00:51:34 And maybe that leads to more efficient offense.
00:51:37 I don't know.
00:51:39 Yeah,
00:51:40 that's very odd.
00:51:41 I'm trying to find.
00:51:42 There's a page on.
00:51:44 God damn it.
00:51:46 On NBA.com that tells you league averages.
00:51:51 Here is how many points per game there were per season.
00:51:54 The NBA and ABA didn't combine.
00:51:56 Excuse me until 76.
00:51:58 That was my first thought.
00:51:59 I was like,
00:52:00 I wonder if it's that.
00:52:01 But RJ is right in 56,
00:52:02 57.
00:52:03 It was 99 that it jumped in a jump to jump.
00:52:06 We're teams added in this man.
00:52:08 Sorry.
00:52:09 Now I'm interested.
00:52:10 I won't.
00:52:11 I promise I'm not.
00:52:12 I think they were added because everyone says Mickey Mouse Celtics 60s
00:52:14 titles.
00:52:15 True.
00:52:16 There were only eight teams in the league at this point.
00:52:18 So,
00:52:19 excuse me,
00:52:20 if I had to guess.
00:52:22 It would be.
00:52:24 I wonder if that is when more and more players started getting into the
00:52:28 league.
00:52:29 Like if it was 1956,
00:52:31 there just weren't a ton of players in the NBA.
00:52:34 And then by 1960,
00:52:35 there were some,
00:52:36 you know,
00:52:37 the draft picked up a little bit.
00:52:38 This,
00:52:39 you know,
00:52:40 these players played a little bit more.
00:52:41 Yeah.
00:52:42 I wonder if it's a talent thing.
00:52:43 Cause like you look at 55,
00:52:45 56,
00:52:46 it was Petit Paul.
00:52:48 I was in Bob Cousy,
00:52:49 Dolph Shays,
00:52:51 right.
00:52:52 I'll averaging around 20.
00:52:53 And then you look at 19.
00:52:55 What is it?
00:52:56 61 is the elite is the year it went up to like,
00:52:59 what's called one 18.
00:53:02 By that year you had Wilton,
00:53:05 the league Elgin Baylor was in the league.
00:53:07 Oscar Robinson was in the league.
00:53:08 So you added three 30 point per game scores.
00:53:11 Those years,
00:53:12 Tommy Heinzen,
00:53:13 Bill Russell,
00:53:14 you know what I'm saying?
00:53:15 So in that four year span,
00:53:16 you saw so many.
00:53:18 Like better players join the league.
00:53:21 And then it didn't dip down again until later because they added more teams
00:53:27 and the talent was more spread out,
00:53:29 which is probably where we're going to see a little bit with expansion.
00:53:31 This upcoming couple of years.
00:53:33 So I assume it was that because you look at that gap just there alone.
00:53:37 It goes from Bob Pez it Paul errors and Neil Johnston,
00:53:41 Clyde Lovellette and Jolfe Shays as the only five guys scoring over 20 to
00:53:47 14 guys scoring 20 plus.
00:53:50 Wilt Chamberlain came in the league.
00:53:52 Elgin Baylor came to the league.
00:53:53 Oscar Robinson came into the league.
00:53:54 Tommy Heinzen came to the league.
00:53:56 How Greer Bob Cousy,
00:53:58 Jerry West,
00:53:59 Bill Russell.
00:54:00 So like in that short span,
00:54:01 you saw so many guys do it.
00:54:03 And if you want my quick synopsis on why that happened,
00:54:07 the league was founded when let me let me when was Lee founded Sam 46 46.
00:54:12 So in the first 10 years it's going to take a while for you to find all the
00:54:17 best players.
00:54:18 And not only that,
00:54:19 no one played basketball like that,
00:54:21 like as much in that time.
00:54:23 So then it took 10 years for more high school players to start looking at as
00:54:27 an actual career option.
00:54:28 More people like that to like start getting up.
00:54:30 And then by the time you got 10 years in,
00:54:32 you had players who it's not the same,
00:54:34 but effectively how everyone's like,
00:54:36 Oh,
00:54:37 people go through a you now it's this whole pipeline.
00:54:39 Like you had players going from literal plumbers and random motherfuckers
00:54:43 trying to play this game to people.
00:54:45 They went from World War Two.
00:54:46 Yeah,
00:54:47 people who actually train to play basketball.
00:54:49 So that's my,
00:54:50 my,
00:54:51 I guess,
00:54:52 guess,
00:54:53 which I was also my guess.
00:54:54 All right,
00:54:56 last email.
00:54:57 That one took a while.
00:54:58 Phillip Scal crush.
00:55:00 Hi guys.
00:55:02 Rat list.
00:55:03 Excuse me.
00:55:04 Rat list.
00:55:05 Scout crushes.
00:55:06 This is from Phillip.
00:55:07 I know you guys gamble.
00:55:08 My wife and I gamble on every game versus each other for bragging rights.
00:55:11 We do classic things like point total rebounds,
00:55:13 et cetera.
00:55:14 But we also fun categories,
00:55:15 one of which is which opposing player will scout crush on.
00:55:18 This is fun.
00:55:19 I like this.
00:55:20 He seriously does this in most games.
00:55:22 Most games.
00:55:23 He picks a player on the opposing team and falls in love with them for one
00:55:26 game.
00:55:26 He won't be able to stop throwing compliments at them.
00:55:28 It quickly gets corny and annoying to me.
00:55:30 And the Hawks game.
00:55:31 It was young.
00:55:32 We got to hear about how special quote and quote gifted he was with no
00:55:36 mention of how he stands around every second.
00:55:38 It doesn't have the ball.
00:55:39 It's fine for a national broadcast,
00:55:41 but I didn't tune into the local Celtics broadcast to hear how awesome
00:55:44 Trey young is best Phil Sam thoughts.
00:55:46 I remember the scout call of Trey young,
00:55:49 throwing an alley-oop to,
00:55:51 I think it was a Kong Wu in the second half.
00:55:54 And he was just like,
00:55:55 that was a crazy read by Trey young,
00:55:57 like what an incredible play.
00:55:59 Like Phil is absolutely right.
00:56:01 I'm a big scowls and idiot guy.
00:56:04 I don't know.
00:56:05 Scout never met scale.
00:56:06 Everything I've heard about scales.
00:56:08 He's a nice guy,
00:56:09 but he is a creature of habit on the broadcast loves a two for one loves
00:56:16 when somebody gets hurt.
00:56:17 And now we've discovered that he loves an opposing player.
00:56:21 So next game tomorrow night when Chicago's in town,
00:56:24 I'm going to notice this.
00:56:27 So thanks Phil.
00:56:29 Just another reason for me to get upset with scale.
00:56:31 I am curious to see what's going to be.
00:56:33 Cause I don't really know how many likable guys there are in this bulls
00:56:36 team.
00:56:36 You think he's really going to be a big fan of Zach Levine.
00:56:38 You know who it's going to be.
00:56:40 It's going to be Derosen Caruso.
00:56:42 It's going to be correct.
00:56:44 Yeah.
00:56:45 Yeah.
00:56:46 Yeah.
00:56:47 Crucial plays so hard,
00:56:48 man.
00:56:49 You're going to see this tonight.
00:56:50 He's out there working hard on defense,
00:56:51 every possession.
00:56:52 It doesn't matter how good this bulls team is.
00:56:53 He's still out there giving his all every night diving on the floor and
00:56:56 he can shoot the three.
00:56:57 Well,
00:56:58 I can hear him now.
00:56:59 Yeah.
00:57:00 That loser.
00:57:01 Yeah.
00:57:02 I'm going to be a fan of Derosen Caruso.
00:57:03 Absolutely.
00:57:04 But thank you for all the people who sent us with the emails.
00:57:06 Let's move on to the NBA section with our Paudley,
00:57:10 which is a new word that I'm coining NBA standings check-in.
00:57:13 So first and foremost,
00:57:15 this game will have happened by the time that I am talking.
00:57:19 You hear this,
00:57:20 but tonight.
00:57:21 Massive game.
00:57:22 I already know what you're going to say.
00:57:24 We have the pistons taking on the wizards.
00:57:28 The wizards.
00:57:30 The national TV,
00:57:32 the sumbitch,
00:57:33 the wizards have lost nine straight in the pistons have lost 13 straight.
00:57:36 Somebody's losing street.
00:57:38 Somebody's winning.
00:57:39 Someone's got like that Patriots game on Sunday.
00:57:42 These two teams have a combined four and 28 record,
00:57:46 which is just incredible.
00:57:49 So what are the master when,
00:57:51 who do you think is winning Sam?
00:57:53 I don't know what the injury report looks like.
00:57:59 My gut says,
00:58:00 give me Detroit pistons.
00:58:02 It has to be pistons.
00:58:04 I actually like,
00:58:05 don't like the wizards.
00:58:06 Like I don't,
00:58:07 I find Jordan pool extremely difficult to look for,
00:58:09 to look for,
00:58:10 to root for.
00:58:11 They have the same record.
00:58:13 They're both two and 14.
00:58:14 Yeah.
00:58:15 My pistons tonight.
00:58:17 I picked them to finish 11th right now.
00:58:19 They're currently five and a half games back from 11th.
00:58:22 I would hope that they started better,
00:58:25 but you know,
00:58:26 sometimes it's just,
00:58:27 not what you get.
00:58:28 Now you get unlucky.
00:58:29 Your team gets sick.
00:58:30 Jaden Ivy was ill earlier in the season.
00:58:32 So was Cade.
00:58:33 I don't know.
00:58:34 Maybe they turned it around.
00:58:36 Right?
00:58:37 No,
00:58:38 it's not happening,
00:58:39 but they can very well beat the wizards.
00:58:41 I mean,
00:58:42 the wizards sock is Gafford back for the wizards.
00:58:45 Do we know?
00:58:46 I can tell you in a second.
00:58:48 If he's not prayers,
00:58:50 cause the pistons,
00:58:51 they have all the big guys,
00:58:53 Duran,
00:58:54 Stewart,
00:58:55 James,
00:58:56 not on the injury report.
00:58:57 So he's back.
00:58:58 They got a chance.
00:58:59 I wonder how he's playing this season.
00:59:01 Daniel Gafford.
00:59:02 He's a,
00:59:03 it's fine.
00:59:04 9.6 points,
00:59:05 7.6 rebounds.
00:59:06 Sure.
00:59:07 Two blocks of game.
00:59:08 Pretty good.
00:59:09 He's playing 25 minutes a night.
00:59:11 Anyways,
00:59:12 other stuff around the league magic have now won seven straight.
00:59:16 So they're pretty good.
00:59:17 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:19 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:21 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:23 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:25 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:27 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:29 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:31 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:33 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:35 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:37 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:39 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:41 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:43 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:45 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:47 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:49 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:51 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:53 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:55 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:57 I think they're going to be pretty good.
00:59:59 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:01 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:03 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:05 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:07 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:09 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:11 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:13 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:15 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:17 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:19 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:21 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:23 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:25 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:27 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:29 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:31 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:33 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:35 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:37 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:39 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:41 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:43 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:45 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:47 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:49 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:51 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:53 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:55 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:57 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:00:59 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:01 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:03 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:05 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:07 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:09 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:11 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:13 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:15 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:17 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:19 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:21 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:23 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:25 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:27 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:29 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:31 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:33 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:35 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:37 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:39 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:41 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:43 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:45 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:47 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:49 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:51 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:53 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:55 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:57 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:01:59 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:02:01 I think they're going to be pretty good.

01:21:51 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:21:53 I think they're going to be pretty good.

01:22:17 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:22:19 I think they're going to be pretty good.
01:22:21 I had a few moments during the stream to pop in the chat, see what was going on.
01:22:28 I was going to try and give Jack something to talk about in case they were giving him nothing because I knew he was going to be by himself.
01:22:33 It's not easy to do. I've done it. Don't worry.
01:22:35 It's not easy. Not for everybody.
01:22:37 I come in and immediately see Jared say, "Jack, what's your least favorite thing about Sam?"
01:22:44 Now, anti-rhetorically to Jack because he had nothing bad to say.
01:22:48 Genuinely. He didn't even know I was there.
01:22:50 Because the comments don't load right away.
01:22:53 I was like, "You better watch this one. Be careful."
01:22:56 Yeah.
01:22:58 Rat List. Trying to be a pot.
01:23:00 I don't appreciate that.
01:23:02 Jared, who I thought was an ally, one of my favorite chatters.
01:23:06 A2 Jared.
01:23:08 Yeah, you got your ass. He was ready for it.
01:23:13 You didn't get my ass because you didn't concede.
01:23:15 You were like, "Sam's a great guy."
01:23:17 Actually, it was great for me.
01:23:19 I've got to stand on top of it.
01:23:21 True characters. What people say or what happens when no one's watching.
01:23:26 You didn't think I was watching. Jack had some nice things to say.
01:23:29 So he loves doing the show. Get fucked.
01:23:31 I do like the show. It's good.
01:23:33 It would have been devastating if Jack was like, "He's terrible. He doesn't contribute. Shows up late."
01:23:39 Imagine.
01:23:41 Rat List myself.
01:23:43 So I was asking Jason Tatum a question last night.
01:23:47 Last night about post-ups and stuff like that.
01:23:49 My follow-up question, what I wanted to convey was,
01:23:54 how do you balance the mentality of a lot of the time when you go to a post-up,
01:23:58 you are bigger or you're at an advantage.
01:24:02 So it would be natural for you to want to just drive through the guy.
01:24:06 How do you balance that with also trying to make the right play and pass your teammates?
01:24:10 And I think that would be a valid thing to ask.
01:24:13 What came out of my mouth was, how do you balance attacking versus passing out of the post?
01:24:20 And Tatum's response, while laughing at me, was, "If I get doubled, I pass."
01:24:27 Which is – I didn't dictate the question. Do you want me to pull it up? Do you want to go to VR?
01:24:32 Yeah, let's review this. And I'll take the rat off the screen. You just go find it.
01:24:37 It is completely my fault. Completely on me.
01:24:42 I didn't phrase the question well enough.
01:24:45 However, getting laughed at wasn't fun.
01:24:49 Yeah, it sucks.
01:24:51 Especially because, yeah, Tatum makes more money than you, but you guys – I mean we're all pretty much the same age.
01:24:57 Yeah.
01:24:58 That's got to hurt.
01:25:00 Let's see.
01:25:02 Okay, so here we go. Let me pull it up.
01:25:06 Here's the VAR.
01:25:08 You know the question I started smirking because I know I was a moron and like – it was kind of like, yeah, duh, no shit, my bad for phrasing this poorly.
01:25:15 But this was – yeah, here.
01:25:16 How are you finding the balance of attacking in those spots because, I mean, a lot of the times you're on a smaller opponent versus finding guys on the perimeter?
01:25:25 I mean, just read it.
01:25:28 He looks at me smiling.
01:25:30 I score a couple and then they just start doubling and you kind of open it.
01:25:36 He realized midway through answering that I realized that I'm a moron and phrased it poorly and so he started laughing.
01:25:44 Yeah, it's – not exactly what I wanted.
01:25:47 Do you understand what I was trying to ask?
01:25:49 Did you apologize to him after?
01:25:50 Be like, "Hey, actually, like I am a regular here.
01:25:53 Like they didn't do this just to like make me feel validated.
01:25:57 Like I know what I'm talking about.
01:26:00 I have a podcast."
01:26:01 Do you understand what I was trying to ask though?
01:26:02 Like does it make sense what I wanted to ask?
01:26:04 Yeah, because you explained it to me.
01:26:05 You're like what goes in – like what kind of self-control do you have to have is really what you wanted to ask him.
01:26:11 But instead you were like what are the situations where you think it's better to pass?
01:26:17 Like maybe when my teammate is open.
01:26:20 Fuck, yeah.
01:26:21 No, I'm still getting better.
01:26:24 It's a work in progress.
01:26:26 All right.
01:26:27 You go ahead.
01:26:28 So Rattles is playing video games online.
01:26:30 Now this is not always a Rattles and not everything about this is a Rattles.
01:26:34 I very happen to be playing Xbox with my friends again.
01:26:36 It's not something I've done in a very long time.
01:26:38 But they all play the new Call of Duty now.
01:26:41 I am about as good at Call of Duty as Julius Randall is at basketball.
01:26:48 Not very good.
01:26:49 Oh, no.
01:26:50 Not very is the answer.
01:26:51 Not very good.
01:26:52 What Call of Duty are you playing?
01:26:53 Is it like the – there is a new one out?
01:26:55 Whatever the new one is, I paid for it, $70.
01:26:57 Don't worry about it.
01:26:58 I threw the money down and not very good.
01:27:02 Now, I was laughed at yesterday.
01:27:04 I was trying to explain to them where I had gotten killed from
01:27:06 and I wasn't able to give them a good definition.
01:27:09 It's not very fun to get killed by 21 Savage.
01:27:12 It's not very fun to get killed by Nicki Minaj who you can play as in this game.
01:27:17 I feel like an old person, by the way.
01:27:19 Wait, what game modes do you play?
01:27:21 Just normal like search and destroy and shit?
01:27:23 I think they do like a shuffle because sometimes it's search,
01:27:27 sometimes it's hard point, sometimes it's domination.
01:27:30 I've been looking – so are you out like – do you not enjoy it
01:27:33 or are you just mad because you're not good at it?
01:27:35 I'm mad that I'm not good at it.
01:27:37 I'm mad that people online are better.
01:27:39 But also like I found myself getting mad playing video games for the first time
01:27:43 in a very long time.
01:27:46 No, I feel that.
01:27:47 I was just texting Danny, friend of the show today.
01:27:50 I'm like, "Hey, are any of the boys playing games tonight?"
01:27:53 because I haven't played games in a while either because I mean Celtics are in the time.
01:27:56 But tonight, no games.
01:27:58 Nothing going on.
01:28:00 If the fellows need an extra for Call of Duty, I will buy the game.
01:28:03 I put it out there.
01:28:05 You'll buy the game. It won't be downloaded.
01:28:07 It's like 100 – it's massive.
01:28:09 I got good internet.
01:28:10 It will be downloaded within an hour, I guarantee you.
01:28:12 It took me four hours.
01:28:14 You also have Verizon.
01:28:16 Terrible internet.
01:28:17 Yeah, it's true.
01:28:20 I don't know if I have any in the rat list.
01:28:22 I don't have anything.
01:28:23 I think I'm done.
01:28:24 Let me do a quick scan.
01:28:26 There's got to be something else that I can rat list.
01:28:29 Rat list, the tea, the light was out in my car.
01:28:31 It felt like I was about to get attacked.
01:28:35 Yeah, I've been watching horror movies, and I do have this, "Oh my god, I might get attacked about me."
01:28:40 Yeah.
01:28:41 Like when I get in my car, I'm ready for somebody to like put like a rope around my neck and pull me from behind.
01:28:47 Yeah.
01:28:48 I went in my car after I went to the gym.
01:28:51 I think somebody went through my car.
01:28:53 Nothing was taken.
01:28:54 My wallet was in the car.
01:28:55 All the cash was still in there, but my glove box was open.
01:28:58 You leave your wallet in the car?
01:29:00 It might have just opened.
01:29:02 I don't lock my car.
01:29:05 What the fuck is wrong with you?
01:29:06 I don't want to lock my car.
01:29:07 I don't have an automatic opener.
01:29:09 I have to put the key in and unlock it.
01:29:13 It's whatever.
01:29:15 I – baffling, first.
01:29:19 One, baffling you don't lock your car, but more importantly in this situation, as Sam is frozen and I'm talking to nobody.
01:29:26 I'm back.
01:29:28 So I said one, crazy you don't lock your car, but more importantly, why did you leave your wallet in the car?
01:29:34 Because when I go to the gym, I don't want to have too much stuff in my pockets.
01:29:38 Do you not like put it in a locker or something in the room or anything?
01:29:41 No, I literally put it in – well, I'm not going to say where I put my wallet.
01:29:47 What am I, fucking stupid?
01:29:49 Crazy you don't lock your car.
01:29:51 Wow, okay.
01:29:52 I never lock my car.
01:29:53 That's nuts.
01:29:54 That's crazy.
01:29:55 Well, most of the time there's nothing in my car that I don't want to steal.
01:29:58 Except when you put your wallet in it.
01:30:00 That is literally the only time I ever have anything in my car worth stealing.
01:30:03 All right.
01:30:04 So if you live in the area, go to – find out the gym.
01:30:07 You can have my fucking plethora of Chipotle napkins in my glove box.
01:30:12 Oh, I'll say one thing.
01:30:14 I got – I'm not going to show it, but I got my new debit card for my new bank account,
01:30:18 et cetera.
01:30:19 But now I have to go –
01:30:20 Show it.
01:30:21 Stand up.
01:30:22 Now I have to go to Santander to move all the money from my old account because I'm still
01:30:27 getting the direct deposits to my old account and then move all that money to a new account
01:30:31 but then fix all my direct deposits.
01:30:33 I think that's the number one reason actually not to move out.
01:30:35 You'd have to change so many addresses.
01:30:38 Yeah.
01:30:39 Just never leave.
01:30:41 Good solution.
01:30:43 Yeah, not fun.
01:30:45 I think that's all I got though.
01:30:47 Why did you get your bank account hacked?
01:30:49 Are you stupid?
01:30:50 Yeah.
01:30:51 I told the story on the pod.
01:30:52 I know you did.
01:30:53 I'm just messing with you.
01:30:54 Oh, yeah.
01:30:55 Fuck you.
01:30:56 They were good though.
01:30:57 It was a good hack.
01:30:58 Good job them.
01:30:59 Good job.
01:31:00 Good hack.
01:31:01 Shit.
01:31:02 Luckily, my phone was connected to my account at the time so they couldn't get the one-time
01:31:05 passcodes because my phone literally just wasn't working.
01:31:07 Shout out to the two-factor authentication which I think 99% of the time is a big fucking
01:31:12 pain in the ass.
01:31:13 Yes.
01:31:14 It saved you.
01:31:15 I agree.
01:31:16 Also, Rattless Caps again because one, it's useless and two, it only pops up at the worst
01:31:20 times.
01:31:21 Like example, today's pod, the Atlanta Hawks recap, I forgot to edit.
01:31:26 Got home, got in bed, tired, went to sleep.
01:31:28 Oh, no.
01:31:29 Watched it while I was asleep.
01:31:30 Watching the videos.
01:31:31 In one of the videos, somebody said, "Oh, this many ads in a video."
01:31:36 In my head, I'm like, "Wait, I didn't fucking edit the video."
01:31:39 It's 3 AM.
01:31:40 I get out of bed, edit it, put it up.
01:31:44 It's hero.
01:31:45 Of course.
01:31:46 Huh?
01:31:47 Hero ball.
01:31:48 Yeah.
01:31:49 It's happened once or twice.
01:31:50 I'm usually pretty good about it.
01:31:51 I got up.
01:31:52 Every day I wake up, it's there.
01:31:53 Yeah.
01:31:54 Got it in.
01:31:55 The one time it's been late is because the internet was bad and it was slow and I wasn't
01:32:00 looking at it.
01:32:01 It happens.
01:32:02 It happens on the cape, but I logged in to upload it to Megaphone 2, which is the platform
01:32:07 we use to upload audio.
01:32:09 Of course, I'm going tab to tab.
01:32:12 I'm opening it, going to another tab, going back just so I can speed through it.
01:32:16 Of course, 3 AM is exactly when Capture decides to test if I'm a human.
01:32:21 Fuck off.
01:32:22 Got to make sure.
01:32:23 Every other time, it's fine and I can just log in, but not this time.
01:32:27 This time, decided to be a fuck.
01:32:30 Anyways, okay.
01:32:31 That's all I got.
