00:00:14June 22nd ahead of the NBA draft after the Celtics parade in the middle of everything

00:00:20season's over but no rest for the wicked I suppose lots of stuff going on like I mentioned

00:00:27the draft Thursday and it's a 20 Thursday Thursday and Friday yeah Thursday and Friday

00:00:33so right next week and then free and she's like the first so then we get like a pseudo

00:00:37week off before free agency and then the draft will be in the middle of it all but speaking

00:00:47of the draft we are going to be joined by Tyler Rucker of No Ceilings he's gonna tell

00:00:52us about some of the prospects it's all they could take he's gonna help us look at some

00:00:56of the emails you guys have sent us about the draft because frankly we don't know shit

00:01:00and then you know give us some insight on maybe the top of the draft you will see where

00:01:07it goes but anything before we throw it over him Sam any any I know took over the first

00:01:13minute but all right let's start over to that interview now all right it is my pleasure

00:01:18to welcome friend of the show Tyler Rucker of No Ceilings resident draft expert Celtics

00:01:24guy all-around perfect guy for this time of year Tyler how you doing appreciate you

00:01:28for being here I was so excited to be back on this one with you guys I'm doing fantastic

00:01:35draft season is a little crazy right now but Celtics time I mean boys we did it it's all

00:01:42I care about I didn't even want to come on here to talk draft I just want to make we

00:01:46talk basketball about the Celtics and the fact that we got another banner going up no

00:01:50I'm kidding it feels good great can't complain how difficult was it to do draft research

00:01:59as you're sweating out watching I mean I guess you didn't really have to sweat this playoffs

00:02:03but like I mean they still gave me a heart attack in game three they did everything they

00:02:07could to lose then they lose the game for where everyone's like hey what if the Mavs

00:02:12come back everyone was you know constantly like oh are you feeling good feel good I was

00:02:18like I've never felt good with this Celtics team I haven't felt good with the Celtics

00:02:21team since like the KG Celtics and I was like I was nervous every game like even when they're

00:02:26up in the series I was just like oh gosh like we're up 20 and it I feel like that lead just

00:02:32doesn't mean anything anymore like it's basketball right now like you're at 20 like it's one

00:02:36heater and the game's right back so especially with the Celtics I don't know I I was just

00:02:43all like the moment it was the first tip I was like draft modes off I'm all in on the

00:02:48Celtics I didn't feel good for most of those games the finals did not feel like it was

00:02:54uh you know 4-1 it felt like it was like seven game series what about you guys did you were

00:02:59you just basket cases or me probably more than Jack because Jack was there like I don't

00:03:07know yeah Jack does not get as like up and down as I do he's pretty like yeah I think

00:03:12healed when it comes to the games like you got the complete opposite ends of the spectrum

00:03:17on the show you have me wearing a heart monitor checking my pulse and making sure I'm not

00:03:21dying during a game literally before game five I hit triple digits like I was going

00:03:25berserk literal that's that's not like some metaphor he's making he literally wore a heart

00:03:29monitor I don't know like just to clarify I love that yeah and so I hit triple digits

00:03:35before the game meanwhile like Jack was like no they're okay and after game four I don't

00:03:40think either one of us was very like shook we're just like oh like yeah that was a disaster

00:03:45but uh none of it really felt like it was sustainable and felt like a big time outlier

00:03:51and we were right but worst part of the playoffs is probably game two lost Miami in the first

00:03:56round I was like yes here we go again losing at home to a bad team like when are they ever

00:04:02gonna learn and it turns out they were okay yeah I felt game two was right there go ahead

00:04:09Jack I'm right there with you Sam like game two yeah game two against Miami I was falling

00:04:15apart I was like oh gosh they're gonna do it again they're gonna just have this historic

00:04:19year and fall apart and trade everyone I would have to like look at our podcast which I mean

00:04:27the good thing about doing this after every game is I can go see how we were feeling like

00:04:31how are we feeling I think I was okay even then like I don't know I remember you being

00:04:37okay as shocker what are you gonna do this is true this team never really worried me

00:04:49like I don't know it just the way they carry themselves I was just kind of like they just

00:04:52made me feel pretty confident in the fact that they're gonna do it I'm like I said it

00:04:55before the Mavs series it was like baffling how many people picked the Mavs after the

00:05:00Celtics won game one I doubled down I went on like first to the floor which is I don't

00:05:03know if you know they're the they're great they cover the Celtics they they're mostly

00:05:07out in Australia but they're they're sick and I went on there like late night show and

00:05:10I was like it is an embarrassment to basketball that people pick the Mavericks in the series

00:05:15and I was goddamn right it is horrendous the Mavs were the third best team the Celtics

00:05:20played in this playoffs and I stand on that and I'll die to that and if Jimmy Butler was

00:05:24healthy they'd be dead last it I'm right there with you it was unbelievable like I there's

00:05:30certain shows I can't watch for you know but leading up to the game and stuff I just

00:05:35can't stand them like I've tried I can't do it I got a muted at halftime and I didn't

00:05:41even know so many people picked the Mavs like until like after game one pick the Mavs and

00:05:47the Celtics I wish like what I kept seeing who was it a bunch of Celtics people were

00:05:52posted it then I saw the receipts and I was laughing hysterically I was like this many

00:05:56people pick the Mavs so it that's just conspiracy everyone was yes everyone expecting the Celtics

00:06:04to fall apart that's what they're rooting for ESPN pushing Mavs Mavs Mavs Mavs Mavs

00:06:10as they push their ESPN bet ESPN bet ESPN bet everybody put all your money in the Mavs

00:06:15and you'll win like five to one or it was like one point eight to one go ahead put all

00:06:21your money on them they're a good team Kyrie and Luca are the best backcourt ever like

00:06:26just pushing all of the garbage so people would waste their money unbelievable yeah

00:06:33unbelievable it was unreal it Luca is now it he's probably the scariest person to play

00:06:38against like I don't want to deal with Luca again every time he shot something I was like

00:06:42the Luke is gonna score 20 straight like I was just terrified he's very scary in the

00:06:46first quarter yes yes he's a breather I blame Wynne Horst for that not being a sweep I think

00:06:55Wynne Horst yeah I think that's why they didn't sweep him it's cuz Wynne Horst is a little rant

00:06:59so it's great yeah exactly so it felt great after everything they've been through how many

00:07:07heartbreaking losses you know I didn't really I knew it but listening back to Bill Simmons and

00:07:13stuff when he went through every heartbreak loss I was like oh my gosh I forgot there's

00:07:16three or four more in there that really hurt like I was like gee so they were due I'm just

00:07:23glad they got over the mountaintop I'm excited to see if Tatum has the weight off his shoulder

00:07:28if Jalen keeps this going like I do feel really good about Tatum I feel like it was telling after

00:07:34the game when he just kind of was like break it down that guy's been a 15-year vet in interviews

00:07:40since he entered the league and he just was falling apart so I was like okay this might

00:07:46be telling hmm it was great like it just felt like like you said they were more than two they

00:07:52they needed that they got it done if they didn't win this year everyone would have been all up in

00:07:56arms but they did it and it's phenomenal and it feels great that they finally were able to do it

00:08:01I have like Twitter open here just cuz like I'm looking at different stuff and I have a second

00:08:06young in a Celtics jersey wearing Boston Celtics I like I'm like what what is happening each goes

00:08:11we did it I'm like this week hold on I need to like contextualize what I'm looking at cuz I'm

00:08:16so confused but what happened was is him and whoever he's talking with they're very happy

00:08:22that a European guy didn't win the title again so the Celtics America's team oh my gosh that's

00:08:32incredible the irony of a Chris tops for zingas trade getting them over the top

00:08:56so wait Tyler how long have you been a Celtics fan like when was the first year you started

00:09:07like religiously following Celtics basketball oh I don't remember when I wasn't a Celtics

00:09:12but like that I my old man grew up in Chicago his dad was a diehard Sixers fan and when he

00:09:20was a kid there was like the Celtics and the Sixers were always on TV or the Celtics the

00:09:23Lakers and but he just was like I loved the Celtics I was obsessed with them and then it's

00:09:31kind of been like a rule ever since I was like born it's like you can root for any sports team

00:09:35except in basketball it's the Celtics so like I'm not I've watched all the bird games all everything

00:09:41I'm just okay and obsessed my whole life so people like Oh bandwagon I'm like no I've literally been

00:09:47getting Larry Bird stories for bed nights before you know everybody else was getting Michael Jordan

00:09:52it was like yeah bird stealing the ball against the Pistons like all my life yeah I was yeah I

00:10:07was graduating high school okay I know it so it was a heck of a heck of a parting gift but yeah

00:10:15it was pretty good you know you're growing up you're like oh I love Kevin Garnett you start

00:10:18rooting for like players like I was in Northern California so the Warriors weren't great and every

00:10:24time like KG and stuff would come through I'd be like oh I gotta go see Garnett you know I gotta

00:10:28go to a game Vince Carter's in town so then all of a sudden they put like Kevin Garnett and Ray

00:10:34Allen and Paul Pierce on the same team and I'm like this is like my childhood and what this is

00:10:39unbelievable so it just seems so wild that it's the last time they won one was oh wait it seems

00:10:46not that long ago and also extremely long ago so it's just crazy we talked about like all the

00:10:54heartbreak and stuff like that was the first time they lifted a trophy at home since 2010 winning

00:10:59the Eastern Conference Finals on their own floor like they've had success like they've been to the

00:11:03finals and stuff but like they hadn't won like a big playoff game at the garden in a very long

00:11:07time it felt like like yes you can chalk up Sixers game seven bucks game seven but like anything past

00:11:13the second round past the end bead territory they have not won a significant playoff game at home

00:11:20so it was pretty cool to finally have something I can pull up on my phone in August when I have

00:11:25nothing going for me and I'm like okay yes this is why we play this is why we get behind the

00:11:31microphone this is why we watch all the games right here this is why we get behind the microphone

00:11:37I love that this I haven't had that feeling with the Celtics of the draft yet so I'm pretty

00:11:48pumped about that but it felt good I hear you say I'm like what they wanted I was like this

00:11:53makes me feel good about watching a whole year of basketball games I you're right I mean that's

00:12:00I've never thought of it that way they always were taking care of stuff on the road which is

00:12:07which is great but it's like a sign of dominance and stuff except for when you lose a game 7 at

00:12:12home and you lose game 4 of the finals at home in 2022 and game 6 like just like all these spots

00:12:19that were kind of big spots they just kept coming up short it was like weird like was the pressure

00:12:23getting to them and so on but yeah finally did it finally gave me the highlights finally it feels

00:12:31good now we can just start you know getting drunk about hey can they rattle off some more can we

00:12:37can we throw the d-word out you know it's gonna be it's gonna be a bar fight next year everyone's

00:12:46gonna be coming for him it's gonna be really fun to see what they got and I think the West is gonna

00:12:51be nuts so oh yeah I'm pumped for it I'm really pumped in the meantime Celtics fans get to have

00:12:58the beautiful enjoyment of obsessing over pick 30 in the draft it until it's pick 50 until 51

00:13:08this year because they have two days so you're gonna like you're gonna stay up you're gonna

00:13:13watch the entire first round that's gonna be like hey guess what the Celts aren't picking

00:13:17tonight so you just wasted your Thursday so the last time we talked to you about draft stuff for

00:13:24like ahead of the draft we talked to you a little earlier like for March Madness but draft stuff

00:13:28I think since then we've doubled in size of the channel which means that we now have people asking

00:13:37about certain prospects and we have to be like I don't know Tyler and so even like we have no idea

00:13:44and so we've saved a bunch of like comments a bunch of emails a bunch of stuff like all with

00:13:49prospects and so we were hoping that you could explain to us how good some of these people yeah

00:13:55of course a double you guys did you we're gonna get you up more we need a triple you guys are

00:14:01relentless I love how much I always I'm always on the timeline while I'm putting stuff together

00:14:06for no ceilings and then like I look at something I'm like these guys are podcasting again they're

00:14:10just animals so you guys are still work yeah I preach I get that um just keep grinding and this

00:14:20thing will blossom I love it and sometimes I poke it and I'm laughing my butt off but that's

00:14:25your stuff but yeah come on man this is what I do Celtics a draft you give me to talk about that

00:16:43what's up guys hope you guys doing well I took a look at the upcoming draft class and I think

00:16:46it'd be better than most analysts are expecting so let's have a couple of picks at 30 and 55 I

00:16:50really only looked at 30 although they will most likely stick with 55 or trade both knowing my

00:16:55luck it's really long sorry don't apologize before we even get into it he says could be better than

00:17:00most analytics are expecting are you in on the this draft class sucks train Tyler is it like

00:17:06what is your general thought process on the draft like because that's all you hear is this draft

00:17:10closet is bad yeah no it doesn't suck it's one of those there's just it's the classic year of

00:17:16there's no consensus number one guy so everyone's in panic mode you know what it is is it's really

00:17:22good year for the rich to get richer like for teams in the playoffs it's really really good

00:17:28to get some more depth to get some pieces I think when you get past the top five there starts to get

00:17:36like okay there's some value that could be presenting itself and then when you get to that

00:17:4112 on there's gonna be really nice pieces yeah I'm I'm pumped about this year for a lot of these

00:17:50teams that are like playoff contenders to be pumped where the Celtics are picking very good spot

00:17:56yeah it'll it'll be very interesting but I'm high on this year's class because I do think there's

00:18:03very good depth from teams that I've talked to they're excited about the depth because this is

00:18:09the where you get the rotation pieces you know and with the CBA stuff like this is a big year for a

00:18:15lot of these teams you could find some some value awesome hell yeah all right well let's go back to

00:18:21Michael's email real quick I'll change the little outline and screen put us at the bottom again so

00:18:26the first guy he brings up is Bobby Clintman of the NBL 21 610 I'm sure reading Michael's stuff

00:18:31here long athletic win good looking for him better in stats my success he says Trey Murphy but not a

00:18:36great defender thoughts on Bobby Clintman and there's a lot of them so you don't have to go

00:18:40super in detail if you don't want to but like go nuts no Clintman's fun he he was at Wake Forest

00:18:47last year if that guy's if it sounds familiar and then there was like some weird process where

00:18:54people thought he had a promise he ended up not and then at the very last second he decided to

00:19:00go to the NBL and people like what the heck's going on he had a good year he's lengthy he could shoot

00:19:05a little bit not he's not the Trey Murphy defender I think he's just kind of one of those fun tools

00:19:13that you'd maybe like to work with I'm not as high on him our previous big board as you know

00:19:19Jack's pulling up here at no ceilings we had him at 36 I think it's just one of those like hey he's

00:19:25nice the tools are impressive it's if one team's buying in on him you get the idea but he could be

00:19:33it'd be fun value for me in the second round I think some people might be like hey I love him

00:19:37in the end of the first that's fine yeah it's fun to dream about a 610 guy that can shoot threes and

00:19:44stuff I just think there's a little bit more rawness to his game than overall but he's fun

00:19:49he's fun for sure love that Sam thoughts on Bobby Clintman very handsome afraid to smile great

00:20:00analysis um cool awesome appreciate you let's okay what would Michael have next uh as you can

00:20:07tell we're we're less than informed on a lot of these guys tell her that's why that's what I'm

00:20:11here for come on okay so Kalel Ware of Indiana this is a name I've seen a lot in our comment

00:20:18section um I believe we had like three different people come at this did they try and name him

00:20:22after Superman like Kal-El but like this instead I didn't even know that was a thing Tyler gets it

00:20:29you don't I just like that you guys just always make me laugh I love this um where's he's gonna

00:20:36look it up uh yes but like when you say it out loud it sounds like you're trying to say

00:20:45Kal-El what is Kal-El I think that's like his like Kryptonian name yeah RJ Kal-El all right

00:20:55um Kal-El where uh where's fun so Ware was a former like top 15 top recruit um coming out of

00:21:05high school he went to Oregon for his freshman year just didn't really hit the ground running

00:21:12um Oregon wanted him to do a lot of stuff immediately he just wasn't ready transferred

00:21:17to Indiana with Mike Woodson this year he looked really really good he's lengthy he could shoot

00:21:21three a little bit um volleyball spikes you know he's a good rim protector he just had a good year

00:21:29for them they fed him a lot but he showed the versatility he had some motor questions last year

00:21:35I think from what I've heard those questions have been kind of answered in a good way and he's been

00:21:40interviewing really well and teams have been impressed I'd love him to be on the board for

00:21:45the Celtics I don't think he's gonna make it to them I think he's kind of done a good job this

00:21:50pre-draft process and um I think you're looking at him probably like 25 up like I wouldn't be

00:21:59shocked if he's going late lottery or right outside the lottery I think he's had a quietly

00:22:04good process gotcha he seems like the type of player that the Celtics could use going down the

00:22:10line like you think about Horford being 38 39 next June Porzingis coming off this weird rare injury

00:22:21you're going to need depth at this position especially when the future rolls around

00:22:24and Horford eventually does retire he's not going to retire this season but eventually he's going to

00:22:29have to so this does seem like a pretty good bet going with a big guy good stats good shooting

00:22:35percentages can't shoot free throws do you put weight when guys are higher high school recruits

00:22:43like do you think that means anything do you think it adds anything I know I think the Warriors have

00:22:47like a little bit of a track record going with guys that were high school guys and it's kind of

00:22:52panned out for them you know Gigi Jackson is somebody this season that going into the draft

00:22:57last year he wasn't super highly you know touted as a high pick but he was somebody who coming out

00:23:02of high school was a high recruit and then there's Romeo Lankford what are you gonna do yeah Celtics

00:23:07pick up doesn't matter I think you know see if it does make a little bit you you want to make note

00:23:13of it I just also think if if you're well known you've like teams have been paying attention to

00:23:19you longer so like Avery Bradley back in the day was like one of the top recruits then was just a

00:23:25vicious on-ball defender at Texas Celts still drafted him in the first round I think you it's

00:23:31just you've had more time to kind of get to know them and be familiar with them so maybe there's

00:23:36just a level of comfort but like there's also just times where guys weren't big high school recruits

00:23:41and they'll go find you if you're playing good enough you know Derek Carrington this year was

00:23:49not a humongous recruit and now all of a sudden he's been a very popular name in the pre-draft

00:23:53process but I'm with you I I keep waiting for them to get big depth and this is a year where like the

00:24:01the depth of the big man position is I like it a lot for a team like the Celtics I'm like just

00:24:09Brad please stay there and just pick for once I know the salary cap problems I know what we're

00:24:14trying to do I know you're gonna trade back it's not my money come on wick is fine if you stay at

00:24:1930 but um I also think if they trade back this year like there's still gonna be really good big

00:24:24man depth so um I'd love them to get they just need some insurance like this roster doesn't

00:24:31need a ton but I'd like you to get some big insurance for like Sam said when it's time for

00:24:36out to go if we have to keep dealing with porzingis or if we have to wrap them in a you

00:24:43know bubble bubble wrap until the playoffs and then just be like okay it's time to take the

00:24:48packaging off I just want them to get someone that could kind of help that they can work with

00:24:52too and groom plus there's like the oh these guys are great mentors wrinkle to it too like

00:24:59for this kind of come in and learn from Harvard and porzingis pretty good yeah for sure absolutely

00:25:06we also forgot to mention this seminar doing our own series of looking at potential guys who could

00:25:11go to the Celtics and we've only done two so far but I think we're gonna start ramping up and do

00:25:15one or two a day from now on and we're putting them in a tier list and so when we're done with

00:25:18our dealers we're gonna send you a picture of the tier list and you can tell us if we're

00:25:21idiots or not based on I'll give you some names you guys you guys send me and I'll give you some

00:25:27names that I think you'll have some fun watching because I have a lot of names I'm excited about

00:25:32that I think the Celtics might actually I like that so we've watched I'll send you some names

00:25:35too so far we've watched Baylor Shireman and Tyler Smith okay so far I'll have one that's for your

00:25:42column I think I'm gonna have one that you guys will get very pumped about so I'll send you one

00:25:50no no no he's insane it's gonna be a second it's a second round big so he's on the list

00:25:56love that all right

00:26:06I tried not to laugh while listening to it and then I was like it would be the best

00:26:10power move ever if you win a title and then just draft him

00:26:21apparently I don't want to put him on a two-way so that won't even happen

00:26:24no Jordan Walsh was not two-way doesn't know like the the clutch agency is saying yeah they

00:26:30said we don't want to do it anyway I know but my point is you can still play in the G League

00:26:36I see I wouldn't I wouldn't be drafted him anyways Kaishan George out of Miami

00:27:08first step not the quickest creator he covers a lot of ground but he can shoot like he wasn't

00:27:14playing a ton to begin the year so you'll see those stats and be like what's going on but then

00:27:17they started to play him and that Miami team was very uh iso hero ball so then he started playing

00:27:25and was like the one player that would like pass and move the ball and he was just fun to watch on

00:27:32that team so I think he's a bit of like the upside potential swing but the one skill he has right now

00:27:39is a beautiful shot from that he can hit from really deep that's consistent so I would be

00:27:45shocked if he's there everyone I'm talked to is like oh gosh he could go so early teams love him

00:27:50and I'm like oh gosh like this draft that's why people are getting excited about this draft because

00:27:55it's going to be unbelievable tv on draft night no one knows what the heck's going to happen like

00:27:59it's crazy yeah that's awesome I mean you even look here like this is from what June 5th or

00:28:04something this big board is going to be what top 10 pick now yeah I mean he's going lottery we had

00:28:11him in the like we had him earlier in the year like up there like towards the top towards the

00:28:16lottery now he's moved down and then I think right before I hopped on with you guys we just updated

00:29:51take a ton of bat he doesn't take bad shots he will take the shot when he's wide open if you

00:29:56give him a little 18 footer he's like I'll take this and he's got a good looking shot

00:30:01the rest of the stuff is just a little offensively is raw he's like the pick and pop uh

00:30:08Channing Frye maybe like you know it's just like one dimensional and still really young

00:30:15so you're maybe like oh maybe there's some more stuff that can develop I like him I think he's

00:30:20one of those ingredients where a team that you know maybe it's a playoff contender is like oh

00:30:26now we can add a 610 three-point shooter for a pick and pop like that might be fun to work with

00:30:31but I'm not taking that very early if that makes sense like I I feel like you could find those

00:30:38later and you know I think he's just got some some work to do but there's he's nice like every

00:30:46time I've watched him I'm like he he doesn't force shots he makes the right shot like he

00:30:52he's comfortable what type of player he is he's usually he kind of tailed off towards the end

00:30:57with his percentages but his percentages all year were really nice so I don't think you guys are far

00:31:01off he's not the greatest uh highlight machine but he's also just like a oh you might come in

00:36:08but doesn't force it um also could take it off the bounce and throw down with some some anger

00:36:15one of those like I don't like comparing any prospect to a superstar but you know how NB

00:36:21just does some stuff like off the dribble you're like it looks like he's in slow motion but no one

00:36:25can get in front of him yes just like that it's like so he does some stuff like that you're like

00:36:30why can't someone cut him off and then but it beats also like much bigger and filled out

00:36:39he's gained some weight I think before the pre-drive process but he's still like

00:36:44a little thinner lower body but he's he's good he's a stud I think a lot of teams like him

00:38:00and then he was on the fence he actually went to Nike hoop summit this year and was like able to

00:38:06play there and then was on the fence of declaring for the draft or he was going to go to college

00:38:13and I saw him in person he does some stuff that's really exciting that you'd like to work with

00:38:18like he's a lob guy he's a high motor guy that all of a sudden just tip dunks and effective

00:38:26rebounds um there's a lot of fun raw stuff he needs some time in the g league like legit time

00:38:33to just get reps but it's like okay at some point if you're buying in it's a fun thing I think people

00:38:39were shocked he stayed in the draft um but I also get it like I okay fine I get it you're intrigued

00:38:47you must feel good about where your stock's at but

00:38:51I don't know about the celts unless they're just like hey we're trading back in a second

00:38:55and we're gonna get him maybe you get a couple second round picks and you get him as you're just

00:38:59like okay he's gonna be great in Maine this year you're starting center in Maine and um you kind of

00:39:06do the Jordan Walsh project or experience but you start over with hold rich I don't know so

00:39:12I get it if they took him if they stayed at 30 and took him I'd probably fall out of my chair

00:39:17but um he's a fun project like if if a team has second round picks and a couple extras and you're

00:39:25fine with like hey he's in the g league the first year I think it's a it's a great investment to

00:39:31just be like why not we could strike gold they got a repeated eastern conference g league champs so

00:39:37this is yes gosh I wish they won it so they could have said we won the games

00:39:44oh tough bad luck Sam not allowed anymore your band literally from the get-go just not a shot

00:39:54man so so you have a different perspective than you really got to appreciate the big club's title

00:40:01yeah like you really got to appreciate I was devastated you saw on the feed

00:40:05I didn't know what to do with myself no I thought I actually like was really impressed with like

00:40:10just the way uh coach Miller handled that and he was just like you know this is a great group of

00:40:15guys and we achieved a lot and the g-league the whole point is actually to grow it's not necessarily

00:40:20to win so they were technically winners this season I love how you said that some people don't

00:40:26realize that it's like the g-league they're supposed to be developing guys fucking losers

00:40:30can't believe they fucking lost the finals it's true good thing those g-league guys didn't get

00:40:36in the game in the nba finals well they did technically kind of at the end they lost that game

00:40:44ryan dunn virginia 21 okay best defender in the draft is this true is michael yes

00:40:57a realistic shot for the celtics okay so I love ryan dunn absolutely love him um

00:41:05think about Jordan Walsh on steroids defensively like he's he is he is the best defensive

00:41:14player probably in this class now you're probably saying you guys have him 38th in your last mock

00:41:21draft how can he be that low is I see why there's no offense there's none like it it's really weird

00:41:29because the shot doesn't look as bad as those numbers would suggest no it looks better it's

00:41:38just like there's no confidence virginia just didn't want him shooting threes he didn't have

00:41:43confidence to shoot threes so some teams like hey the shot we can work with like we can get this

00:41:50going there's a place for him to be an absolute weapon like virginia kind of played him at like a

00:41:56four as a freshman and then like would make him be an on ball like screen guy he would just do all

00:42:03the dirty work and then this year they kept letting him do that he dunks on people he he

00:42:10had games this year with like five blocks and three steals he had a game I think this year

00:42:14was like seven blocks like he's possessed defensively so it's it's not like oh you're

00:42:20getting like a matisse stable it's a crazy psycho defender it's just I think the celtics would look

00:42:28at him and be like okay we're putting him in with you know jalen brown and tatum and

00:42:33just gonna let him be a psycho defender and he doesn't need to score but it's just

00:42:40can you figure out a role for him without being a threat offensively and he's not a

00:42:47like he's a good he's a good awareness offensively he's not like oh I don't know

00:42:52what to do with the ball he just doesn't look to score unless he's cutting dunking

00:42:58um but if you're if you're like hey with defense if they could figure him out and have him in

00:43:05Jordan Walsh it'd be hilarious just how much defensive talent they would have just do it

00:43:12one game they never brought tatum off the bench now i think about it jack remember when he was

00:43:17like what if i come off the bench one game they lied did it liars those losers can't even commit

00:43:24um justin edwards out of kentucky 20 6 6 shot looks better than the stats according to michael

00:43:32decent defender lots of upside i've seen him in the 30 range as well but yeah he he should be there

00:43:40um there was a point this year like coming into the year we thought he was going to be top three

00:43:45guy like a top three to five draft oh no oh my god he was a number he was a number one number

00:43:53one overall recruit at one point um for most of the year out of coming out of high school

00:43:58and i think he dropped down to like three lefty with good size um just for most of the season

00:44:06it just like you kept waiting you kept waiting you're like when is when is you gonna find the

00:44:12confidence and finally he had a couple games where he was like okay he's starting to wake

00:44:17up a little bit then he had a game where he went like 11 for 11 you just couldn't miss and it was

00:44:21like oh this is fun um it was just a weird year like just never seen i feel like he dealt with

00:44:29some confidence like he was one of those guys that sounds like he was overworking because he was

00:44:34he felt like he wasn't delivering so he was just like obsessively in the gym i think a team just

00:44:40needs to give him some confidence i think he just needs some time to realize like hey just

00:44:44piece it together because there's some good stuff the shot looks beautiful it's just like okay like

00:44:52some games it's just like okay every shot looks good but it's not going in this drives me crazy

00:44:56so i loved him coming into the year and i just feel like it was a tough year where it's just like

00:45:01that he didn't live up to the hype um i don't know i think there's some good defensive potential but

00:45:07there's inconsistencies it's just one of those frustrating guys where you're like you watch him

00:45:13you're like this should be rodney hood or or some guy that just plays for a long time and then

00:45:18just never really finds that next step so he's kind of one of those i could see a team investing

00:45:25in the second round pretty early because they're like hey this is real shot to to deliver but

00:45:32just was like a i was shocked he stayed in but also not really because i didn't think

00:45:36him going back was going to help um and i just think it's going to be interesting to see where

00:45:42he ends up so he could be a celtics you know it feels like a brad thing if he did it it would be

00:45:47like oh brad's buying in on the you know bad year one bad year doesn't tell everything and maybe you

00:45:55put him in the g league let him get some some reps i don't know

00:47:03why did the celtics hurt me and then the next year i was like i'm not the biggest jordan walsh guy

00:47:08and they took him so if everyone's listening to this like just be ready for filipowski to fall

00:47:13into the laps and brad's gonna be like oh easy pick but um he just he seems like a pick and

00:47:20pop guy that never really came to develop into a pick and pop guy he had uh he had like a double

00:47:27hip surgery before the season um i don't know yeah it was it's just kind of weird and i don't know

00:47:36i just not the biggest fan but if at 30 i'd be a 30 great great pick because he could probably

00:47:43stick um aj johnson mbo 1964 combo guard fits the celtic system per michael could get away

00:47:52with drafting him later i'm just per michael on everything here because i'm just shut up michael

00:47:57we're doing the draft so so yeah shout out michael i love this aj's really i would like

00:48:05be doing a backflip if the celtics drafted aj so he was supposed to go to texas

00:48:11um i had a exec tell me in the beginning of the year if aj went to texas he would have been a

00:48:16lottery connection right doesn't yes lamella lamella there you go justin tatum so this

00:48:23aj is lightning in a bottle he's got athleticism he's got crazy burst he's thin you're gonna look

00:48:29at those numbers and be like what are you doing you watch some of his tape and you're like why

00:48:33didn't they play this kid more like what is the deal and i heard that was just a rough year for

00:48:38nbl with all these guys coming in but um there's talent here and then he played at the combine and

00:48:45was like very impressive um he's like six five with bounce that's very raw still but um he's

00:48:55not his actual brother but him and jalen green are like have been lifelong friends and they play a

00:49:00lot like similar it's like that explosive bursty high flying i just think that he's a he's had a

00:49:07good process he's one name that i would love the cells to get him and just be like crazy upside

00:49:13like just let him get some reps let his body fill out and then if he had aj johnson somehow coming

00:49:19off the bench if everything hits you're like oh gosh we have a real weapon here so i don't know

00:49:25lethal weapon good movie definitely sounds like something good for me just highlight tape up there

00:49:32at the end yeah you'll like you'll like the the highlight tape he just does a couple things you're

00:49:37like oh gosh i draft him just off of like first pick like that play set of highlights well and

00:49:44there's some playmaking stuff there's some feel stuff that you're like oh he's got real vision

00:49:49like it's tough because i think if he went to texas he probably would have ended up in the

00:49:54lottery but i've heard good things about the pre-draft process i think he grew a little bit

00:50:00um so he's kind of one of those late bloomers like it's fun fun player gotcha shout out michael

00:50:08found a good one michael's on um taron shannon jr 23 so older 6-6 obviously had stuff off the

00:50:16court but was found not guilty um good enough shooter playmaker transition all that stuff

00:50:21i think he's probably going pre-30 am i correct in saying that or yeah um he had a crazy game in

00:50:29the big 10 tournament right or was that actually in the real tournament forget maybe both he was

00:50:34really good for london he's been good for them so we uh we haven't had him on our board all year

00:50:42pretty much at no ceiling since the stuff came out because we just kind of all talked and we were

00:50:48like we're not gonna go down that road um it was more just kind of like a no everyone's been

00:50:55someone's at least asked every time where's taron shannon jr and i'm like well what do you think

00:50:59um he's he's fun now he's got he's not guilty so i'm not making any judgment i'm just saying

00:51:05he's not guilty um or he was ruled not guilty i i think someone's gonna take him probably in

00:51:12the first round if everything if teams are done their homework and cleared out i haven't heard

00:51:16anything bad you know i haven't heard that there's any serious concerns or anything but

00:51:21um he's tough he's tough he's physical lefty could play good defense shots probably gotten

00:51:30a little bit better i'd like it to take a bigger step but he's just not gonna be that

00:51:35you know three-point shoot weapon i think he's just gonna be this tough as nails

00:51:40downhill driver that can play good defense and i think teams always love those type of guys at

00:51:45some point so maybe um i i don't i don't know if i could see the seltz swinging on that um

00:51:56especially coming off the championship like you don't want like any extra storylines or

00:51:59anything extra coming into your team yeah exactly and it's i don't this isn't like

00:52:05me trying to go after taron shannon jr i'm just saying i don't know if even with him being

00:52:13you know ruled not guilty i don't know if that's the first swing you want to take after a title

00:52:18yeah it's just not like hey let's add him to the mix we have this great chemistry let's throw in

00:52:23you know and you know what i'm trying to say but you know we we we we don't do their homework jr

00:52:31carlton kerrington aka bob kerrington 1865 uh he's somebody i've seen is like soaring up draft

00:52:39boards uh in recent weeks so yeah again probably not at 30 but i forget fun he's really fun um

00:52:48he's like a pretty much if you were making a guard it's everything you'd want and he's still raw

00:52:55but it's like the foundation of tools is really fun for a rookie to like build with um might take

00:53:02a couple you know just a little bit for everything to click you know kind of like sga how it's like

00:53:07oh he's fun and then all of a sudden one season it just was like oh sga's here and he's awesome

00:53:13he's incredible so i think character's got a lot of good stuff he's got to work on his three-point

00:53:19shot he weighed way more than i thought he was like the combine i think he was like closer to

00:53:24like 195 i thought he's gonna be like 180 no he was just like he looks so skinny on film and he's

00:53:32one of those like he wears long sleeves so i was like are you hiding wearing long sleeves because

00:53:38you're super skinny little baby arms yeah baby arms and then uh he weighed i was like whoa that's

00:53:44a great number so he's he's good he's he can play um he had like a triple double to start the year

00:53:51and everyone's like who the heck is this and then he's just kind of been one of those guys he kept

00:53:57getting better so yeah i think he'll be gone but um if he was on the board at 30 they should sprint

00:54:04to the podium but yeah it's tough you guys are giving me guys i'm like yeah like a couple months

00:54:10ago they might have had a shot but now look at cam Whitmore last year fell all the way exactly

00:54:18and this year is the year where more guys can fall than ever like it's it's up in the air

00:54:23uh okay now Pacome Dadier did i say it right is that correct yeah now if they draft somebody

00:54:33named ratio farm oh that's his team that's his team okay well what a team like far like twitter

00:54:43would have a field day rate like anyways 18 6 8 elite catch and shoot player 39 percent

00:54:48create create his own shot raw skill set etc etc i just saw the same for the first time like

00:54:54a week ago when i was writing a random mock draft for a site that i read for

00:54:59yeah i know nothing about this guy i love him i would do a backflip if the celtics got him

00:55:06um so ratio farm won their league last year and had like their whole roster coming back

00:55:13uh it was trevium trevium williams i think is on the roster so there you go a little little

00:55:18summer league name for you guys okay um they were good they're very skilled they're good and

00:55:24pacom was like their young guy and their academy that they were kind of playing with the big team

00:55:32sometimes he's really skilled really smooth um the fact that he earned minutes on the you know

00:55:39returning team that was a winner was kind of notable he kept getting better as the year went

00:55:43on he's been smooth um and i actually worked i previously worked with their player development

00:55:54coach so we've been talking about become since like last year and uh he was just like i love him

00:56:01he works hard he's got a lot of talent to work with and i think he's a name that is popular

00:56:06around the celtics territory right now i think a lot of teams are intrigued with him

00:56:11because he has a lot of offensive upside so he'd be fun if he's there and the celts trade back i'm

00:56:19gonna lose it sounds like my favorite yeah he would be so much fun like if you have pacom to

00:56:28work with like to just it's like oh you're gonna go to camp and work with you know practice against

00:56:34tatum and brown like he'd first probably be like i'm gonna cry with drew holiday guarding me but

00:56:40then you'd be like oh i got i'm gonna get better like he's just a hard-working kid that's getting

00:56:45really good so i think he's a diamond in the rough oh i love that nice good to know uh harrison

00:56:53ingram at a unc uh 21 6 5 7 foot wingspan at 6 5 is insane uh good shooter can defend would fit

00:57:02the ball well for michael oh he would for sure does he even have to bend down to tie his shoes

00:57:07huh does he even have to bend over to tie his shoes with that wingspan

00:57:12jesus no so so he went to this is a the celtics trade back and get ingram 100 like they trade

00:57:22back to the 40th pick somehow i don't know we'll see um but he he was at stanford he was buzzing

00:57:29his freshman year at stanford then and i saw him actually play and he was a little bit like

00:57:35he still had some baby fat like his body hadn't really developed um and i was like you need some

00:57:40time he went to stanford for another year he transferred north carolina this year and

00:57:44his body was just like he turned into the hulk and he played really tough he rebounds um the

00:57:50three-point shots gotten much better at stanford he was their playmaker like they ran everything

00:57:56through him so like those 2.2 assists might be like oh what but no he can make plays too he's

00:58:02just tough he he would be a very good uh guy off the bench to like groom maybe maybe turns into that

00:58:12like a young jay crowder or james posey ish for celtics fans that you never really know like the

00:58:18three-point shot still needs to improve it was weird because the three-point shot was way better

01:24:15extension talks um this is from john hollinger of the athletic uh he wrote quote hauser is one

01:24:23year left for the minimum on a team option will be extension eligible this summer he's about to

01:24:27get more expensive but boston sees him as a keeper one possible cap shenanigan would be to decline

01:24:31hauser's team option for the 24 25 season to resign him for a lower money in more years than in an

01:24:36extension that starts 25 26 doing so would increase the celtics tax penalty for the 24 25 season but

01:24:41less the impact of the repeater penalty and manage the second apron in the other years uh he also

01:24:46mentioned that tatum and white's extensions are likely i feel like those are almost foregone

01:24:50conclusions at this point and this would effectively just being you would be extending

01:24:55hauser off of the salary he's on this year rather than next year and since he makes less this year

01:25:01you'd extend them for fewer money versus the other money so like hauser would get the guaranteed like

01:25:07i'm going to be extended now so i'll have the guaranteed money now i don't think it necessarily

01:25:11would be a longer in terms of like it would probably end a year sooner than if he extended

01:25:15next year but he gets the guaranteed i'm gonna get paid rather than risk and injury or some other

01:25:20unforeseen circumstance so it would be cool would be nice not my money obviously like you say

01:25:25yeah not my money uh but this move actually is a not their money either thing because

01:25:32ultimately it lets them avoid the repeater tax which is the real penalty

01:25:37of the second apron apparently that's what my understanding of it is once you get into that

01:25:42it becomes really brutal and you start to really feel the effects of violating the financial rules

01:25:48so if you're able to keep hauser around that's totally found money to me i just kind of expected

01:25:55he would be done after next year and they wouldn't be able to get any kind of extension or any kind of

01:26:00new contract done because he would just garner too much cash but ultimately if he's willing to

01:26:06stick around on a discount extension for whatever discount that would be that's a huge win for the

01:26:12celtics because he can shoot the shit out of the ball and he plays good defense like you're not

01:26:16having to worry about oh this guy is a liability he's not getting targeted he was one of the top

01:26:22seven guys in the finals that was getting run with the clinch on the line like peyton pritchard fell

01:26:27out of the rotation besides his half court heave like they trusted hauser and they trusted him even

01:26:32after he had that rough series against the pacers yeah he's a big body he can shoot the hell out of

01:26:37the ball and he's been solid on defense for them all year so i mean keeping him as a rotation piece

01:26:42would be incredible for the celtics especially considering i i didn't think there was a

01:26:46likelihood so that ends up happening i'd be surprised but it would be a very pleasant

01:26:49surprise at that so good for the celtics they like him a lot and it seems like he could be around

01:27:01it's never too early i guess um uh for making everything black so it ruins my top light oh

01:27:49gonna complain about it but i think he's in a fine spot for him any complaints for you

01:27:54i think mb is the cutoff where like that's the guy if he's above tatum you get a little aggravated

01:28:00and you're like wait why is he above him like mb really doesn't serve as that big of a threat

01:28:06when it comes to winning basketball but the rest of these guys like yokich just won the championship

01:28:11last season luka just made the finals yannis has won a title even though he has been hurt the last

01:28:15couple years like people talk about availability being a huge thing for players when discussing

01:28:24their impact like yannis has missed the first round in two consecutive seasons now i think

01:28:29injuries are like unlucky and freak things but he plays a style that does lend itself to injuries

01:28:36like it's not shocking when you're like i will say yourself yeah the tough part about the like

01:28:42past two years though is like it's not like he didn't play a lot during the season like he played

01:28:45full seasons and then got hurt like that was like the okay damn well that's where it comes to mb

01:31:57steal at the end or he's making big shots or he's somebody that they run the offense through

01:32:03so he can post up or get easy looks at the rim when you need him under control like those two

01:32:10guys are so integral to what the celtics do they absolutely deserve to be up here because the sheer

01:32:16impact that they make and then i mean if you want to talk about porzingis he's probably appropriately

01:32:22placed because he's probably going to uh miss some time yeah he's definitely missing time they have

01:37:53adding to their toolkits in order to improve and earn more playing opportunities jd davis

01:37:57and drew peterson's fema kailu are still in the mix and should be doing the same whether they

01:38:00stay with boston or pursue career opportunities elsewhere even the guys already in joe mizzou

01:38:05circle of trust luke payton and sam going to be hitting the gym okay and payton's case he never

01:38:09leaves it to improve their games because the six players in front of them will be facing

01:38:13facing stresses unique to returning champions the opportunity for more minutes for bench players

01:38:16early in the coming season will be there for another reason than to provide the rest for al

01:38:20jalen and derrick heavy usage through june uh drew and jason ditto plus olympics and chris stops

01:38:26so he doesn't uh rush from his return from surgery given how much of the celtic success

01:38:32is predicated on movement and sharing responsibilities as a unit on both

01:38:35offense and defense i don't see any of these free agents being shown the door

01:38:38i am hopeful that cornet tillman is via re-sign part of the draft along with peterson and davison

01:38:42comfortable uh being good comfortable their years on two ways that gives the celtics uh one open

01:38:50contract slot the third two-way contract if everyone returns with maybe an open full contract

01:38:55if one of the free agents goes elsewhere red auerbach always talked about using the draft

01:38:59to add the next piece to improve the celtics repair for the inevitability of aging i don't

01:39:04know who bought somebody acquiring the draft for via free agency but i as i trusted joe to manage

01:39:08game decisions leading banner 18 i have confidence in brad to work roster science to build the

01:39:12launchpad for banner 19 and beyond be well rj um unfortunately i would bet a lot of money that

01:39:19the roster is not exactly the same next year there's they're not like it's not going to be

01:39:241 through 18 the same it's just i think spi is just going to go play overseas

01:39:28just what i think i don't think jd davison's eligible for another two-way contract

01:41:11even leave room for another signing in the draft like you would have to get like yeah the roster

01:41:16i don't think is going to come back i think he was very close to not playing in the nba last season

01:41:22by choice and only joined the celtics because it was a tremendous opportunity to win a ring which

01:41:53about potentially losing fringe guys is you bring in you probably have first choice of

01:42:25if not the best rebounder at or around his sides in the draft improved from deep which is right up

01:42:33also very physical and strong great cutter and older would now player in quinton's post i think

01:42:43very important quick stops uh elite three-point shooter okay i quinton post the my only like

01:42:50question with stuff like this is like if he's as good and i'm not doubting you um ryan but if he's

01:42:57as good as you say like why isn't he a top 10 pick you know i'm saying like why if he's a seven-footer

01:44:37but i agree with you like chicago could have probably gotten more here like they gave up

01:44:42a winning player and chicago is not in a place where they need winning players right now like

01:44:48i mean i guess they could be but at the same time they're not like

01:44:51no like you're not gonna be a contender next year like somebody like caruso is not living his best

01:44:57basketball life playing with the bulls he can really thrive in a defensive three-point specialist

01:45:05role with the thunder next year like he's gonna be a huge asset to them on the flip side you do get

01:45:1221 year old josh giddy right like he's still pretty young years and years and years ago

01:45:19players that are rookies would be this age so you're getting a guy that has a lot of upside

01:45:24like he has size he can handle the ball he's a good passer but still needs to learn how to

01:45:29shoot a little bit and isn't quite the defender that you need him to be in chicago he's going to

01:45:34have more of a green light to learn in in have wiggle room like with okc that team is maybe ahead

01:45:41of where they thought they would be so there's not going to be as much room like they have to

01:45:46have more ready players the caruso pickup for them is a w the giddy pickup for the bulls might be a

01:45:52w but we don't know yet and it the fact that we don't know means they probably should have got

01:45:56more stuff yeah listen um according to a recent report excuse me from let's see

01:46:09will gottlieb of chgo which is uh all city networks bull site um

01:46:18the bulls declined to trade that included uh multiple draft picks um i'm sorry there was

01:46:24an offer that had a top 10 pick in it basically in this year's draft if they did that and then

01:46:30decided to get josh giddy instead they're morons they had two opportunities in each of the past

01:46:35two seasons to trade caruso for multiple first round picks they didn't trade him for that

01:46:40morons josh giddy reportedly was going to stay with okc but then they said they wanted to come

01:46:47off the bench next year he said no so that presumably means he's going to start in chicago

01:46:51who's better right now sam coby white or josh giddy you might benefit from both

01:46:56kobe white is better right now kobe white's better okay he's also older he has more experience

01:47:02older kobe white is 24 i guess yeah follow up who's better right now i had assumed we're josh

01:47:07giddy probably josh giddy by how much though because it's it's a tinier gap than you imagine

01:47:14my point is i all three is like i don't really know how to explain this he's better

01:47:21he's a little better he's not like head and shoulders above but his potential is way better

01:47:27it feels like like the size like the i don't know it just feels like josh giddy is somebody

01:47:32that you can play both of those other guys off of and if he's able to make good passes and

01:47:39draw the defense which he might not be there yet but those guys can benefit from that

01:47:43my point is if you had the chance to trade caruso for multiple first round picks and or

01:47:48top 10 pick in the draft and you ended with josh giddy that's a failure and you're an embarrassing

01:47:53franchise this trade is not the trade you have a problem with the trade that you the trades or

01:47:57things you have a problem with is the non-trades which you are correct i also don't think giddy's

01:48:02like like what's his ceiling like a non like a lamella ball who can't shoot very well he's not

01:48:10a great defender he's big but if he's not a great defender what does that benefit like his playmaking

01:48:14what is he gonna be luka but not as good and can't shoot and not like it like what it just

01:48:21doesn't make sense to me kobe white's better i think i would assume he was close enough to being

01:48:25better where you should probably like it's just they handled this so poorly the bulls are a

01:48:29terribly run organization i think they are an embarrassment that city should hate the front

01:50:03won a cruiser rockets definitely they're looking to improve so maybe you could have found a way

01:50:08to get the third pick right memphis memphis might have wanted him like maybe they want to pair him

01:50:15with john morant doesn't bane whatever you get where do caruso's minutes come if he's on the

01:50:19rockets the two spot what do you mean so he probably comes off the bench okay so houston

01:50:28would now have fred van vliet yep josh uh josh green green jailing finals recency bias forgive

01:50:36me jabari smith shangun who is in he's not hurt anymore he'll be better in caruso's last guy

01:55:11it's another year so they've got this year's 2024 they have 25 yeah they have all their picks
